Post-election blues? Try the Sanity Squad — 9 Comments

  1. Well, conservatives, you should be cheered on by at least one thing: years of corrupt Republican rule, gerrymandering, and a Senate biased in favor of low-population, Republican states over high-population, Democratic states. The average Democrat won with 56% of the vote, while the average Republican in 1994 won with just 51% of the vote. Yet in 1994 Republicans picked up over 50 seats, while in 2006 Democrats picked up just over 30 seats. Democratic candidates, in total, won 13% more votes than did Republican candidates.

So again, I say, take heart: your efforts over the last 10 or so years have paid off. If every person really did have one vote of equal weight to every other vote cast, the Democrats would have much larger majorities. Even though a significant majority of Americans wanted Democrats in charge, you guys managed to soften the blow. It could have been much worse. The robocalls probably helped too! Heck of a job, guys.

  2. Or maybe the Senators up for election this year were from predominantly blue states. You know, they all don’t get reelected at the same time.

Also, that was the exact point of the Senate- it was supposed to be a balance for small states.. It’s almost like you have no idea what you’re talking about.

  3. I’m sorry Holmes, I believe I didn’t convey my point very well. The Senate certainly was designed to serve a particular purpose, granting low-population states disproportionate political power in the new Union so as to give them an incentive to join. That, though, is now pretty much not an issue, so the Senate is in many ways a total anachronism. The ten least populace states have a little over 8 million people combined, while the 10 most populace states have about 152 million people combined, giving citizens living in the smallest ten states roughly 18 times the political power as people in the biggest states, with regard to the Senate.

As we’re not really worried about Wyoming leaving the Union, and as I can’t think of any good reason why one citizen living on one side of an imaginary line should receive 18 times the political power as a citizen living on the other side of the imaginary line, the Senate is something of an unfortunate anachronism.

So all I was saying was, basically, look on the bright side: if we weren’t saddled with a political entity that has outlived its intended purpose and spits in the face of “one person, one vote,” then things would have been much worse for you guys. Demographic trends mean that, at present, the Senate heavily favors your side, so even if Americans voted more heavily for Democrats than they did for Republicans in the “Republican Revolution,” their large popular majority is translated into a flimsy, vulnerable one-seat majority. It could have been a lot worse, and you guys totally lucked out. So cheer up! It could have been worse. Imagine if our political system were actually based on the “one person, one vote” concept. Then you’d be screwed!

  4. The election was all about the Middle East. However, Iraq is a diversion. As the army attacks Iraq, the US gov’t erodes rights at home by suspending habeas corpus, stealing private lands, banning books like “America Deceived” from Amazon, rigging elections, conducting warrantless wiretaps and starting 2 illegal wars based on lies. Soon, another US false-flag operation will occur (sinking of an Aircraft Carrier) and the US will invade Iran, (on behalf of Israel).
Final link (before Google Books bends to gov’t demands and censors the title):
    America Deceived (book)

  5. Ya, Neo. Let’s dissect it.

Believe own propaganda! The Left *shock*

Islamists winning the election, hehe. They are becoming more democratic than ever! Oh, sarcasm aside. Let’s get to the guts.

Criminals. Hang them all. Hey. What can I say.

Insurgents? Stake them. What do you want to be, a criminal or an insurgent? You are still going to die.

Swat Al Sadr, that’s right boys.

True, he did raise a militia, because the US left him alone. Practical solution? Arrest Sadr, try him, execute him. Kill 1 out of every 10 members of his militia, in front of cameras. Then move the US Marines to reconstruct Al Sadr city, under martial law. Take the system down from top to bottom. The leaders, dead and tried under a legal system. The thugs, dead and afraid. The poor and supporters of Al Sadr, either get a chance to die under American fire or get a chance to live a better life under the Marine Corps.

I think most reasonable people would take the Marine Corps. Go Ziggy!

Wait, are you guys talking about the Kurd President or the Prime Minister?

Stop messing with these idiots, that is right people. The American public are pissed, seriously.

Hehe, middle class. Sounds like Leftist Revolutionary beliefs. Man, Ziggy been bunking up on military psychology or what?

Talk isn’t so bad, Neo. When there are bodies hanging along the Baghdad street, rotting in the sun. Talking is good. People want to talk to us then, right?

Well, the Arab league is kind of richer than the UN. The Arabs do the bribing, the UN takes the bribes.

Neo, I think the Democrats like the Prime Directive, remember? We cannot interfere, because we would cause more destruction on the “primitives”. That is why Democrats don’t like democracy in Iraq. Talking is good, killing and interfering, not so good.

Hey, what about the lunatic right like me, Neo? Why do all the Leftist boondockers get all the attention ; )

Without a conscience, Neo. Not classical liberals, the Left are. There is that Revolution again. Marriage? hehe. I think the Ayatollahs divorced the Left, via death do us part. Now the sister of the killed bride, is wanting to hook up with the Ayatollahs. Weird?

  6. They don’t fall off the radar screen, Neo. The media doesn’t brodcast the pictures. But if Bush goes on tv and says go to youtube link x x y, the American people WILL see.

The media cannot stop it. When people SEE, they will BELIEVE. Seeing is believing.

So, well, now we have the tools to inform the people of what is going on in this world. But, well, tools are there to be used.

Those who remember history WRONGLY, are just doomed, Neo.

  7. Let down because the party of incompetence, criminality and hypocrisy lost? Not a chance!

You would have rather seen that party win. Speaks volumes, Neo, volumes…
