Trump doesn’t look a day over 69 — 12 Comments

  1. I really thought that everyone hated baby-boomers, and we wouldn’t see another one of them get a presidential nomination.

  2. If Trump is elected, in four years he’s likely to look a lot older than 70. When combined with maturity and sagacity, being older can be an advantage. Absent those qualities, disaster may await.

  3. Cornhead:

    Now, now.

I know a lot of people their ages. Trump looks okay but nothing special for 70, although I agree he’s got energy. But Hillary seems very energetic to me, and her weight gain has been very very typical for a post-menopausal woman.

  4. “When combined with maturity and sagacity, being older can be an advantage.”

Well, you can’t say that Trump doesn’t have both maturity and sagacity.

  5. Here’s an idle question about these two “blondes”:

How much work has each had done?

I’m guessing hair dye and plastic surgery for each, but that’s about as far as my limited knowledge of these matters takes me.

(If I recall correctly, Trump has not released his medical records — and I assume he never will. The “report” his doctor put together is insufficient for a real evaluation of his health.

During the early months of the campaign, he pursued what some called a “leisurely” pace.

And why not, since the TV networks loved him, and would put him on whenever he wanted coverage.)

  6. I would be a little concerned about putting a person of 70+ in the high stress, stamina taxing job of President. I know from personal experience, and observation of peers, that changes can occur rapidly for a person in their 70s. Sure, everyone is different; and frankly in some ways I am more robust now at 81 than I was five years ago, thanks to an excellent cardiologist and considerable personal effort. But, still…

  7. And they said McCain was going to kick the bucket and give the seat to Palin.

  8. Ymarsakar:

Well, if you followed that link to my old post, it has a link to my original post saying McCain was very likely to live a long, long time.

So I get to say “I told you so” on that. Not that anyone much cares anymore, except McCain and his family.

  9. Ymarsakar:

One more thing—in that old post about McCain (in 2008) and how long he was likely to live, I based some of my opinion on the fact that, at the time I wrote that post, his mother was hale and hearty and only a few days away from her 96th birthday. Well, guess what? She’s still alive at 104.

  10. The other thing is that Trump being so old, could not have been pre planned as the hero or face of the Alt Right. The Alt Right are people of my generation, born or bred with the internet as stimuli and environment. It’s why Trump was so surprised by his network of support, because he has seen Republicans say things almost as bad as himself, but they never got this kind of support or logistical power. It’s why the Clintons would have calculated Trump to be a good upset at the Republican primaries, because they thought he wouldn’t be all that popular.

They did the same thing with McCain, pumping him up as an “Independent Maverick” that could oppose and counter balance Bush II. But people in the Alt Right, especially the ones who started paying attention after 2009, and not the regular Republican/Democrat voters, would have a very short memory of certain things.

It’s why the Alt Right is using Trump, just as more if slightly less than Trump using them. Trump probably doesn’t even know where his supporters are, ideologically and logistically speaking. It’s not something that can be easily found via FBI spy checks on donation lists like the Tea Party, or following the money. You can “follow” the money on line, but you’d have to track Bitcoins…
