  1. It’s due to everyone’s excitement about The Summer Olympic games!

Who isn’t thrilled by the sight of Dr. Jill Biden waving to the crowd!

The Opening Ceremony was stupendous! Or so I was told by the only person I know who watched it.

Time flies when thinking about all those athletes, at the height of their performance skills, in competition against other athletes in sports no one cares about!

  2. Like women’s (LGBTQWERTY whatever) soccer?

Or watching the third rate African American hammer thrower (not a geologist).

  3. Or watching the third rate African American hammer thrower (not a geologist).

So many of the young are terminally graceless.

  4. in sports no one cares about!

You ever notice the multiplication of weight categories in boxing as the sport declines? Same deal.

  5. My view is that our perception of time is related to its percentage of the time we have been alive. From 5 to 10 seems the same as from 10 to 20, and 20 to 40, etc. The endless summers of my youth now fly by, but winters do too so there is that.

  6. Past the mid-mark of my 70’s I was pondering about how fast time flies, it seems to pick up more speed each year. My youngest grandchild will be four years old this fall yet it seems as if it was last year when were with out daughter’s family and the little one was born. The last year feeling also goes with oldest grandkids, going to watch them play football and basket ball and now they are in the 20’s and oldest grandson will be 24 this week, how does that happen. My wife and I have been through some stuff health wise but for the last six or seven years we have had smooth sailing, grown kids are doing fine with their lives so our six grandchildren are the benchmarks.

Six Saturdays and a Sunday every week and looking forward to the next High Holy Day in Texas, six weeks away, opening weekend of Dove Season and our 27th year gathering to dine in on Dove Eve at Perini Ranch in Buffalo Gap and then Dove Day shooting out of Abilene. Things to keep living for are important, enjoying the company of a couple of dozen friends each year and bringing home a few little doves which my wife loves to eat. Doves breasted out, stuffed with jalapeño peppers, wrapped in bacon and grilled hot and fast, important, old man, life things more relevant than current news events.

  7. When I was in elementary school, the Summers seemed endless. By the time I was in high school, they seemed much, much shorter. After that, Summers didn’t matter all that much since I was working. However, at 55, time seems to be screaming by me.

  8. Ditto on time flying by.

Is there a reason there seems to be little discussion in the media about any kind of mass testing for the presence of Covid-19 Anti-bodies in the general population? What percent of the country has significant anti-body presence? Is there a reason this is not discussed?

  9. It always makes sense when we know the whole story:

‘Earth’s rotation sped up by 53 milliseconds on July 9th.’

    Thank you, now we know.

  10. Sarah Hoyt gives us a healthy does of realism.

During WWII, neither the Russian Ivan nor the German Hans was 7 feet tall.

Nor, today is young as against college admission by merit. Nor is the unanimous far Left more than 20% of us. They just seem like the majority because they’ve got all the biggest megaphones and richest backers.

    Check it out.

“It’s not the best of times. It’s not the wort of times.” It’s just an authoritarian redux of the later 1970s.

Culture war is a longer game, however. Thus, it’s gonna seem worse. But Kakistocracy is gonna fail before our eyes in nearterm absolutely, she argues.
And this is as source of optimism.

  11. Trump ally who headed his inauguration is now targeted by Dem judge with $250 million bail — more than the multi billions Antifa-BLM “mostly peaceful” riots last year put together.

First the FIB weaponizes FARA. Then Special Prosecutor Mueller weaponized it again against Trump supporters because of Fake-Hillary/DNC Russiagate. And now a Judge does the same to Thomas Barrack because the billionaire is a friend of Trump!

Allegedly he’s nat security and flight risk needing an ankle bracelet because UAE, who supports the Abraham Accords, is an enemy state? Because Iran ally’s r good, and Iran enemies like UAE are BADD!

    SCARY freakin world.

  12. That bit about the Earth’s rotation that James Sisco mentioned reminded me of something I’ve wondered from time to time: has there been a measurable effect on the planet’s motions due to the many satellites, rockets and so on having left the Earth? I mean essentially whether the amount of mass having been ejected from the planet via space shots has been enough to make a difference. I assume there must be some very slight effect, but whether it is enough to be measured at this point has interested me occasionally. And it could well be counterbalanced by the gain from meteorites, for example.
