The press, the people, Russiagate, and the truth – plus, whistleblowers? — 15 Comments

  1. No indictments, no harm, no foul; no big deal.

I’m hoping that Durham has indictments coming; I understand there were “criminal referrals” before (7?). Coming before the election?

I’m half expecting/ fearing, they won’t come before the election.

There seems to be an increasing chance that Obama will be named (from 1% to 20%?). The Biggest of the Big Fish.

I’d rather have a thousand little fish all get fired, all go without gov’t Fed pensions. I was hoping Durham would be a “Special Prosecutor”, but as Barr noted, such an SP is “not needed”. Not needed in theory.

Giving up fairly sure McCabe guilty in January, for a shot at Obama, seems defensible – but I would rather have had McCabe actually indicted. Only real indictments are things Trump can use as defense, as well as a (good) attacks. As far as I see / IMO.

Obama, like the Dems, do speak a half truth – The Rule of Law is under attack. But it’s under attack by the Dems, and the Dem Deep State who (mostly) hate Trump, and are willing to commit illegal acts, as well as public defamation. The transcripts being released show the Dems were lying publicly while being honest “no evidence” when under oath.

The press “could have” ignored indictments in earlier times. With Trump on twitter, certain to highlight it to his (checking now) 79.6 million followers, means they will be spinning
    spinning,
    spining,
    pining for the fjords.
(I hope. But expect the worst; nada)

  2. “Such is the power of propaganda; it’s like hypnosis and most bizarre of all, the level of one’s education or accomplishments seems to have zero affect on one’s susceptibility to it.”

George Orwell and C S Lewis disagreed. Both said that the educated classes were MORE susceptible to propaganda than those less educated.

  3. As key stuff keeps on emerging, my hopes rise, that Durham will bring big busts w/ in weeks, as per Barr’s expectation of “fireworks” late spring/ early summer.
We’re already seeing too many fireworks, for Barr to get away (from Righty revulsion) with not closing the deal soon.

The recent declassing of stuff previously hidden by Schiff is putting more nails in the Dems’ fantasy on “Russian hacking”.
At https://ConsortiumNews.com/2020/05/09/ray-McGovern-new-house-documents-sow-further-doubt-that-russia-Hacked-the-dnc/ , ex-CIA Ray McGovern describes some face-to-face talks w/ Schiff, and quotes Mueller’s cyber expert Shawn Henry’s just-declassed 2017 testimony to House Intel, on how he had no proof of a Russian hack.
Rather, like the FBI’s pursuit of Richard Jewell, he pinned it on them, because the data fit the **profile**:
“the tactics and techniques were *consistent*, with what we’d seen associated with the Russian state.”

I’d not be shocked, if Eastwood was moved to make that Jewell film, from a tip on what Henry had conceded to the House panel.

  4. “the tactics and techniques were *consistent*, with what we’d seen associated with the Russian state.”

I’ve read that the Russians, Chinese, and U.S. can hack into a server and leave “false” fingerprints. If they hacked the DNC server, why would the Russians leave their calling card? That’s why GOP House members like Devin Nunes wanted the FBI to examine the server. But the server has apparently disappeared. Convenient, if you have a narrative you’re pushing. And they do.

  5. Everyone seems to think that exposing the truth is all that is required. In fact, the whole objective of the opposition is to make truth irrelevant. Not only irrelevant but as a marker for ridicule as someone who doesn’t understand what is at stake. What is at stake in their view is rule by an elite that is capable and educated and uses science. If the enemy wins it means the opposite plus Theocracy (Handmaids Tale, not Islam).

Decades ago Eric Hoffer wrote The True Believer which described this phenomena. The difference today is that True Believers have achieved majority presence in the Blue Bubble states and cities.

I doubt if a DC Grand Jury would indict any of the major perpetrators, and I suspect that a DC Jury would be subjected to a level of intimidation that would make a guilty verdict almost impossible.

In the 1840’s and 1850’s the Planter Class became determined to control the central government. The Dred Scott decision was in February 1856. It said Blacks could not be citizens and had no standing to apply to the Courts. Lincoln came four years later as the candidate of a new party.

Is there a Dred Scott Decision in our future? Is Trump Lincoln? Is there a Lincoln who will appear for 2024 or 2028?

The single issue Pro-Life faction has taken over the GOP so thoroughly that replacements for retiring GOP stalwarts will be such intense social conservatives that they will lose much of their base. The GOP from the Precinct Level to State Chairs are determined to see a repeat of Prohibition, with Protecting the Unborn replacing Demon Rum. Most GOP voters are unaware of the success of the pro-lifers in driving out any opposing voices from the party hierarchy.

Drain the Swamp sounds good, but so far there are no plans being promoted to actually do it. The GOP is still playing defense.

Hoping the DC and Virginial Courts will save us denies observed reality.

  6. My husband used to have a good election prediction device, which was to imagine what his relatives in Oklahoma would think about something. I have something similar, a model for understanding what progressives think, in the form of a close relative. If you look at standardized tests, academic opportunities, and general advantages of upbringing, it would be hard to tell us apart, and yet she buys the whole progressive package. Whatever the syndrome is about, it’s not about IQ or education. My best guess is that it’s resentment of emotional deprivation. Maybe some kinds of conservative bent can be explained that way, too, so maybe it’s a choice of how to deal with it. She believes her problems, and the problems of those closest to her, can be laid at the feet of inadequate social systems. There’s no such thing as not being able to achieve or afford something, it’s the unfairness of the world in not providing it.

  7. Dick Illyes,

I too am concerned about single issue Pro-life faction of the Republican Party. If they push this issue to the forefront we will lose a lot of the inroads we have made with independents and others.

was she from a single parent home? as a lot of them think that way as there was no one to help them and no one to do more than pass blame… seldom does a single mother say, i am the one at fault and your dad was a good guy… so MANY of them have huge problems that are quite significant statistically… if one bothers to look it up… (then again, many of them got into the situation in the first place by not making good choices and often as a repair for bad judgments or lapses of reason)

  9. I wonder if there actually is a single issue “Pro Life” republicans who isn’t a straw man. Do these mythical Pro-Life Republicans have no other issues that they care about; such as immigration, national defense, trans-gender “rights,” other social, national, or political concerns? So they are really progressives except for their Pro-Life defect of reasoning? Just insane in this one area, otherwise perfectly normal? 🙂

  10. “She believes her problems, and the problems of those closest to her, can be laid at the feet of inadequate social systems”, which are dominated by the Patriarchy!
And, in turn, the Patriarchy is dominated by Upper middle-class men, whose lives are ones of relative safety, compared to those of lower-class men.
Nonetheless, according to The Bookworm, Upper middle-class women deride lower middle-class men, tho these middle class women think that it’s the Upper middle-class men who have the unfair advantages!

  11. The power of propaganda, indeed (Eoyore w/hot to Orwell).

An incredible story of a young Cambridge University historian caught up in the Gen. Flynn saga because of a group dinner in 2014, later accused as a Russian spy and Flynn paramour in February, 2016.

Her mentor of 20 years Christopher Andrew is pressured to abusively finger her, having ties to Stefan Halper. Yet even the Wall Street Journal continues to stand by their salacious and defamatory reporting. Calling Kimberly Strassel, anyone…..?

Clearly, Svetlana Lakhova is Obamunist/DNC roadkill, her academic career on Stalin and Soviet era US spy’s in tatters.

The Obama team of conspiracy like Strzok and Comey or Brennan undoubtably orchestrated this hit job to make Gen. Flynn’s downfall and the Russiagate smear compelling and have the imprimatur of the Sunday Times, The New York Times, WashPosts David Ignatious, as well as the WSJ, to sell the lying sizzle.

Svetlana relied on facts and Truth. The media would not enquire about her account, relying on a cabal of liars “pressured” to make her a disposable fall-guy, instead.

  12. If they push this issue to the forefront we will lose a lot of the inroads we have made with independents and other

And you continue to pay lip service and do nothing for your constituency, they stay home. The notion this is a loser for the Republican Party is promoted by business Republicans who don’t care for it a priori.

  13. GB, that false flag I was telling you about, the mass casualty event that would create 100k to 1+ millions of casualties?

Hey, look, some humans are talking about a pandemic!?

Why would they do this? Because that is what it will take to make Americans kneel down, and give up their arms and everything else.

People have sold out. Welcome to the 21st century, and 2020, where evil will Burn in the Light.

  14. Mass casualty event with a fatality rate of <0.01%. Explain that one O sage of wisdom. Nostradamus of our time. 😉
