Another analysis of George Floyd’s death — 23 Comments

  1. “For most people, the propaganda wins out.” – Neo

A Big Lie always has believers, although their reasons may differ.

There are still far too many people who actually believe that Michael Brown of Ferguson actually said, “Hands up! Don’t shoot!”
As opposed to the ones who know that it is a false narrative and are, very cynically and sometimes evilly, making use of the false beliefs of the first group for their own agendas; for instance, #BLM using racial grievance as a cover for Marxist insurrection.

Even Wikipedia concedes the point, although with a fudging sort of reluctance to admit it, even though Obama & Holder had to yield officially.
And you KNOW they would not have done that if they could have plausibly maintained the false narrative instead.

“Hands up, don’t shoot”, sometimes shortened to “hands up”, is a slogan and gesture that originated after the August 9, 2014, shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. The slogan implies one has their hands in the air, a common sign of submission, and is therefore not a threat to an approaching police officer.
Witness reports from the Brown shooting are conflicted as to what Brown was doing with his hands when he was shot. Most witnesses claimed he physically charged at the officer. One witness initially claimed Brown had his hands in the air before recanting his account. The slogan was adopted at protests against police brutality in the U.S. A United States Department of Justice investigation, under the leadership of African-American U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, found the ‘hands up’ claim was inconsistent with the physical and forensic evidence, and the witness testimony surrounding the Brown shooting.[1][2]

I just noticed that the sixth anniversary of the Ferguson event is tomorrow — I wonder if that portends any additional rioting?

  2. Also recommended is the piece by Andrea Widburg at the American Thinker entitled “How did George Floyd really die?” Despite the overwhelming evidence now available from the toxicology report, from the transcript, and from the video thus far leaked, proving the fraudulence of the narrative promulgated by the MSM (and repeated by far too many conservatives), which caused dozens of deaths and truly massive amounts of damage (as well as infecting most of the world), far too few easily-manipulated citizens (and likely voters in three months) can be reasoned away from their irrational belief in “systemic racism”.

  3. Haven’t really followed the day to day of this but are the three others police officers still in jail?

From transcripts and the video it’s hard to see what they did even remotely criminal. At least with Chauvin some case could be made for a charge of some kind.

Why in the world would anybody want to be a cop in the time.

  4. Blame Keith Ellison for not releasing “information that would hurt the prosecution:”

  5. The most interesting thing would be the almost full acquittal of the cops, and depending on the result of 11/3, the intensity of subsequent riots.

  6. I have no way of pulling up an old comment but believe I said as much about Floyd, his drugs, his autopsy findings as this dude. I may have said Floyd was a dead man walking.

  7. For most people, or at least a lot of them, or at least the ones who make the most noise, the righteous feeling of believing the propaganda wins.
But not in court.. See Ferguson, Trayvon Martin, Freddy Grey, Duke lax hoax, UVA rape hoax. The last two didn’t even make it to court, the righteous outrage of the Self Proclaimed Exceptionally Wonderful (SPEW) notwithstanding.

Listening to Glen Beck the other day about these folks. Guy gets shot while driving down the street when the crowd “takes the street” Speeds up, bumps a couple of folks. Horror!
“Hey, man, somebody shot him. He’s trying to get away without being shot again.”
    “Horror. He’s a racist scumbag.”

    Reality does not matter.

  8. Four innocent cops in Minneapolis. Four innocent cops in Atlanta.

An attempt at lynching by Islamist/anarchist/opportunist prosecutors.

  9. I hope that the Officers have good lawyers; and I hope that Minneapolis, the state of Minnesota, and especially Ellison, pay dearly for what they have been through.

There is no doubt that Ellison and the others knew about the body cam videos from the outset; and knew what they contained early on. So, why did they do this? They must have known the facts would come out in court. It is almost as though they wanted to trigger the chaos, and deal with the other issues long after.

The others seem like a slam dunk; but, I will be pretty interested in hearing Chauvin’s full story. Won’t it be interesting if he says he was kneeling on Floyd to keep him from hurting himself given the state he was in? Right now, who could say with certainty that was not the case? He could have a case of slander, or whatever the legal term is, against an awful lot of people who absolutely pilloried him. I have privately hoped all along that he could vindicate himself; and I continue to do so.

    Cop’s lives matter.

  10. There are people that believe that George Zimmerman stalked Treyvon Martin and shot him as he was trying to go home. Zimmerman now claims the Florida prosecutor called fraudulent witnesses for the prosecution. It’s like the old show trials in the USSR .

  11. There are people that believe that George Zimmerman stalked Treyvon Martin and shot him as he was trying to go home.

Oh, that’s the standard issue rubbish you hear from gliberals and leftoids on that subject. These people think in templates and never bother to read anything more than cursorily. The ones who know what they’re talking about just fall silent on cases like that. I’ve had scores of exchanges over that case and I’ve yet to encounter anyone with a certain set of priors admit what has been known, that Martin quite deliberately walked 75 yards down an alley and attacked Zimmerman.

  12. If orangemanbad wins CW2.0 immediatly commences. If the ghost of Biden wins CW2.0 will commence, but more gradually.

  13. The DAs knew the cops were innocent. They proceeded with the indictments because they were afraid of the mob. They were terrorized into committing an act of moral cowardice.

  15. A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.

  16. They proceeded with the indictments because they were afraid of the mob. They were terrorized into committing an act of moral cowardice.

They weren’t terrorized at all and in fact are stoking the violence.

  17. Roy Nathanson:

I’m sorry to say that I believe the DAs are actively and knowingly encouraging the mob by holding back information that would calm it down.

  18. parker is right about CW2 after the election.
If Trump wins despite gross Democratic vote fraud (we have NEVER heard of a case of GOP fraud, have we?), Democratic venues will explode, and Trump will have to declare national martial law so the rioting b*stards can be shot down.

I am not so sure of the events following a Biden win. There are a lot of hypothyroid, sluggish frightened sheeple out there, quite distinct from the 250,000 bikers now gathered in Sturgis SD. The sheeple make Antifa riots possible; see last night in Portland. Anyone think sheeple will begin using lasers to blind Antifas?

But the period between Nov. 3 and Jan. 21 will be most interesting.

  19. Just for the Record: Ft Collins is not Denver, and Antifa was not shown the welcome mat.

At least in CW1.0, there were clear territorial lines of demarcation between the opposing sides; fighting a war where one side consists of islands surrounded by the other side is more problematical to analyze and predict.

BTW, a take-over by the urban island faction also has problems:

  20. Barry’s link is to a news report of a Rescue America rally sponsored by the #WalkAway Foundation — the news from there is indicative of a huge split opening in the Democrat base.

The rally was organized by the #WalkAway Foundation, an organization founded in 2018 by Brandon Straka to encourage people to leave the Democratic Party, with over four hundred people showing up.

“We’re a movement of people who are walking away from the Democratic Party,” Straka told Fox11 Los Angeles. “We’re walking away from the ideology of liberalism, the liberal media…basically, we want to live in a country with peace and civility…truthfulness, kindness and again, we’re not getting that from the political left so we’re walking away from the Democrats.”

Saturday’s rally marked the group’s third outdoor event, and will not be the last.

“We’re doing these rallies because we wanted to show the radical left who’s been smashing windows, committing acts of violence, committing acts of vandalism they do not own America’s streets,” Straka said. “We’re going to fight for the heart and soul of America, so this is our third one. Next week we’ll be in Milwaukee and we’ll basically be doing ‘Rescue America’ rallies around the country for now through the end of the year.”

In a video shared on Twitter, Straka expressed surprise at Saturday’s turnout and the reaction from the public.

“I think that people for so long have been feeling like they’re outnumbered or feeling demoralized,” he told Fox11. “But today, they got to get together and got to be really loud and proud and show that the silent majority is unsilent from this point forward.”

They may not all go so far as to vote for Trump or other Republicans, but even NOT voting for Biden and Democrats will be a huge (excuse me, YUUGE) benefit.

  21. The second fracture in the Democrat base is between Blacks and Hispanics.
This is a recent sample story, but others have shown up from time to time.
The two ethnic groups — internally diverse or otherwise — are not fans of each other.

    https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/rick-moran/2020/08/02/louisville-black-lives-matter-using-mafia-tactics-on-hispanic-business-owners-n741579

The third fracture is developing among the Jews.
The hitherto Democrat-leaning faction (Orthodox Jews tend to vote Republican, IIRC) may be reaching a tipping point on the issue of leadership excusing the anti-Semitism of the Blacks currently at the top of the Left’s pyramid.

    https://billypenn.com/2020/07/24/naacp-antisemitism-philadelphia-rodney-muhammad-desean-jackson-nazi-quote/

If you get enough fractures, you can shatter any base.
Just ask those people pulling down statues.
