Fashion tracks our decline — 30 Comments

  1. There’s a cringeworthy interview that Playboy did with luggage thief Sam Brinton a few years back that presents the subject dressed in a plum-colored outfit set off with some kind of pseudo-ethnic silver jewelry. Brinton boasts that he gets to clack along the marble halls of Congress in stiletto heels (camera shows that the shoes are decorated with the Stars and Stripes), and exults in the freedom he has to do his thing, including getting married to another man (Kevin Rieck, for what that’s worth).

The video is almost as effective an emetic as syrup of ipecac.

  2. I never watch any of the awards shows, but I do see pictures on the main page at the Daily Mail. Other than the country music awards, women’s “fashion” no longer aims to make the women wearing the outfits beautiful or elegant. Most of the women look like hookers, and many of the outfits are just plain ugly. Jamie Lee Curtis looked good at the Oscars. I can’t think of others offhand, although there may have been a few.

To what audience is the man with breast implants advertising? I can’t imagine that heterosexual men actually want to look at what they know perfectly well is entirely fake. Is this for the gay male market?

And you’re right about the emaciated redhead in that article. The other image that is frequently seen on the Daily Mail is females with butt implants, breast implants, and puffy lip injections. Again, do normal guys really like that?

  3. “The red-headed model is apparently a biological woman, but she looks as though she is quite literally starving.”

Boss that was my first impression too…girl needs a good burger & fries!
I find this trans-mass-formation-psychosis desperately sad…to the point of praying for the parousia in earnest.

The West truly has lost its way…akin to Judges 17:6 & 21:25

  4. Kate says, “The other image that is frequently seen on the Daily Mail is females with butt implants, breast implants, and puffy lip injections. Again, do normal guys really like that?”

FWIW, the guys are increasingly getting lip injections and Brazilian butt lifts (BBLs) for themselves. Lip injection info. for men here: https://aedit.com/aedition/guide-to-lip-filler-for-men

Dr. Maercks also offers what he calls “intimate enhancements” for men:

Not gonna speculate as to what those “enhancements” might involve. . . .

  5. “Schafer is a trans woman – that is, a biological male who identifies as a woman.”

How about instead of accepting the BS claim that he “identifies” as a woman, we make a concerted effort to say, “a biological male who presents himself as a woman.”

  6. Things don’t affect people the way they used to. I mean it may very well be that 10 years from now people will pay $10,000 in cash to be castrated just in order to be affected by something.

–Andre Gregory, “My Dinner with Andre” (1981)

  7. Our fashionista elite may actually have done it… surpassed ancient Rome’s decadence. The article’s two ‘models’ perfectly illustrate the West’s cultural decline.

  8. i think they are just summoning cthluthu, to put us out of our misery,

  9. Almost the entire internet has become one big clown show. I never see any of these weerdities out here in reality world. They are a figment of the AI trapped right there in that black box on my desk and all I have to do is push a button and it all disappears again.

If, perchance, I am wrong, and any of the characters in clown world show up here at the compound they will find out pretty quick that the “off” button is a real thing.

  10. It depresses me that so many care so little about their appearance, but, it seems it was ever thus. At least in my lifetime.

I am absolutely dumbfounded by the trend of women and girls going out in public with “yoga pants” that are nothing more than skin tight, colored stretchy-cloth reflecting their precise anatomy. It seems like when the trend first started the majority wore an oversized top with the pants that covered their legs down to their knees, or thereabouts. Sort-of like they were on their lunchbreak from acting in an off broadway production of “Robinhood, Prince of Thieves.” But over time fewer and fewer bothered with the oversized top so now every inch of their anatomy is visible.

I am a great fan of the female form, but I feel nothing but pity when I see women in public dressed in those pants. Such an odd behavior.

  11. Kate ~ “I can’t imagine that heterosexual men actually want to look at what they know perfectly well is entirely fake.” Indeed, and even those who apparently do will prefer Japanese sex dolls. If you’re into fake, go all the way.

  12. I notice that the “You’re a transphobe-man if you won’t date a trans-woman” strategy hasn’t gained much traction, or trans-action, even on the left.

    Funny about that.

    Rufus T. Firefly:

    It’s the Age of Hypergamy.

Freed by the Pill and feminism from the bonds of “Keep Your Knees Together and Get a Good Man You Can Raise a Family With,” most modern women are now competing for the top 5-20% of attractive males based on looks and money.

It’s not a game where modesty works.

It’s also not a game which makes women happy either, but that’s another story.

Well, since a third of the cloth is missing, it should only cost $12.99, not $18.99.

  15. I think Twiggy was the bellwether for the ‘woman looks like a ten year old boy’ thing.

I clearly remember the first time I saw a photo of her. I physically jolted, seeing the bones of her knees so stark.

About the only difference between today and Heroin Chic is the lack of black eye sockets.

  16. I always knew Frank would end up in bed with a boy.

  17. huxley,

I don’t think female evolutionary strategies have changed in the past half century, or so. Hypergamy has been around for eons.

I think part of it is women mis-reading what men like. In the ’70s, when I started noticing women on magazine covers were looking more like boys my theory was that there were a lot of gay men in the fashion industry and photography and they were transposing their attractions onto the female form. I still think that may be correct. Women see the magazines and the ads and compete to look like that because that’s the competition that is being presented.

Second is a complete disregard for propriety. Men used to tend towards vulgarity and women used to be the check that kept the men in line. Feminism tells women that acting like men is the sine quo non of existence, so there is no longer any check on our basest instincts. Mothers now dress as trashy or trashier than their daughters. And fathers dress like adolescent boys.

It is sad that we give our young people little to strive towards.

  18. The rise of trans-women and their acceptance as being legit females is an affront to real women.
Saw a video of that trans -women that is now a Bud Light spokes-near-human; I have never seen a real female act the way he acts when he is portraying how -in his F’d up mind – a real female acts.

Meanwhile all those “women’s right’s groups” remain totally silent as men making believe they are not men, participate in women’s sporting events.

Speaking of women’s sports; for the first time ever I watched the NCAA women’s basketball finalists – Iowa State in this instance – play.
Let’s just say, they were / are damn good; check out Caitlen Clark !!
Never thought I would say that about women’s basketball.
They lost in the final to Louisville though.

Anyway, it’s only a matter of time that a transgender women life forms decide to crash that party – women’s college basketball – and totally F that up too.

The only way this is going to end is if women simply refuse to participate in any sport’s event in which men-making-believe-they- are -not -men show up.

I am not holding my breath.

    JohnTyler:

Sorry, I can’t resist mailing in a few corrections. Hope you’re not too put off by it.

I grew up in Iowa, though I haven’t been back in many years. I also grew up playing basketball, and have been watching the Iowa women’s games since Caitlin Clark arrived. She’s a truly extraordinary player, who’s been compared to both Steph Curry and Larry Bird.

If not for Caitlin Clark, I’d never watch women’s basketball. By the way, she plays for Iowa (The University of Iowa), not Iowa State (Iowa State University). Those are two very different schools.

Iowa defeated Louisville, but that was in their Elite Eight game. In their semifinal game (the “Final Four”), they beat the heavily favored, number-one ranked, previously unbeaten University of South Carolina. Unfortunately, in the Championship game, Iowa lost to LSU (Louisiana State University). Despite the loss, Caitlin Clark set quite a few records, and was clearly the best player in the tournament.

I’m not a fan of women’s sports, but Clark and the Iowa team are the opposite of the sexual decadence exemplified by the Weimar Republic and the New York fashion industry. Unfortunately, women’s college basketball and pro basketball (WNBA) are both dominated by black lesbians. This has been true for decades. The Democrats have realized this and have been busily trying to attach themselves to women’s basketball in general, and Caitlin Clark in particular. (Happily, I know absolutely nothing about Clark’s sexuality.) The Democrats obsession with LGBTetc. also explains the necessity of Biden’s outrageous prisoner exchange, with Russia, for Brittney Griner (black, lesbian, anti-American, WNBA). Sadly, there’s no part of our lives, public or private, that has escaped the totalitarian urges of the Democratic Party and their partners in Woke.

  20. Cornflour:

Thanks much for the corrections; I really do appreciate that you took the time to correct me.

I was unaware that women’s college and WNBA basketball was dominated by black lesbians. Until just the other day I had never watched a college women’s basketball game.

I have never watched – nor do I intend to – any WNBA games; that simply does not interest me.

What really caught my attention was the play of Caitlin Clark and her teammates; their basketball skills are exceptional, esp. their three point shots and her play making and passing skills. She makes the entire team a better team.

If what you say is true about the make-up of the WNBA, I suspect that Caitlin will have a very rough go of it if she decides (or if she is drafted) by any WNBA team.
This would really be a shame.

Perhaps the EuroLeague Women’s League could be a better option for her.

  21. There is no such thing as a trans man or a trans woman. It is made up language to manipulate people. There is such a thing as a mentally ill delusional man who imagines himself a woman but that doesn’t make him a trans anything. Anyone who believes a he can transition to a she also need therapy.

That Bud Light spokes-near-human is now modeling activewear for Nike Women:

It’s bad enough that people praised Dylan Mulvaney for making it 365 days of being a “girl.” Nike Women decided to have Mulvaney, a biological male, as a spokesman for the company’s new activewear, including sports bras.

This is probably my biggest disappointment because it concerns products made for a biologically female body. Mulvaney had plastic surgery, but how do you expect me to believe your product will support me when I exercise when all I see is a man with small and fake breasts? Let’s have a biological male with extremely skinny legs and no butt model yoga leggings. It’s worse than having the skinniest female model advertise this stuff.
