Will Daniel Day-Lewis come out of retirement to play Jordan Peterson? — 19 Comments

  1. Not a bad idea. And Jordan Peterson’s Kermit the Frog-like cadence speech pattern will give Day-Lewis a verbal challenge.

  2. I am sending copies of Peterson’s book to family. I have a daughter who was a Bernie supporter and I wondered if she would even read it. Two days later, she called me to tell me how much she loves it. Now she wants to read his earlier book from 2002 but at Amazon hard cover copies are $160. I assume a new edition is coming.

  3. Two gems:

Well worth the viewing, Peterson being interviewed by FOX:
“Professor on Trudeau’s ‘Mankind’ Objection: Canada Will ‘Pay’ for This Leftist Ideology”

IMHO, profoundly important : an in depth exploration on the psychological motivations that result in human beings manifesting Evil…
    “Jordan Peterson: Tragedy vs Evil”

See if you too perceive the parallels and commonalities between Peterson’s identification of “arrogance + resentment” as the primary psychological elements of evil and, today’s western leftists…

  4. leftists are the most materialistic people around. They claim to be spiritual but in their minds only thing that matters is money, noticed how all inequalities in the world according to them are measured by difference in incomes? Happiness is closely tied to how much money they make and poor people are miserable according to them. What if the people in poor countries are complacent with what they have and are living happily leading less stressful lives? What if the women who are earning .75 to every dollar men are making chose jobs that were less paid but more fulfilling with purposes, less stressful and more free time to take care the kids? but to the liberals only thing matter is how much you make, and if a group of people are making less money than others they must be victims and oppressed.

One study I want to see how much a black man make compare to a white man with the exact identical experience and qualification. Only way you can claim racism if even for the people having the exact same experience and qualification people in a different race are making significantly less than the others

  5. Thank God for Jordan Peterson. I certainly don’t always agree with his arguments, but that he is as successful as he is in reaching a large (and growing) audience is refreshing. It reduces my cynicism about our state of politics and society…and least slightly.

I do think he is letting his unexpected fame get to head, unfortunately. But such was perhaps unavoidable. The point is, he continues to offer substantive arguments against the many totems of contemporary leftism, in a clear, calm, non-polemical manner.

  6. I worry about this man. Wonder how all the liberal/progressive hate is weighing on him. Stay strong Dr. Peterson. There are many who love you.

  7. three post-England pod casts show him in top form so I don’t know what is meant by “getting to his head”
here is one with the very charming H3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFANYt52m1g and here is one with the great Joe Rogin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6T7pUEZfgdI&t=6735s and here is the earliest of these three with a remarkable young interviewer in Holland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6qBxn_hFDQ&t=11s in this, the first 20-30 min is on the Channel 4 attempted pummel, but then for an hour or so this young man takes him through 5 main themes of his work. All 3 of these are since his Ch 4 “interview.” So I’m saying … he’s doing as good a job as I can imagine keeping his head sorted.

  8. I certainly don’t always agree with his arguments, but that he is as successful as he is in reaching a large (and growing) audience is refreshing.

Perhaps Americans got tired of sleeping in their vr matrix and instead chose the Red Pill, for once.

  9. Through Jordan Peterson I was able to gain the understand of the word cultural marxism which had always been extremely confusing to me – was actually quite simple – Marxism going through a rebranding to keep the leftist scholars’ gravy train and path to world domination going by making the transition from economic to culture, after the brand was completely tarnished by the likes of Stalin and Mao.

The future becomes quite predictable then if you know history. Under the banner to fight for the economically disadvantaged group Classical Marxism completely ruined the people they vowed to help, what is going to happen to the minorities Cultural Marxists vow to help now? Civil rights is a cultural marxism product and seriously look at the condition of black people today, way worse than before the movement.

  10. people need to understand that just because there is a reliable protection against contracting a dangerous disease doesn’t make the disease less dangerous now when it is killing less people now.

HIV is as dangerous as ever, just because its killing less people now with people practicing safe sex through the use of condoms doesn’t mean the threat is gone now and people can discard all their condoms now, the danger is still out there and you are careful, ask Charlie Sheen.

On the same token, socialism kills a lot less people doesn’t not mean it has been evolved or it is less dangerous, it is every bit as dangerous as in the 20th century, America has the liberty, 2nd amendment, constitution and Christianity and all the good stuff here working as a condom to minimize socialism’s harmful impact on society. If you are foolish, if you listen to the evil democrats and help them remove these safe fail mechanism implemented by the founding fathers to prevent people exactly like Hillary or Obama to come to power, this country will fall and soviet unions and all the horrors it caused will happen again, only this time it happens here.

  11. Peterson is dead man walking already…

on another note, methinks the woman below protesteth too much.
OBAMA: “I can guarantee. I can guarantee that not because I give Attorney General [Loretta] Lynch a directive, that is institutionally how we have always operated. I do not talk to the Attorney General about pending investigations. I do not talk to FBI directors about pending investigations. We have a strict line and always have maintained it. I guarantee it. I guarantee that there is no political influence in any investigation conducted by the Justice Department or the FBI, not just in this case but in any case. Period. Nobody gets treated differently when it comes to the Justice Department because nobody is above the law.”

WALLACE: “Even if she ends up as the Democratic nominee?”

OBAMA: “How many times do I have to say it, Chris? Guaranteed.”

  12. Years ago there was a syndicated radio show called His Side with Glenn Sacks. [Glenn was a friend of mine as was many others in the mens movement]

Sacks is a father’s rights advocate who hosted the show from California. He regularly brought on prominent feminists to debate men’s issues, primarily father’s rights. He also had people call into show and ask questions.

On one episode, he invited a newcomer feminist blogger named Amanda Marcotte to talk with him. Marcotte had made name for herself with her blistering diatribes and rants on her blog Pandagon. The vitriol that came from her digital mouth knew few limits. There was little she would not write in order to trash men, the men’s rights movement, and advocates like Glenn Sacks.

So as one would expect, when Marcotte appeared on the show she spoke in the most restrained, mousey voice humanly possible. She presented the complete opposite of her online personality, acting afraid and timid and barely speaking loud enough to be heard despite the microphone being inches from her face. When challenged by Sacks on the various charges she had made against him and other advocates, Marcotte had only soft spoken, non-committal remarks.

She proved the utter coward. In further demonstration of this, within hours of the interview Marcotte wrote a seething blog post attacking Sacks and his “hostile” environment on the show. The same person who could barely be heard now claimed that Sacks ambushed her and made her feel unsafe.

the key ways you deal with the ideologues. You force them to reveal that they have no idea what they are talking about it. You let them make their point, and then you ask them to prove it. If they do anything other than present evidence supporting the specific claim they made, they reveal their bias – ToySoldier

and poor poor old TAKI is going WOO HOO not WOO HU!

“Invent a weapon,” Jordan Peterson said on Tuesday, “and your enemies will have it within one generation.”

He was talking about Gamergate feminist Brianna Wu, who was learning the hard way that YouTube’s Restricted Mode was hurting the gays it was supposed to protect.

You may be thinking, “Wu who?” right now, but you should be saying, “Woo-hoo!” because Peterson’s observation is profound. Not only are the bots turning on their creators, we are too. We’ve taken Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals and turned it into our guidebook. We are the Social Justice Warriors now, and we’re way better at it than they ever were.

Jordan Peterson is a Nazi on the far right the Alt-right right? [nice meaningless label on top of a mountain of labels that used to have meaning]

Fired Google employee turns to alt-right Youtube figures for first interviews

The separate interviews were conducted by Jordan B. Peterson and Stefan Molyneux, both controversial alt-right commentators.

    Guess which interview is gone?

Peterson is a Canadian clinical psychologist whose controversial views about “white privilege” and identity politics have made him an alt-right celebrity.

see, now you dont have to bother reading him, you know all you need to know..

Molyneux, who is also Canadian, has garnered more than 600,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel for videos titled “Why Feminists Hate Men” and “In Trump We Trust.” The interview with Peterson has since been deleted, but the 45-minute Molyneux interview can be viewed here.

why did they delete peterson? 🙂

Soon, he will be like Watson (DNA? helix? erased)… and Larry Summers… reborn anew as a far leftist to survive… and Erin Pizzey, had to leave her own country to keep from getting killed… and one of the BEST examples of this copy of history: Nikolai Yezhov

  13. Peterson looks a bit like Lawrence Olivier, right around the time of “Wuthering Heights”

  14. I haven’t tackled “Maps of Meaning,” but I’ve been reading Peterson’s new and much more accessible “12 Rules” book, and it has given me plenty to think about. His ideas are supposedly directed most strongly at young Millennial men, and, as a mother of sons, I agree that they are most desperately in need of Peterson’s message of carefully thought-out personal virtuosity as the road to a life of meaning – not to mention the fundamental concept that meaning can give healing sustenance to lives unmoored and unsupported by the old certainties of faith, role and ritual. But I’m no Millennial young man. I’m a beginning-to-get-old woman, and I’m nevertheless finding that Peterson’s works – though, of course, not always perfect or above all criticism – speak to me and move me and shed light in unexpected ways. I hope to goodness he can continue to avoid some inadvertent verbal misstep that would allow the ravening social media hordes to tear him apart.

  15. HotAir picked up on the Jordan v Newman bout here.

    https://hotair.com/archives/2018/02/06/like-conservative-talking-progressives/

“…The point of Friedersdorf’s piece is not to agree or disagree with each statement made by Peterson, but to look at the nature of the conversation they are having. And that nature is almost laughably absurd. Interviewer Cathy Newman comes to the interview with an ax to grind. That in itself isn’t necessarily bad. Interviewers should be prepared to challenge their subjects. The real problem here, demonstrated over and over, is that Newman isn’t really listening to what Peterson is saying. Instead, she takes each statement and leaps to a new conclusion about what Peterson really means. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Peterson spends the entire interview defending himself from one misleading claim after another.

But the point here is not what it’s like to be Jordan Peterson giving an interview, it’s that this same interview technique gets used on conservatives fairly often. Case in point, ex-Google engineer James Damore gave an interview to CNN Tech in which his views were repeatedly mischaracterized in much the same way. CNN Tech’s Laurie Segall brought up the alt-right twice, forcing Damore to denounce a group he had no connection to in the first place. The effort seemed less to understand than to throw him into a hole of insinuations from which he could not escape.

And of course, this form of attack interview becomes a kind of parody of itself on the faux news shows popularized by Jon Stewart, Samantha Bee, Trevor Noah, etc. In those cases, the host literally spends hours trying to set up the target for one bit of video which can be manipulated into a caricature of their actual position. The goal isn’t to understand but to ridicule. “
