  1. npr. Yikes! I listened to them for decades and noticed them veering more and more into biased coverage in the 2000s and eventually stopped listening altogether.

Ace’s site has a brief mention of this incident. It’s just a brief quote, so I’m not even sure what the post’er at Ace’s take is, but I followed the link to the npr report: https://www.npr.org/2023/09/19/1200145239/alabama-band-director-tased-by-police-for-not-stopping-his-students-performance

What gosh awful reporting. The npr report mentions that the police made bodycam footage available and the video is linked, in npr’s coverage, but npr’s reporting does not correspond with the actual video footage at all. NPR’s coverage is completely one sided. The reporter only quotes the aggrieved band director when, in the bodycam footage one can see that at least some of his testimony is not true. If you end up watching the bodycam video there is no sound for the first 30 minutes (and the video explains that).

I have no idea what happened, but the npr report of what happened is abysmal.

  2. Wow… that’s fun… made me wake up with a smile for the day…. would love to see the girls go up against the US ladies soccer team… LOL

  3. NPR this morning ran with a report about the impeachment inquiry that sounded very thorough… until you realized that the words “suspicious activity reports” or “bank records” were replaced by “no evidence”.

I’d say they’ve decided to go all-in on the not-a-shred message, and are assuming that as long as they don’t say the words, the evidence doesn’t exist! It’s hard to see how they’re going to explain this omission in retrospect.

Of course they are cunningly using the Dem’s previous snap impeachments as indications that they had evidence, and the present plodding approach as an indication there isn’t any. NPR listeners are pretty easy to fool!

  4. Banned Lizard – ‘Demonstrations’ like that make me wonder… how many are ‘real’ students and how many are ‘paid activists’. Sorta like a rowdy ‘spring break’ crowd … how many are what. Not that it makes a difference.

  5. Over the past three years, I’ve noted three leftist buzz terms used exclusively when the exact opposite is true: “baseless”, “unfounded”, and “without evidence”. Although interchangeable, the first two pertain mainly to observed election fraud, and the last to documented Biden crime syndicate operations.

  6. cb…Oh sweet Lord.
We have so gone over the deep end of depravity…
“‘Are they ashamed of their disgusting actions? Not at all—they don’t even know how to blush! Therefore, they will lie among the slaughtered. They will be brought down when I punish them,’ says the Lord.” – Jeremiah 6:15

I do note the chyron that says “revised design in the works”. Uh-huh I bet…

  7. A changer and prolific writer:

I started this Substack around 2020 because I found I could no longer speak out about what I believed was happening in our country and world. I am a former Democrat, now independent, and I do not consider myself affiliated with any political group.

I have been online since 1994 and have a substantial online footprint. But my perspective changed completely in the Summer of 2020 and there was no going back.

I have one daughter, who is the light of my life and has moved out. I have two doggies. At the moment, I’m not entirely sure where my life is headed. I’m sort of making it up as I go.

I write more about the populist Right than any other political party because I feel they lack representation and have been dehumanized and demonized by my former side.

We were never the resistance. We were always the empire.

  8. Well that’s kind of where it got started, and it may be too hard to conceive of a statue of a needle and a vien.

And of course the left was all in with head coverings inspired by or modeled on specific female anatomy in early 2021.

  9. Banned Lizard:

Please don’t forget my personal favorite: “debunked,” which refers to anything the right or Donald Trump says.

  10. I have a question about twitter/x.

I do not have an account, but a lot of people link to X and I often follow the links to the site. Used to be I could also scroll down and read the comments to the tweet. They no longer show up; just empty space below. I’ve looked online several times for instructions to view comments. All information is you click on the tweet text or date/time stamp and the comments show up. The text is not clickable for me. The time stamp is, but clicking on it does nothing.

Has anyone else noticed this change? I always go there via a browser. The behavior is identical in Chrome, Duck, Duck, Go and Firefox.

  11. RFT not sure I know the full backstory on ‘X’, but a few months ago, before the transition to ‘X’, Elon declared that his site was being swept by competing social media sites, lots of bots. This is about the time that the new Zuckerberg product was released (forgot what it was called, ‘Threads’ or something) and they were apparently just scooping up tons of data on Twitter users to lure them away. Chinese bots apparently mining at the same scale, for no doubt nefarious reasons too.

So Musk shut access to combat that. Initially, the wall was complete: If you didn’t have an account, you couldn’t access anything. Shortly after that, ‘X’ re-branding was launched and then account holders could start linking specific posts outside of the ‘X’ platform, which is pretty much where it stands now. If you don’t have an account, you can see Twitter or ‘X’ users and some of their selected post, but not all, and no timelines. Very limited functionality if you are not an account holder.

I haven’t ever had a Twitter or ‘X’ account, there is some amusing and occasionally insightful content there, but it would be a huge time eater for me, and I object to Elon bending the User experience to his own particular criteria instead of keeping it wide open to all, which was his original declared intent. He’s now floating the idea of a monthly subscription for all Users, not just those wanting the prestige of ‘Blue’ credentials. I can understand that he’s facing the realities of advertising revenue shortfall (apparently a focused directed campaign by the Progressive Leftist Borg to intimidate the big corporate advertisers away, as they did with Fox and others). Good luck to him, I hope he ends up with a successful model and that users get a good experience – but I’m not interested.

  12. As for the video:

Interesting and cool choreography. Brilliant precision.

I love watching this kind of thing – and baton twirling.

  13. Rufus:

That’s what having an account gets you, thread depth. Otherwise it’s much like a newspaper’s single paragraph topic blurb.

  14. cb:

The woke argument is that it doesn’t change their gender, it merely confims their real gender and conforms to their real gender.

  15. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

The long legged ballerinas in rhythmic gymnastics are the most beautiful women in competitive sports.

Their skill & co-ordination borders on the impossible.

  16. Yikes! What did I just watch? Ever wonder what those girls talk a out when they’re sitting around waiting for their turn on stage?

  17. Barry Meislin:

Milei looks like a black swan right now, but Argentina has a way of turning the most unlikely people into Peronistas after a while. I like what he’s saying now, but don’t expect him or his schtick to last. We will see.
