Democrats vote to eliminate women’s school sports — 56 Comments

  1. Message to the radical left:

You shall reap what you have sown.
Sow the wind; reap the whirlwind.

Somehow everyone has forgotten the shame of the East German women’s olympic teams. They were not transgendered, but they were juiced up to the eyeballs with male hormones.
And many of those paid for it in their later lives (but who cares, they brought the gold home to the communist fatherland).

  2. What is the justification for federal regulation in these matters? I can see a role for federal regulation of cross-jurisdictional transactions to promote fair dealing and transparency in NCAA sports, but that’s not at issue here (and a great many of these transactions are not cross-jurisdictional).

  3. Democrats think everything should be regulated by the federal government.

Women might still be able to compete in “women’s” sports, but they will less and less often be able to win top places. They will be second class competitors in their own divisions.

  4. Personally, I am tired of this madness of catering to people who imagine they are not their birth gender. They need to have their mental issues addressed, the last thing they need is to be encouraged in their dillusinal fantasy.

  5. Secondly, not everyone who is a transgender athlete is going to be a good athlete.

In certain sports, to a reasonable approximation, they are.

I was a rubbish soccer player as a man. I would be faster, stronger and tougher than almost any woman.

  6. parker,
It’s even worse. People who are going through dysphoria should be spending their time on things other than sports. Maybe the trannie men should be worrying about not being able to have babies like a real woman or even what it is like to have menstrual cramps.
Well, at least they will wipe out the third-wave feminists. I am just sick of all of this.

  7. Actually, although I abhor this on one level, I am laughing on another. I see it as unintentional push back against the notion that girls are applauded for competing in traditional boy’s sports. Think of the preening over the girls who are kickers on high school football teams. Recall the high school boy who was publicly shamed on the national level because he would not wrestle a female. The implication was that he was afraid that she would beat him; never acknowledging that to wrestle her would expose him to a variety of land mines. For starters, where can you grab a girl? Or not? More prosaically he had nothing to gain by winning, but would never be allowed to forget losing.

I completely agree with the posters who question the federal government’s role in such matters. Hopefully, it is simply Democrats in the house trying to mine the huge transgender vote (every vote counts at least once), and Mitch will never let it see the light of day in the Senate.

  8. Alice (or Alec) in Wonderland territory.

Watch out for the Queen of Hearts – he’s a bad motor-scooter !

  9. It is my experience—and I’ve stated this many times on this blog—that plenty of transgender people are quite well-adjusted and have no interest in worrying about things like their competing in organized sports in high school. They just go about living their lives, and I know some of these people and support them. You may even know them, too, at least slightly, without realizing they have this history.

However, there certainly is a group of transgendered people who are making it hard for the rest of the group known as trangendered people (not a unitary group, either) to live their lives, and who are sparking a backlash among a lot of other people who would otherwise not feel much hostility towards them.

  10. I did not see TG coming this fast. After gay marriage, I figured the next step was group marriage. After all polygamy has a long history and is part of Muslim tradition going back to Mohammed. Then there are our own Mormons.

But even if TG was going to be a big thing, genetic males competing as women is obvious craziness — a bad riff from a scifi novel. I’d bet the majority of Democratic voters would agree. If they were allowed to do so anonymously.

  11. Although it has nothing to do with sports, this anecdote should make it pretty clear how *some* Millennial transgenders operate.

The trans teen in my life has made life in my family difficult. If you saw this teen, you would immediately assume that person is his/her birth gender – because virtually no effort is made, aside from storming tantrums if you get pronouns wrong, to actually be the supposed gender identity. Most of us have come to ignore, or at least cut interaction to a minimum, with the teen. There is only one person in the whole extended family who has made any attempt to interact with this teen and cater to his/her gender identity and that person – as a combination of that person’s advanced age and the teen’s complete lack of resemblance to the gender in question – often stumbles and uses the incorrect pronoun.

After the last such incident, the teen’s immediate family cut off all communication with that person (including unfriending on Facebook), and after a period of several weeks of hostility, have now demanded that the elderly family member apologize for “hateful” behavior … or else.

  12. KydyllG:

Sounds as though it’s not just the teen, but the teen’s immediate family who are basically bullying everyone else and in particular that elderly relative who means well.

  13. HuffPo informs me today:

The Fox report on Julian Assange’s arrest twice used the name that Chelsea Manning was referred to prior to her transition.

    https://www.huffpost.com/entry/chelsea-manning-fox-news-julian-assange_n_5caf3fe9e4b0308735d5da01

This faux outrage is called “deadnaming” and the wokesters aim to make it the next N-word, i.e. an excuse to get other Americans fired and terminally harassed even in the most innocent circumstances.

I won’t take any such chances. I will, however, call Manning a traitor and wonder how many innocent people have been killed or had their lives blighted on account of this traitor’s treason.

  14. Neo, I agree that there are people who live as the opposite sex, and no one knows apart from their family and intimate friends. If I were aware of knowing someone like that, I would never go out of my way to be offensive, just as I am not offensive to acquaintances and family members who say they are gay. I expect the same from those people — that is, polite behavior. The aggressive push to require other people to publicly applaud their transitions, and the aggressive push to compete as the opposite sex in sports events, are another matter.

  15. Manning was named Bradley Manning at the time of the crime and at the time of the trial and sentencing.

  16. huxley:

I’ve read a new word for “transition,” too, if I’ve got this right. I think that in the future it will be called “confirmation.” I’ve certainly read the term “gender confirmation surgery” for surgery that is meant to change a biological male into a female in terms of outward sexual characteristics (or of course to change a biological female to a person who looks outwardly male). Interesting use of the word “confirmation,” which suggests that the surgery only confirms what is already the case—that is, that the person is a member of the desired sex.

  17. Kate:

To real activists, your point is invalid and actually discriminatory. The idea (as in my comment above this one) is that the person always was the desired gender and to refer to that person with the old name is a cruel type of discrimination and in fact hateful.

  18. In my personal experience this issue is a monumental loser for the left. I have heard numerous people that I know for a fact are to varying degrees left leaning rail about the outragousness of this issue.

And at least here in the Seattle area another one is the coddling of the homeless.

  19. I’ve read a new word for “transition,” too, if I’ve got this right. I think that in the future it will be called “confirmation.”

neo: Reminds me, in exactly the same way, that Muslims prefer to say “reversion” instead of “conversion.” Because ultimately one always was, is and shall be Muslim, so one reverts to the truth rather than converts to it.

Why the American left doesn’t notice Orwell glaring at them from the grave for their Newspeak, I have no idea.

  20. Basketball is a sport that can be dominated by a small number of talented players, i.e., if a team has one of these players, it can dominate the sport for years (Jordan, Shaq, James, etc).

What is going to happen when the inevitable transgenders find their way into the WNBA? It would be like the plot to the movie “Juwanna Mann”, only the star male athlete in question wouldn’t be exposed as a cheat in the end. A biologic male who made a decent high school basketball player could absolutely dominate a women’s professional league if playing as a transgender. And what if, instead of one player, you had a cadre (three or four) of transgenders come into the league at the same time? They would alter the pay scale for the actual biologic women in the league in addition to dominating the games.

Furthermore, the WNBA does so poorly in terms of television ratings that these ratings are too small to measure and are forbidden from being published. Do you think a sport dominated by a handful of transgenders is going to be more or less popular with the already small market of the sport? Note that the SJWs who will call out everyone for being bigots when the audiences dwindle further and demand that people watch will not be actual viewers or fans of the sport to begin with.

  21. Once upon a time the American left considered Orwell’s 1984 a resource to be mined for attacks on Republicans.

I guess some still do, though it may be too much to expect today’s left to know a book that was published in 1949.

How many young leftists know that Hitler and Stalin started WW2 with an alliance — the German-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact?

  22. Physical transgenders or neo-females. United Airlines proposes a generic transgender label: Mx, which would suffice for homosexuals, bisexuals, and neo-sexuals. This, next to Hope Solo, The Guardian, reporting on progress, diversity (e.g. racism), and too many “white girls next door” in the Olympics.

  23. Neo, you say:

To real activists, your point is invalid and actually discriminatory. The idea (as in my comment above this one) is that the person always was the desired gender and to refer to that person with the old name is a cruel type of discrimination and in fact hateful.

I know. Their goal is to force me and people like me not only to accept but to celebrate their feelings. Polite disagreement is not okay. Total capitulation is required.

  24. Next up for the Left: people who pretend to be sane must be ruined, because they are an insult to those who accept their true genetically determined fate as socially constructed woke folk.

Tickets for sale: Joe Biden wrestles girls on the Iowa campaign trail. Wedding vows are exchanged on the mat. Nobody asks a question of gender. The primary’s a lock. He’s an intersectional survivor.

I could go on, but I don’t know how to stop the clown car.

  25. The power base has self exterminated, it has no future as a power base
They have to smash it and ingratiate themselves to the next power base
now, what do they smash it with? itself against itself…
you cant have that which they vanquished, vanquish them, that’s going backwards
you have to make room for the new power base/s and neuter the old power going out
and even better if you can make the old power base help you replace itself…
more orderly.. idle hands and busy is distracted..

think of it as a social demographic social design version of training your h1-b replacement to take over when your gone…

    (:

  26. It seems to be a mix mostly of the mentally ill, con artists and grifters, aggressive hostile activists, attention seeking publicity whores, and the few who are sane but eccentric. But all seem to have a problem with physical characteristics they were born with. Sad and sick for most.

  27. Dems find another way to commit political suicide.

“I doubt that “harm” in the classic sense (as in assaults, violence) has been dealt out by transgender female athletes to those born female.”

I doubt it as well. Until that is when the natural resentment of girls and women to being shut out of any possibility of winning erupts and the transgendered react with the hate that lurks within.

“And of course transgender females don’t completely dominate female athletics.”

But they will. ‘b’ grade trangendered athletes will be drawn like bees to honey when the certainty of championships beckons.

Here and here is the future of women’s sports.

Transgender woman wins international weightlifting title…
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2017/03/22/transgender-woman-wins-international-weightlifting-title-amid-controversy-over-fairness/?utm_term=.e0fa4e72ee3d

  28. the politicians who are agreeing with this are saying the deer is a horse when asked…

  29. I won’t take any such chances. I will, however, call Manning a traitor and wonder how many innocent people have been killed or had their lives blighted on account of this traitor’s treason.

He’s a Loki like figure who sucks up other people’s time and money. His step-mother’s assessment of him was – that he was an attention whore with his hand outstretched – was the most plausible portrait of him. Obama commuted his sentence because Obama did not disapprove of what he did (or, really, of the sort of person he is).

  30. So how can you differentiate between a morbid anorexic who thinks she (mostly?) is overweight, someone with body identity dysphoria, and someone with a serious case of gender dysphoria, and someone who is not mentally ill. Today, you can’t they are all just a-b normal and need to be “helped’ to their final transition. /s

  31. Tonight I’m watching “The Little Drummer Girl,” a 1984 George Roy Hill film based on a John Le Carre novel. Diane Keaton is persuaded to spy for the Israelis to stop a Palestinian bomber. I saw it back then and have forgotten most of it. Seems pretty good so far.

My point: this is yet another film I don’t believe could be made today because Hollywood has drifted so far to the radical left these days which includes anti-Semitism.

And did anyone catch this grisly story about a teenage boy with a history of cancer and currently fighting off colon cancer. The doctors at the Rochester Institute of Technology convinced the kid he was TG, so he is now receiving hormone therapy, which endangers life, and is against his father’s wishes.

    https://pjmedia.com/video/outraged-father-transgender-drugs-given-to-my-cancer-stricken-son-are-hastening-his-demise/

How can we have come to this place where responsible doctors are playing so monstrously with a child’s life?

  32. Or is the point to assert the power of doctors (and government in general) over children, whatever the parents might wish?

  33. Huxley,

The BBC made a series of ‘The Little Drummer Girl’ last year that aired here on some cable channel. I thought it was pretty good but I haven’t seen the 1984 movie.

  34. I am sure I am out of step, but I see the transgender movement as akin to the homosexual (I will not corrupt the word “gay” ) movement, and the recent extensions of the race relations issues. In each case, it is not sufficient that others accept, and live as let live. No, we all must approve, and accommodate to whatever extent is demanded. And, of course, the demands are elastic.

I knew a family that went through the transgender fire before it was fashionable. It trivializes the experience to call it gut wrenching for all concerned. Fortunately, theirs seems to have ended well. So, I accept that there is a serious issue for some individuals. It is an issue that requires very serious thought and soul searching, along with competent counseling. But, it is an individual issue.

As far as societal acceptance is concerned, my position is that a person must be treated in accordance with their biological attributes until those have been modified. Anything else is a recipe for chaos.

  35. The extremely progressive high school school I attended did not believe in competition. At all. To the point where we had no competitive sports or grades. That would be a perfect environment for this situation. Live and let live, la de da and everybody rolling around on the campus lawn and all that.

Of course, kids who were at all gifted athletes, or required structure, or discipline, or were even a smidge competitive or normal had to transfer out… Ok, so pretty much the school is closed down now. But still.

  36. oldflyer, above:

‘I will not corrupt the word “gay” ‘

    Good man. :>)

  37. Neo: I don’t know how often it happens because it’s only in combat-based sports like boxing that you have the right circumstances, but there was a significant uproar in the world of womens’ MMA fighting in the last year or so when trans fighter Fallon Fox comprehensively slaughtered her female opponent in the first two minutes of their first round, knocking her out and breaking her eye socket. No idea what took place afterwards as I don’t follow the sport, but I do recall the incident and my impression that the injured female was no creampuff, but a quite competent fighter who was brutally outmatched by Fox.

  38. The doctors at the Rochester Institute of Technology

RIT might have a student counseling center and student health clinic. It doesn’t have any treatment facilities beyond that. The medical school and teaching hospital are at the University of Rochester.

  39. “Existing evidence shows that denying opportunities and access to students based on their gender identity causes actual harm to those students,”

Really??? Actual, meaning physical harm, based on denying opportunities?

I flatly don’t believe it, that trans-guys are beaten up when they are not allowed to compete as girls.

They should use the handicapped restrooms, and be considered “sexually handicapped”.
Girl’s sports should be rebranded as XX sports for those with XX genes, only.
Men’s sports should be rebranded as open sports, for all, men and women and trans.

  40. The BBC made a series of ‘The Little Drummer Girl’ last year that aired here on some cable channel. I thought it was pretty good but I haven’t seen the 1984 movie.

Griffin: I see the BBC version came out only last October. It’s the sort of thing my library will pick up when it appears on DVD.

Last week I watched the BBC version of “The Night Manager,” another Le Carre spy novel and I was impressed, particularly by Hugh Laurie’s performance as a shrewd, affable villain. It’s not up to BBC “Tinker, Tailor” standards, though what is. (The Gary Oldman “Tinker, Tailor” from 2011 is pretty terrible in my view.)

Lately I’m making the rounds of Le Carre books in video. Spy thrillers just aren’t the same since the Cold War ended!

  41. I think the equivalent of trans female playing women’s sports is not trans man playing in men’s sports but rather trans men going into the military. Suddenly, instead of being a fighting machine, all the men have the quiet responsibility to watch over their misguided tomboy kid sister.

  42. huxley,

Yes, I liked “The Night Manager’ also. They do a good job of portraying the scope the novels. Not done on the cheap. Their production of “The Little Drummer Girl’ does a fairly good job of inhabiting the cold, dank world of Cold War Europe. Eastern European locations I presume.

  43. The complete entrance of trans-women into women’s sports is a truly wonderful development in the mad hatter land of intersectionality.

“They” thought Renee Richards was a fashionable one-off decades ago. Now let “them” figure out how to navigate the nasty little nuances of testosterone and upper-body strength.

  44. Griffin: “Drummer Girl” is set against the Israeli-Palestinian conflict so most locations are sunny countries around the Mediterranean.

Le Carre’s plots are so involved, they need a 4-6 hour mini-series for proper presentation. Aside from my many aesthetic criticisms of the Gary Oldman “Tinker” film, I don’t know how viewers, who hadn’t read the book or seen the BBC version, followed the plot.

Gary Oldman is a wonderful actor, but his version of Smiley isn’t a patch on the many-layered, many-textured performance of the late, great Sir Alec Guinness.

  45. huxley,

Yes, but also at least in the BBC series the Israelis have Charlie drive an explosive laden car to Austria I believe in their attempts to plant her in the Palestinian terror group. Really good scene of this all going down. Plus the Israeli handlers are all based in Europe (Germany and UK I think).

But yes a good section of the middle is her at the Palestinian camp and her conflicting allegiances.

  46. Griffin: True, but Austria, Germany and the UK aren’t my idea of Cold War Eastern Europe. Then there are the substantial Greek scenes in the first half.

  47. huxley,

I said I guessed they filmed some of that in eastern Europe because many productions do that because of cost and also because they still look or can be made to look like the 60s or 70s and the series was set in early 1970s or so. But I think Austria is borderline eastern Europe but whatever.

  48. According to IMDB the BBC series was filmed in Greece, London and Prague.

Prague is a popular location for filming for the reasons I stated above.

  49. Mr. Ms. and Mx. The East Germans were progressive before their time. They had a forward-looking ideology in an insufficiently liberal world. #NoJudgment #NoLabels #HateLovesAbortion

  50. ‘I will not corrupt the word “gay” ‘ – Oldflyer.

I was just thinking the other day that the slide down into Orwellia (“How many fingers am I holding up?”) probably began around the time that the normal world accepted that word as a synonym for male homosexuals, instead of refusing to abet the corruption of it, just on general principles.

“But it didn’t look like the opening feint of a major war,” you say.
That’s why they call something a slippery slope.

I’ve always liked the phraseology in the Book of Mormon:
    2 Nephi 28:21
And others will he pacify, and lull them away into carnal security, that they will say: All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well—and thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.

Substitute the Victim Group of the Hour for “transgendered” and it applies to everything about the Left.
I know that I have been losing sympathy for quite a number of groups that I used to feel some support for, although I have not yet moved into the hostility camp.
Well, except for the activists who destroyed the Boy Scouts.
Them, I’m feeling kind of hostile towards.

It is probably superflous to point out on this site that pushing formerly indifferent / sympathetic people into hostility so that they can claim even more victim-points, plus some government repression over and above what is already happening in the cultural zeitgeist, is probably the goal.
Otherwise they wouldn’t be making up so many hate crimes and hoping to spark a real one eventually.

  52. AesopFan,

If you do not clearly recognize the enemy you are blind to their battle plan. If the boy scouts is your trip line, you surrendered and bowed down to their sword long ago. Enjoy your neck as long as you keep your head attached.

  53. I know that I have been losing sympathy for quite a number of groups that I used to feel some support for, although I have not yet moved into the hostility camp.

Latter Day Saints should have realized a long time ago not to trust in humans. Not even members of your own church at times.

This naivety, this trust of yours… is perhaps an artifact of your traditions and upbringings. I have been around the Spiritual Wheel enough times to understand that trusting in your human corruptions is a good way to die, by torture even.

If the boy scouts is your trip line, you surrendered and bowed down to their sword long ago. Enjoy your neck as long as you keep your head attached.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints already killed the boy scouts. Must have been Brigham Young’s Masonic secret order!

And others will he pacify, and lull them away into carnal security, that they will say: All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well—and thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.

Maybe you should go look up “secret combinations” in your book and see what it does. Maybe then you will realize how many boys and girls of ya have been asleep at the wheel.

Damn son, even if we as representatives of the Divine Counsel gave you humans the clue and an edge, ya still end up like this!

Females “fight” in the same strength, size, speed, based system as men. Of course the bigger, stronger, faster fighter will dominate. Heh. What did you people expect. A steam engine is better than your stupid water wheel. That don’t mean the steam engine is the epitome of tech.
