Many rank-and-file Democrats are just fine with governmental COVID tyranny

If you read the fine print there, you’ll notice that it isn’t just Republicans who oppose these things, but Independents have a profile very similar to Republicans on this issue.
If that very same poll had been taken prior to COVID, using a hypothetical virus with similar lethality, I wonder whether the answers from Democrats would have been at all similar to what they are now. It’s not a stretch to think that more Democrats than Republicans would have been in favor of the restrictive measures even in such a pre-COVID hypothetical poll. But my guess is that their numbers would have been much lower. Nearly two years of COVID restrictions and justifying propaganda have normed the idea of draconian responses to individual resistance. The public frog has become used to the boiling water of tyranny (and yes, I know that tale isn’t really true of frogs).
This just chills me to the bone. How did we get to this place?
One would hope that they will find Karma biting them, but now I have no hope left in me.
Far too many Biden-supporters (non compos mentis, or completely irrational even if “educated”, or simply evil) have no objection whatsoever to treating the unvaccinated as “kulaks”, to eliminating free speech for conservatives, to targeting their ideological opponents as “domestic terrorists”, to cruelly mistreating political prisoners as though they were enemy combatants, to trampling on the Constitution, to destroying the federal system by centralizing almost everything, to eliminating all meaningful distinctions (between male and female, between citizen and non-citizen, etc), to elevating the lawless over the law-abiding, to mention but some of their pernicious political positions. At the same time, Democrats and their lickspittles in the MSM claim, with astonishing mendacity, that it is those on the right who represent the true “danger to democracy.”
A deep attraction to authoritarianism and tyrany is baked into the bones of a very siginificant percentage of humans. This makes a good deal of sense when you realize that for millenia the overwhelming majority of humanity was ruled by monarchs, warlords, and tyrants who wielded near absolute power. It may be that the love of individual freedoms found in our country is an abnormal state of affairs.
If masks work why don’t they work?
If vaccines work why don’t they work?
These idiots prove with their own actions that they don’t believe the stuff they so adamantly state.
The next stage will be the culling of pets suspected of carrying the Chinese Crud; it’s already started in Hong Kong: ” . . . health workers in hazmat suits were seen walking out of pet shops around the city carrying red plastic bags into their vans. Dozens of pet shops were asked to close, while imports and sales of small mammals were suspended.”

The survey is absolutely unsurprising to anyone who has followed US politics in recent decades.

My only surprise is that the numbers aren’t higher. For ‘right thinking’ liberals, vaccinations are now a totem; a talisman. It is a clear and simple demarcation point they cling to. They may barely tolerate (with a great deal of disdain) those on the ‘wrong side’ of most other issues (although abortion and LGBTQGAHK67V$%5 matters cause almost as much fanaticism as Covid vaccinations), but THIS IS LIFE OR DEATH!! Many, many liberals truly believe, even still to this day, Covid and all its variants may wipe out most of humanity…and it’s the unvaccinated who will be the primary cause.
House arrest? Internment camps? Please! How about summary executions, with no trial? Or, 24-7 torture until the anti vaxxer relents? Or, just forced vaccination; hold them down and poke ’em! Not that any poll would ask these questions, but I’d bet a good amount of money at least a fifth of all Democrats and lefties would endorse all of the above.
Bill Ayers, Obama’s terrorist political mentor, has openly stated that to implement his ‘Democracy’ goals some 60-70 MILLION Americans would have to be placed into ‘re-education’ camps.
None of those numbers above are a surprise to anyone who has kept current with contemporary leftist “thought”.

Replace “facilities” with the correct title, “concentration camps”, and you begin to see the full working definition of the new Nazis, the Democrats.
I’ve read that a good rule of thumb is that conservatives distrust disorder and liberals distrust order. And there are many examples: Conservatives support the police, ID voting, secure borders. Liberals support homeless camps, early prison release, non binary identities.
But how is that squared with the authoritarian streak and the intolerance of independent thought that is so prevalent on the left?
I’m asking how can liberals encourage the kind of chaos that exists in CA today and at the same time support fines/house arrests for the unvaxed?
Rhetorical question, is it possible to be a loyal American and support the actions j e describes so well?
I think not.
Another rhetotical question, what is the proper description of an american citizen whose actions have demonstrated themselves to be an enemy of the American Constitution?

It’s not really about their health concerns, that’s just an excuse. It’s about imposing secular ‘religion’, the only ‘right think’. Ideological fanaticism in every time and place has insisted upon it.

To date the HK Government (stodgy, over-paid, corrupt, spineless Quislings that they are) has killed far fewer humans than hamsters due to policy debacles during these two years of Covidiocy.
The same could not be said for certain others.
Covid has knocked off 0.0003% of the population. A whole 213 people out of nearly 7.6M have died since the Wuhan lockdown.
Then again, Macau has had precisely zero Covid fatalities in a population of 663K.
Also should be noted that there’s less coercion to get vaccinated here than there is in most Western countries. Nobody is going around forcing the very old to get vaxed.. They and their families get to decide which dice to roll: virus or vax. Most of them have taken a pass on the vaccine:

In today’s local paper there was an editorial written by a doctor who treats Covid patients. (At least that is the claim.) This tale was about a healthy fifty-year-old male who caught Covid and got very sick. The doctor mentioned that this patient was not vaccinated. The illness proceeded to the point where the patient needed a ventilator to have a chance of living. Unfortunately, when the ventilator was put in place, the patient suffered a massive heart attack and died. The doctor explained that this was not a rare occurrence.
To summarize:
1. The patient was 50, not obese, or with other comorbidities.
2. The patient was not vaccinated.
3. In spite of high-pressure oxygen and other palliative
treatment, the disease progressed within 24 hours to the patient being unable to breathe on his own.
4. The intubation produced a heart attack.
5. This was not an atypical case.
My reaction to this is to wonder why this doctor, who claims to have seen so much death and hopelessness, is not advocating for early treatment? If intubating people can cause a heart attack and has slim chances of saving lives, why are they doing it? It disgusted me that a doctor would post something like this to frighten people into getting vaxxed. Especially when the vaccinations are not preventing the spread. They really do think we’re morons.

Not astounding at all. Classic political projection. I have a rule of thumb in that regard. I am sure others have deduced ot long before I, but still, let’s call it ‘Ackler’s Law’:
‘When a liberal/progressive/leftist/etc. hurls a slur at conservatives/Republicans, it is almost guaranteed, the liberal/leftist is embodying all the characteristics embodied in this slur. Furthermore, when a liberal/leftist accuses a conservative of some action or policy they insist is outrageous, dangerous and evil, said liberal/leftist has either been engaging in that very action, promulgating that very policy or…wishes he thought of it first’.
The corollary to Ackler’s law: the more intense the liberal/leftist screams/scolds/bemoans, the more ‘outraged’, he claims to be, the more he insists tgis is a ‘moral issue’….the more intense his devotion to doing exactly what he accuses the conservative of doing.

Anyway, this poll provokes a grim smile as it basically fits in with numerous other polls and anecdotal evidence regarding Democrat voters and their client class.

If they really believed in the efficacy of their wonder-vaccines, they’d just mumble into their soup about “those idiots all gonna die from the ‘Rona” and not think about it again — after all, they’ve had *their* shots and their boosters and they dutifully wear the Mask of Viral Protection. They’re Saaaafe; they’ve accumulated all the proper Tokens of Health and Virtue.
So – why aren’t they content to just let all the Un-Vaxxed die off from the next terrible new Variant? Why do they feel the urge to round us all up and force us to take the vaxxes?
