California bill will add “gender affirmation” to list of elements that will determine child custody in courts — 43 Comments

  1. What’s even more depressing is to think that there’s a fairly reasonable chance that Gavin Newsom will be president one day, if not in ’24, probably in ’28. He possesses all the superficial charms that many voters like. I’m sure the New York Times has already prepared a glowing hagiography of him.

  2. Talk about fascism, “Everything inside the state, nothing outside the state, no one against the state.” What else can you call it when a government bureaucrat but not parents can make decisions about their children’s health.

  3. The issue of gender affirmation appears to be starkly divided between red and blue. The proposed California law would especially impact red/blue divided families. Note to conservative leaning people – parents or not – get away from entanglements with the increasingly toxic blue side. Police in blue cities is another prime example. The war that the blue/woke side is waging has no civil limits, and they appear to be waging it to the bitter end.

Although they desperately want to wreak havoc on conservatives, they frequently do it to and among themselves. It’s nasty business over there. Keep away from them if at all possible.

  4. To modify an old one…
“Would the last person to leave California please turn off the lights and close the door?”

Any sentient normal people who stay there from henceforth are going to get what they ought to know will be unpleasant.

  5. The very shocking development here, to my mind, is that the notion of informed consent and “age of consent” is being tossed out the window. Isn’t the latter the crux of statutory rape crimes? Are we ready to dispense with those crimes?

  6. Ira:

My brain has never being clear. Ba da bing.

Seriously, I read somewhere once that studying algebra is critical to brain development. I believe it.

  7. Ira’s an IP lawyer. Now that takes some REAL brain power. I’m writing a brief for the NE S. Ct. on a will contest case. Talk about pain! I’ve read appellate briefs in one IP case involving Apple. I barely understood it.

  8. A classmate of mine was a divorce lawyer. He told me that that wives often cooked up custody disputes on a Friday so the husband had to spend the weekend in jail. The same thing will happen here.

CA always leads the nation on all things cultural. But I can’t imagine this crazy idea coming to NE.

These people are fools and idiots and they don’t even know that they are fools and idiots. That’s the worst of it.

  9. My office is next to 2 “mental health therapists.” What a scam. These women (98% of the customers are women) just gossip, complain and bitch. “My dad.” “My spouse.” “My mother.” Like, like, like.

    The like-o-meter runs wild.

I’d bet they are all Dems.

  10. TommyJay says, “The very shocking development here, to my mind, is that the notion of informed consent and ‘age of consent’ is being tossed out the window.”

States are presently more concerned with the harm done to nonconsenting animals than to the issue of informed consent with human children. A professor of chemical engineering (not, be it noted, of psychology or one of the humanities) at Penn State was just fired for being caught having sex with his collie (more than once) along a trail in a state forest near the campus: An award-winning Penn State professor who has been arrested in a sickening bestiality case involving his pet collie begged rangers to shoot him, telling them “I need to die” — as it was claimed that he’s been performing lewd acts in a state forest for nearly a decade, according to court documents. Themis Matsoukas, 64, became “nervous” and then began to “panic” when officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) showed up on his doorstep earlier this month to search his home, after he was allegedly caught on a trail camera performing sexual acts with his dog.

    https://nypost.com/2023/06/15/penn-states-themis-matsoukas-begged-rangers-to-kill-him/

I suppose that if the dog had indicated that it identifies as a cat and just wants transspecies affirmation, the rangers might have left Matsoukas off with a warning.

  11. Perhaps the only thing preventing the left from overwhelming conservatives is their focus on LGBTQwerty for our children. And it focuses the minds of conservatives like nothing else.

This is a lesson for us…whether or not the left loses over this abomination, which is likely but not certain, their true colors have been revealed. I’ve thought about this in depth. What is their motivation for what is seen by the vast majority of people as twisted and obscene? They want to destroy society to rebuild it as they see fit.

So let us fight them with our every action. Boycott, divest and sanction whenever possible. Call out, at every opportunity, that they are coming for our kids. They are groomers and want to destroy us through our kids! Mock them early and often. They really have little to no support among independents and conservatives. We outnumber them…we should act like it.

  12. I watched this video yesterday:
    __________________________________________

If you love your children, you need to flee California. You need to flee.

–Senator Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, “Republican State Senator Tells Parents to Flee California Amid LGBTQ+ Laws Targeting Children”

I’m glad I left California. New Mexico, however, may not be far enough.

  13. Evil.

How many examples do we need?

-Killing viable babies at 40 weeks.
    -Mutilating children.
-Aiding sex traffickers bringing tens of thousands of children to be sex slaves.
-Helping traffickers turn children into slave laborers.
    -Helping foreign enemies.
-shredding the constitution and denying people basic human rights

  14. cb says, “In the video Biden can be heard saying, ‘These are our kids. Not somebody else’s kids. They’re all our kids.'”

“All our kids” except the granddaughter that Brandon refuses to acknowledge.

  15. Pediatrics has always been a Leftist-favoring specialty. It is a boring, unchallenging specialty, says this doc. How many well-baby/child visits can one endure to do every day? It is the bulk of the practice. Poorly compensated to boot.
The worst is the American Psychiatric Association, with 38,000 docs, the most Leftist of all, with HQ in D.C!, and the highest suicide rate of any medical specialty.

  16. Cicero, I agree with both assertions. When I was in practice we had a significant pediatric surgery practice, plus of course trauma. We had a problem finding pediatricians who could be trusted to work with sick kids. Most send sick kids off to Childrens Hospitals. The problem is when there is not one close.

  17. Remember this:

If they say children can consent to puberty blockers at 9, 10, 11 years old…what else can they consent to?

I’m telling you, that’s where this is headed. If kids can consent to a “sex change,” kids can consent to sex. The pedos are behind this.

  18. TommyJay, “Are we ready to dispense with those crimes?” Sadly, for the left, the answer is, “Yes.” If elementary school children are to be taught about sexual practices, sexual interests, and whether they might be in the wrong body, what’s to stop adults from involving children in sexual activity?

  19. If elementary school children are to be taught about sexual practices, sexual interests, and whether they might be in the wrong body, what’s to stop adults from involving children in sexual activity?

    –Kate

I figured the next sexual frontier to be pressed would be the lowering of the age of consent to European standards (as low as 14 years old).

Trans took me quite by surprise.

Mind you, I don’t believe trans rules out a lowered age of consent. Not at all. In fact it’s easy to imagine, once trans is fully in place, that the age of consent will be easy pickings.

  20. huxley, all the old standards are evaporating. I have some hope that enough enraged parents and grandparents can stop the sexualization of small children. Alternatively, careful parents are removing their children from state schools to avoid this toxic indoctrination.

  21. And I’m beginning to think that all parents should remove their children from California, Minnesota, and New York.

  22. Gender is sex-correlated attributes (e.g. sexual orientation): masculine and feminine.

Trans- refers to a state or process of divergence from normal (e.g. fitness-correlated distribution).

Transvestites are trans/social, where a society establishes standards to normalize a favorable juxtaposition of the sexes.

Gender conversion therapy is processed through surgical mutilation, medical dysfunction, and/or psychiatric psychosis.

That said, all’s fair in lust and abortion.

  23. all parents should remove their children from California, Minnesota, and New York.

And remove their parents from Michigan… the governor from planned parent/hood.

  24. If kids can consent to a “sex change,” kids can consent to sex. The pedos are behind this.

    TommyJay:

Indeed they are putting their pedo shoulders to the wheel. The entertainment/fashion industry is ground zero.

I recommend the site, “Vigilante Citizen.” Yes, they are a bit crazy, but it’s a crazy world and they’ve got a finger on that pulse.

Here’s a sample wacko story about a genderless line of children’s clothes that Celine Dion (Celine Dion!) is hawking:
    ______________________________

Since wrapping up her Las Vegas residency, Céline apparently found a new mission: To “free” newborns from gender binarity. Because that was the main complaint of newborns. To do so, she released CELINUNUNU, a “gender-neutral” clothing line for babies created in conjunction with the global fashion brand NUNUNU.

The CELINUNUNU promo features Céline Dion sneaking into a maternity ward and altering the look of other people’s children.

    https://vigilantcitizen.com/latestnews/something-is-terribly-wrong-with-celine-dions-genderless-clothing-line/
    ______________________________

Take a look at the photos and text. At first he babies are dressed in blue for boys and pink for girls. Then Celine does her sparkly magic and transforms the kids with odd black-and-white designs. Très creepy.

Or watch the promotional video, which shows her then being arrested by hospital security. It’s sixties civil disobedience all over again!

    https://www.facebook.com/fox26houston/videos/announcing-celinununu-a-new-clothing-line-for-children/251987832162261/

  25. The video begins with Céline sitting in the back of an SUV. She says:

“Our children are not really our children”.
    ___________________________

    Guess what that means.

I’m not sure how it works, but there appears to be a coordinated campaign pressing the leftist agenda with occult-sexual imagery

Note that when Celine transforms the maternity ward from the terrible Pink/Blue binary world to the black-white-sparkly-symbols non-binary world, the Male/Female bathroom symbols become white-on-black strobing crosses.

Damn strange stuff. And there’s plenty of it.

Where have you gone, Céline Dion?

  26. My office is next to 2 “mental health therapists.” What a scam. These women (98% of the customers are women) just gossip, complain and bitch. “My dad.” “My spouse.” “My mother.” Like, like, like.
    ==
It would be less distressing if the customers were paying out of pocket.

  27. Cornhead on June 15, 2023 at 4:26 pm
“… that studying algebra is critical to brain development… ”
Yes, it introduces you to a level of abstract thinking that children might not yet have experienced (unless they read SciFi). Then you are prepared to tackle the really hard stuff like calculus, quantum mechanics, followed by post modernism and “Woke”, “CRT”, DEI, etc. Finally you are qualified to pursue a degree in psychology or education. With graduate work in community organizing or social justice [aka Just Us].

And Cornhead at 4:36pm: “The like-o-meter runs wild.” Or alternatively, “… you know” runs a close second, or perhaps “right! … right!”.
Yes, like, you know, verbal fingernails on a blackboard!! Right!?

Finally, TJ at 1:58am: in regard to State Senator Wilk’s speech, just WOW!!

  28. Huxley,
Re: the vigilant citizen. I hear you.
As a wise man once said; ‘It’s not the Loch Ness Monster, but it’s bigger than a goldfish.’
    Exhibit A, Balenciaga.

  29. This Pride stuff is a religion. If we can’t figure out how to treat it as one, it’s going to destroy our society by undermining its basic premises.

It would never be permissible to put a cross in a place of honor between two American flags on government property, let alone on the White House. It would never be permissible to consider a profession of Christian faith over other creeds as a plus factor for child custody. It would never be permissible for any other religious sect to sterilize and grotesquely mutiliate children on the basis of an unfalisfiable metaphysical belief.

In a free society, those things should not be permissible! But they are for Pride and Woke, or whatever we’re allowed to call it.* And that’s a big part of what is tearing the country apart.

(The name game has been a boon for the Woke Pridesters or Proud Wokesters or whatever. They change their name every year or so. Then they loudly insist that continuing to use the name that they previously called themselves is bigotry and claim that this, somehow, proves that they don’t actually exist and are just being imagined by their political opponents.

That strategy is very effective politically. There’s only so much political oxygen out there, and the left sucks up a considerable amount of it with dumb arguments over whether they actually have a name. But I actually think that their behavior is more interesting as a religious matter. In many religious traditions, knowing the name of someone (or something) implies power over that person or thing, at least because once you know the name of something, you can speak of it. The left, in a profounding religious manner, is trying to deny its opponents the power to speak its name.)

  30. perversion abomination is the point of the exercise, this is why they stole the election, why they persecute parents and let rioters loose, why they propagate these heresies to science and God,

  31. I still think there will come a time when this tranny thing will collapse into a blizzard of medical malpractice suits the way recovered memories did. Recovered memories was driven by money as insurance companies stopped paying for it once Gary Ramona won his lawsuit. It got started about the time that medical insurance cut back on payment for psychology. By the time of the lawsuit, the national psychology meetings included “workshops” on “how to recover memories.” Obamacare and Medicare have cut back on surgical payments. I retired from Surgery 30 years ago so I am not up to date but it was starting then . This is a cash cow for unscrupulous docs.

  32. The issue of gender affirmation appears to be starkly divided between red and blue.

My blue friends insist vehemently that the red side is attacking strawmen on many subjects, but especially with regard to CRT and transgender activism.

I am willing to concede that the common run of Democrat voters do not support either racial preferences that take from one ethnicity to give to another, or transing the children, as Ben Shapiro puts it. But the problems are that the blue forces that do support and advocate for these things are in the ascendant, that the tactic of crying “Racism!” and “Whatever-phobia!” to choke off debate (not just cut it off, but choke it off) has become absolutely mainstream, and that that common run of Democrat voters either don’t pay attention to these trends or will not stand against them.

Why should they? Even if they are aware of this California bill, think it’s a terrible idea, and believe that most people will agree with them, why should any Democrat voter speak up about it when they know that someone on the right will do that dirty work and bear the brunt of public denigration for it?

It’s like when one party or the other in Congress really agrees with the other party on some topic but knows that to say so will cost them votes, so they recruit a Manchin to vote for the other side to make sure the bill fails. I imagine that’s how normal California Democrats see this transing of children thing. They don’t have to stick their necks out; the result will be the same – the bill will fail because all the Republicans and a few of the Democrats in public office will defeat it. Or, in an initiative, all the Republican voters and enough of the Democrat voters – including themselves if they’re confident the balloting will remain secret – will vote to defeat it.

Which is great, until it doesn’t work. See also Hitler, with apologies for Godwining up the thread.

  33. “It’s already happening,” Friday explained. “It happened to me when I refused to call my daughter by a male name and use male pronouns. CPS showed up at my doorstep. The police followed.”

If Sgt. Joe Friday isn’t safe, then no one is safe.

  34. “It’s not the Loch Ness Monster, but it’s bigger than a goldfish.”

    MollyB:

    I’ll remember that one!

I like a good conspiracy theory, but “Vigilante Citizen” often exceeds my suspension of disbelief.

Nonetheless there’s something there. For instance, each month VC focuses on the latest entertainment/fashion images featuring people with one eye closed/blocked/covered so the individual appears one-eyed.

    The Egyptian “Eye of Horus”?

Even Dolly Parton has gotten the one-eye treatment:

    https://wmmr.com/galleries/dolly-partons-rock-album-every-confirmed-guest-appearance/

  35. …people with one eye closed/blocked/covered so the individual appears one-eyed.

    Like “neo?” :-O

  36. “Alternatively, careful parents are removing their children from state schools to avoid this toxic indoctrination.”

Hence the WAR against Charter Schools.
