Brits are limiting puberty blockers in trans treatment
It’s a step in the right direction, at least:
Children will no longer routinely be prescribed puberty blockers at gender identity clinics, NHS England has confirmed.
The decision comes after a review found there was “not enough evidence” they are safe or effective.
Puberty blockers, which pause the physical changes of puberty, will now only be available as part of research.
They will still be available, just not “routinely” from the NHS. I don’t know what percentage of treatment comes at the hands of the NHS – I assume it’s a pretty hefty percentage – but “individual clinicians can still apply to have the drugs funded for patients on a case-by-case basis.” And the 100 minors who are now taking puberty blockers can continue to take them.
Such directives are somewhat simpler in Britain because their health care is more centralized. That centralization isn’t usually a good thing, but it helps in this case.
And not only is there “not enough evidence” that puberty blockers are “safe or effective,” there’s plenty of evidence that they are harmful, including harm to psychosexual development.
This idea that the effects are reversible for a child taking puberty blockers has always seemed ridiculous, especially if the child takes them for years.

The truth about this is gradually emerging. When these mutilated children grow into adulthood and realize the permanent horror that has been perpetrated upon them, no one should be surprised if they seek retribution against those who have ruined their lives. If society never holds these monsters to account, their victims will be perfectly justified in seeking justice by ‘other means’. This is what happens when ‘the rule of law’ becomes an empty promise.
Pronouns are avast, matey, but mostly, aargh.
A medical study recently released showed that after loping off the Johnson and the other bits, suicide rates in those treated were higher than in those not improved.

The centralized NHS made the process worse, first, and quickly. The semi correction is also now coming, also quickly.
An uncertain market would move more slowly towards the mistake, but almost as quickly away, depending on how clear the mistake was.
“Better a live trans child than a suicide”—remains a strong, true argument. But the rates of suicide are hugely unclear, with unhappy trannies in practice committing suicide at high rates. Probably at higher rates than “sex confused kids with other mental health problems given therapy but NOT sex change affirmation”
