England bans puberty blockers for minors at gender clinics — 15 Comments

  1. Griffin, so wealthier parents can still damage their children if they want to. Sad.

These drugs and hormones are powerful medications with possible serious short-term and long-term negative effects. They should not be given to children with normal sexual development at all.

  2. Well, they should all go to Madison, WI which is about to become a “sanctuary county” for those poor children so they can get the drugs and surgeries they need.

sigh… I wonder how many other places will follow suit in order to mutilate children?

  3. Griffin and Kate:

So the upper crust or wealthy elites will destroy their children through sterility/infertility and remove their progeny. Ironic, an issue that will destroy them. Self loathing or stupidity?

  4. charles stross, follow up to the laundry series, which is half lovecraft half bond, has a elder God, a black pharoah, take over England (this was his rational response to brexit, lol)

  5. Trying to grok parents who’d do this to their children. Has to be some reason but…?
    Anybody?

  6. Recently, YouTube censored Jordan Peterson interview with former Economist staff writer Helen Joyce (PhD, math) about her new book on the Trans-Mania: “Trans | When Ideology Meets Reality | Helen Joyce | Episode 365”, in which he recurses to the deep and substantial philosophical issues raised by Trans with dogged alacrity.

Elon Musk then decided to host it on Twitter — two hours long.

  7. TJ,

See first comment of this thread for interview with Helen Joyce today on this topic.

  8. Richard Aubrey–

Sgt. Mom at Chicago Boyz suggests that such parents are looking for praise and validation from their progressive peers (in addition to the base motives of other adults): “Now it’s a particularly vicious combine; messed-up adults wanting to generate a good supply of similarly messed up juniors so as to have their pick of sexual partners down the line, deranged parents looking for social kudos among their peers, [emph. mine] and teens going through the awkward stage being influenced by social media to no good end. It has also been suggested in a couple of different comment threads that it’s an out for white teens and pre-teens being blamed for everything imaginable under the sun. They can climb a couple of more levels above their status as white oppressors by joining another and slightly higher class of the so-called oppressed. The current trans-fad also gives a perfect out for messed up adults to get a sexual kick out of displaying their particular kinks in front of an audience – no matter if it is their kindergarten class, the genuine women in a gym changing room or a Target bathroom.”

    Thanks for the reference.

If so, what were these messed-up parents doing to their kids before this came along?
As I mentioned in the thread referring to C.S. Lewis warning about the “ring”, I don’t recall doing much to get into the in-group–whatever that may have been in a given environment. Nor, in looking back, did my brother or sister. We were not mavericks, going out of our way to go out of our way.
I suspect we looked pretty normal but…didn’t seem to have the need to belong. If something looked good, yeah, why not? But, from my own experience, I sometimes felt like the outsider in a group I joined because it was doing something. Didn’t care if I was “accepted” and didn’t go further.

In retrospect, it might have been, as I’ve said earlier, that my parents didn’t think their kids had peers. Didn’t need anybody else’s positive regard.

Not to brag, it was just a thing. But it makes it difficult to think the need to belong–to earn a top-end fashion accessory, maybe–is so strong now as to impose this atrocity on your own kid and/or approve of its common usage and social approval to do more and more of it.

Was gender dysphoria this common back, say, ten years? Or has a temporary case of teen angst been forcibly turned into it? Up until, maybe, five years ago, you waited it out, kept your kid positive and….it was gone. Is there something in the water?

I keep thinking of the Slenderman stabbings. What if Slenderman had had the social cachet and enormous pressure, social media presence, political opportunity, opportunity for being a cash cow for the medical guys, part of the woke avalanche we see for trans surgery. It was two twelve year olds who concluded they had to murder a friend to become acolytes for Slenderman. If Slenderman had had the place trans has today, how many, I wonder, kids would have been murdered or almost murdered by other early teens?
