  1. It says it does so by “pressuring companies such as X Corp. to remove, demonetize, or deprioritize constitutionally-protected speech that the State deems undesirable or harmful,” and “places an unjustified and undue burden” on social media companies like X.

Congress shall make no law…. and so it didn’t. Just a bunch of chairwarmers in Wash DC getting a bit big for their britches.

Time to get a better swamp-draining contractor.

  2. I’ve heard that Nancy Pelosi is second to none when it comes to extracting large quantities of money from deep pocketed Dem donors. It’s very selfless of her to run again in order to help out her evidently charm challenged donkey compatriots who without her wouldn’t be able to raise anywhere near enough filthy lucre to cover the expense of armies of ballot harvesting drones needed for 2024.

  3. Typo alert – 2 paragraphs duplicated into 4 for Musk.

I think X (ex-Twitter) will agree to censor speech that is not covered by the First Amendment. I’d be happy for them to say “no” unless the state is claiming, thru an indictment, that the speaker is “inciting violence” or some other way abusing the speech.

  4. Re: Lujan Grisham

I guess she already knows she can’t really enforce that ban. How much sense does a 30-day ban make practically?

The ban will probably be over before it can be ruled against in court.

But Grisham doesn’t mind pushing the envelope as a probe and as virtue signaling for the cause.

I don’t see any of this stops until the perps start paying.

  5. Boned Looser:

Try some actual news sources for a change, not just RT.

Actual news isn’t hard to find, The Telegraph has a daily one hour podcast just about the Russo Ukraine war.

    But you be you.

Ukrainians are taking bacthe ground around Bakhmut Roosias only success from this year. Miss that development?

  6. ”Ukraine’s counter-offensive is stalling. The West must prepare for humiliation.”

Stalling? They’ve advanced to within ten miles of Tokmak, placing the rail line that runs through it within range of ordinary artillery. That rail line is the primary means of supply for both Crimea and the southern front.

Russia doesn’t do logistics like America does. Their logistics is primarily rail-based. Losing that rail line would be a significant defeat for Russia.

  7. McCarthy at NR suggests that Grisham could be charged with conspiracy to deprive rights under the same statute and theory as Trump in Smith’s J6 indictment.

I say, have at it. I doubt that Republicans are going to control the DOJ for at least the next five years and probably longer, but is there a similar NM statute? Is there a local NM prosecutor willing to indict?

Not that it would do any good, though, frankly. You would have every “light” of the legal profession going on TV and writing to explain how the situation with Trump is totally different and that the Republican prosecutor is grossly abusing his or her power. What would the public believe? I’m not optimistic.

  8. On Ukraine’s counter-offensive – I don’t think any of us really know what is going on. The mainstream press is utterly biased on the pro-Ukraine side. People like Richard Kemp are completely biased the other way.

The only thing that I’m confident about is that there is a lot of death and destruction. Beyond that, little would surprise me.

  9. ConcernedConservative™ can’t be bothered to pay attention to the Russio-Ukraine war; hence the bromides.

  10. colonel kemp is a sincere man, but I happen to think this is folly, if you’ve read even a little Russian history, you know how bloody the Caucasus are,

it’s amusing the witch went after Lindsay, and that was one step too far for dashiki willis,

  11. om – Pay attention to who? Which sources? It’s not a matter of “paying attention.” It’s more about paying attention and taking everything with a grain of salt.

And frankly, you’re a heck of a lot closer to the “Concerned ConservativeTM” position on this particular issue.

  12. yes, who will bell the cat when it comes Gresham, bueller bueller,

remember the scandal there was over David Iglesias because he wouldn’t indict Bill Richardson, even though there was plenty of evidence,

jack smith takes one meeting from one donor, and wraps up everyone in mcdonnell’s circle, including cuccinelli,

  13. Is the Concerned Conservative™ confident regarding who started this war?

This is supposed to be a happy occassion!

Astounding that lots of people are being killed since Vlad started this frolic.

  14. Meanwhile,
Ukraine’s counter-offensive is stalling. The West must prepare for humiliation

Thanks for the wishcast. We’re all educated.

  15. Putting together a few items on US rural culture for some Swedish folks. I always knew we elected county sheriffs. They aren’t hired by the county government. It’s a separate election and function.
It provides, for those who think about it, a separate and local autonomy in matters of law enforcement. Hadn’t put that together before, living in crowded counties awash with law enforcement of various agencies and levels.

I recall reading that, after Illinois passed some stupid gun law, one hundred out of one hundred two county sheriffs announced they wouldn’t enforce it.

Whether it’s guns or something else, we have at least the feeling of separate checks on government susceptible to local culture through separate elections.

It’s considerably more important in rural counties.

  16. Even as the resident optimist here I’m surprised at the pushback Grisham has gotten. Gratified too.

Love the title on this article:

–“The Morning Briefing: Gov. Lujan Grisham Is All Alone on a Commie Gun-Grabber Island”
    https://pjmedia.com/columns/stephen-kruiser/2023/09/13/the-morning-briefing-gov-luhan-grisham-is-all-alone-on-a-commie-gun-grabber-island-n1726535

I think the commies have gotten ahead of their skis. (Like the Big Island of Hawaii, Commie Island is big enough and high enough to ski on.)

  17. you aren’t supposed to say the silent thing aloud, of if you do you need a news peg like one of those fbi drones, that go astry,
