Stop the presses: Joe Biden blames Republicans — 16 Comments

  1. We have a long hill to climb.

Yes, democrats do not have the “fever” anymore.

No, democrats aren’t motivated with Bush hatred anymore – and the Messiah is old news and not getting them what they wanted anyway.

I asked my girlfiend last night how a job is created. 🙂

This is due to the fact that we were discussing the Brown and Whitman debate…..

As somebody who has worked for the government her entire life her answer was simply – because there is a need.

I answered that there has to be an entrepreneur who believes they can make money fulfilling that need first

I added – and that is why Texas has been a state where a lot of jobs are created and California is a state with 12.6% unemployment. Entrepreneur’s and doctors and highly skilled people and people with money are leaving California. The last census has removed representatives from California and added them to other states.

And I said that California is in a dire situation going the way of Greece, France, Spain because most people in California have the class warfare, anti-business attitude and do not see that Jerry Brown is part of that problem.

She then chose to quibble with the word “dire”.

I said, yes “dire”. California is in a situation where because of the attitude of it’s legislature is voting in more and more anti-business legislation and driving more and more businesses away.

Toyota closed it’s plant in Fremont, CA and opened it elsewhere.

Intel is adding jobs but not at it’s facility in Folsom, CA.

As CA’s obligations are increasing – the amount of tax payers are decreasing. That’s a “dire” situation.

Our children (we have 4 together) will be part of the young unemployed that have a 35% unemployment rate with little opportunity.

I then asked about Jerry Brown’s “green jobs”. I asked – where will these come from?

    Silence.

  2. Sounds like an interesting conversation, Baklava.

It’s amazing how many people talk about ‘jobs’ and ‘economic growth’, but don’t seem to understand where they come from.

Bottom line: There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. If a job is created, it’s because an employer decided to offer that job, and is willing to pay someone to do it. That employer did so because she feels this will pay off — having that additional worker, and paying for the work, will be more than offset by the value that employee adds.

Business owners aren’t altruists, by and large; they’re in business to make money, for themselves and (indirectly) for their employees. Some people like to depict that as evil, but it’s not; you can count on a person’s self-interest much more reliably than you can count on their altruism (which may or may not exist in the first place).

So make it possible for small business to start and thrive; let competition drive quality up and prices down. This will generate jobs, and generate wealth. Contrariwise, make it expensive for businesses to start or to expand, and watch the jobs dry up.

(I might add that, since 2008, an increasing number of Americans are ‘going John Galt’; they’ve decided that if the system is going to milk them dry anyway, they’d rather dry up on their own. Telling people that the fruits of their labors will not be theirs to keep is an excellent way to get them to slack off, working no more than they absolutely must. On the other hand, when people get to keep the wealth they create, they want to work harder to generate more. It works.)

In re the original topic of this post: President Obama said the other day that Republicans are hoping “black folk stay home” on election day. (He offers no proof for this, putting it on the same moral level as six-year-old boys making faces at each other and saying “this is you”. It’s also racist for the President to say it, and to accuse Republicans en masse of racism… I’m not sure which is worse.)

They really are getting desperate, aren’t they? With almost three weeks to go, one wonders what other nonsense they’ll come up with (and accuse us of).

    respectfully,
    Daniel in Brookline

  3. The “horror movie” he is referring to is unemployment rates in the 5% range for years on end, and economic growth measured in decades when R’s control the Presidency or the House.

The real horror is what happens when Dems are in charge, going all the way back to FDR’s 10 year reign of misery called the Great Depression.

Follow that with the wasteful defeat of Johnson’s great society and Carter’s stagflation.

The real bad old days are presided over by Dems.

In 2006 they got the House, and things got worse fast.

In 2008 when they controlled everything, the deluge of misery followed right away, and the clean up will take another 10 years.

I do not see how Dems will ever be given control of e House in the lifetimes of the current generation.

They are worse than anyone’s worst nightmare.

  4. “They really are getting desperate, aren’t they? With almost three weeks to go, one wonders what other nonsense they’ll come up with (and accuse us of).”

This, for instance – from another blogger at Open Salon, who snorkled through the sludgier depths of the internet to find ugly pictures of Obama and the Mrs, so she could accuse Tea Partiers of circulating them and threatening to bring on racial cleansing of black Americans.

  5. Personally i think that they should get a ipad app…
and every time they do that
they can hit a button and the app will pop on the screen a picture of pee wee Herman
saying… i know you are, but what am i…

  6. By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens. By this method they not only confiscate, but they confiscate arbitrarily; and, while the process impoverishes many, it actually enriches some…..Those to whom the system brings windfalls….become profiteers.

To convert the business man into a profiteer is to strike a blow at capitalism, because it destroys the psychological equilibrium which permits the perpetuance of unequal rewards.

Lenin was certainly right. There is no subtler, no surer means of over-turning the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose….By combining a popular hatred of the class of entrepreneurs with the blow already given to social security by the violent and arbitrary disturbance of contract….governments are fast rendering impossible a continuance of the social and economic order of the nineteenth century.

  7. According to pravda… 🙂

    english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/13-10-2010/115351-american_military_officer-0/

some military officers think its Obama…

and as i said a LONG time ago, how long before Russia plays the validity card?

the local left may not like such impudent questions from birthers, but when another country insinuates such, what then?

after all, only leaders can sign treaties. no?

    what would joe biden think?
    hot diggidy, or oh shiat?

will other places take up the idea and will it cause difficulties?

  8. Quote:

America is being decimated by a foreigner, acting as a President, and the Federal Judges want to say that an American citizen has no “Standing”?

    Pravda

did someone just turn up the heat and pressure?

Consider this: If none of the cases asking Obama to prove he is eligible have “Standing”, why is a Federal Judge and Obama’s Department of Justice allowing 11 foreign Nations to join a lawsuit against the State of Arizona?? NONE of those Nations are… residents of different states and NONE of those Nations has suffered or are threatened with actual injury.

But, under present circumstances, with an illegitimate President who has spent nearly $2 million to keep his citizenship secret, with a Congress ignoring Constitutional requirements to certify Obama’s Electoral Votes, with a Department of Justice attacking an individual State attempting to enforce Federal Immigration Law and allowing 11 Nations to join in that attack, with Federal Judges across the country resorting to the illicit reasoning of “Standing” to prohibit questions about Obama’s citizenship, with a Supreme Court whose job it is, to consider cases before them, and instead is proudly “evading that issue”, with certain factions of the military illegally and unconstitutionally attempting to silence any questions of Obama’s eligibility, with record unemployment, with record foreclosures, with record poverty levels, and with Obama going out of his way to insult every World leader he meets, there are only three options to restore the operations of the American government to it’s rightful owners:

    1. We the People, take to the streets and forcibly remove every anti-American politician and government employee and/or forcibly remove any politician or government employee that the People “perceive” to be anti-American.

    2. The United States Military must do a “surgical strike” to permanently remove the correctly identified anti-American forces in government positions.

    3. Foreign intervention of overwhelming force.

    interesting…. no?

  9. and the last page they move the rook into place…

If Obama is not eligible to be President, ALL of his Executive Orders, Laws, Treaties and Agreements can be reneged on by future administrations and by foreign entities. ALL orders being given to the United States military are unlawful orders and no soldier or officer has the duty to obey them. In fact, any and all military personnel who do obey his orders are subject to immense criminal punishment and possibly can be charged with and prosecuted successfully for War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity. Their duty is to not obey unlawful orders.

  10. For Baklava

’144 businesses leave CA’ Wow, how’d that happen?

    jan.ocregister.com/2010/09/23/leaving-cal-list-grows-to-144-firms/45696/

“Businesses are shrinking their California footprint because high taxes and intense regulation damage their ability to compete,” Vranich says.

  11. Off topic: I saw a little bit of the O’Donnell-Coons debate tonight. I had forgotten about it and tuned in late. Then CNN cut away to the mine rescue coverage.

There’s a thread at Ace of Spades where they were liveblogging the debate, and reading the comments there probably gives the flavor of it. I was heartened to see so many “Wow, she’s not a dummy after all” comments. I already knew that, and let’s hope that enough Delaware voters come to the same conclusion.

  12. rickl,

only the nyom’s of the world believe she’s a dummy.

They don’t give her the benefit of the doubt.

The legacy press has an affect on so many people’s attitudes – so frustrating….
