Hollande’s French honeymoon… — 4 Comments

  1. How could it be otherwise?

Hollande campaigned on the promise and assurance that he could ‘restore’ the French economy. In a country that the left has already “fundamentally transformed” that means keeping the entitlements coming…

“The poll reflects French impatience with the Socialist government’s perceived inability to fight the economic crisis and stop thousands of job cuts seen hitting companies like carmaker Peugeot and drugmaker Sanofi.”

Raising the income tax and asset taxes to 75% isn’t working, yet the left’s narrative rests upon the premise that socialism is a valid economic system.

Since liberalism is in many ways a denial of individual responsibility, a scapegoat must be found.

It seems likely that it will consist of blaming the failure on not allowing the EU ministers in Brussels to impose greater bureaucratic control, in a further economic integration in the EU and the US’s profligate indebtedness.

In other words, it’s Bush’s fault.

  2. The French elected someone who wanted a 75% income tax, and they are surprised that he is not delivering an improved economy? Quelle horreur!

As the French people voted Hollande into office, they are getting precisely what they deserve.

  3. Raising the income tax and asset taxes to 75% isn’t working

Obviously they need to raise it still higher.
