The January 6th Committee recommends prosecuting Trump — 26 Comments

  1. The likelihood of an indictment of Trump is rather high, part of the calculation certainly being the wrath of the base should the corrupt Garland not follow through with what he has been threatening for the longest time; what the anti-Trumpers and the never-Trumpers and GOPe will make of something so egregiously unconstitutional will be interesting to behold. As for J6 and the Reichstag fire, the only difference is that the former was, almost certainly, mostly (if not entirely) a “Fedsurrection”, while the latter was almost certainly set not by any National Socialist sympathizer, but by an actual Communist (not that this can ever be proven beyond all doubt).

  2. Except House Republicans will have oversight of the DOJ. Given what was proved with Russia Collusion, the DOJ will not have the benefit of doubt in the railroading of Trump. Who in the DOJ wants to lie before Congress this time?

  3. Re Invidible Sun — We’re the Pubbies smart and effective, we would see an effective undermining if not eviscerating narrative on J6/Trump parlayed to the People. But who here doubts that it won’t?

Welcome to the FAKE “Thunderdome” — from the Chorus of the 1985 song : “We don’t need another hero/ We don’t need to know the way home/All we want is life beyond the Thunderdome”

  4. The pitiful Left thinks – Knows! BELIEVES!!! – that Trump alone ginned up all the opposition to their wonderful plans for our lives. Therefore he lives in their heads 24/7. They just cannot believe that we peasants would decline to accept their ‘benevolent and generous’ rule. We cannot possibly be smart enough to lead our own happy and productive lives without their help.

Here is a note to the Fools on the Hill [Apologies to the Beatles]: You are winding a spring. Not smart.

  5. Making a martyr of a political opponent is a monumentally stupid move. Driven by their fear and fanaticism.

  6. Tangential to the topic: the J6 Committee is hag Pelosi’s creature. Now juxtapose this to lush Boehner blubbering over her the other day.

  7. yes but without kinzinger and cheney, they wouldn’t the pretense of legitimacy, this is not terribly new except in the us proper, but in panama, varela forced out martinelli, in colombia santos did the same to his rival arias, those are just some that come to mind, macron used lawfare against fillon in the last round of the previous elections, about matters half the chamber of deputies are a party to,

  8. Even after Afghanistan, transitory inflation, energy policy, the southern border, urban destruction, electoral electrocution, Jan. 6th, open season on DJT, etc….some people don’t appear to have gotten THE MEMO…

  10. NPR this morning couldn’t manage to call the J6 Committee “bipartisan” with a straight face… “Well, bipartisan, but not with the Republican members the Republican leadership wanted.”

Most honest comment I have heard Ayesha Rascoe make! Oops!

  11. The Left will tear down the castle to get Trump. The NY AG, Letitia something, ran for office on a pledge to prosecute Trump. “Show me the man and I will show you the crime.” L Beria.

  12. If the Dems’ internal polling shows that indicting Trump is to their political advantage, they’ll go after him. If it’s not – or if it’s a wobbler – they’ll restrain themselves. Although Biden and new leader Jeffries may have to do something to pacify the foaming-at-the-mouth, howling mod that seems to now constitute the majority of their party. You’ve got people like Adam Schiff, Maxine Waters, Jayapal, the Squad (or is the The Coven?) who are so bloodthirsty that anything short of Trump in an orange jumpsuit will not satisfy them.

  13. Yeah, the Jan 6 committee, set up and peopled by the ever-more Left-leaning Democratic Party, which is OK with Jan. 6 protestors spending more time behind bars in solitary than their beloved non-white murderers, out without any bail being paid.
I will tell you, though, this sh*t doesn’t go far in the Southland, where gun ownership is universal.
Somewhere there is a sense of rectitude, but not much up North. Remember, Massachusetts voted 78% for Biden the malevolent hater of America.

Somewhere there is a sense of rectitude, but not so much up North. Remember, Massachusetts voted 78% for Biden the malevolent hater of America.

  15. Golly! Some more “Uncontested Election”(TM) news:
“Arizona judge approves Lake request to examine ballots”—
    https://justthenews.com/government/courts-law/arizona-judge-approves-lake-request-examine-ballots
    “Pennsylvania county to recount 2020 election results;
“While the county uses voting machines to tabulate the final results of its elections, officials will tabulate the roughly 60,000 paper ballots submitted in the contest by hand.”—
    https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/elections/pennsylvania-county-recount-2020-election-results

(Not sure how this is possible, exactly, since under the “Biden” regime, I thought it was against the law to demand—sorry, make that, “request”—accountability…)

  16. Consider raskins father was a soviet frontman dashiki thompson supported a black revolutionary militia those are just two of those in judgement of trump

But as john harrington said about 400 years ago ‘none dare call it treason, if treason doth prosper

  17. Barry Meislin,
The order to look at ballots is for the 2022 election.
From the JTN story you linked to:

“Thompson granted three of Lake’s four demands, allowing the inspection of 50 random “ballot-on-demand” printed ballots, 50 random early ballots, and 50 random BOD ballots marked spoiled. The judge denied her bid to inspect 50 random early ballot envelopes.

I think Barnes said Arizona law requires inspection of the ballots, so this shouldn’t signal much, and I’m not sure how 150 random ballots out of the 1.5 million cast is going to show much of anything. We’ll have to wait and see if the judge dismisses the case before the scheduled trial.

  18. I have a lingering concern that an indictment and conviction of POTUS Trump for any offence might push someone in the MAGAverse to engage in larger-than-J6 shenanigans.
All it takes is 1…or 2 to get hoodwinked by the Feds like the poor dumb buggers in MI… and it could be game on.

  19. John Guilfoyle:

It’s been game on with the bureau for some time.
The FBI is transparent. I see plans within plans…

  20. They know that prosecution means that there is going to be a full-throated defence, unlike the hearings.

    That would prove incredibly embarrassing.

There’s plenty of people who have “won” trials, but the social blowback was far worse than losing would have been.

  21. Give em” help, President Trump. We need to drain the swamp and boil them in manure. So many perverts, misfits, real criminal fouling up and stinking up the White House. The Congress men and women have only one thing in mine and that is to rape the country for whatever they can get out of it. Their concern for the American people in nil. We need term limits, one term is enough, no more medical for life or a pension. They get the hell out and find a job like ordinary people. Work the 20 years of a pension, go on Medicare, pay your own way. Obama and his other half need to be arrested for what he did and for what he stole from the America people. Also, why is his mother in law getting a pension of $185,000 a year? So, she took care of the girls, big deal. I read when I was living in Cambodia, some clown wrote. Cambodia is the 12th most corrupt country in the world. But they failed to mention that the USA is the number one most corrupt. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

  22. I’m overhearing the tv in my parents’ room as I cook them dinner. I believe it’s CNN. Whoever is the talking head is mentioning the upcoming Jan 6 full report, with the talking head saying Jan. 6 and Trump was an assault on democracy. They then immediately bring up Zelensky as one of the greatest examples of democracy the world has ever seen. You can’t make this stuff up.
