Anyone here know much about Jack Posobiec?

A Democrat I know mentioned being highly alarmed at a speech Posobiec made at CPAC in which the latter said:

Welcome to the end of democracy. We are here to overthrow it completely,” he said Thursday. “We didn’t get all the way there on Jan. 6, but we will endeavor to get rid of it.”

My first reaction was “who is this idiot Posobiec?”. Nothing like giving the left more ammunition for its accusations, and more fuel for fear of the right. I’d barely even heard of the guy before; he’s certainly not a highly-regarded figure on the right. His Wiki page is, as one would expect, very negative. I haven’t done any in-depth research yet, but he does sound as though he never met a conspiracy theory he didn’t like, and strives to get attention from taking positions on what the left calls the “far right.”

I tried to find a video of his entire speech at CPAC because I’m curious if there’s any context that could explain it. I only found very brief clips such as this one. Watching just that part – the part that was widely quoted – it seems he’s making a joke. Later on Posobiec explained to NBC news:

… that his statements were largely satirical, poking fun at what he sees as a lack of democratic values from President Joe Biden’s administration.

“We are always supportive of a constitutional republic,” Posobiec said on Friday, referring to conservatives at large.

“What we’re trying to do is return it to the original system. We’re not destroying all of democracy, just their [Democrats’] democracy,” he added.

It certainly seemed satirical – or at least semi-satirical – in the clip. But I see it as extremely stupid and counter-productive satire. It provides fodder for the worst accusations of the left about the right, and I can see why. It’s a cheap shot for some momentary applause, and yet it has large costs.

Are any of you familiar with this guy and why he might be speaking at CPAC?

  2. I’ve seen him copied on X. He seems to be an Only-Trump type and got involved in some pretty weird comments about DeSantis. My guess is that this was intended as satire. Trump has the same problem with the media. Say something as a joke or satire, and they run with it.

  3. Scott Adams has been sharing Prosobiec’s content for years… Generally satirical and Babylon Bee-ish… sometimes informative… The Left takes the Right’s satire seriously, pretending to be shocked.

I’ve seen him speak several times and although I don’t agree with him on everything, he is hardly a fringe character. He appears regularly on Steve Bannon’s War Room. Nobody in the room thought the comment was at all controversial.

  9. Prosobiec first earned his bones as a reporter for Epoch Times — probably the most accurate newspaper offered on the Right. He’s also VERY anti-communist.

    Somehow, he’s implicated in the Pizzagate story, where very conspiratorial right-wingers believed that DC pizza stores were trafficking children to rich Lefties like Epstein.

    I’m as suspicious of the smear as I am sceptical of reports of widespread child sex abuse. Save for Drag Queen story hours.

  10. The clip in your post was not taken from his CPAC speech, it was taken from an event on Wednesday afternoon with Steve Bannon and people who appear regularly on his show. There were about 400 people there (unofficial members of Bannon’s War Room Posse). Everybody knew that Posobiec was mocking the claim that Trump wanted to end Democracy.

    Posobiec spoke at my Republican Club’s Eisenhower Dinner last fall. He volunteered his time and was very personable.

    I don’t know whether we are a democracy, especially after the 2020 elections and the persecutions that followed, but look around. We aren’t well-off, landed, learned, and leisured gentlemen like the Founders and Framers, nor are we tough, independent, self-reliant pioneers like 19th century Americans, so we aren’t going to have a republic in the same sense that they did. The country now is as much a product of Andrew Jackson’s democratic America as it is of George Washington’s republican America (and at this point it’s very much a product of Woodrow Wilson’s and Franklin Roosevelt’s America as well).

  14. Posobiec has been very visible on Twitter and now X, and during the 2024 campaign has become one of the most annoying only-Trump activists. He has proven himself to be an odious grifter and controversialist, a so-called “online influencer” for the Right, but of low character. Mike Cernovich is another similar but more idiosyncratic example of the clowns shaking the influencer money tree. And don’t get me started on Sundance of the Conservative Tree House…

  18. One thing to remember about the left is that they use the word “democracy ” to refer only to their own power. Hence the article about how this was the year of the most elections and yet “democracy ” was endangered because the left is unpopular and the nonleft might win big this year.

  21. It is likely that weekly if not daily leftists of far higher profile than Posobiec are saying things more outrageous and no one cares. Or at least the leftist media propaganda organs don’t care and don’t report. How many of them have reported that the Hamas charter calls explicitly for the murder of Jews, and not ironically? I guess that is not as important …

  22. What can you say? Humor is a powerful persuader, and sharply-worded satire and sarcasm can make one pause to reconsider their premises more carefully. But a contrary mind simply has to remove context, and present these things as if they are meant to be taken seriously, to reverse the message.

    The Left does not want conservatives to be successful in persuading voters. This is another in their attempts to get humor off the table and remove a powerful campaigning tool.

  27. I think it will take 5+ Conservative/Republican terms as President to “Drain the Swamp”. And then only if those who are elected keep at it. I’ve decided that I’m not a Republican or a Democrat or a Libertarian. I’m a Constitutionist. There are simple things that can be done to help this country become what many dream of. Of course, as Von Clauswitz said about war, the simple things are very, very difficult.

    It’s not “walking on eggshells” to not make jokes that hand propaganda opportunities to the left on a silver platter.

    Jokes are fine. But if you’re going to make a joke about ending democracy – one of the favorite and most successful leftist memes about the right – expect the left to pretend to take you seriously and expect the MSM to tell its readers to take you seriously. So you’d better make a really good joke and it better be crystal clear that it IS a joke.

  30. The event at which Posobiec was speaking was not technically not a part of CPAC. It was an event hosted by Steve Bannon for the purpose of providing information to activists on what actions they could take to be more effective. It was billed as a Force Multiplier Academy. The event was free to anybody who signed up and a free lunch (surprisingly good btw) was provided.

    The clip in question was taken from an informal panel with members of Bannon’s War Room show. Posobiec wasn’t giving a speech he was just making a joke during an introduction. Everybody in the room knew that Posobiec was merely mocking the Democrats “saving our Democracy” nonsense. Nobody took his comment as a serious threat to end Democracy. If I hadn’t seen this clip replayed I would never have remembered he said it.

    If you can’t make a relatively mild joke in an informal setting in front of a group of friends and supporters, than I think you are walking on eggshells.

    I had only heard this one, but now a quick search has led me to some article that says how in 2017 he, Posobiec, tweeted Dugin’s book, in which he says how Russia should “introduce geopolitical disorder in domestic American activity, promoting all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist and sectarian groups, thereby destabilizing domestic political processes in the United States,” and “just hours later,” Posobietz “promoted LePen’s candidacy in a YouTube video”, which LePen “was not only a far-right, anti-immigrant politician, but also had obvious ties to Russia at the time.”

    Then he published more “Russian disinformation”, etc., etc.

    So, the targeted messages are received: the “leftists” receive confirmation on the trope that “Trump is a Russian hand/connected to Russia” (which is “threatening our democracy”, so support the democracy of the democrats, and let’s still support Ukraine in its fight against Putin’s tyrannical invasion).

    Some, quite broad, it should be noted, circles of “rightists” receive the same message, which, however, is received in the reverse, positive way, reinforcing the question “is there this ‘secret fight against democrats/globalists (and ‘enemies of America’)?”
    *Here it should be added to: Trump (who called himself the Father of Vaccine, and to this day praises his achievement because he “saved millions of lives”, calling all the skeptics’ doubts about vaccines and covid in general “dizinfo and conspiracy theories”) secretly fights the Cabal (which is only Democrats), and waits for the moment to clear the swamp, etc. – everything in this area associated with active self-deletion of memory plus pink hopes.

    And, above all, what Posobiec’s work is a small part of is very useful in affirming the idea of the reality of the two warring camps on a global level: “globohomo-deep stey-dems” versus “anti-homo-traditionalist-conservatives”, the latter expressed with Trump in the US, and Russia, even China, globally. And every action, both on the left and on the right, fuels even more this idea of extreme confrontation and a battle with an obscure end. There is hope.

    The war – at every level – will continue until it is resolved in some way, and the eye-pricking common actions and plans will sink deeper.

    So, in Western alt-press, we come to ideas such as: the digital ruble, the Russian CBDC (about which, about it Western variant, there are millions of condemnation articles in the Western alt-press) is a tool to counteract sanctions. (Put everything else along this “innovation” line, which started violently in 2020, but acquired a turbocharged engine after February 2022. And because of this, the Russian Duma has acquired a nickname among the people “the printer”.)

    It gets more complicated here. For example: why does almost the entire alternative media (almost entirely “rightists”) fail to note all the discovered, obvious facts about Russian development for exactly the same development that they have literally billions of articles about (consider all the articles of all such media that are reprinted by all smaller media – even more than billions are), which are quite easy to find in the largest media, as well as in various other open sources? So there’s not a single Russian speaker in the entire Western alt-press to help them?

    Or are they pro-Russian? Are they paid by the Kremlin?
    So we are ready again: there is a global battle activated; seen from one angle (mostly “left”, but also many of the more “sober-minded” who “do not deny Putin’s crimes”) Putin “believed in himself very much” and he works with all these protégés of his (Le Pen, I forgot who else, also with Trump), and February 2022 he activated his “imperial ambitions” with the “invasion of Ukraine”, but “will not stop there” and that is why this whole “support for Ukraine”, etc.

    And all these right-wing media and commentators (many of them, by the way, are some kind of “former”- former from the CIA, former from the US army, former from the UN) work for him, work subversive propaganda for his plan for:
    from the left eye – “against democracy”, sometimes even “for a neo-communist takeover”, “conquering Europe”;
    ; but, on the right eye: Putin “defied the attempt of the American (democrats, and etc. names) elites to attack and conquer / destroy him through proxy-Ukraine”, then “resisted sanctions” and Russia did not collapse (as was the “stupid plan of the Western elites” – do you see how stupid they are? do you think they are so stupid?), which is so – did not collapse, but continued much more actively to transform, as she had actively started doing in 2020, when there was no war, but there was a “truce” in the “global alliance to fight the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection”.

    But this active transformation, which is detailed by the Russian alt-media (anti-leftist/anti-globalist), has either magically “escaped view” of the western alt-media, or they declared it the opposite: victory over the globalist conspirators.

    The same thing, from the point of view of the mainstream and the smaller “left”/”democratic” media, it looks like this, for example: “Putin signed the biometrics law. He, the tyrant, will strengthen his tyrannical control over the population.” (And for a certain number of the rest of the things – not at all for everything – the same).
    – The leftists received the message, which is the latest in a long string of messages in this direction, which further strengthened their faith in the regime of Democratic.
    – The message is 100% true, which will confirm any reasonable person in Russia. Where’s the mistake? In that the left-wing media forgot to mention that their masters want to expand the use of biometrics (and related technologies) for exactly the same reason. That is why the vast majority of the right-wing audience, including on the old established maxim that “whatever the mainstream says – it means the opposite”, along with the broad “demonization of Putin”, the message is perceived as complete (leftist/dems) disinformation.

    Super simple and absolutely purposeful scheme. (Do you see me talking conspiratorially? Because I can give thousands of examples with sources.) The same scheme applies to Trump. On both sides: left and right. And the reactions received are the same ones that are sought.

    Does that sound too conspiratorial? Is it more real that are two warring camps, with almost exactly the same interests?

    But there’s (at least) one particular thing that crosses every line: Democrats (and their “leftist” supporters) approve of suggestions and even teaching children that they can choose their sexuality and even their gender from a young age.

    In Russia, Putin banned it. This – there is no interpretation, but there are facts – in Russia is 100% used to impose the other one, what they all started together in 2020, the “digital transformation”, have you heard it, specialists and officials, including the highests, call it the Great Reset. If you do not like the word because it is worn out – the new or next tenological order (a term used by the same most official and respected people). The same thing is 100% used by Western alt-media, which are mostly pro-Trump, to present an absolutely fake image of Putin (which a white image is “proven” by “the attacks” of “dark left-wing politicians, businessmen and their the media”.)

    Behind this “Putin-banned-trans” – on the one hand disguised, on the other hand acceptable to the Western alt-audience – is the imposition of this same radical transformation by Putin and the other responsible Russian persons, a transformation which, in its Western version, imposed by the Western authorities (currently – democrats)is entirely condemned by the same (mostly right) alternative media and audience as “creeping fascism”, “an attempt to impose neocommunism”, etc.

    What do you think this is being used for in relation with Trump? Why do you think is this bigoted blatant push of a trans agenda? It also has a corresponding anti-reaction in the alternative media. And quite a lot of them are pro-Trump. Trump does not support trans agenda. What do you think will be the support for Trump, which is still huge if Trump returns and restricts the trance agenda? I am referring to the support for all his other policies that he will pursue.

    But, if it’s not Trump, then the nasty Biden (or Kamala and any of them) continues. But with Trump, even if you doesn’t share that blurred right-wing gaze that almost glorifies the Father of the Vaccine, it’s still unclear if he’s going to be as bad as the Democrats. Nevertheless? Maybe…?

    Zero. Trump and Putin are part of a narrative about broadcasting messages to two opposing audiences (of course, there are different options between them, but they still lean somewhere). This is the story of the “fall of the empire.” You know (much better than me) “the empire of lies.” Associate them with the “left/democrat (globohomo/trans) elites” and hope for Trump. The story of the fall of the empire began in early 2022 with Russia’s “unexpected resistance”. Before that, we had the episodes of the “stolen elections”, and even before that, the Father of the Vaccine announced his gift to humanity (he directly said that “he saved the world”), which, even leaving aside the vaccines themselves, is full inclusion in what the whole film was about: the active beginning of the transition to the new technological order.

    The “pandemic” – all together – the “War” – are no longer all together, “Discord”, war, a new world of multipolarity (and the multipolar leaders are moving a great reset by 200 km in part… But the alt-media somehow missed Russia. Because how would this affect the image of Russia as a fighter against the democratic cabal? Are they paid by the Kremlin? So the war is real, Putin is against Western elites and against their plan for “creeping fascism”? 100% no, quite the opposite – it moves 200 km in part the same “creeping fascism” of the Western elites (are they democrats?). And exactly “because the war”, “because fight the sanction”. So, who paid alternative media (the main ones that smaller reprints) for their 100% misreporting of what is happening in Russia and the mainstream media, for 50% misreporting, which confirms the “correctness” of alternative 100% misreporting?

    The answer for Trump and the behavior of (most of) the rightists (and leftists) media, and for all the uninterrupted history (at least) since 2020 has been in the “war” and Russia. These are not two separate things (no matter for how sober-minded you think yourself, and what realities you imagine). There is only one thing, and that is: the optimization of the transition management to the new/next technological order which is disruptive to the previous/present one and cannot be accepted by the population under normal circumstances (without continuous, accompanying this transformation “crises”).

    But I, as obviously a more messy person, love to read here and there on the web right intellectuals (“lefty” I do not read, they are clear, and boring) who build great-built narratives that are wrong. There is a feeling of wonderful expression and text building to admire.

    That was from Q, an anonymous internet poster. Q mixed in salacious conspiracy theories with known information on Russiagate. I always tended to think Q was an information op to discredit the right. Certainly the left used it that way.

    I like Faraga and Orban (with some reservations on the latter due to his position on Russia/Ukraine). I haven’t come to much of a conclusion on Afd.

    I agree with your position, but I don’t know how to put your advice into practice.
    Even if Posobiec had started his talk with “This is satire, folks, and it’s how the Democrats are acting,” the media would still have edited out that part.

    Then, no matter how many people posted the full video, talked about it, fact-checked it, etc. they would continue to post and print their version, and many if not all of their audience would believe it.

    That’s been their MO for all of Trump’s tenure, from as soon as he announced his candidacy, and probably before that as well.

    It’s hard to fight that level of propaganda.
    So – don’t walk on eggshells, but don’t be handing them sound-bites on a platter either — I don’t see how both are possible.

    Remember, the Democrats are the people who fact-checked The Babylon Bee.

    I also remind everyone that, if you are a prominent person of any kind, you have to assume that there will be someone recording everything you say anywhere anytime.
    Remember Romney’s “47%” and Hillary’s “basket of deplorables” were private statements to small groups that were leaked to the media.

    The first bolded segment would indicate that “X” aka Twitter admins are aware of the propensity of the left to do swarm attacks, akin to the mobbing of review sites when a disfavored venue or writer is to be destroyed, and to delete obviously manufactured “context”.

    The post itself was quite interesting.

    Posobiec has written three non-fiction books: Citizens for Trump: The Inside Story of the People’s Movement to Take Back America, all about the 2016 presidential election, 4D Warfare: A Doctrine for a New Generation of Politics, a handbook on political information operations, and Antifa: Inside the Black Bloc, about his investigations infiltrating the Antifa phenomenon in North America and their history. In 2019, Posobiec was awarded a Lincoln Fellowship by the Claremont Institute. Posobiec is also a supporter of Let Them Live, a nonprofit that saves lives from abortion by supporting women in crisis pregnancies. Posobiec’s life was the inspiration for the graphic novel ‘Agent Poso’ by Chuck Dixon and Brett Smith.

    After graduating from Temple University, Posobiec spent 2 years living in China working in international business and learning to speak fluent Mandarin Chinese. Originally from the Philadelphia area, Posobiec now resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife Tanya and their two sons.
