Another police officer in the Chauvin case sentenced — 29 Comments

  1. On the Toronto survey of Downtown cell phone activity (Linked to in unthreaded recently by a frequent poster — THX), the comparative pre-pandemic versus now for Minneapolis is 40% — close to Portland and in the neighbourhood of SF at 32%.

    THEY DESERVE THIS.

  2. Would love to see Minneapolis go bankrupt. Whole state would be nice. Minnesota was a lovely place 40 years ago when I was in college- couldn’t pay me enough to go there now.

  3. It is perhaps worth remembering that autopsy showed Floyed was full of a lethal dose of fentanyl when encountering Chauvin. Where are the filed appeals from Thao’s lawyers?
    Minneapolis is leftism run amuck.

  4. So was Thao supposed to let the crowd surge forward and engulf the officers and Floyd? When is a mob not a mob, and how on earth is Thao supposed to know what that group would do if uncontrolled? And while Thao is keeping his eye on all of that, he’s also supposed to know that Floyd has stopped breathing, and he’s supposed to do something about that, too?

The problem is that the average person wonders things like “Why didn’t you shoot the weapon out of his hand?” like that’s a reasonable task. Also they appear to think that cops should have to wait until you actually pull out and display a weapon before they shoot you because that’s how it works in the movies, their reflexes are that good. (IE what happened to Jacob Blake, he started reaching under the dash of the SUV/minivan. The cops have no idea what it was and they’re not expected to give you the benefit of the doubt since nobodies reflexes are that good.)

Of course wasn’t Thao actually being trained at the time? So he’s supposed to know without training that what he was doing was unreasonable and that he was supposed to know the intent of the crowed. All with no training.

  5. the objective is to destroy the country, by demoralizing law enforcement, why do we pretend otherwise, it’s like the levick group strategy but imported into this country,

  6. Is it to flip the script? Make it impossible to enforce the law until #BLM/ANTIFA is the law? If it is they won’t like what happens

  7. the average person wonders things like “Why didn’t you shoot the weapon out of his hand?” like that’s a reasonable task.

Not an average person, but a fool in childhood watching the Lone Ranger in the 1950s.

  8. Maybe I’m not the average person.i was reliving my F14 years. We’re both obsolete. Me and the jet.

You can’t shoot the bow. Shoot the archer

  9. I’m actually a good shot. Handgun, rifle, bow and shotgun the reason why is because people were depending on me

  10. There’s a whole lot of hate in that Judge’s sentence. Lots and lots of hate. And a bunch of insane, too. Ugly, nasty stuff.

This outrageous sentence and the disgusting trial and blatantly unjust sentence of Chauvin only “make sense” (using the term loosely) by realizing that the abuses of the legal system aren’t really about the poor unfortunate defendants. This is an entire society of liberals venting against evil. The hate-filled liberals of Minnesota are using these cops as Goldsteins against whom they need to rage. They are punishing evil! The actual facts are irrelevant. Indeed, the real facts are merely a distraction from the far more important exercise of their demonstrating their opposition to evil.

I think there are some very serious parallels to what we are seeing from liberals in their obsessive hatred of Trump.

  11. Judge wanted him weeping and begging for leniency. When Tao maintained his non-guilt it made his honorless mad.
Judge needs to get it twice.

  12. Like so many other cities, I expect that Minneapolis will cry crocodile tears because they cannot hire police officers, forgetting that they are the poster child when it comes to savaging their police.

In other news, today the Gov of Mass joined the chorus of Sanctuary or Progressive venues that are whining about the influx of migrants. The Gov is wringing her hands, and demanding national taxpayer dollars, because there are 20,000 of ‘them’ in her state. I expect the Gov of Texas is appropriately sympathetic.

One has to be blind to irony to behave so ironically.

Speaking of which. Our CinC (Criminal in Chief) flew across country to the Grand Canyon on our great carbon emitting jet to give a speech on conservation. His statements were typically confused, of course; but that is the new normal.

  13. I think there are some very serious parallels to what we are seeing from liberals in their obsessive hatred of Trump.

Yes, and they are going to be eaten by the loonies they are encouraging. I would not be a cop in Minneapolis for anything and I suspect I am typical. The passive left are going to regret this but it will be too late.

  14. That entire crew got shafted, Chauvin in particular. Why anybody would want to still be a cop in this country is beyond me. It’s just all-around sad and infuriating.

  15. Cicero’ Heard the shoot gun out of hand recently from educated folks. Also, “in the leg”‘.
I wonder about jurors in such cases. Are they all bitter fools? Are they afraid for their safety?

For anyone that hasn’t heard this the governor has been asking for residents to take in “immigrants”. Given that the residents here literally amended the constitution to increase taxes(millionaire’s tax) they so deserve this. (I think I mentioned that plus the whole fungibility of money.)

  17. “Cahill found wrote in his 177-page ruling in May that Thao’s actions separated Chauvin and two other former officers from the crowd, including an emergency medical technician. The judge said this allowed the officers to continue restraining Floyd and prevented bystanders from rendering medical aid.”

It sounds like the “emergency medical technician” was just a person in the mob who happened to have EMT training, and not one of the actual EMTs who were summoned by the police; i.e. someone who testified that they had certification in CPR and was certain he could have saved Floyd’s life if he was just allowed to pass by Thao.

As neo said, I didn’t realize it was a police officer’s job to allow a mob to swarm officers arresting a suspect on the chance one of these “bystanders” has emergency medical training.

  18. We now have two major cities declaring a state of emergency due to out-of-control crime–DC & Oakland. NYC & Massachusetts have declared a state of emergency due to out-of-control illegal immigrants overwhelming their services.
    Boo freaking hoo.

  19. …Also they appear to think that cops should have to wait until you actually pull out and display a weapon before they shoot you because that’s how it works in the movies…

Or, as I have tried to point out elsewhere, all demonstrations are peaceful, up until the moment they aren’t. So how are you to know?*

*No, I’m not suggesting shooting anyone with a placard.

  20. from the post millennial link the atty for so called antifa, clearly threatened the jurors, and they reacted accordingly,
