  1. Thank y’all for recommending The Three-Body Problem by Liu. Beginning reading. Intriguing.

  2. Who would have thought that just one more Tern alighting could lead to a complete overturning?

    Surfs up!

  3. Amazing. I was surprised that the waves that hit the coast were not larger. The Iceberg lost a lot of it’s mass.

  4. That would certainly have been a long flight for a Norwegian Blue Parrot, as the fjord in Greenland.

  5. AppleBetty:

Glad you’re intrigued by 3BP! I’ll have to catch up to you and Zaphod.

I must admit the initial Cultural Revolution material hit a bit too close to home these days.

  6. DISTURBING DATA ON COVID VAX MORTALITY out of the UK: all cause mortality data shows that for those under 60 years old, those vaccinated are suffering over twice the mortality rates of the unvaccinated.

    https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/4014428/posts

    Hmmmm.
The CDC is hiding Pfizer data on the trials before its roll out for 55 years! — so what horrors are our governmen hiding from the people?

It’s early innings, but the totalitarian Biden Ruling Class versus the people’s longing to be free demands a full Congressional inquiry to investigate this.

Does anyone believe the milk toast Pubbies can deliver that? Bwah Ha ha!

There are so many crises simmering to a boil — don’t we just need a brand new one like this?

One comment adds: “ Steve Kirsch has an article on revolver.news showing the same trend from Germany.”

  7. Could someone enlighten me on the demented left claim that Rittenhouse “crossed states lines…!!!” So, effing what? I know initially it was that he carried a gun across state lines, but in the trial it was shown the gun was stored at a relative’s house in Kenosha, so they dropped that part. So when BLM and Antifa types cross state lines to enjoy the riot du jour, how is that not a problem? I know, rhetorical question on the left hypocrisy. But still, what do they hope to gain with this ridiculous “he crossed state lines!!!”

  8. Physics guy, maybe they are grasping at straws.

I have just been reviewing some of the known information. His father lived in Kenosha. Kyle worked as a life guard in Kenosha. So, traveling the 15 miles from Antioch to Kenosha was not an unusual activity for him.

One person with whom I communicate, made a big point of his “lying about being an EMT” as he gave first aid for some minor injuries the night of the shooting, as though that had any relevance to the case. I suppose that embellishing your resume demonstrates a character flaw in a 17 year old, even though it is shrugged off when done serially by a President.

  9. My understanding is that Kyle lives in Chicago but was in Kenosha for the summer with a summer job.
He wasn’t … watching TV, getting angry and heading North to cause trouble.

  10. The crossing state lines thing is obviously ridiculous as there are dozens (hundreds?) of locations where crossing a state line is as simple as crossing a city street.

  11. I note with interest that, now that Seattle has elected a mayor from the Do Something About The Damn Homeless Already party, the Seattle Times has the … license? freedom? temerity? to publish an article about how the endless homeless camps and trash everywhere really are an eyesore and dangerous to boot, and plenty of Good People™ are sick to death of them.

    https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/at-green-lake-and-woodland-park-frustration-mounts-as-homelessness-changes-the-landscape/

Of course, it remains to be seen if the local homeless-industrial complex will actually allow their pet problem/money pipeline to be disrupted.

(Oh, and if you are certain that everyone in Seattle is a mindless prog memebot, read the comments and be disabused. Lots of residents are liberal but not leftist, and there are even a fair number of conservatives keeping their heads down.)

  12. Bryan Lovely,

Yes, it’s funny how when Eric Johnson and KOMO did their ‘Seattle Is Dying’ series the powers that be were not very happy and downplayed it but now that the homeless have moved from under I-5 or SoDo and into ‘gasp!’ the Green Lake neighborhood it’s now a serious problem.

  13. Griffin —

There have been homeless in and around Greenlake for years, just at the level where Good People™ could look past them while thinking “compassionate” thoughts.

But if the new policy on clearing camps and towing RVs is only an artifact of rich people being inconvenienced, I’ll take it. My quiet middle-income West Seattle neighborhood has at least four derelict RVs within four blocks of my house, and there are tents up and down the sidewalks near White Center junction four blocks in the other direction.

  14. Bryan Lovely,

Yep, here in the south sound it’s the same. I’ve lived in my house for over ten years and it is shocking how much it has changed. Within a mile of me there is the ‘RV street’ and there are a couple of parks in Lakewood that can be ‘head on a swivel’ scary.

I’ve always thought it would take a tragedy like a young woman being killed by a deranged homeless person to turn the tide on this but I have given up on thinking that. Sad what they have done to this amazing area.

  15. JimNorCal, no, Kyle doesn’t live in Chicago. He lives in Antioch, Illinois, with his mother; it’s a twenty-minute drive or so to Kenosha, where he had a summer job as a lifeguard.

  16. @AppleBetty & Huxley:

The order of the day is… Tuo shui!

    Dehydrate!

But before you do, may I recommend viewing Dune 2021. I watched it last night. There’s no overtly offensive Poz and deliberately unpleasant-looking POCs in the film — totally unlike Apple TV’s Foundation Serialisation which abounds with offensiveness to Beauty and Truth and not so subtle insults to Whiteydom.

So far has kept pretty close to the novel as I remember it. Only a few random POC insertions and gender flips. And you might guess that I have a pretty low threshold for being made irate by these. I’m not irate this time.

Cinematography and SFX are expansive but restrained. More Laurence of Arabia than the Baroqueness of Dune 1984.

Dune 2021 has a pretty good score, too. Leitmotive für den Sieg!

    @Huxley:

Tennis Bird has magically re-appeared in a widely-publicised video. Odds on her showing up with a Blue Check Twitter Account anytime soon remain low.

  17. Zaphod:

The Critical Drinker gives Dune “mostly” praise:

“Dune – Bold, Ambitious And (Mostly) Brilliant”
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2cAnvB9Ovg

    Good enough for me.

I’d like to see an adaptation of Herbert’s “The Dosadi Experiment.” The main character is an agent for the Bureau of Sabotage, which works to slow government down and even thwart it!

In the future the government has become so fast and efficient, it is recognized that the Bureau of Sabotage is essential to protect humans from the bureaucracy.

    ***

We’ll see about Peng Shuai. I don’t suppose the threat from the WTA had anything to do with it.

  18. @Huxley:

How many divisions does the WTA possess?

The CCP of Current Year has a healthy fear of the ire of its own people and won’t let things go too far in any direction. There’s no way she was going to get away with starting a #MeToo movement or a mass movement to bring down a member of the Politburo. There’s also no way that she’s going to become a Cause Celebre through being ‘disappeared’. The Middle Way FTW.

She’s likely to have some issues with her income tax. If there’s any truth to her allegations, guy whodunnit is likely to have bigger problems with unexplained assets after a suitable interval so that it can be plausibly denied that these issues are unrelated.

The great irony being that in 2021 the WTA probably has more moral authority than the Pope — which is not saying much.

    The Dosadi Experiment sounds interesting!

  19. Re: Legacy Americans…

    Zaphod:

Does I gets a gold watch with that? Or even a Swatch?

Oh, a Casio… That’s just dandy. Well, as long as I’m not “Returned for Regrooving.”
    ________________________________

This [Firesign Theatre] track segues into a future world in which the 1960s hippie counterculture has now replaced the mainstream cultural establishment.

Police (Proctor and Bergman) patrol searching for “non-groovy” people not in possession of drugs, such as a grandmother (Austin) whom they arrest to be “returned for re-grooving”.

A teenager named Malcolm X John Lennon (Austin) is still being breast-fed by his mother (Proctor), and gets in trouble with his school principal (Proctor) for studying instead of hanging out and “relating” with his peers by smoking marijuana.

A US senator who sounds like Robert F. Kennedy (Proctor) chairs a committee which also returns people for re-grooving, and the “Secretary of Peace” (Ossman) directs bomber aircraft to drop copies of “The Naked Lunch” on Nigeria.

Which would be silly, but not too horrible.

Unfortunately, we live in the future where the Weather Underground replaced the mainstream establishment.

  20. @Huxley:

    A Timex, I’d guess.

Per James Kraus Esq.: “Everybody Takes a Licking (err) Sometimes”

Regrooving has potential. I envisage it being done with a Pit and Pendulum though. Legacy American Gothic.

“Secretary of Peace” (Ossman) directs bomber aircraft to drop copies of “The Naked Lunch” on Nigeria.”

    Prescient.

Buy a gross of Casio F91Ws on Amazon if you get tired of life and decide to commit suicide by SWAT Team. I’ll bet there’s a watch on those purchases. Preferred digital watch of the finest Arab Bomb Makers.

  21. On the subject of Watches. Over the years I’ve owned and traded many. Got over my solid gold pimp daddy phase *before* 50 just to tick the box. Now I’m the gray man and wear very generic watches.

FWIW: anyone looking for a mechanical watch to survive the EMP apocalypse and see out your days with little or zero maintenance in a post-apocalyptic landscape as you channel Leibowitz might consider investing in a Vostok Amphibia. It’s like wearing a Lada Niva on your wrist. Inexpensive and rugged old school Soviet good enough for government work construction.

  22. Methinks that fellow in the middle of the video forgot his bug spray. Unfortunate. Or maybe the skeeters really are more aggressive up there and are not to be held back by mere chemicals.

Once I was in Hungary at a picnic in a camp not far from a certain river which I would be highly unlikely to be able to find ever again. The skeeters were out in force that afternoon. I saw one land on and sink its needle almost eyes-deep into a piece of cake. Cake, for crying out loud – brutally attacked by a ravenous mosquito. It was impressive to see. And then, the next day, there was the local raw paprika that, when included in a sandwich, set half my friend’s face on fire…. And earlier in the week, the time I nearly got smushed by a herd of horses on the Puszta….

But I’ve never seen an iceberg inversion. That was a treat.

(It’s the Inversion of the Bawdy Matchers! 🙂 )

  23. Re: Casio F91W

    Zaphod:

Amazon fails to mention the terrorist endorsement of the F91W, but here’s an article:
    ________________________________

Jihadi militants appreciated the F-91W and its dozens of variations for their resilience. Run it over with a car, smash it with a hammer, drop it in boiling or ice-cold water – the beast holds its own. You can generally trust terrorist organisations to pick reliable accessories – and much like Kalashnikovs and Toyota pickup trucks, the F-91W is sturdy, prolific, and cheap. It can also work as a key ingredient for bombs.

Specifically, the watch can reportedly come into play for the detonation of improvised explosive devices thanks to its long-lead timer, as NPR detailed in 2011. As such, the United States Department of Defense lists the watch as one of Al-Qaeda’s favoured IED triggers. Ahmed Ressam, or the “Millennium Bomber”, who planned to blow up Los Angeles airport on New Years Eve in 1999, was arrested with four bombs on him – all equipped with F-91Ws.

Obama once favored the watch and Ripley wore it in “Alien.” Sounds like it makes a great stocking stuffer.

  24. Re: Covid vaxxed vs unvaxxed deaths

    TJ:

That was a headscratcher. I’ve about given up trying to understand Covid. However, Instapundit offers an interesting comment:
    ____________________________________

Jim Bennett writes: “I wonder if the unvaccinated population has been checked for prior COVID exposure. It may be that most surviving over-60s in England have been infected with COVID and many had mild or no symptoms, and had acquired immunity without knowing it.”
    ____________________________________

    That makes sense.

  25. Thanks for noticing my post, huxley. But no, it doesn’t make sense because older folks over age 60 socialise less, and those younger socialise more. If prior Covid exposure explains anything, those younger ought to be affected more — maybe much more.

However, the roll out of the Covid Vax in Great Britain proceeded by age groups from older to younger. Correspondingly, and disturbingly, the all cause increase in excess deaths apparently jumps after each age group got the shot.

    FROM Instapundit’s commentary, Saturday night:

Jack Amok next bubble • 3 hours ago
You can tell yourself that fairy tale, but if you look at death rates by age bracket (e.g 50 to 60, 40 to 50, etc.) in Britain you’ll find that – since Britain rolled out vaccines in basically reverse-age order, the death rates for each age bracket jumps a few months after that group became eligible for the vaxx.

    It’s the vaxx.

Jabb, Stabb, Vaxx, clot-shot, Fauci’s Crime Against Humanity, there will be a few names for it in time.

    ===================

Of course, this only demonstrates correlation. Not causation.
    Suspicions are raised.

But the focus online is now opened up to critics who warned us of possible heart vulnerability to the jab. Among other objections.

Plus, I’m yet to see others replicate Berensen’s calculations. This remains big red flag not to leap to conclusions yet.

  26. Interesting iceberg video.
Now that we’re well into an obvious “Age of The Titanic” (IOW the Democratic Party) it makes sense to find out about icebergs and how they tick—though it seems likely that the usual suspects would only conclude from this video that a phenomenon such as the center of gravity is merely further proof of white privilege…and systemic racism…

Speaking of white privilege, here’s a rather cool video for flying buffs (and others) that’s ostensibly about hail…(but includes flying heroics and air crews that Kipling would appreciate…):
“One of the Most AMAZING Aviation Stories EVER told! TACA flight 110”

  27. Recovery via Covid Vax is turning to despair in Europe.

First, Lionel Shriver at the Spectator repeats what Revolver News has shared, (repeated by Summit New via Zerohedge here): https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/official-public-health-england-data-says-covid-infection-rates-higher-vaxxd-unvaxxd

And American in Germany, Pierre Gosselin, wails that after 30 years abroad, he’s contemplating his return to the US, as alarmist tyranny spreads North from lockdown Austria and elsewhere:
    https://notrickszone.com/2021/11/19/climate-issue-hardly-matters-anymore-austria-germany-europe-race-towards-medical-tyranny/

NOTE the comments by LarsDane in Denmark, as well as the Aussie in South Australia (Adelaide being the capitol), a few posts above his.

Shrivel adds, citing data in the Times (London), “[en]titled ‘The absurd theatre of vaccine passports’.

It points out that according to official data, vaccines only offer about 17 per cent protection for the over-fifties.

“As I observed [months ago], this would mean the vaxxed and unvaxxed pose a comparable danger to each other,” writes Shriver.

“All Covid apartheid schemes are therefore insensible.”

She then clearly explains how the official data undermines the entire argument behind vaccine passports, which ban the unvaccinated from entering innumerable venues.

“Fresher information has fortified this conclusion of the summer. In every age group over 30 in the UK, the rates of Covid infection per 100,000 are now higher among the vaxxed than the unvaxxed. Indeed, in the cohorts aged between 40 and 79, infection rates among the vaccinated are more than twice as high as among the unvaccinated.”

What is the pandemic’s end, now? Herd immunity.

Better still, the widespread adoption of therapeutics (eg, ivermectin, HCQ, and monoclonal antibodies for those who can afford them), and prophylactics like Vitamin D, which is cheap and effective (as argued by retired nursing lecturer Dr John Campbell, who has argued for its benefits in over two dozen videos, his latest only 10 minutes long): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbGug3rczx4

  28. Kosher Dan lays into Kamala Harris:

    http://www.danielgreenfield.org/2021/11/kamala-goes-back-to-calling-biden-racist.html

Needless to say I fully support this message.

The eagle-eyed reader with a gutter-mind (guilty as charged) will notice that he slipstreams in some wording worthy of Dorothy Parker but with just enough plausible deniability to skate whistling past the Inquisition. Truly a Second Daniel!

And a crying shame we can’t elect him Pope, come to think of it. Probably over-qualified for the job anyway.

  29. Thanks for the link.
Actually, I heard echoes of Isaiah Berlin—and of course Aesop—but missed the D. Parker (though it’s entirely possible that she and I are on different wavelengths…as I have in fact made overtures to girls who wear spectacles…).

I guess the question IS whether the writing is on the wall. Um, actually, no (wrong again!): the writing IS on the wall (and has been for some time); the eternal problem is that the Democrats always “Tear down this wall”…and rebuild it somewhere else… time and time again….(or else they try to distract by focusing on the wrong wall).

The question then is, when will the critical mass of Democratic Party supporters open their eyes to what is going on.

Well, never say never…but the answer is—most likely—“Never”…

File under: Nuffing will come from nuffing. Vote again?

  30. I can imagine Biden deciphering the writing on the wall without needing any learned help:

Neener Neener Twerkle it’s Shower Time!

  31. As for the writing on the wall, Hollywood doesn’t seem to even want to begin to see it, let alone read it (let alone understand it):
    https://www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2021/11/19/kyle-rittenhouse-not-guilty-verdict-breaks-hollywood-i-weep-for-this-country/

Alas, “Loony Tunes” was supposed to be only a cartoon series… (Now it’s been embraced as an entire world view for most of our celebrity elites…)

Exhibit A regarding the extreme danger of living in bubbles?

and might one wonder if this is truly the end of the industry…?

  32. @BarryMeislin:

“As for the writing on the wall, Hollywood doesn’t seem to even want to begin to see it, let alone read it (let alone understand it)”

Z-Man of the Apocalypse always refers to actors thusly:

    “Carny Trash”

Sadly there will always be a Hollywood so long as the taxation system drives the need for guaranteed gilt-edged offsetting losses. The folks who run and infest the big streaming players (and for that matter AAA computer gaming — bigger turnover than Hollywood) are even madder and badder. Traditional Hollywood is mainly just mad — their days of setting the agenda and meddling with mass man’s consciousness Bernays-like are over. Netflix, Apple TV, HBO, Amazon Prime Video, not so much.

  33. For science-y YouTube nerds who follow Dr John Campbell and Dr Suneel Dhand, perhaps check out this guy.

A link and brief description of his latest

A theoretical way that the vaccine could cause DNA damage.
Only through modeling not actual measurement. So far.
Basically, there are mRNA bits that “walk” DNA and fix breakages. The worry is that the virus (and the vaccine) can chew up those guys to the point where breakage gets out of hand. In many cases the cell will commit suicide and spray the spike protein as the cell wall disintegrates.
In the comments one fellow suggests this process could also allow rapid cancer development. Yike.

  34. News You Can Use:

Your government has just announced that it’s holding an unprecedented *third* H-1B lottery this year.

They are hell-bent on replacing White People.

Yes I know some of you here find talking about Race distasteful.

But still they are hell-bent on replacing White People and stealing the jobs and depressing the salaries of your children and their children.

  35. Another home run from Dan Greenfield AKA Sultan Knish, the Kosher Samosa:

    http://www.danielgreenfield.org/2021/11/soldiers-forced-to-bunk-outdoors-while.html

“When the 127th arrived, the barracks they were meant to sleep in had already been taken. With Afghans sleeping in their barracks and their beds, they reportedly had to sleep outside instead.

The summers are warm and wet; the winters are freezing, snowy, and windy,” is how the local weather has been described. In October the weather had begun its slow descent from warm and wet to freezing, but it was not the Afghans who were expected to deal with the weather.”

Your government hates you and wants you and people like you dead. Capisce?

Or is there a White Pill angle I’m missing?

Only one I can think of is that it may have focused the thought processes of 2nd Battalion, 127th Infantry. One can hope.
