  1. I live close to the Rocky Mt foothills and near a small river. We have had Deer, Elk occasionally. And Black Bear (feed in the Corn Fields). A neighbor has recorded a Mountain Lion in our area. And many years ago I found one dead by the road side. Let me tell you, it was huge. In the summer I have to go out and change irrigation water. I am very careful. We also have Coyotes, Skunks, and Racoons. I have no desire to be one of the “exceptions” while meeting up with some these critters.

  2. Not sure if this article has been mentioned already—its been out since 8 February 2024, and has been on my list to check out. What country in the world wouldn’t bomb another country into the ground—if said country had conducted a ‘Sneak Attack’ in which a thousand or so citizens were murdered, tortured, burned alive, and/or raped – as well as another two hundred being kidnapped? I would’ve been mercilessly bombing Palestinians in Gaza & the West Bank until all the hostages were returned.

    ‘Habsora’ or ‘Gospel’

Snip .. In 2019, the Israeli government announced the creation of a ‘targeting directorate’ to produce targets for the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), especially the Israeli Air Force (IAF). In previous conflicts, the IAF would run out of targets after just a few weeks of fighting, having hit all the targets of which they knew. The targeting directorate was created to mitigate this shortage by preemptively creating a ‘bank’ of militant targets prior to any conflict, thereby ensuring enough targets when hostilities began.

Snip .. sources claim that AI is used by the targeting directorate to process the aggregated data and then generate targets at a much higher speed than human analysts can. The AI system used (dubbed ‘Habsora’ (?????), or ‘Gospel’) is said to use the intelligence collected to output actionable targets of militants’ locations for brigade- or division-level targeting. The reporting claims that the target outputs include reports on the likely number of civilian casualties .. The IDF states that the goal is a ‘complete match’ between Habsora’s and a human analyst’s targeting recommendation prior to a strike.

Snip .. Every decision to strike is made with near-comprehensive knowledge of conditions in the target location and anticipated effects of the strike, including anticipated casualties. Israel also has a rigorous legal core within its military, whose lawyers must sign off on every target – human- or AI-generated – even if there are hundreds in a single day.

Still, even tho the “UN says global civilian to combatant death ratio is 9:1. In Gaza IDF seem to have achieved only 1.5:1” – world media makes it seem that Israel is killing 90 Gazan civilians to every 1 Hamas combatant, i.e., 90:1.

  3. While out birdwatching I encountered a Fl. panther on a boardwalk at Corkscrew ( https://corkscrew.audubon.org/ ) a few years back. While I was merely startled, she, poor critter, was scared witless . . . and hilarious to witness — like a cartoon character — feet skittering without traction trying to build escape speed as she came towards me and off the boardwalk into the brush. Beautiful cat though, I gotta say.

  4. Karmi, you may think that the Israelis are justified in their war against Hamas, but the American government disagrees, and not at all respectfully. I think that the Israelis would be well-served to utilize the language the the USA used in WWII; the only acceptable outcome, after 75 years of warfare, is Unconditional Surrender, but I also know that the Israeli Government knows a lot more about how they should conduct their war than I do.

If the X link below works, it will show 86 seconds of our VP commanding the Israeli Government to open more border crossings, to get more aid to “innocent Palestinians.” The US will deliver more aid to the Palestinians not only by air drops, but by a sea route. All this while the Israeli’s enemy continues to hold American citizens hostage.

  5. And does Egypt, does the US offer succor to non-combatant Arab refugees? Hell no! The Arabs must not be allowed to escape the Gaza warlands, but honoring and advancing Hamas’ strategic aims, kept in place to die. Yet for all that Israel still manages to achieve unheard of low ratios of non-combatant deaths. It’s got to be among the most shameful periods in US foreign relations actions.

  6. Got a warning a couple of days ago about a large cat stalking some cows in a pasture about a mile down the road. Haven’t seen it though.

  7. My tolerance for the slattern in reserve is very limited the only surprise is how little regard gantz has for his nation, i guess like churchill said were only haggling about price

  8. Oddly enough, I’ve known two people injured by the animals in the video.

    1) Stingray — my father, swimming in the ocean off Australia in WWII.
    2) Black Widow — my advisor, bitten in a outhouse in Kansas, he was never more specific about the location of the bite 🙂

  9. Dem AZ Gov aligns her contempt for her constituents. They’ll notice? Not likely.

  10. A neighbor has recorded a Mountain Lion in our area. And many years ago I found one dead by the road side. Let me tell you, it was huge.

Yeah … Out east of you ( speaking in general and not at you as an individual) we were used to there being no near apex predators in the state since the 1920’s or a bit later. Although the conventional wisdom was that it was earlier. Tell that to the people chased by wolves in the late ’20s.

Anyway, 1940s to 2010s or so, the idea of a picnicker or cottager encountering anything more menacing than a black bear or a bob cat while fishing an inland lake for panfish with the wife and kids, was unthinkable no matter how far into the woods they pushed. Now, with packs of coyotes and lone wolves roaming, and the last decade cougars in the UP, I think that some measure of preparedness is wise.

Of course there are Gaia worshippers who would rather revert to fertilizer through the digestive system of a mostly non-dangerous wild thing rather than resort to more than shouting and pepper spray, but … eff them.

No reason to kill for no reason, but at least having a .357 in areas where it might come in handy makes sense to me.

And, if unlike me, you are in brown bear territory, then something considerably stronger might be called for. Unless it’s all the same to you, and then maybe not. In which case it would be all the same to me, too.

  11. So this is why they outright stole maricopa county and minor larceny in others

  12. we have had multiple lions come through at the same time, we have also had brown bear and badger! Stay cool. Of all the creatures that transit our place it is the big cats that are the most disturbing. You can be kneeling down in your garden and look up to see one sitting in front of you not more than 15 feet away. Just sitting there watching you!

  13. They are majestic creatures but they are also dangerous
Actually the more money you give them the less they do

  14. Mountain Lions are more closely related to house cats than African lions. African Lions along with tigers, leapards, and jaguars are members of the Pantherinae subfamily while Mountain Lions (aka Cougars or Pumas) along with Domestic Cats, Lynx, Cheetahs, Ocelots, Carcals and a bunch of other smaller cats are members of the Felinae subfamily.

  15. Kyrsten Sinema (one of the last few almost sane Democrats) has announced that she’s not running for reelection. There’s no room for sanity in the modern Democrat party.

  16. Highlights of the Victoria Nuland timeline courtesy of TGP:

As Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs under Obama, Nuland helped plot the overthrow of the Ukrainian government 2014 together with Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan and Crooked Joe. In hindsight, all of the above are crooked. In fairness, Obama is not different from other Dem/RINO operators. Since his time in Cook County, Illinois, he seems to have assumed that crookedness is how successful people get things done.

On March 15, 2016, Nuland was the first to demand that Ukraine fire AG Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Hunter Biden’s corrupt company Burisma, after which Crooked Joe leveraged $1 billion in US loan guarantees to force President Viktor Poroshenko to fire Shokin.

Nuland was also at the heart of Russiagate when she passed on the Steele Dossier to the FBI, having met Steele during the Maidan coup in Ukraine in 2014.

More recently, Gonzalo Lira charged that Nuland “hates my guts”, was responsible for his arrest, and made a video in 2022 outlining her role in Ukraine.

Finally, Lira recently died in a Ukraine prison, TGP filed a FOIA request to further connect the dots, and Nuland has announced her intent to step down in a few weeks. Is the above a direct cause and effect sequence? Perhaps. The crookedness and corruption, however – of that there is no doubt.

  17. I clicked on this story through Google News, hoping it was about the operation detailed in the very interesting book “Double Cross: The True Story of the D-Day Spies” by Ben Macintyre. Unfortunately it was not, and the first two sentences destroyed any interest in reading further:

The man who tricked Nazi Germany: lessons from the past on how to beat disinformation

Thirty percent of Americans claim, despite all evidence to the contrary, that the last presidential elections were “rigged”. Millions are sure that the “deep state” is plotting to import immigrants to vote against “real Americans” in the future.

    https://www.theguardian.com/books/2024/mar/02/the-man-who-tricked-nazi-germany-lessons-from-the-past-on-how-to-beat-disinformation

  18. you have to read these stories through a mirror, ctil the outfit that cancelled or metered many samizdat Carol (lne)who went after Cummings and Arron, leading figures of brexit Fusion GPS see Steele, (who is bizarro Sid Reilly) Haklyut who employed Alex Downer, to run the sting on Papadopoulos,

now you almost can’t blame MI-6 up to a point, in their golden era, they had the likes of Penkovsky and Gordievsky, in this era they had Litvinenko who was much less a reliable character,

in Lea Benjamin’s recent Ilium, there is an operation by American British and Israeli agents against Eduard who lives on an island in the Cote d’Azur, Cap Ferrat, Eduard, is actually Alex Zhukov a retired Russian general, its suggested hes GRU but its not spelled out, it’s a vendetta from a long ago encounter in Beirut, a piece of Wet work, as
they say that went wrong, a young woman is enticed to ingratiate himself with Eduards Family, to set him up the players reveal themselves in due course

  19. The Gateway Pundit is not the most trustworthy outlet, but not trying to absolve Nuland of being swampy or corrupt or being implicated in the death of her critic at the hands of Brandon’s minions in Ukraine.

Where Boned Looser jumps the shark (IMO) is the acceptance of the Vlady narrative on the ouster of Yanulovych. If Ukraine had only remained as a loyal vassal state (such as is Belarus) to the current Kremlin kleptocrats everything would still be peaches and cream (or borscht and ?) There would not have been a need for Russia to sieze Crimea (oops that was in 2008), or foment civil war in Donbas and Luhansk (2014), or invade the rest of Ukraine (that part that was accessable to the world’s second best army) in 2022. If only. If only.

Oh well, The Russian Federation lost another warship today, near the Kerch Straits. Is the Black Sea going to be Russia’s Iron Bottom Sound? Not a exact analogy since Ukraine has no navy (manned anyway).

But Boned Loser and others have to lump everything and every vile Democrat operative and Democrat policy from the past on the shoulders of Ukraine.

It is a curious and ignored fact the President Trump was sending weapons and ordnance to Ukraine for the pre-2022 warfare by Ukraine against Vlad’s minions and proxies in the Donbas and Luhansk. Crickets from Boned Looser and Brain E about this BTW.

  20. This man is brilliant and worth the hour to hear what he has to say about Israel, Hamas, and the current situation as well as the “solution” (hint, none that what would be approved of at Harvard).

My summary, which matches what I’ve concluded since at least the Arab Spring, they have a culture that is completely different and incompatible with ours, and when dealing with barbarians there comes a time when you have to become a barbarian too if you want to survive.

  21. “Trans: When Ideology Meets Reality” author Helen Joyce tells us that Trans is a new cult religion, amounting to the lobotomies crsis of our time. In the first half of the 20th century lobotomies were viewed by medical authorities as the cure-all for a plethora of behavioural and abnormal and criminal and mental Heath problems. Likewise, “Transitioning” is now sold as a cure-all for youth suicide, depression and anxiety, and belonging for all kinds of different sorts like Aspies, feminine boys, and Tom Girls. And typical youth problems with living.

Confirmation of this thesis comes from the NYPost, reporting on new findings from Michael Schellenberger:

“Newly leaked files from the world’s leading transgender health-care organization reveal it is pushing hormonal and surgical transitions for minors, including stomach-wrenching experimental procedures designed to create sexless bodies that resemble department-store mannequins.

“The World Professional Association for Transgender Health documents demonstrate it’s controlled by gender ideologues who push aside concerns about whether children and adolescents can consent to medical treatments that WPATH members privately acknowledge often have devastating and permanent side effects.

“Yet the US government, American doctors and prominent organizations nonetheless rely on WPATH guidelines for advice on treating our youth.

“The files — jaw-dropping conversations from a WPATH internal messaging board and a video of an Identity Evolution Workshop panel — were provided to journalist Michael Shellenberger, who shared the documents with me.

“Shellenberger’s nonprofit Environmental Progress will release a scathing summary report, comparing the WPATH promotion of ‘the pseudoscientific surgical destruction of healthy genitals in vulnerable people’ to the mid-20th-century use of lobotomies, ‘the pseudoscientific surgical destruction of healthy brains.’ “ https://nypost.com/2024/03/04/opinion/secret-files-show-how-international-group-pushes-shocking-experimental-gender-surgery-for-minors/

Just as in olden days, corrupt bureaucracies and medicine become the agents promoting mass human mutilation for our “betterment,” if not salvation.

  22. om, I prefer to ignore you, but when you ask me to respond to President Trump’s supplying anti-tank weapons to Ukraine, I have to respond.

First, what happened in the Maidan revolution is not “narrative”. It’s just fact. Ukraine unconstitutionally removed the legally elected President of Ukraine, following a “Revolution of Dignity” where Yanukovych was threatened with his life if he did not resign. He fled the city when it became clear his life was in danger.

There was an agreement signed by representatives of Poland, Germany, France, opposition members of the Rada and Yanukovych which would have removed ministers from his party from the government, creating a unity government, and calling for early elections. When Right Sector leader Demytro Yarosh rejected the compromise agreement and vowed to attack the legislative building the next day, Yanukovych left Kiev.

The Rada did not follow the constitutionally proscribed method of impeachment, and the vote that did remove him from office was insufficient to have impeached him, had they followed that route.

    This isn’t narrative.

As to President Trump sending anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, I favor a negotiated settlement. I’ve made the case that while Russia did quickly come to the Donbas region’s aid, the separatist movement existed long before any of this. Crimea is another case all together. I’ll even agree Russia was meddling in Ukraine, probably more than we were.

Ukraine would be better off without those regions. The longer the war lasts before a cease fire is negotiated, the more likely Ukraine will continue to lose territory, regardless of whether or not we continue funding the war and Ukraine’s government operations, including government pensions.

As to who was fomenting what, let me remind you of the conversation Nuland had with US ambassador Pyatt deciding who should head up the new Ukraine government. Remember this call occurred weeks before the overthrow of Yanukovych.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-26078465

  23. om, actually in 2018 I totally bought your narrative that it was all Vlad’s fault.

The whole “poor little Ukraine” narrative.

But when I started researching the events, things just didn’t add up. Ukraine’s thuggery was every bit as capable as Russia’s.

    Russia just has more thugs.

  24. Brain E plays the sad trombone for Yanukovych, ignores why President Trump sent arms to help Ukraine, and to top it all off proposes to settle the Russo-Ukraine war in a way that benefits Vlad. But Brain E isn’t in the tank for Vlad.

Poor Ukraine? Poor Russia, empires are hard to recreate or maintain, buy do pitch in Brain E.

Brain E still can’t accept that Yanukovych’s support in those seccessionist oblasts dried up after he called out the snipers. Why indeed, did he have to “flee for his life?” That even a Vladdy toady had an expiration date?

  25. Brian E seems to think that given a Russian level of thugs Ukraine would be taking over Moldova, Belarus, Poland, Hungary, and other neighbors? Based on his deep comprehensive research since 2018? Counterfactual, who has more thugs than Russia?

Funny that one of Vlad’s major Ukrainian phobias was Ukraine turning away from your dear Russia towards Europe in 2014, which Yanukovych acted upon, as a good minion, and contributed to Yanukovych’s ouster (that and the snipers). So by Brain E logic Russia trying to eliminate Ukraine as a country, Vlad’s ultimate end state, Brain E, actually would save Europe from the thuggish Ukrainians. Go Vlad, save Europe?

Any actual facts or history to support that unique view Brain E?

IIRC President Trump was still in office in 2018 but you turned on him in favor of Russia back then? Worse that I had imagined.

  26. This isn’t the thuggish behavior I was referencing, but Ukraine does have an image problem. The dispute over grain exports from Ukraine to the EU countries has been going on for nearly a year and is still not resolved.

“Tensions were on display at the UN General Assembly High-Level Week as Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky referenced the situation during his address at the Sustainable Development Goals summit: “It is alarming to see how some in Europe . . . play out solidarity in a political theatre. . . . They may seem to play their own role, but in fact they are helping set the stage to a Moscow actor.” Facing pressure to support domestic farmers, Polish president Andrzej Duda warned that “it would be good for Ukraine to remember that it receives help from us and to remember that we are also a transit country to Ukraine.” Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki further escalated the dispute during a televised interview when he threatened to revoke military aid to Ukraine, a claim that was quickly walked back by President Duda.”

Yes, Zelensky is under a lot of pressure, but you don’t want to tick off one of your biggest supporters– you keep those differences private.

    More from the article:

“At the time of writing, Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia maintain import bans on Ukrainian agricultural goods despite pressure from the European Union to trust the safeguard mechanisms aimed at preventing EU market disruptions that were announced alongside the ATMs’ extension in late January. Polish farmers, already blockading numerous border crossings with Ukraine and roads throughout their country, began a complete blockade of the Poland-Ukraine border on February 20.”

If you’re any indication, Ukrainians don’t win any style points for tact.

    https://www.csis.org/analysis/fracturing-solidarity-grain-trade-dispute-between-ukraine-and-european-union

  27. om, what is your source for this?:

“…Yanukovych’s support in those seccessionist oblasts dried up after he called out the snipers.”

  28. “WPATH”…
Gonna hafta sue those WackoPaths to oblivion…
…except that they’ll likely be heavily protected by “Biden”’s own psycho henchmen…

  29. More on Trans harm of young from Michael Schellenberger via from not the bee:

    https://notthebee.com/article/wpath-files

    5Mar24

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) is the professional organization that leads the way in forming gender-identity policy for governments, hospitals, and organizations, particularly when it comes to kids.

This group is the “scientific” wing of the trans movement that gives the facade of credibility to the science. It is the organization that will be cited when you take your anxious daughter to the doctor, he immediately diagnoses gender dysphoria, then calls CPS on you because you don’t want a shrink to prescribe hormones and a mastectomy for your child.

CPS will then kick down your door, take your child, put her in a facility, issue a gag order against you, demand you call her by male pronouns, and arrest you if you don’t comply.
    __ __

The crux of Shellenberger’s investigation is that WPATH is all about manufacturing consent from minors [under the guise of medical science] and teaching professionals how to practice on “trans” kids even though they know there is no way children can consent to transgender treatments like puberty blockers and surgery.

WPATH’s internal files, which include written discussions and a video, reveal that its members know they are creating victims and not getting “informed consent.”

Victims include a 10-year-old girl, a 13-year-old developmentally delayed adolescent, and individuals suffering from schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses. The injuries described in the WPATH Files include sterilization, loss of sexual function, liver tumors, and death.

So, that’s what we’re dealing with at WPATH. Let’s dive into the evidence….

  30. The perfect—monstrous—organization for “Biden” and “his” Bash Back Better of WreckerPaths to support.

  31. Brain E:

The poll about the withering of Yanukovych’s support after he called out the snipers was the Encyclopedia Britannia link that I gave you about a week ago. Selective memory, Brain E?

It is curious how Polish truckers block highways but it is Ukrainian thugs, or railcars parked in Poland on a siding have the doors opened, spilling the grain on the ground, but it is Ukrainian thugs again?

Tell us more of your Ukrainian thugs, and their manifest evil.

Ukraine exports of agricultural products are bring contested by EU farmers and the rules that apply to EU teamsters are being contested amongst Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian drivers.

But of course it is all the same as warfare or a Special Military Operation to Brain E? Just like missile attacks on grain export facilities near Odessa by the non-thug Vlad? (sarc x 11)

Beware of Ukrainian thugs, Brain E, they are everywhere, almost like Russian mobsters or diplomats? Dispensers of Novachok.

Time to go to work. Enjoy, Brain E.

  32. Trump kept putin at bay and biden let him roam free

The novichok crew abbot and costellovich killed everyone but the target

I have gotten through most of the raj quartet the first volume was the least interesting one even though it set the players

  33. Trump did keep Vlad cooped up in the largest country in the world, one that still needs to be larger. President Trump supplied arms to the Ukrainians, but Brandon fixed that, even offered Zelinskii the “Brave, brave Sir Robin” option. Brain E appears to think Zelinskii should have run away, like Yanukovych, for Vlad.

  34. It’s just fact. Ukraine unconstitutionally removed the legally elected President of Ukraine,
    ==
The term ‘fact’ does not mean what you fancy it means.

  35. By Brain E logic Nicolae Ceausescu should have never been removed as the leader of Romania?

    It’s just a fact ….

  36. Art Deco.

    Article 108
The powers of the President of Ukraine terminate prior to the expiration of term in
    cases of:
    1. resignation;
    2. inability to exercise his or her powers for reasons of health;
    3. removal from office by the procedure of impeachment;
    4. death.

The Rada removed Yanukovych for abandoning his position- though he was in Kharkiv at the time. I don’t think that procedure is in the constitution.

He wasn’t impeached, which is covered in Article 111 and requires judicial review and a 3/4 vote of the Rada to remove the President.

    https://www.constituteproject.org/constitution/Ukraine_2014.pdf?lang=en

  37. Conservative Former Prime Minister of Australia notices that isolationist right wing Republicans (anyone around here?) have Putin Fascination Syndrome (PFS).

That because Putin is opposed to the far left (woke) he gets loves from isolationist Conservatives even though Conservatives don’t condone murdering political opponents or invading smaller, weaker, neighbors, or at least didn’t used to. The Prime Minister also speculates that such isolationist Conservatives suffering from PFS talk about China being the real threat but won’t stand against China when it moves on Taiwan.

    https://www.spectator.com.au/2024/03/pretty-close-to-evil/

IMO (om) much like the reviled GOPe on domestic issues the isolationist PFS Conservatives will never find a hill worth fighting for.

  38. Good thing that Brain E is an authority on the Ukrainian constitution. If only they had consulted him none of this unpleasantness would have happened. Yanukovych wouldn’t have called in the snipers. Russians wouldn’t have shot down MH 17. Russia wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine in 2022.

    If only. If only.

    Hurbris and arrogance.

  39. well Chinas crawling with Chinese agent, do you take cash credit or check, there was a whole series on Netflix Secret Kingdom about it, he turned his army against the people during the lockdowns, that sounds like a piece of Tien An Men with some sweet and sour sauce, and this did nothing to slow the spread, it just destroyed livelihood, because the citizens are unarmed in Australia, since they fell for the moral panic, including Rupert Murdoch, over Port Arthur,

  40. ee Cervantes:

You could listen to The Telegraph Ukraine The Latest podcast from yesterday in which the ins and outs of Australian Conservative and Labour policies regarding Putin, Ukraine, China, and US politics are discussed.

    Or not.

You really ought to try using “periods” (not the same as commas) in your writing. If you want to be understood.

  41. om, it’s really not that complicated. You just read the words.

If they revolutionaries/rioters had agreed to the compromise worked out with three European countries, opposition parties and Yanukovych, it would have resulted in a unity government and early elections, and none of this would have happened.

  42. ee Cervantes

If you listen to that podcast you would learn that China imposed hudge tarrifs on Australia because they asked China about the origins of the China virus.

Note to ee Cervantes Australia is not the USA, and as regards the China virus only Sweden chose correctly. Golly gee, the elite experts were wrong.

  43. or we could look at what he did, is he better than Albanese, or whatever wallaby the Labour party puts up, yes so is a plate of yegemite, (its too bad Blair is behind the paywall)

we can look at how a minimum of effort kept Putin at bay, and all this huffing and puffing came for naught, who has made out like bandits, Akhmatov and Pinchuk with Kolomoisky, (that was Hunter’s employer, although he fell out of Zelensky’s favor)

  44. Brain E just can’t accept that negotiations take at least two and that Yanukovych called in the snipers.

    Events, Brain E, events.

Problems are often quite easily solved (Hubris) from a distance, if you aren’t involved, and in hindsight.
