Obama: it seemed hot to me — 22 Comments

1. “…but he didn’t quite nail it.” Ohhhh, Mr.Alter, you midget master of understatement,’Yo.

N-Neocon, thanks hugely for the LBJ quote on economics speeches. ‘Fraid it’s way out of Lib-Left depth(cough) to ‘get it’.

2. Interesting how the news anchor was shilling for the president and the guests who where there to represent the Democratic viewpoint were not. Shouldn’t it have been the other way around?

3. It wasn’t even an original speech – the RNC has a new video out showing numerous lines were previously uttered in an April speech.

He has no fresh ideas. He has incompetent speechwriters, but he either doesn’t care or doesn’t notice the repetition. And yet he still requires a teleprompter.

Worst.President. Ever.

4. The speech was so boring I cannot even read the commentary about how boring it was.

A bummer in the hand is worth two in the “it was Bush.”

5. Sorry, but i don’t think that at 31 the Director of speechwriting has enough life experience or political knowledge to write speeches for POTUS.

And at 50, POTUS doesn’t recognize that.

6. Here’s the deal. Obama and his close advisors and handlers are all in the bubble. The center of the bubble is Obama. If you are 30 and pulling down six figures and getting pumped up in magazines for being one of the 100 most anythings in the world you will do anything — ANYTHING– no matter how stupid or degrading to keep your position. This includes being attentive in the microscopic to whatever leetle ting your master wants or likes. You will === yes YOU WILL === serve his every little whim before he knows he has a whim. You will, yes YOU WILL, write the speeches in the exact way you know he likes them and leave in the same mistakes for him to correct you always do. This is not about making him look good. It is about making him feel good. And keeping your job.

7. Latest news is that he passed the Dream Act by fiat. Guess the effect in Florida and northern Virginia. Obama has one genius, using the individual weakness to his own benefit.

This will be the most critical election in American history since before the Civil War. As of now I can predict Obama will lose the popular vote but win the electoral vote. Fortunately a Republican congress should mitigate the damage he would otherwise do.

8. Obama didnt change
the people didnt change..

the lies that causes masses to make bad choices cant last long enough…

this is the game of marx sociology, to figure out what buttons to press to get the clock ratchet to tick one more unit forward and prevent it from falling back once this invalid validity has been discovered.

ie. dont matter if we see it NOW, the wheel has turned, the ratchet has locked… cant turn it back… ergo – Gliechshaltung…

9. The effect in Fl will be to push even more non-hispanic voters into Romney’s corner. As for Va, he’ll lose more than he gains, kind of like coming out for gay marriage (which just may cost him 5%-10% of the black vote).

As for the notion that Obama’ speeches have recently become bad. If you can stand it, go and listen to the speeches from 2009 in the context of our current situation. They were no better. They are, for all practical purposes, the same speeches he gives now. People who though he was visionary and eloquent had their blinders on and let themselves be sold a “pretty fiction”, a fiction that they must struggle ever harder to maintain.

10. It’s unfair to blame the speech writers. If they are failing to come up with striking new language, it’s because they are not allowed to change the underlying themes. I suspect Obama makes the final call on any speech that they prepare. If he won’t change, they can’t. As my old boss used to say, “You can’t polish a t*&d.”

11. WHAT IS THE BIG PICTURE
WHAT ARE WE MISSING?

in World War II 16.5 million men and women in uniform, today roughly a million in uniform in spite of the fact that the country is almost twice as large a population as we had in World War II

We are waiting for Walter Cronkite to come on TV and declare war, or else we are not in one… right

Deadly new Russian weapon hides in shipping container
[dont believe they are not made… look to history why]

what does a build up look like?

A Russian company is marketing a devastating new cruise missile system which can be hidden inside a shipping container, giving any merchant vessel the capability to wipe out an aircraft carrier.

“At a stroke, the Club-K gives a long-range precision strike capability to ordinary vehicles that can be moved to almost any place on earth without attracting attention,” said Robert Hewson of Jane’s Defense Weekly, who first disclosed its existence.

“The idea that you can hide a missile system in a box and drive it around without anyone knowing is pretty new,” said Hewson, who is editor of Jane’s Air-Launched Weapons.

“Potential clients include anyone who likes the idea,” Mikhail Barabanov, a defense expert at Russia’s Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST)

Alabama bans Agenda 21

hey… why make a law against what is said to be a tin hatter thing?

Alabama has banned the U. N. Agenda 21’s sovereignty surrender.

Agenda 21 is one of those compacts, like Law of the Sea, Kyoto and New START, that are supported by an apologetic administration with a fondness for the redistribution of American power and wealth on a local and global scale.

It fits in perfectly with President Obama’s pledge to “fundamentally transform” America, its institutions and its heritage of capitalist freedom.

think a man who hates the US will sell us all out to be ruler over it?

so they are already putting the fences around the boars, and sharpening up the Long Knives, and preheating the ovens…

12. The reason ∅bama’s speech didn’t fly is that we’ve heard it all before. Fool me once- shame on you. Fool me twice- shame on me.

OTOH, ∅bama’s repetition of now-failed talking points makes it easy for the oppo. All we have to do is recycle our rejoinders.

Some are blaming the speechwriter. Recall ∅bama’s reading “Polish death camps” from the teleprompter. For someone who graduated tops in his class at Holy Cross in Political Science, the speechwriter has some shortcomings. He didn’t learn that the Poles do not like such references? He didn’t know anyone of Polish descent when he was growing up in Massachusetts? Not likely. Holy Cross is a good school- Clarence Thomas graduated ninth in his class at Holy Cross. As does the POTUS have some shortcomings- to demand a recycling of failed talking points, and to not catch “Polish death camps.”

13. OTOH, ∅bama’s repetition of now-failed talking points makes it easy for the oppo. All we have to do is recycle our rejoinders.

A better strategy might be to disparage the talking points as shopworn (“Yeah, yeah, is that all you’ve got?” or “Don’t tell me, let me guess – it’s Bush’s fault, right?”), which will undercut the “coolness” factor that is so important to the young and hip.

14. I blame the message not the messenger.

No. substance.

From anyone on the left.

15. ‘even his admirers are tired of his rhetoric and would prefer substance.’

When your beliefs run counter to reality on that scale, substance is (almost by definition) impossible.

16. ‘No. substance.
From anyone on the left.’
Agreed. Because their beliefs HAVE NO SUBSTANCE. They contradict human nature.
If I told you the sun revolved around the earth, it would be the same deal.

17. Steve D.,

Actually, the earth and sun, in a sense, rotate around each other or, more precisely, around their common center of mass…

🙂

But your point still stands!

Jamie Irons

18. My favorite LBJ quote (probably not created by him) applies to The One:

“Too dumb to pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the heel.”

19. Obama is almost certain to make is that the economy was already in bad shape when he took office. Polls show that argument still resonates with many voters.

20. Have you ever thought about creating an e-book or guest authoring on other sites?

I have a blog based on the same subjects you discuss and would love to have you share
some stories/information. I know my readers would value your work.
