  1. Did they do the full SWAT-type approach? Did Robertson fire back at them? I wonder whether we’ll ever learn.
    ______

Never. It will become one more of their “ongoing investigations” which Liar Wray will keep secret.

  2. I realize he’s got Secret Service protection, but I am worried about someone assassinating Trump. Authorities had to follow up on this threat against Biden, which I do not condone. I do wonder how practical a threat this was, given the man’s condition.

  3. A neighbor recorded part of the scene on a cell phone. It looks like the feds made a big production out of the pre-dawn Robertson raid. They did have to act on the tip, but this could all have been handled differently. I don’t know if they went in heavy like this and killed the man to send a message. Maybe the local agents were lax, or just careful and conscientious, and some higher-up decided that with Biden in the area it was necessary to act immediately and forcefully. I would be surprised if we found out much more about this and got to see the official videos.

I’m hoping for more information, but my first reaction is that the FBI effed up. Again.

  5. I am worried about someone assassinating Trump.

    Kate:

Ditto. I fear 2024 is the new 1968.

    LBJ declines to run
    Martin Luther King Jr. assassinated
    MLK riots.
    Robert F. Kennedy assassinated
    Democratic National Convention riots

Things are ugly. As far as I’m concerned, just about anything can happen between now and the 2024 election. Mostly not good.

  6. Message sent; they will kill you in the Capitol, or they will kill you in Provo. “We’re from the federal government, and we’re here to bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, …. reload, ….. bang, bang, bang, you.

Nothing to see, as it is a continuing investigation.

  7. huxley and om…both spot on.
I hate how low we’ve allowed this ship to sink…refloat will take some doing.

  8. I’m so old I remember when I would have given the FBI the benefit of the doubt in explaining what happened. Now I assume they screwed up and are lying.

The hatred and nastiness of liberals just keeps ratcheting higher. On twitter from Ann Bauer:

Meghna Chakrabarti on @NPR discussing the fact that Republicans don’t trust higher education because so many of them “don’t know anyone who’s ever been to college.”

    Democrats gonna Democrat.

  9. The Band’s Robbie Robertson has died. RIP.
    –neo

Robbie Roberts reconnected with his Native American roots in the 90s and recorded a couple albums out of that. Not to any great impact in the larger world.

The Band’s first two albums, “Music From Big Pink” (1968) and “The Band,” (1968) were almost entirely written by Robertson and were quite extraordinary in the writing, arranging and playing.

So much so that Rolling Stone magazine started beating the drums that The Band was the Second Coming of Bob Dylan. Of course, they weren’t. No one ever lived up to that promotion.

However, as great as those first two albums were, it was mostly downhill from there. I’m not sure why. Maybe they needed Bob Dylan around as a mentor. Maybe it was the drugs — The Band members were far more out of control in that regard than one might suspect from their super-tight, old-timey sound. Maybe they only had two great albums in them, or Robbie Robertson anyway.

Because Robertson was the main songwriter, he ended up with most of The Band’s royalties, which became an understandable point of contention. I side with the other members that their full contributions, especially Garth Hudson’s, weren’t recognized in that money split.

Robertson was Martin Scorcese’s roommate for a number of years and did the music for some Scorcese films, including “Raging Bull.”

Robertson starred in “Carny” with Gary Busey and Jodie Foster, an underrated film IMO, worth a look if you get the chance.

  10. We will learn the identity of the White House cocaine stash owner before we know the circumstances of the SWAT killing of Craig Robertson, which is to say never.

  11. Reports are the fibbers used a kind of tank with a ram.

Guy was active in his church and could have been picked up in the parking lot, or shopping. But, like the ATF at Waco….wanted to make a statement.

  12. Stan, well she might be right on our case. Wife and I have Masters Degrees, and a little more besides. We are not Republicans because the CO Republican party left us. Conservative though. My neighbors are all College grads, several with higher degrees and they are Rep.

huxley, I was a Sr in HS in ’63 and a Sr in College in ’68. Terrible, bad years. I hope there are no repeats, on either side.

  13. huxley, you wrote The Band’s first two albums, “Music From Big Pink” (1968) and “The Band,” (1968) were almost entirely written by Robertson.

Per wiki, of the 11 songs on Big Pink, Robertson has 4 solo credits, Richard Manuel, has 3 solo credits & 1 co-credit (with Dylan), Dylan has 1 solo credit and another co-credit (with Rick Danko), and the Johnny Cash cover “Long Black Veil” was written by Marijohn Wilkin and Danny Dill.

On the 2nd album Robertson had solo credits for 9 of the 12 songs, and co-credits on the others. Levon Helm was quoted saying that their songs were collaborative and credit was supposed to be shared, and the other members were shocked when the album came out and they saw that Robertson had most of the writing credits.
    https://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/The+Band+(album)

I saw them at a festival in Illinois, and the crowd was leaving, then Dylan came out and did a few songs with them. I think it was his first appearance since his motorcycle accident.

I also saw another show where, according to Robertson’s memoir, another Band member started a song but was too wasted to hold the tempo, so Robertson stopped him and counted down the tempo and restarted it. The crowd just thought it was show business and started clapping along, and the other member stopped playing and snarled “We’ll keep time! Just dig it if you can!”

  14. The Band’s first two albums, “Music From Big Pink” (1968) and “The Band,” (1968) were almost entirely written by Robertson

Read Levon Helm’s book ‘This Wheel’s on Fire’, and see if he doesn’t describe the collegiality in compositions and arrangements, and the single-handed registry of rights to Robertson.

  15. Yes, I only found out today that Robbie Robertson had a long collaboration with Martin Scorcese and wrote the music for many of his films. As noted above he co-starred in (and produced and co-wrote) Carny, a film based on his early days on the carnival circuit. I’m not big on carny life and at the time the world was down on Jodie Foster, because of Pretty Baby, but I just might watch the movie sometime.

  16. The Deseret News article, which is very straight-forward reporting, makes it clear that the FBI, in addition endangering the surrounding neighbors (look at the pictures), did not allow sufficient time for an elderly, obese, mobility-impaired man, awakened by yelling at 6 am, to even get to the door as ordered before they opened fire.
It is in no way clear that he fired on them first, or at all.

There was no physical need to do anything but have a couple of officers pick him up outside the house.

It was not a SWAT team: it was a hit squad.

And we will never know the facts.

  17. A jailed Trump v. a dead Trump – while I suspect either would satisfy the bloodlust of the average Democrat voter, and be a powerful signal for the establishment in putting down the deplorables, a jailed Trump can still speak out.

  18. When do the FBI raid Madonna’s home and kill her? She said she wanted to blow up the White House. What about Johnny Depp?? He wanted to know if it were time for an actor to kill the President. What is up with the FBI raiding homes and killing people?? Reminiscent of Ruby Ridge.

  19. or kathy griffith, that eldritch thing, maybe it happened when he was hanging with amber heard, one of his many failures of judgement

another example of not learning a lesson, bob mcdonnell not denouncing jack smith sufficiently to my likings, saying well it will be hard to run the primaries, with all these trials, really bob

Though kind of funny that we are now in the early stages of the switch over that is familiar to families that have gone through it… look to Germany, racists running out the other party, using courts and corruption, all for the left, making one party state with race as foundational, etc. Race nearly got them the country before, honed with the modern ideas from german, race and communism have succeeded…

lots of little things that are not quite making your radar (by design)
    quite interesting..

    hope yall are ready

  21. in brazil they were sloppier, they stabbed bolsonaro, but he survived with one lung and even a bout of covid,

  22. Guy was active in his church and could have been picked up in the parking lot, or shopping. But, like the ATF at Waco….wanted to make a statement.

Exactly ! I saw the neighbor video. Small scale Waco. If you want to see hate, look at the letters to the local Tucson AZ newspaper. College town with typical politics. Too much hate. One reason Biden gets away with his grift is that 90% of the politicians of both parties do the same in DC.

  23. That someone assassinated him suggests he was over the target. OTOH, he appeared to be placing 4th in a field of 8 candidates. The parties of the right are not contesting the election. One of the candidates (not the deceased) has won the support of the Social Christian Party; the rest are leftists.

  24. Feminists’ Fear and Loathing of Their Own Sons
    ==
Most mothers scrape by with 51% in raising boys. This dame adds a layer of gross foolishness to the usual poor performance. If she’s fortunate, her son as an adult will put up with her and her daughter-in-law won’t cut her to ribbons too often.

  25. Scorsese also made a documentary about The Band’s last concert called The Last Waltz (1978). It’s not my cup of tea, but if people like the music they may want to check it out.

  26. Kate on August 10, 2023 at 5:31 pm

I am more than a little worried about an assignation of Joe also. There would be nothing that would make the Democrats happier. It would work so well for them that that I would not be surprised if they do it themselves. They were able to blame the right for JFK when a serious communist was the obvious culprit. It would be even easier now.
