And now it’s back to work… — 5 Comments

  1. I currently have a job at an acceptable wage. Because I made my bad investments pre 2000, the current downturn hasn’t affected me much. You can’t squeeze blood out of a turnip.

But given my financial state, I predict that my old age will see bankruptcy. I will just try to hold it off as long as I can. At least I own my place outright.

  2. Sweet…. With my impecunious boomer bosses forced to work unto death, I’ll be the junior guy until I’m 70.

  3. I still intend to take early retirement next year and finally acheive my goal of becoming a “burden on society.” Actually, with social security, another small pension from college teaching and perhaps a part-time job, I’ll be fine. I attribute it to a decision I made a couple of years ago to simplify my life. It was amazing how many things I “needed” that I discovered I didn’t really “need.” I have an old car, but it runs fine. I have my books and a library card. I have my music. I have my friends. I have my four grown children and my brothers. I have plenty to eat. I live in a place I like. I am relatively healthy. I like fine wine. I have strong faith. And I have sites like this to visit. I am a very “wealthy” soon-to-be-a-retiree, “wealthy” in the sense that I have, in abundance, all the things that really matter. Simplify, folks, it will work wonders for you.
