Signs of hostage life: Naama Levy and others — 11 Comments

  1. I really don’t think any are alive at this point. If they are, they soon might not be. Hard to take, but – – –

  2. My feeling is hostages released will dwindle, saw a Israeli news on YouTube 135 hostages are still unaccounted for, around 19 are women, 2 children.
Sure they are being mistreated at best, tortured and murdered at worse.

  3. I think I heard that of the 135, nineteen have been declared dead. I pray for their return. Since their captors do not know God truly, I’m afraid the hostages’ chances of living through this are slim. But, as Neo says, dead hostages are worth nothing to Hamas.

  4. I’m going to assume the worst & continue to pray for the best.
The level of barbarity displayed by Hamas leaves me only wondering how swiftly their justice before God will come.

  5. Kate, dead hostages are definitely worth something to Hamas, just not as much as live ones. It is important to Israelis to get murdered relatives back and bury them properly.

  6. Kate:

I didn’t say that dead hostages are worth nothing to Hamas. This is what I wrote:

Dead hostages are still worth something to Hamas – Israel and the families want the remains in order to properly bury them, and Hamas can keep trying to claim that the hostages were actually killed by Israel. But there is no question in my mind that living hostages are much more valuable to Hamas.

  7. I’ve believed that living hostages who provide evidence of abuse may be worth less to Hamas than dead hostages who can no longer provide that evidence, but given the “see no evil, hear no evil” posture against Israel, now I’m not so sure.

A weird scenario where pessimism and optimism meet?

  8. I stand corrected. It seems, in this chaotic situation, that Hamas will not be saving dead bodies for delivery for ransom.

  9. My son was in an honor guard for a military funeral today for a soldier who was killed on October 7. He had been buried some time ago, because, as my son put it, they had found body parts that you can’t live without. But this week soldiers uncovered additional body parts that were determined to belong to that soldier.
May he rest in peace and may his blood be avenged.
