The virtue-signaling GOP kindly hands the Democrats a House seat — 18 Comments

  1. 14 seat, how about 4, now 3, with mccarthy and one other down to one, are they as innumerate as barbara lee,

  2. Santos was a liar extraordinaire, and he should be expelled and was.

But Adam Schiff got on national television three times/week and lied to the whole country for years, as can be proven by the Mueller report. Now he is likely to be elected as Senator for CA.

    Erronius

  3. miguel cervantes:

    Would that it were 14.

That was a cut-and-paste from the article; I just added a “sic.”

  4. not_a_lawyer:

Yes, Democrats would never do such a thing unless it was in a safe district. Santos’ district was obviously unsafe and even likely to go back into Democrat hands, and yet the GOP did it. Own goal.

  5. Merely just another sign of America’s decline into a nation that imitates Venezuela’s descent.

  6. The big difference is that Democrats’ only rule is they want to RULE.
GOP is still following Marquis of Queensbury rules, so they will lose, and lose our country to them.

  7. Democrats tend to be in yo’ face on these sorts of things, smugly daring Republicans to do anything about it. Republicans pout.

Republicans tend to be in Democrats’ derrieres on these sorts of things, generally in kissing mode, as is very often their wont.

So . . . Happy Valentines Day (smooch smoochie smooch).

  8. Didn’t I just recently mention the old joke sardonically related to protagonist Michael Fassbender by the trapped and doomed hit woman in the 2023 film, The Killer”?

You know it. A hunter ostensibly in pursuit of a giant bear thinks he has scored a hit, until the bear shows up behind the hunter and offers him a choice; to be torn apart and devoured or buggered. In an escalating series of failures the hunter rinses and repeats the same pattern.

Eventually the bear looks at the hunter skeptically and observes: You are not really in this for the hunting are you …

    You get the idea.

Huxley can probably give you the full delivery.

  9. Either a majority of our fellow citizens are moral and just, or they are not. Ignoring or breaking rules for the benefit of “party” obfuscates reality and keeps us from the truth, as a nation.

I’m with not_a_lawyer. A rat is a rat and Santos, as currently constituted, does not belong in our great nation’s legislature. I also agree Schiff, Omar and many others have violated the rules of the House and Senate and do not deserve their seats.

It may be that a majority of Americans just want to loot the Treasury for whatever spoils their Legislator can funnel to their state or district or pet industry or cause, and if that is where we are, the sooner we learn the truth the better.

  10. menendez is still in the senate and that replacement would be picked by the dem governor! Its malpractice that at the very least his name isnt being dragged on the senate floor by every vote

  11. Pragmatism versus Principle.

Choose pragmatism often enough and principles become distant memories.

But never compromising on principle eliminates the flexibility needed to use pragmatism to advance the desired principle.

As example, I’ll use how the Democrats do it, since they’re much better at it than GOPe Republicans.

Principle: Like in the UK, guns should only be in the hands of government controlled forces.

Obstacle to implementing that principle; 2nd amendment.

Pragmatic solutions; deceitfully mischaracterize the source of crime and the use of guns, enabling
incremental disarmament through increasingly restrictive regulations and laws.

Latest step; State of Illinois’ firearms registration…

  12. A few notes I gleaned from an Intapundit thread or two.

First, a New Yorker relates Suozzi’s media campaign, introduced by saying it was a saturation campaign. Second, he deliberately did not mention his party ID as a Democrat throughout it. And finally, that his campaign hammered stanching the border immigration — something Democrats will never do! But a strategically wise campaign tactic.

So, lies, deception, and propaganda — all of the D-Rat specialties.

Lastly, I read a post on the Republican candidate Maxi Pilip, who in FNC interviews seems the ideal candidate for this seat: immigrant from Ethiopia (black), Jew, but a registered Democrat, previously.

The last part had escaped me — but together with Santos peculiar and twisted persona — thus, helps to explain why these odd ducks are especially fit for this swing district in Big Democrat NY. And therefore it was a tricky district for any R to win.

  13. TJ:

But since Suozzi held that same seat prior to Santos, most people must have known he was a Democrat. He wasn’t an unknown entity.

Or one would assume they should know.

  14. As predicted, RINO socialists are quitting Congress in an effort to hand the House to the Communists ala Paul Ryano and his merry band of quitters in 2018.

  15. The fact is that the dopey Repubs blew it big time when they dumped Santos who was certainly no worse than 99% of his colleagues.

Now their hypocrisy has cost them/ us dearly while the Dems once again have the upper hand. For the life of me I will never be able to figure out what’s wrong with these people.

Mazi was not a good candidate. She wasn’t MAGA nor did she support President Trump.
Finally the snowstorm was the final blow to her campaign. The morons forgot that February is peak winter in NY and never worked to get out the early voters or absentees.

If this is how the GOP plans to run in November, god help us.

  16. Just the dumbpublicans being dumbpublicans; what else is new?

At least they had the cohones to impeach Mayorkas; and just barely bc a couple of dumbpublicans voted with the demonkrats (what else is new?)
True, this will not amount to anything, but at least they brought attention to his illegal activities (e.g. violating US immigration laws).

As for Menendez; he dems would not be going after him unless they knew his replacement would be a dem.

The dems can always rely on the stupidity of the dumbpublicans; it’s as certain as death and taxes

  17. Suozzi had already been the congressman from the district before he decided to run for governor. It was likely that he’d take the seat back, especially with the low turn out of a special election. Democrats get out their voters, living or dead.

It’s not a good sign that Trump chose to put Pilip down. He’s going have to rely on support from politicians who don’t want to get too close to him and has to learn not to take things personally.
