That was bad.
Structurally… well, I can’t critique the structure because there wasn’t one. His speechwriter was an infinite number of monkeys with limited access to ChatGPT.
The delivery? He gets worse each year, and he was never good at this stuff. He shouted, whispered, slurred, spoke too quickly most of the time, and stumbled, even when he slowed down sometimes to Glacier Speed.
In terms of substance, it was apparently a list of things Biden wants to spend money on. Your money.

Why anyone would voluntarily watch the speech is a puzzlement to me. For the right, it’s a painful reminded of Joe’s awfulness. For the left, they support him no matter what. So again: why bother to watch?

Riley Gaines, the outspoken female swimmer from the University of Kentucky was a guest of a Republican Representative at the SOTU last night . Gaines has been speaking out about the males in women’s sports, and she seems to confirm in this opinion piece that the trans swimmer still had his male parts exposed in the women’s locker room and the women complained to no avail.

Dan Henninger, writing at the WSJ, says that Biden presented himself in the SOTU as Bernie Sanders, no moderation visible. This may be useful in the 2024 campaign, assuming he runs. He said he’d be the compromise moderate; he’s governing as, and making promises as, a Democratic Socialist.
