Who stands with Texas — 32 Comments

  1. Shame on North Carolina and Kentucky. This is what comes from electing Democrat governors. And shame on the Democrat party.

  2. Alaska is “Always up there all alone “. The only other state I’ve been to that seemed less like the the United States is Hawa’ii. We refer to the United States (and the rest of the world) as Outside. As in Outside of Alaska. Lot of weird things up here, lots of Left wing stuff and lots of Right wing stuff. All mixed up together.

  3. Tucker Carlson has a brief interview with Texas Governor Abbott, who says, “yes” we are prepared for conflict with the Federal government.

Meanwhile, one Philadelphia Inquirer opinion writer this afternoon—who writes on “social justice” issues—urges Biden to act with force, using the mistaken and inflammatory Ft. Sumpter/Civil War analogy. (The decades earlier Nullification Crisis under President Andrew Jackson is the appropriate one.)

Headline: “Eagle Pass is today’s Fort Sumter. Biden must federalize the Texas National Guard.” Subheadline: “The standoff between Gov. Abbott’s tin soldiers and U.S. Border Patrol is the greatest challenge to federal authority in 60 years. The president must act.”

  4. I’m a little surprised at Nevada. I thought the unions in LV & Reno turned the place blue. Maybe the open border is more of a hot issue there than I would have thought.

  5. well they have a sensible governor in Sandoval (you don’t hear much from him)
they did steal the Senate seat,

  6. TJ

(The decades earlier Nullification Crisis under President Andrew Jackson is the appropriate one.)

Agreed, but with one important difference. Governor Abbot wants the Feds to enforce federal law regarding the border. Biden does not want to enforce federal law regarding the border.

  7. Kentucky’s AG put out a statement in support of Texas. North Carolina’s AG is a Dem, so that’s going nowhere.

  8. Governor Beshear stands very much alone on this in the Ky government. Don’t be surprised to see something passed over his veto in support of Governor Abbott.

  9. Gringo — PRECISELY on point, Sir. The Nullification Crisis concerned possibly punitive tariffs affecting the South.

By contrast, today’s Border Cris concerns Immigration law and its (non)enforcement at the border because a Democrat Party lacking much influence on private sector unions isn’t damaged to embrace illegals…as new voters.

Plus, the currently lax laws on voter registration facilitate the ballot stuffing their urban Pol machines need to win close elections.

And J.J. — thanks for posting the WH link. It’s a fine convenience.

  10. Texas AG Paxton has replied to the Biden Administration with more legal objections against accommodating Federal requests:

    Attorney General Ken Paxton —
    @KenPaxtonTX
Today, I denied the Biden Administration’s unfounded requests & issued counter-demands.

By February 15, DHS must supply the official plat maps & deeds demonstrating the precise parcels to which they claim ownership, an explanation of how Texas is preventing access to those specific parcels, documentation showing that Eagle Pass or Texas ever granted permission for DHS to erect infrastructure that interferes with border security, & proof of Congress empowering DHS to turn a Texas park into an unofficial & illegal port of entry. If the federal gov. is going to make such claims, it must provide proof.

Presumably because you have no meaningful response to our letter, your latest letter abandons earlier factual assertions, asserts new ones, & supplies even less of a legal basis for your demand.

Once again, I respectfully suggest that any time you might spend suing Texas should be redirected toward enforcing the immigration laws Congress already has on the books.

As I said before, this office will continue to defend Texas’s efforts to protect its southern border against every effort by the Biden Administration to undermine the State’s constitutional right of self-defense.

One suspects continuing Fed-Texas sparring punches.

  11. Bonchie at Redstate has the posts by the Border Patrol union leader, indicating solidarity with Texas officials.

“Furthering the division between the Border Patrol and the White House was a senior CBP official who said they have no plans to follow through on removing the razor wire put up by Texas. Biden has completely lost whatever leverage he had.

“This is an incredible turn of events. I don’t know if ’mutiny’ is the right word here, but clearly, Biden has no way to enforce his threats at this point. Border Patrol agents are not going to go along with it and short of using the Insurrection Act to mobilize the U.S. Army (and they likely wouldn’t act either), this represents a major roadblock to the president’s attempts to further destroy the Southern border.

“We are in uncharted territory right now, and I’m certainly thankful cooler heads have prevailed, at least at this point. Will this force Biden’s hand toward some kind of renewal of enforcement of immigration laws?”

I doubt it. But given more time and persistent resistance, then who knows?

  12. What are the next legal steps in the Texas border control fight with FJB?

Texas AG Ken Paxton gives a good interview to John Solomon of JustTheNews.com, podcast, HERE
    https://justthenews.com/podcasts/john-solomon-reports/texas-ag-ken-paxton-immigration-invasion-might-cost-joe-biden

Paxton thinks the optics will defeat Biden in November. American’s respect the morality and right to self-defense, which is what Texas is attempting to do.

Our President is “literally helping the [drug] Cartels”, says Paxton..

  13. The signatories of this letter don’t explicitly say they Stand With Texas, but that’s what the bottom line is if Biden ignores them (and “he” will).

    https://townhall.com/tipsheet/spencerbrown/2024/01/25/border-invasion-threat-spelled-out-in-chilling-letter-from-federal-law-enforcement-vets-n2634184

At least the facts about the invaders are being publicized, although the MSM will probably either not cover the letter, or lie about what they said.

  14. I personally believe this about the “letter” by the Govenors. Though the text is important what is more important is these Govenors publicly attached their names to it. For them there is no going back.

    Ps: Aesop understood!

  15. Texas-supporting Border Patrol agents are probably mostly Texans. Then again, military and law enforcement are probably mostly patriots, most of whom likely favor Olde English execution methods for the entire Biden family and Biden regime.

Although it might seem coincidental that an illegitimate government also has repugnant attributes, the quality of illegitimacy resonates with all manner of dishonesty and depravity.

  16. My family once sued a city for trespass. After they couldn’t produce evidence of an easement, they claimed an implied easement. Claimed the property was worthless and they could just take it without compensation. Took seven years to resolve. They paid out millions over a $15k dispute. Make the loser’s lying lawyers pay would stop some of this.

  17. …military and law enforcement are probably mostly patriots, most of whom likely favor Olde English execution methods for the entire Biden family and Biden regime.

I frequent a mall near a major recruit training center. I often see what I presume are new boot camp graduates. Many of them look surprisingly soft and non-martial. I have to take another look to identify them, despite their distinctive clothing.

  18. “Shame on North Carolina and Kentucky. This is what comes from electing Democrat governors. And shame on the Democrat party.” Kate

    So too with Kansas.

  19. “…They paid out millions over a $15k dispute….”
“They’ being the city? Or “they” being the tax-payers?
(Similarly with any lawsuit “Biden” might happen to lose….)

    Glad that your family won.
Justice grinds slow but occasionally (even if it should be more often) prevails…

  20. Jordan Rivers— In 1967 I and my “roommates” were very unmilitary looking, even after Basic Combat Training was completed, uniform or not. We were kids (although we thought we were the “life takers & heart breakers” created by Hollywood) and it took some of the adventures of military service to provide the finished product. However, we all took the oath and although creeping up on 80, the Oath is still there. Maybe not as good as were once were, we are good once as we ever were. Or close to it.

Same thing goes for police officers. The real police. Many of us oldsters have history of both… As long as my right index finger works I am a threat to bad people.

  21. I recently saw a comment by a Border Patrol official, recalling the time Biden officials falsely accused horseback Border Patrol agents of “strapping” illegals with reins. Although proven false, Biden officials never admitted as much more apologized. Don’t expect any cooperation from BP, and rightly so.

  22. Actually:

“Democrat Governors” vs. “Republican Governors” is almost exactly the same map.

Only *VT* has a GOP governor but hasn’t sided with TX… yet.

And not a single Dem governor has sided with TX.

Quelle Suprise? I think not. 😀

  23. }}} “Eagle Pass is today’s Fort Sumter. Biden must federalize the Texas National Guard.” Subheadline: “The standoff between Gov. Abbott’s tin soldiers and U.S. Border Patrol is the greatest challenge to federal authority in 60 years. The president must act.”

Yeah, start a new Civil War, you idiots. Abbot’s “Tin Soldiers” are not about to surrender. And I would wonder — even after the Army officer purges — how much of the Army is going to attack US citizens acting in rational defiance of Federal failure to do its job… as opposed to “reasonable and rational” orders from the Federal government. You’re more likely to have entire companies, if not brigades or regiments — stand down and refuse to act, in defiance of their dress-wearing male officers.

We really do live in the apocryphal interesting times.

Too much of government thinks that the power to order means the power to expect the following of orders. They seem unaware of the maxim, “Never give an order which you are not sure will be followed…”

I think we have more sheep these days than ever before, but it’s still more than 25% who are not sheep. And the ones who are sheep are totally unable to do anything like make a decision and stand by it — given that some of them cannot handle a restaurant menu these days. Literally.

So, the fun is about to heat up. I have to wonder if there actually will be a legitimate election, this year. :-/
