Will Hunter be charged? And if so, with what, and when? And why?
Yesterday the WaPo reported on Hunter Biden:

So let’s speculate on why the WaPo might be reporting this now; after all, the FBI has had the evidence for years. If Hunter is charged, it will be for something relatively minor and will not involve his father at all. If he’s convicted the penalties are likely to be a wrist slap. The Bidens can also say – as Hunter’s lawyer does – that he’s being politically persecuted, to counter accusations from the right about Trump being politically persecuted by prosecutors. And the larger federal issues involving Hunter and Joe Biden would go without any followup. From that same Forbes article:
The Justice Department’s investigation was originally centered on Hunter Biden’s financial and business dealings in foreign countries, including his work for businesses and tycoons in Ukraine and China, starting when Joe Biden served as vice president. Investigators looked at whether Hunter Biden violated foreign lobbying laws, campaign finance and tax laws, as well as federal firearm laws, before eventually narrowing their focus to tax and gun-related charges, multiple anonymous sources told CNN in July. Ethical questions have been raised over the years about Hunter Biden’s consulting and investment work abroad, including whether he properly paid taxes for that work…Senate Republicans in recent weeks have pushed for the White House to appoint a special counsel to take control of the criminal investigation to ensure the investigation is free from political influence, though Garland has denied the request, according to the Post.

Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump and whom Attorney General Merrick Garland chose to oversee the case, still has to choose whether to bring charges against the president’s son, the outlet reported.
Most articles I’ve read mention that Weiss was appointed by Trump but leave out the “chosen by Garland” part. What is Weiss’s background? This article from April mentions that he’s kept a low profile, and says he’s a Republican. That’s about it for information, except for this kind of thing:
The former associate described Weiss as a moderate Republican who is apolitical in his work. “He is not a Trumper nor is he close to Biden.”
Then-President Donald Trump appointed Weiss to be U.S. Attorney in Delaware in 2018. He had been acting head of the office at the time and received the endorsements of Delaware’s U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons, both Democrats.
Doesn’t seem at all like the sort of person who would go scorched-earth on the Biden family – who have been powerful movers and shakers in Delaware for a long long time.
Also, there’s always the possibility of a pardon from Dad, because this would be a federal case.
However, Jesse Watters – who’s ordinarily a pretty cynical guy – is less cynical than I am about what will happen:
He also thinks this is the beginning of throwing Joe under the bus in order to make it so that he will not run for re-election in 2024. I remember there were people who thought that would happen not long after Biden was inaugurated, but here it is over a year and a half later and no end in sight – perhaps in part because Harris’s vice-presidency has turned so disastrous. I have long felt that the powers behind the presidential throne have preferred having someone like Biden as president whom they can control fairly well, and although over time Biden has become more and more of an obvious liability, until they have a decent replacement I predict they will not get rid of him.
Do they have a replacement now? Newsom? I don’t think they’re satisfied that he has much national appeal. I think they’re still looking around.
Yesterday, Joe Biden cryptically said, “No one f***s with a Biden.” I say “cryptically” because it seemed to come out of nowhere:

There’s no question that the Bidens f*** with various other entities: the country and prostitutes, for starters. But will the Delaware US Attorney f*** with a Biden? Was that a warning from Joe that he better not do so?
Depends on who should bring charges. I would say the likelihood is very, very, very low.

We are in an alternate universe; and I do not know if we can escape.
Biden got his photo op; and could not refrain from showing his derriere.
All else aside, I guess it is now considered sophisticated, by men and women alike, to use “gutter language” in public forums. Disclaimer. During 25 years in the Navy I heard plenty of it, and not just from Bosun’s Mates. In certain environments, my own language would have seen me spanked in my younger years. Among pilots there was a term, “Ready Room language”; and it generally stayed in the Ready Room. Of course, Ready Rooms are now binary, or beyond; so, I wonder if female aviators think they have to “out cuss” the boys the way that female entertainers and talking heads now do. In my last squadron we had a female working on the flight line whose language would blister paint. I was tempted, but refrained, from asking if she did that to ‘fit in’ or if that was the way she normally talked. Mothers and Grandmothers all over the country must be restless in their graves. The trend adds noting to our culture.
Oh, and I will not hold my breath in anticipation of Hunter ever seeing the inside of a prison. Jail cell after some escapade until Dad can get him out–maybe. Or will Dad dump him if he becomes more of a liability than he now is?

Wonder if Hunter would be tried, because doing so while dad is President may lead to better terms and be done in such a way as to “protect” the family from any other litigation, such as the “big guy’s cut”. Whether prosecution leads to an impeachment is irrelevant to me, because either a Republican led Congress will impeach Biden for whatever they want to (as Democrats did to Trump), or they’ll wimp out as usual. To be clear for others, I’m happy with Republicans impeaching Biden for a damn good reason (of which there seems many), especially since they’ll lack the votes to remove Biden from office. However, Democrats showed us that impeachment is now a democratic solution only dependent on who controls the House.

And maybe it is now, although as a member of the Unwashed, and also a MAGA Fascist, I virtually never hear some of their favorite words in actual conversation. If I do, I make a value judgement. BTW, when I characterized the language, I might have been more accurate to call it “playground” language. That would fit with your authenticity theory. It also explains Biden’s usage in a totally inappropriate setting. At the age of seven or eight, I had a neighbor a couple of years older, who used the most disgusting language; and I being clueless at that point would sometimes repeat it–although, fortunately, never in the hearing of Mother, or a member of the neighborhood Mother’s Patrol. I assume he heard it at home. I have no idea whether or not he knew what he was saying. He was an undersized, but mean, bully as well. Kind of like Biden
The idea that Hunter could rake in millions and his father a) not be aware of it, and b) not take a cut, is laughable. The Democrats rely on media and big tech manipulation to commit fraud on the American people. Everyone knows this and has for years.

I have to agree, with no moves to appoint some kind of Special Prosecutor to keep the efforts in the spotlight, I think it will slide. There’s a lot being made of it in the Rino-legacy media, but the gun application charge is low-grade and the back-taxes charge concerns taxes that were paid back last year.
Julie Kelly’s prediction is similar to neo’s — that they will indict Hunter on something mild, like tax issues, so that when they indict Trump they can point to the Hunter indictment to pretend they’re being fair to all.
There is a greater probability that Vladimir Putin will resign as the leader of Russia, come out as a transgender female and be elected the president of Ukraine, than anybody within the Biden family / camp being held accountable in any way for their crimes/transgressions.
The deep state, led by joke bidet and the demonkrats will see to that.
The DOJ , FBI, NSA, IRS, et. al., is too busy chasing down phantom right wing extremists, anti-abortion folks, parents of school age kids protesting pro-transgender/ female impersonator “performances” at their kid’s schools, and …..

There’s no way to remove Biden before 2024 without putting Harris in the Oval Office. Even Democrats seem to be afraid of that. Which means they’ll have to primary Biden, but how do you do that? Biden isn’t a DC outsider like Jimmy Carter in 1980. There’s no way to run against Biden without putting the political establishment on trial.
Even if Hunter goes to prison, Joe is going nowhere. What’s going on now is:
1. Some in the media trying to reclaim their self-respect.
2. People trying to tell Biden’s handlers to get their crap together.
3. People positioning for if Biden gets so bad it can’t be hidden at all.
