  1. I remember seeing those stockings, and knew they were called “clocks” before the video said it! It’s hard for modern women to imagine wearing all that cloth! Even when I was young, girdles and corsets were not unheard-of

  2. My mother used to tell me that her mother insisted when she was in her later teens (early 1940s) she had to wear a girdle whether she needed one or not. I’ve seen her pictures, and she definitely did not need one.

  3. Topo Gigio:

    Not just the 40s. Girdles were very common in the 1950s and even the early 1960s. One of the reasons was the popularity of what was called the sheath skirt.

  4. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) on Wednesday proposed legislation which would require proof of a coronavirus vaccination or a negative coronavirus test in order to fly domestically ahead of the holiday season.from Breitbart

    See. Elites want to fly safer. They look out for their own interests, not yours. I’m waiting for the booster shot requirement followed by the annual booster shot requirement.

  5. What a colossal waste of time.
    Thank heaven for Spandex!
    Girdles were just going out when I hit Jr. High. And after the first month of 9th grade girls were allowed to wear pants to school. That, of course, led almost immediately to the horrific ‘Hot Pants’ craze. So maybe the fuddy duddies trying to hold the line against girls in pants had a point.
    Anyway, I remember a happy girdleless youth.
    “Tee shirts, cut offs and a pair of thongs*,
    We’ve been having fun all summer long.”
    BTW, those mid 19th C hairstyles were about as unflattering as it gets.
    On the other hand – I haven’t seen pure unspoiled skin like that since my angel was born. A lovely sight.
    * Da slippa kine!
