Very informative video on the Middle East situation as a whole – plus, Hamas wants it all — 19 Comments

  1. Blinken’s a clown. This is the Democratic Party.

Israel should see to it that Hamas entire politburo is cured with a dose of lead or shrapnel from a drone strike.

  2. Art Deco:

I would recommend instead they receive the “Ninja” warhead Hellfire missile treatment; wouldn’t want to kill any innocent Gazamites or Westbankonians.

  3. I wonder if anyone in the Biden Administration has ever taken a serious look at the 1988 Hamas Charter?

Someone should ask Biden or Blinken if they will demand that Hamas withdraw it’s spoken death wish for both the Rotary Club and the Lion’s Club that is in their 88 Charter?

How many people in the West even realize that the 1988 Hamas Charter mentions those two western clubs and at least one other? ( I forget the name of the last one. )

  4. Lately, over been thinking about those two young Israeli soldiers who were murdered in Ramallah about twenty-odd years ago. The phrase used to describe the brutalization and torture they endured was “lynching.” That didn’t convey the horror. It’s really hard to find the details I remember reading. But believe me, it was horrible.

The reason I bring this up is:

    1) Nothing that was done on October 7 to the Israelis should’ve come as a surprise. Brutal torture is part of the fiber of the terrorists’ being.

    2) Israel should’ve long ago stopped being quite so reticent about sharing the depravity of the terrorists. It was years after the 1979 Nahariya massacre that Israel finally shared what was done to a four year old victim of terrorism. I know it has got to be painful beyond belief for the family of the survivors, but the world needs to be told what animals the Palestinian terrorist are.

  5. Someone else:

One of the first things that came to mind for me when October 7 happened was the Ramallah “lynching.” I had read what was done to those soldiers, and I recalled it.

However, that seemed like a spontaneous crowd event that was an atrocity. October 7 was a planned mass murder and atrocity. A little different, but the one thing was an indication that the other could occur. There have also been other atrocities that happened to single families in Israel. And then there was what happened to Lara Logan in Egypt. I have a draft of a post about how the latter relates to what happened on October 7.

Lastly – and this is very strange indeed – there was the funeral procession for the Ayatollah Khomeini. I’m not sure how that fits into the picture, but I think it does.

  6. Someone Else – They’re not animals. Animals don’t do that to one another, only humans.

On the larger topic – I think there’s a straight line between Biden/Blinken and the Iraq/Afghanistan democracy experiments. Despite mountains of evidence to the contrary, some still believe that we are capable of imposing liberal democracy on any society and that it will be the solution to all of their problems. Wrong and wrong. I still believe that the left’s opposition to W. and post 9/11 wars was opportunistic rather than principled. Biden and Blinken reinforce that belief.

Anyway, I think most Israelis, right and left, realize that the Palestinians don’t want a two state solution and will act accordingly. The American left is too ideologically blinded to figure it out.

The some are to be found in your imagination and hardly anywhere else. See William Kristol’s remarks on what he expected in Iraq, delivered on NPR in early 2003.

In both countries, the decision was made for reasons of state to remove the extant crew of rulers. An attempt to put both places in the hands of their elected officials was a logical next step, though you might have ginned up some alternatives in Afghanistan. BTW, it wasn’t ‘democracy’ which was the problem in Afghanistan, but the lack of coherent public institutions tout court.

While we’re at it, Iraq’s elected officials are still in charge. The civilian death toll from political violence during the calendar year 2023 was 537. On a per capita basis, Iraqi civilians are less in danger than was the civilian population of Ulster during the period running from 1977 to 1999.

  8. Bauxite @7:40am,

I’m not sure they believe liberal democracy can be imposed on societies. I’m also not sure they believe liberal democracy is preferable.

Mostly I think the Obama camp are anti-Imperialists. “Dreams of my Father.” Obama’s father dreamt of vindication for the immense harm he believed Europeans, especially England, did to his native Africa. They want to punish western governments and remove their influence from African, Asian and South American lands that those western governments colonized.

When that is done Africa, Asia and South America will revert back to the utopian paradises they were prior to 1492.

  9. Well the difference is this is like actually paying the taliban (btw the way we are) we seem to be doing the jizda ransom everywhere the mob that arose in iraq the day after the baptist hospital tells you everything

Yes obamas crew malley bowman nee jarrett and co do seem to lean more red than green the algerian war is a subtext in the current spade series degaulle did what sharon would do 40 years later in gaza

Before the brits arrived kenya was colonized by settlers from oman a small irony one might note its been about 60 years since independence there as well how did it turn out

  10. Humanity demands that these awful people playing at being “Palestinians be scattered to the four winds, and their memory erased.

  11. Scatter them to the four winds, but not here. Let their Arab brothers take them in.

  12. Scatter them to the four winds, but not here. Let their Arab brothers take them in.

I’ll wager that their Arab brothers adjudge them jailbird cousins you do not want to see on your doorstep.

  13. Neighboring Arabs no more want to “take back’ Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank than Europeans want to ‘take back” Jews from Israel. Two populations competing for the same parcel of real estate with no where else to go. And the UN eager to put its thumb on the scale in favor of one population. What could possibly go wrong?
