  1. Kevin Downey on why lefties love abortion. https://pjmedia.com/columns/kevindowneyjr/2022/06/22/as-a-former-liberal-i-can-assure-you-leftists-celebrate-abortion-because-they-hate-you-n1607118

All comes down to how much they hate.

Remember Jonathon Haidt’s findings that conservatives and moderates understand lefties very well, but lefties have no understanding of them. Lefties hate so strongly, so viciously, that they are incapable of understanding people who disagree with them. They assume and deeply believe that any and all disagreement must be based on a defective moral character.

Actually, the source of the disagreement IS a defective moral character, but the defect resides in the leftist. They hate.

Downey’s point is important. So much of what animates the left is their hatred of the caricature they have come to believe about all who disagree.

I have a “friend” from college who proudly put up on facebook a poem he wrote last week. It was a nasty, defamatory rant against people who call themselves patriots. It accuses them of racism, nativism, etc.

The hatred dripped from every stanza in a poem that purported to stand against hatred.

  2. SCOTUS just struck down New York State’s gun licensing law, 6-3, the opinion written by Clarence Thomas:

In District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U. S. 570 (2008), and McDonald v. Chicago, 561 U. S. 742 (2010), we recognized that the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect the right of an ordinary, law-abiding citizen to possess a handgun in the home for self-defense. In this case, petitioners and respondents agree that ordinary, law-abiding citizens have a similar right to carry handguns publicly for their self-defense. We too agree, and now hold, consistent with Heller and McDonald, that the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect an individual’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/06/supreme-court-strikes-down-restrictive-new-york-gun-licensing-law/

As you might expect, the governor is thinking up ways to oppose the decision.

  3. Furthermore

Alito responds to dissent… though Heller concerned the possession of a handgun
in the home, the key point that we decided was that “the people,” not just members of the “militia,” have the right to use a firearm to defend themselves. And because many people face a serious risk of lethal violence when they venture outside their homes, the Second Amendment was understood at the time of adoption to apply under those circumstances.

  4. I find [the current, [Jan.6 riot] hearings], unwatchable.

I think that Ms. Liz Cheney, + the rest of the hearing’s panel, are trying to blame Trump for all of the violence, + crimes, that happened on that day, + the causes of these crimes.

    I think this is unfair.

I don’t think that Ms. Cheney, or the other people on the panel, are trying to look objectively at: the events that led up to that riot / whichever term people think is better, the riot on that day, + ways to prevent riots like that one and political extremes that cause such riots/similar problems.

For what it’s worth- to me, it looks like a lot of political theater.

I’d rather the people of the Federal Government would look at other means, to solve these problems.

  5. All New York had to do was change “may issue” to “shall issue” and their law would have passed scrutiny.

  6. ok can we stop pretending honestly, the goal they are looking for is the roman word proscription or banning, because to believe that this regime is legitimate, is thought crime of the highest order, now liz cheney’s mourning for general suleimani is bordering on unseemly, jamie raskin is acting out what his soviet front man father always wanted, bennie thompson, was a supporter of proto BLM new africa movement, they are the threat to the Constitution, capisce,
this delta house stunt in itself means nothing, it’s like sanctioning otter for looting the food court, but the intent is much more malign,

  7. thats being charitable for a demon, she was an accessory to cuomo’s murder spree

  8. Also of note, for North Carolina, the Supreme Court ruled, 8-1, that the legislature is entitled in US District Court to defend the voter ID law it passed. Only Sotomayor dissented.

NC voters passed a voter ID constitutional amendment by an eleven-point margin. The law implementing the ID requirement mirrors laws in force in other states and makes many, many provisions to ensure that all voters have access. The NAACP sued, calling it “racist,” despite the fact that a majority of black voters support voter ID.

  9. yes that’s an important consideration kate, voter id was in abeyance in a number of states like wisconsin, because lockdown rules, consent decrees et al,

  10. why do I know this, because of their reaction to the alexandria shooter, who was incited by maddow and co, and encouraged by the staff of durbin and duckworth*
*conjecture, born out by subsequent events, or the two instances rand paul has been attacked, once at home, once in the streets of dc, so waterbuffalo guy, chansley, doesn’t impress, except in his dadaist philosophy,**
**tucker noted how colbert, wasn’t amused at all, by this monty python stunt,

  11. note they don’t actually enforce gun laws, so that is straight up bunkum, except this diktat, forged on mt doom,

  12. DOJ’s “respectful” disagreement with the SC’s ruling makes little sense. The Court ruled that a NY state law unreasonably restricted the Second Amendment right to bear arms. Not in the DOJ’s bailiwick.

  13. thats a bronx cheer in legal language, they will impose their diktat, and ignore the law (re trespassing on judges homes)

  14. Biden says the NY gun ruling “contradicts both common sense and the Constitution,” as if he knows anything about either.

  15. Examining anything those on the left say or do through a lens of fact, reason or logic is misplaced. Such have nothing to do with their expressed thoughts or actions.

It’s about gaining enough power and control to enact their fantasies. It is their divorcement from external reality that make them fantasies.

Indeed their disconnect from reality is so profound that when events fail to deliver the results desired, they refuse to consider whether they are consequential to the policies they advocate.

Which makes them unfit, both for civilized discourse and for participatory democracy.

  16. “Not in the DOJ’s bailiwick.”
No…except that EVERYTHING is in the “Biden” DOJ’s bailiwick (including, it seems, painting concerned parents of abused schoolkids as “Domestic Terrorists”(TM) and siccing the FBI on them.

That’s right, Merrick Garland has his sights on ALL possible opposition to “Biden”.
It may take a while but that’s the trajectory. (In fact, it’s well under way and may take less time than one thinks if the Democrats can figure out a way to consolidate total power.

    Speaking of which:
    “It’s Not A Turndown…It’s A Takedown” – Austin Fitts
    https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/its-not-turndownits-takedown-austin-fitts
    Key quotes:
‘“There is an official narrative, and the official narrative is they’ve got to stop inflation… Let’s look very simply at what happened. They voted on the direct reset. Then they injected $5 trillion into the economy that went to the insiders. Then they used Covid to shut down the economy run by the outsiders. Now, the outsiders want to open another business, and they are going to radically raise the cost of capital to the outsiders. What’s going to happen is that $5 trillion is going to buy more assets more cheaply. To me, this is part of centralizing the control of the economy. They are asserting very significant central control. This is not a turndown–this is a takedown.”… [Emphasis mine; Barry M.]
‘…”Let me tell you what the problem is. Doing things that create value on assets requires the rule of law. We are watching a very significant financial coup d’état. We have talked about this for years. That financial coup d’état is turning into a coup, and you are seeing a fundamental breakdown of law and order in many places. It is related to people trying to pick up assets. We see cities where crime is off the charts, and speculators are out having a field day picking up assets with that $5 trillion.”….’ [Emphasis mine; Barry M.]

  17. GB – While I believe Hanson is being hopeful…I think there’s an enormous amount going on right now that may portend more changes than simply cutting Biden loose.

  18. I came across a bald eagle pair on youtube. Friends of Big Bear valley

2 eggs, only 1 hatched, early march, size of a baseball. But not really sure. 3 1/2 months later its full size. They figure it to be female and females have 8 foot wingspans. Its already bigger than the father they say.

That said she doesnt know how to get her own food. Mom or Pop bring it. And when they do, Junior is a total bitch about it and doesnt share. Usually its fish. Sometimes its a grouse. Pooping is funny.

They dont sit in the nest as much now that junior flys. They pretty much roost nearby.

Now days at night 2 flying squirrels come by often and scavenge. The nest is huge but they only use it for birthing and feeding later.

  19. “…DOJ’s bailiwick…” (continued):
“Under Biden’s DHS, all dissenters are now ‘domestic extremists'”—

    H/T Instapundit.
    Key graf:
“…In its goal to make America more amenable to a ubiquitous, Big Brother–like federal government and its corresponding illiberal policies, the current occupants of White House and its tentacle agencies have borrowed the tactics of some of history’s most oppressive despots. The result will be a chilling effect on free speech and the airing of legitimate grievances against our government….”

Hmmm. Now here’s a tough one:
Why wouldn’t Pelosi want there to be enough security at the Jan. 6 protests?
    (Scratch head, look askance…)
“Investigators: Pelosi Responsible For Jan. 6 Security Breakdown At U.S. Capitol”—

    H/T Blazingcatfur blog.

Could it be that…she wanted, needed, planned it all?….
    Hmmmm.
    (Oh, and not just Pelosi….)

  20. Mollie Hemingway explains exactly why “Biden” is NOT worried about the elections in Novembers ’22 and ’24:
    The Federal takeover of elections….

    “Yes, Biden Is Hiding His Plan To Rig The 2022 Midterm Elections;
“The White House is refusing to share details about its coordinated efforts to engage in a federal takeover of election administration.”—

    H/T Powerline blog.

(Indeed, Susan Rice has been rather quiet over the past (long) while…)

  21. …according to which theory, the Jan. 6, hyper-inflation, and the destruction of America are merely DISTRACTIONS so that the Democratic party can achieve total domination “under the radar”….

(As long as you were wondering….)

  22. Cheney is one smart cookie.
(Her chicanery is likely making Hillary a bit jealous! And that’s saying something!!)
“Liz Cheney Wants Wyoming Democrats to Change Parties to Vote for Her in August Primary Election”
    https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/06/liz-cheney-wants-wyoming-democrats-to-change-parties-to-vote-for-her-in-august-primary-election/
    Opening graf:
“#NeverTrump Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney reportedly has sent instructions to Wyoming Democrats on how to change their party affiliations so they can vote for her…..”

But is it legal? (Never mind….)

  23. Cheney may not be as smart as she thinks she is. Analysts say there aren’t enough Democrats in Wyoming to make up her 30% deficit in the polls for the primary.

  24. Well, I’m sure that’s merely Plan A.
What about just busing in a whole lot of the illegals into the state and E.O-ing them the right to vote?
    And then there’s Plan C., no doubt….
