  1. At our house at Thanksgiving we had two dogs, a five-year-old girl, and a dad and grandpa diving into leaf piles. So much fun!

  2. I remember him posting that, and how much fun I had watching this joyous video. Thank you, again, Gerard!

  3. Labs are favorite breed of dog with their fun loving positive energy. Labrador retrievers were bred for running and jumping into bodies of water to retrieve waterfowl that’s been shot out of the sky by their master. So it makes sense that Stella would delight in running and jumping into a pile of leaves.

  4. Meanwhile, we’ve got Biden’s “discombobulated garage” full of classified docs stolen by a vice president vs Trump’s presidential docs locked in a secure facility.

Compare/contrast – especially the media spin.

For all we know, Hunter could’ve used parts of The Big Guy’s stash for rolling papers. Fortunately, he’s on harder stuff.

  5. I imagine some commenters here might have watched Tucker Carlson’s interview with Putin. Did anyone? Were Carlson’s questions incisive? Was Putin honest or believable? Did Carlson ask about the return of Americans held as political prisoners in Russian prisons?

  6. I dunno…the thing that made me laugh out loud was that in so many of the jumps the only thing of her left that you could see was the tail, wagging like crazy.

Thank the gods that there are still people who take the time and make the effort to rake up a humongous pile of leaves for the sole purpose of having their dog jump into ’em.

  7. So, reading only headlines at the Daily Mail, it appears Carlson didn’t do a very good job and let Putin dominate. I’m not sure I care enough to follow up in detail.

  8. No doubt we’ll see something authoritative at this site soon – possibly very soon.

  9. that was the major news that came out of it, the rest is about his mindset, which is a very Russian imperial one, now the fact that Nordstream did turn out to be active operation on behalf of Ukraine, conditions what his response will be,

had Western Europe properly armed itself, had not given Putin the Energy Weapons as have their comrades across the ocean, he wouldn’t have the resources to do what he has done,

  10. I’m entirely bemused by the whole Putin/Carson interview. First of all, an interview with Putin just seems so pointless to me. Why interview an authoritarian strongman? What did Carlson expect Putin to say that’s actually interesting or revealing and not either a complete fabrication or at best a very narraw interpretation of events? To me it seems like anyone who has been paying attention these past few years should know what Putin’s likely views are and his true motivations. And anything that Putin would be willing to say on camera to a Western reporter is going to be carefully curiated and contrived. So who cares?

  11. Noting when the doggie video was posted by Gerard: November, 2020 – a different world. Soon thereafter, an administration that drives it like they stole it.

  12. and yet in the 20 years leading up to the Ukraine invasion, reporters pretended not to hear what he was saying, that seems rank folly, much as the West has ignored the Ayatollah and his proxies, to great dismay, as to our internal enemies who are at war with every sinew of not only political system, but our identity as a culture, well we sloughed that off,

  13. China killed a million of our people, and comparable numbers in nearly every country, they are committed to support Putin to the hilt, they lap up every drop of Saudi and Iranian crude, they brainwash the next generation to madness through tiktok, they send an advance battalion through the border, thanks to Mayorkas,

  14. Yesterday was a sad infuriating day on the climate front. Mann won his defamation suit against Steyn and Simberg. Not exactly unexpected in a DC court, but still a blow.

Worse, Steyn got clobbered with a $1mil in damages. Steyn expects that to be overturned by the Supreme Court. We’ll see.

  15. well it wasn’t allowed as evidence, what garbage were the jurors marinating it,

  16. However, what I had not heard before was the genuine, irrevocable damage Michael Mann had done to Judith Curry by calling her a “serial climate disinformer”:
    _____________________________________________

Prior to this article, Mann had said a lot of very bad things about me. But this is the one that destroyed my academic career. I first spotted this article on Georgia Tech’s daily news feed, that highlights all the mentions of Georgia Tech in the media. A link to Mann’s huffington post article appeared near the top of the news feed, including the serial climate disinformer quote. For the first time in my life, I had the sensation of my heart falling to the floor. This news feed is emailed to all Georgia tech students, faculty members, administrators, alumni and donors. At the time I was under consideration for an appointment in the higher administration at Georgia Tech, I was one of three finalists for the position. Well this was definitely game over for that appointment.

That day, as I was trying to evaluate the fallout from this, I googled my name. The first page of the google search was filled with Judith Curry climate denier, judith curry science misinformer, Judith Curry climate heretic and so on. My first reaction was that this is really bad for Georgia tech’s brand. My second thought was that all this also made me unhirable at any other university. My third thought was that Michael mann’s destruction of my reputation and academic career was now complete. This is what real damage to someone’s career looks like.

I have my heroes. Mark Steyn and Judith Curry are two. Michael Mann is on a different list.

  17. We were listening to the WH Atty’s comments on the report from yesterday. He is a true disciple of Goebbels. Repeat a lie often enough and people believe it. In this case once is enough for the True Believers in Biden. Disgusting

  18. huxley:

I think perhaps Curry should sue Mann for defamation. Just not in DC.

By the way, I just put up a thread about the Steyn/Mann case a few minutes ago.

  19. I think perhaps Curry should sue Mann for defamation. Just not in DC.

    neo:

I hope so. I just don’t know how that game works or if it works anymore.

  20. The end made me laugh out loud in joyous surprise. Stella’s eyes and nose peeking out of what seemed to be just a pile of leaves, full of dog after all, waiting motionless after all that happy leaping. Such pleasure. Set politics aside, be a dog, leap into leaves, be alive! Go Stella. Show us how.

  21. That’s an adorable video! I loved jumping into leaves as a child, but I never had a pile that big.

  22. To kill time while waiting for Neo’s definitive take, I spotted these two hors d’oeuvres:

Observations From Tucker Carlson’s Interview With Putin

And on Wikipedia: The Vladimir Putin Interview

In the Domestic Response section of the latter:

Former U.S. representative Adam Kinzinger referred to Carlson as a “traitor”, while representative Marjorie Taylor Greene praised Carlson’s decision. The former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton described Carlson as a “useful idiot”; the phrase is erroneously attributed to Vladimir Lenin, the first leader of the Soviet Union. On MSNBC, Clinton furthered her criticism of Carlson by stating there are individuals who serve as a “fifth column” for Putin, alluding to Carlson
