Obama’s Durban “dialogue” — 17 Comments

  1. “The Israel-Palestine struggle is largely a land distribution issue. The problem being that on both sides the veto is held by ‘the Party of God.'”

    CH

  2. The comments section of that article make useful, if irritating reading. There is this odd pattern of anti-Israel commenters, who start out trying to make a rational argument in measured tones, but are unable to make into the fourth sentence without deteriorating into vile name-calling. They tip their hands awfully quickly in discussion.

  3. I think our delegate to the Durban, South Africa conference should be our Attorney General Eric Holder. Hey, he has the stuff to do the kind of stemwinder that crowd likes. He’d bring the house down – get the whole dam place rockin’.

  4. As far as I’m concerned, this is the deal-breaker with Obama. I’d been maintaining a very tenuous hope that against all evidence he might turn out to be a president I could at least ambivalently support,, but unless he backs out of Durban fast, I’ll give up on him. Or rather turn against him in disgust and anger. And so will many others. Think of all the Jews who voted for him in spite of Khalidi, Ayres, Wright, etc.
Even Marty Peretz, the king of cognitive dissonance, seems to be changing his mind.

  5. Anti-Israel and Dezinformatsia- The real Obama administration laid bare. But will enough see it quickly enough?

  6. I’m just wondering how many of those old retired types down in Florida are going to feel as Israel is abandoned by The One.

I’d also like to be a fly on the wall to watch the ensuing discussions between these retirees and the yuppie set that traveled from northern climes to impress upon their grandparents the importance of voting for The Messiah….

  7. If only:

Big government liberals would see that:
    1) Israel has the right to exist
    2) National security is important
    3) Bad people do exist
    4) We shouldn’t reward bad behavior
    5) It is born of love to teach people to fish not to give them fish
    6) Conservatives ‘care’
    7) Results in policies matter

At this moment – Obama looks like he doesn’t understand anything

  8. Baklava’s list, slightly reordered:

    1) Bad people do exist
    2) We shouldn’t reward bad behavior
    3) Results in policies matter
    4) National security is important
    5) Israel has the right to exist
    6) It is born of love to teach people to fish not to give them fish
    7) Conservatives ‘care’

  9. Hal Lindsey spoke years ago about America eventually abandoning Israel, and what the repercussions of that would be. Of course, everyone thought Lindsey was nuts and that would never happen. But we have a president who wrote a couple books. In one of those books he stated that if it came to that, he would side with the Muslim faith. I don’t know the ins and outs of that statement, I have not personally read any of his books. But I have seen the statement in quotation marks numerous times. I am willing to bet many other readers and commenters of / to this blog have as well.

Are we slowly abandoning Israel, just as we are slowly abandoning just about everything else I believe?

  10. I must disagree with nyomythus – I don’t think it’s been a land issue for a long time. Israel has returned land in the last few years and it has done nothing. It is now (and in the recent past) been a question of wiping the country of Israel off the map.

I don’t know why anyone is surprised – even though he said not to the direct question – everything else Obama said or alluded to regarding Israel demonstrated he would abandon them. With these kinds of indicators it would not surprise me to see Israel act pretty soon to blow up a few sites in Iran.

As far as Sara Silverman’s “Great Schlep” goes I am sure that many of those grandparents who may have voted for Obama are regretting it now. And the worst thing is people like Silverman pretty much KNEW that Obama wouldn’t stand up for Israel and yet they were using their Jewish Heritage to try to convince people to vote for Obama.

  11. 900 million to rebuild Gaza.

One has to admit, it’s easier to tow missiles behind a truck on paved roads than it is to tow them through bomb craters.

Truly, how is giving 900 million to rebuild Gaza NOT going to help Hamas?

  12. In reality, it is about land, because the Islamic scriptures and traditions convey the view that it is an unspeakable shame for dar al Islam to LOSE even the smallest piece of ground to the infidels. That’s the Islamic way. Israel’s very existence is what the Muslims and their Marxist allies object to. There is no partial ceding of land that would satisfy dar al Islam. They want all of it back and then some. They want the Jews driven in the sea.

I never cease to be amazed that there are still people out there who have fallen for the sob story about the poor Palis that the Joooooossssss stole the land from.

  13. This is not the most surprising thing that will happen. Less than 5 weeks after inauguration, and my worst fears are starting to come true.

  14. So, HUGE amounts of money flow into America, some know about the coming crash and position themselves nicely (the Sandlers, Stanford, Raines)
Al Gores job is to keep America from exploiting her
own resources and cinch the deal. All we really need to do is change our policies slightly…
Where did all that money come from? Who has that much money? Who funded Habitat for Humanity? The Clinton Library? And now, Biden’s
son and brother are tied to R Allen Stanford?
Muslim petro dollars fueling Saul Alinsky types?
Hand me my Guy Fawkes mask….

  15. Dan,

You show up with the Guy Fawkes mask, I’ll bring the Bonnie Blue! Where’s the next nearest tea party?!?!
