Some details emerge about what happened at the Capitol — 50 Comments

  1. I can easily accept that there were people who wanted a sit in, to draw attention to their dissatisfaction with how things are going, but I also believe that the violent activities were the result of Progressive agents provocateur.

Whenever violence like we saw occurs, one must ask, qui bono? Clearly not the Conservatives, as there were Senators and Representatives that were going to advocate an investigation of the fraud. But being able to wreak havoc, and blame it on the Conservatives, is a Satan sent opportunity for the Progressives.

To me, in particular, the trashing of offices seems most unlikely, on the part of Conservatives. When you are trying to advocate for the Rule of Law, you don’t behave like villagers. That is, however, a hallmark of Leftists, dating back to the 1960’s, if not before.

Alas, I also feel that some of the decent folk, allowed themselves to be swept up in the excitement, and allowed themselves to get involved in what was going on, as I fear Mrs. Babbit may have done.

  2. I have a few questions for anyone who’s done the research. Thanks for your help.

    1. I’ve only spent about ten minutes looking for the numbers, but does anyone know how many people went to the demonstration against election fraud? That’s the larger demonstration, not just the people who entered the Capitol building.

    2. Roughly how many people entered the Capitol building itself?

    3. At Instapundit, Sarah Hoyt provide a link to a long video, taken by someone in the middle of the crowd that entered the Capitol building (https://banned.video/watch?id=5ff6857e00bac0328da8e888).

The video is about 43 minutes long. Until the end, I saw no violence against property or people. It ends with the killing of Ashli Babbitt.

Since everyone is now calling this a violent mob, there must be a lot of videos that show violent acts. If anyone can provide links, I’ll compile a list.

  3. Cornflour:

If the Antifa posers were doing the ruckus their press corps wouldn’t be filming them since the posers wouldn’t have been masked and in their anonymous attire. I think it will take a while for those who did the “mostly peaceful” assaulting of the Capitol Police to be identified. Ironic that the folks who sat in Pelosi’s desk or walked off with some furniture have been promptly identified and arrested. Window breakers? Not so much. Funny that?

Funny that footage of who broke the window that Ashli Babbit passed through before being summarily executed hasn’t shown up; especially since there appears to have been many from the Antifa press corps on hand in that hallway.

    =========================

}}} After all Ray told us that Antifa does not really exist. He said it was just an idea.

Actually, this might be kinda sorta valid.

If it is designed as a networked agency, rather than a hierarchical agency, it is quite possible that it isn’t “really existing” in the classical, organizational sense. There is no one directly giving orders. There is only a collection of people linked via the internet.

No one specifically orders anything, they just express a desire to do ‘x’. If enough agree, then they all go out and “do X”, with a lot of sharing of ideas and tactics to enhance the end result.

Granted, the ones expressing the desire are likely “higher ups”, especially in the funding sense… {cough!} {cough!} Soros! Pelosi {cough!} Obama! {cough!} {cough!}, in the classical sense. But they don’t HAVE to be. It can be some general idea that catches hold in the “networg”.

There IS a dog’s butt for the tail to wag, of course.

This is something The Right needs to get a handle on, and fast. In the sense of recognizing it, its tactics, and both developing counter-tactics and a capacity of their own.

  5. BTW, here is a link to the website which described the intent of the rally, which site has mysteriously “disappeared”. Whether this is something of nefarious intent, or not is unclear (I do not claim it is, only note that it might be).

It may be that there is a desire to hide the fact that it was always intended as peaceful, so as to enable the New Order to attack the Right.

If so, they slipped up to this point. So suggest making a local copy (“Save as webpage, complete”) and then, just for the heck of it, zip up a copy and mail it to yourself or others, to establish a date and time.

  6. Oh, and here’s CB’s take on the events. Comments are worthy of examining.

}}} If the Antifa posers were doing the ruckus their press corps wouldn’t be filming them since the posers wouldn’t have been masked and in their anonymous attire.

Oh, but they weren’t “Antifa”, they were Proud Boys…. Yup. Suuuure they were.

  7. If you are not aware, things have grown much more serious the last twelve hours.

    — Trump permanently kicked off Twitter
    — Parler app kicked off Google Store with Apple planning to do the same
    — Hundreds of thousands of followers detached from conservative influencers

My question: Are We Still America?
    http://www.mikesmithenterprisesblog.com/2021/01/required-reading-reaction-to-storming.html

“Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.”

  8. I don’t know who disgusts me more; the Commie Left or the roll over and show your belly Right.

  9. OBloodyHell:

Antfa/BLM are certainly mostly peaceful ideas or ideals, nope? And the Capitol Police are mostly lawful. Sure. Ask any survivor.

    Seriously, QANON kills, just unexpectadly.

  10. Cornflour —

That’s the same video I recapped yesterday.

I think it was somebody here who asked if the person who actually broke out the window that Ashli Babbit climbed through could be identified.

Well, we can see his face at 39:04 and again at 39:11. After Babbit falls he says “oh shit” and disappears down the stairs past all the cops. We see him again at 41:00 on the lower landing having put the helmet he used to break the window back on. He’s wearing a black t-shirt with a Pirelli Tire logo in yellow and red.

I still want to know why none of the cops administered first aid, or tried to stop the bleeding, or anything other than squat there and stare at her.

  11. Bryan Lovely:

That was me asking. Will he be identified and charged? Capitol Police not trained in first aid? Not qualified to be a modern American infantryman it appears.

    Ashli Babbit. Killed by incompetents.

  12. OBloodyHell,

Their protests have an expiration date. It’s a flexible one. The more violent they get, the sooner it will arrive.

    ken,

Nazi or Vichy French? Wolves or coyotes?

    Does it really matter?

“Some men need killing.” etched on the tombstone of Gunslinger Clay Allison

  13. om —

I suspect that Ashli was a goner as soon as she was shot, but it galls me that I haven’t had first aid training since Webelos and I would have been doing more than those cops.

  14. Dave Rubin’s guests — journalists who were at or in the Capitol — are saying they’ve been put on no-fly lists.

I wonder if I should warn my boss that as a libertarian who doesn’t vote Democrat I may be abruptly leaving the team at any time. And I work for a very woke Large Household Word corporation, so it’s not unthinkable.

  15. Seattle Times alert just now: two SPD officers who attended the rally (not the Capitol) have been placed on administrative leave.

Wrongthink on your own time will not be tolerated.

  16. Folks I have just listened to the January 6th electoral impromptu session of Viva Frei and Barnes. A lot of good information about the goings on behind the saga of the electoral contest. The whole 1:30 is worth a listen.

But for me what perked my ears up being from Michigan is that the US DOJ KNEW that there was ballot fraud in Michigan and did nothing. That Barr KNEW there was fraud when he made that statement of no significant voter fraud (56:00 mark).

The Trump team knew that Pence would take the cowards way out. That the deep state would try to expel him like a virus. However, Trump is optimistic. He is mad but not down. He is not taking his ball and going home but is going to fight AND that there will be an effort to fix our electoral laws period. Good stuff.

So I am not downhearted. I am not discouraged. I am not defeated. Instead I am resolved. I am steady. I am not afraid. There are going to be efforts starting with Trump to fix our system and I will support it with all my being. Come with us and be part of the solution.

Gird your loins for battle, set a stony expression on your face and move with purposeful cold anger.

  17. THE ‘REPUBLICANS’ TREASON could not be more ironic!

Rasmussen poling shows Trump’s Job Approval going up.

    Suck it, Traitors!

The Rasmussen poll, one of the most accurate polls of the 2020 election, finds President Trump’s approval is actually rising after Wednesday‘s protests.

As Democrats move to impeachment and some establishment Republicans call for the 25th Amendment to remove Trump, the poll finds 48% approve of the President’s job performance.

A source close to the polling firm tells Newsmax that the rolling survey saw Trump’s approval soar to 51% on Thursday night.

Trump’s approval has been up overall, jumping from 45% just before Christmas.

“Americans are disgusted that cities burned for months and Washington and the media did nothing,” our source says, “But they still like Trump.”

I GUESS THE REAL ELECTION RETURNS ARE IN, AND THERE IS JOY IN THE WHITE HOUSE, now.

  18. I am Spartacus — do you play Chuck Brown to Lucy in real life?

    Seriously.

You write “There are going to be efforts…to fix our system and I will support it with all my being.”

By who? Democrats own the store and pull all the levers.

They already want a one party state beyond the reach of any opposition. Why would they cooperate to open the door to defeat their goals? And who Left or Right among leadership is worthy of trust to be fair? After the massive fraud and steal?

NOT A CHANCE. You are Charlie Brown, then?

  19. Mark Steyn made a very acute observation – that outside of the Capitol Beltway average citizens do not hold the Congress in very high regard. Establishment politicians fulminating about the breach of the sanction of the US Capitol are filled with their own self importance.

  20. A non insurrectionist explains wandering into the Capitol, among hundreds who are awed by the Senate Chamber and prays, while hating the demise of our Constitution by our failed leaders.

    7 minutes of honest exasperation
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOjzEj_r0E4

He wraps it up with “None of these people in Congress will listen!…What are we supposed to do?”

  21. Pelosi contacted the Joint Chief of Staff and asked them to ignore any military orders from the sitting President. Even the NYT reports that the JCS noted doing so would be an actual military coup. So there is a coup attempt going on. If all those yelling insurrection were held to their standard… but that doesn’t happen in a real coup.

  22. Bryan Lovely:

The Komisars of King Kounty have spoken; there is no free speech or free thought, you belong to the “people.”

  23. All organized resistance to the far left has completely collapsed. The left is now Sherman marching through Atlanta and they will not stop until they get an unconditional surrender. How appropriate that the far left began its final march in Atlanta.

Because of lack of support and constant nitpicking all Trump was able to do was delay the takeover for 4 years.

It’s going to get a whole lot worse before it starts getting better….if it ever does…..probably not in my lifetime.

By the way Neo, it won’t be long before all conservative content is removed from the internet. I hope you have other resources and don’t depend on the income from this forum completely.

  24. Expulsion from Twitter will not have a significant adverse effect on conservatives.

On the contrary, Twitter will lose influence on American culture (Jack will have to count on his friends in Iran etc.)

  25. Mark Steyn made a very acute observation – that outside of the Capitol Beltway average citizens do not hold the Congress in very high regard.

Approval rating was around 26% last I read it. Just below used car dealers.

As for deplatforming. That is a real risk. I don’t know how many here have followed the expulsion of Conservative Tree House from their WordPress server. They were given two weeks and managed to move it all. They had enough IT skill and help to do so but that is a big web site with resources.

  26. Worth the 45 minutes, though I have these differences of opinion: I don’t consider Biden the next lawful president. He is president-elect because of process completion and the process is broken.

I am more outraged by free speech and valid vote being stolen than what happened in the Capitol. I wish Congress were at least as concerned about that as having their process delayed. I suppose I don’t have the legal training to get on that outrage boat.

  27. Irv,
I posted these three quotes the other day:

“Enemy on island. Issue in doubt” Commander Winfield S. Cunningham USN
The Fall of Wake December 23, 1941

“WPO-3 Is in Effect” General Douglas MacArthur USA
The Retreat to Bataan December 23, 1941

“You will proceed south with your Headquarters, Far East Air Force…” General Douglas MacArthur USA to Major General Lewis Brereton USA
Retreat of the Far East Air Force to Australia December 24, 1941

Look at the dates. How would you like to give that news to Roosevelt? How did that end? Where is the Far East Air Force today? (Yokota Air Base Japan)

Pelosi is behaving like a hysteric, why? Why the sudden de-platforming? They are scared.

WPO-3 is War Plan Orange-3 (1938). Plan Orange, war with Japan, had been replace by Rainbow 5, world war in late 1941. The downfall of Japan pretty much followed War Plan Orange.

  28. I live in a deep Blue state and community, and receive email newsletters from my representatives, almost always containing Leftist virtue-signaling and partisanship. So this morning I replied to my state representative’s post-riot email with a stiff email of my own. Just to push back and let him know I am out here and watching him.

Then I went to do the same with my U.S. congressman, but was surprised that his post-riot newsletter was completely non-partisan. I therefore emailed him commending him for that, and said I would pray for him to have the wisdom and courage to do the right things.

Also, the killing of Ashli Babbit was a tragedy, but in no way do I support climbing through a broken window in the Capitol.

  29. Rufus, that column by Jason Whitlock in the Blaze is awesome. Whoda thunk a sports reporter of all people would be more stalwart than 99% of the Republican/Conservative “establishment”? Ok maybe not a high bar …

  30. On a related noted, the Chinese Communist Party has progressed from the Great Leap to one-child to planned parenthood (e.g. selective-child)… the fifth choice, the wicked solution, an em-pathetic appeal, and rationalized their concentration camps for the sake of social progress. Is this why they hire Western advisors?

All’s fair in lust and abortion. Let us bray.

  31. Who would have thought that climbing through a window the Capitol would be pretext for summary execution.

A Capitol Police officer died after being struck on the head with a pipe, if media reports are accurate and IIRC. An Antifa mostly peaceful protestor in Seattle a few months ago (son of a WA state Democrat representative) was caught and arrested for attacking a Seattle bicycle cop with a similar object; broke the bicycle policeman’s helmet. Wonder who killed that Capitol policeman, will those details be made available and will the livestream video of that murder be posted?

I worked a George AFB in the late 1980s, the flight line and the National Guard Alert Pad had “Red Lines” painted on the concrete with warnings that stated basically ‘If you cross this line and we can and will kill you.’ Ashli Babbit didn’t see the invisible red line surrounding that window.

  32. Perhaps, for conservatives, it would be helpful to do what the left does and distill policy ideals/common arguments to the sort of catchy memes that seem to be how people learn now. Especially young people. Yes it pains me to “dumb down” ideas, but everyone starts somewhere. Being prepared with a few quips also prevents one from being flustered in a confrontation, or from losing one’s audience with long explanations. Reverse propagandizing in style at least. Its not a huge thing, but something those of us who are keyboard warriors can do.

  33. In trying to find an estimate of the crowd size at the Rally on 1/5, I happened on this Wiki article with details of what happened. A lot of detail, mostly slanted, of course. It emphasizes the right wing groups – Patriot Prayer, Proud Boys, Alex Jones, etal and their alleged planning for the attack on the capitol. In spite of the slant, there is quite a lot of detail – a near minute by minute time line. They allege that Trump told his supporters to attack the capitol. Ann Althouse has read the transcript of his speech and has found nothing of the sort in it. I haven’t read it, but believe Althouse is probably on the mark.

The article confirms what I saw on video – young men kitted up like ANTIFA, but they imply that these were right wing thugs. Maybe so, but I’ve seen so many videos of the riots in Portland and Seattle in the last months, I’ve come to recognize the ANTIFA look – helmets, gloves, knee pads, body armor, light weight shields, hammers, crow bars, etc. Those were all seen in various videos of the chaos at the capitol.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_storming_of_the_United_States_Capitol

  34. If we look at the videos about Capital Hill, it’s clear there were a lot of police cars and Firefighter trucks…

    The question is:

Why those firefighter trucks not used to disperse the demonstrators and bush them back from the entrance doors for Capitol Hill?

    Anyone can tell us?

It’s clear the breach of security, should those boss for police, firefighter and other security guys hold accountable to what went wrong?

  35. TJ @ 4:46 am – “I am Spartacus — do you play Chuck Brown to Lucy in real life?”

I am not Chuck Brown. I am the man in the arena. Not the pallid soul who knows neither victory nor defeat. Who are you?

I am not a frustrated blogger pounding out my frustrations on the keyboard. I am active in the electoral process. I am a poll challenger. I was at TCF and saw the Jim Crow ballot stuffing. I will not be silent about it.

I am not a summer soldier daunted by setbacks and adversity. It is winter now, but spring will be coming and I will be prepared. Who are you?

I will work tirelessly against this totalitarian coup because even if one person does not accept the lie then they will not have won. Have you offer your hands out to accept the chains of social control?

“The simple step of a courageous individual is not to take part in the lie.”
    –Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

I was at the Washington rally to show support for the populist movement lead by Trump. Where were you?

I have a group of fellow travelers who I work with for change and preparation. We are vetting and allying with fellow groups and organizations. So I am not alone. How about you?

When the left starts their system of social credit, I fully expect that I will be a person non-grata. I know this and face it with a clear eye. Are you ready to stand and take the consequences?

You only have power over people so long as you don’t take everything away from them. But when you’ve robbed a man of everything, he’s no longer in your power – he’s free again.
    – Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

I have listed my bona fides. I would like to see yours. What have you done? If nothing, then I suggest you push yourself away from the keyboard find a cause or team to help and fight. Else depart from us and vex us no more.

“That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
    And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
We would not die in that man’s company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.”
    Henry V – Shakespeare

  36. funsize:

No offence, but clearly you don’t get out much in the online would. The young right wingers to whom (whoop whoop Trigger Warning whoop whoop) Tomorrow Belongs totally own the meme battle space.

Look up Nicholas Fuentes / Groypers. Google for NPC Meme. Better to use Duckduckgo of course. Also the thing with any kind of web search for anything non Progressive is that you may have to actually scroll down the page and or even go to second or third page of results. This is because the search engines are run by the enemy and top results will be their ‘fact-checking’ and ‘snopesing’.

Down in that age group, I’m afraid that you’re not going to have CivNats. These youngsters are hopping mad. They’ve been through the feminazi schools and the diversocrat universities… or they work in ‘real jobs’ and have had to tolerate mandatory diversity training. Like I said, they’re hopping mad.

Oldsters have to realise that this is *not* so much a political or idealogical war; it is (tadahhhh!) a CLASS WAR. Yes, Virginia, Class does exist.

This time around it’s not guys in top hats and the middle class vs the poor worker. This time it’s an Financial + Tech Oligarchy + their Managerialist Servant Class (it is THEIR having become Class Aware in last 30 years which drives so much of the contempt for ‘Ordinary People’) versus The Rest of Us.

That makes for some very strange bedfellows amongst The Rest of Us.

The Memes are out there already amongst the young. I happen to think that many of them will be enthusiastic supporters of the grimmer bit older sorts if things do kick off.

Not all youngsters are AntiFa types. It’s actually pretty easy to figure out which way someone is likely to jump: physiognomy. Did I need a trigger warning for that too? :)… Seriously… you look at the radical left and they practically wear their deviancy on their faces — ugly, asymmetrical, tattoos, piercings. It’s going to be easy to handle AntiFa when the gloves come off. Big Tech and the nasty hard parts of FedGov are another story.

  37. I am Spartacus:

Well put to TJ. He is gadding about in New Zealand it seems. NZ is a very progressive place now a days, sad for them IMO.

  38. Zaphod —

Maybe I should start pretending I’ve converted to uber-wokeness so my 11-year-old daughter will “rebel” by coming over to the dark side. 😀

  39. @BryanLovely:

As I say when I notice subtle and not so subtle female attempts at behaviour modification of moi:

Good luck with that plan 😛

  40. The Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick who died after the January 6 2021 incursion into the Capitol Building may have perished from an unrelated medical condition. That wouldn’t fit the approved narrative.

I’ve been wondering where the video footage of the attack on Brian Sicknick has been hiding.

    https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2021/01/10/307700-n307700

In any event, Qanon kills, as does leftist propaganda.

Ashli Babbit and Brian Sicknick RIP.

  41. The evening news reports the House is going to again impeach Pres Trump. (Apparently they want to prevent him from being able to run for any office ever again — dear God how they must fear this man! They’re trying to nuke him from orbit then salt the ground where he stood…)

Do these people think Trump’s supporters are just going to shrug and slink away the same as the Republi-rats in Congress have done? Do they not understand they may trigger something they can’t tamp back down again?

    Aaargh.
