The Russiagate news du jour — 7 Comments

  1. The big news today is that Trump answered a hypothetical from George Stephanopoulos that he would take a call from a foreign leader with compromising information on a political opponent. He also said he would report it to the FBI if it was warranted. The MSM is all agog over such “TREASON.” (A death penalty offense, no less.) The lack of self reflection is almost unbelievable. If Trump has committed TREASON, by answering a hypothetical question, then Hillary Clinton has committed willful and active “TREASON” by actively seeking and paying for damaging info on her political opponent from a foreign power. But, so far, the MSM doesn’t quite see it.

There are different kinds of damaging information. The oppo research that Hillary Clinton paid for from Chris Steele and his Russian (?) sources was that Trump was a Russian agent or had been compromised by Russia.. That’s something that should be referred to the FBI. But the FBI, before launching a full scale counter intelligence investigation, should try to verify the info first. Because of politically partisan leadership at the FBI, they jumped at a chance to help Hillary and hurt Trump. They launched a full scale counter intelligence investigation that invaded many innocent people’s privacy. and attempted to sabotage a U.S. Presidency. We expect our government to take care to protect the country, but we don’t expect them to use powerful surveillance tools like FISA warrants unless they have strong evidence of a crime. We also don’t expect our law enforcement agencies to take political sides in election campaigns or to become politicized.

If Trump’s answer to a hypothetical question was outrageous, how totally over the top was actual soliciting and paying for damaging info from a foreign agent and government? Not to mention the bogus “compromat” call to Adam Schiff, which he went for hook, line, and sinker. The Dems have demonstrated that they will stop at nothing to damage a political opponent. Particularly when it comes to drumming up hysterical charges like “TREASON.”

Once again, Trump is being held to a double standard. If it weren’t for double standards, the MSM would have no standards at all.

  2. The Trump presidency has been much more entertaining than I expected.

  3. Picking up on J.J.’s theme concerning the Stephanopoulos flap, J.J. says,

“If Trump’s answer to a hypothetical question was outrageous, how totally over the top was actual soliciting and paying for damaging info from a foreign agent and government [by Hillary’s campaign]?”

There were two Democrat “strategists” on different FoxNews shows last night, parroting almost the exact same words. Trump committed crimes and impeachable or treasonous acts, but Hillary never broke the law because her people got opposition information from a retired MI6 agent.

Got that? Chris Steele was just some guy who took a break from watching cricket matches, not an agent of a foreign gov. See J.J. It’s not a double standard. It’s just that you are not thinking like a defense attorney, or a Mafia consigliere.

Just when I thought I was becoming too cynical, these clowns with their talking points show up.

  4. funny
before today, nancy and none of them wanted to change law over this
Trump lets out a troll tweet and now, nancy is doing what trump wanted.
meanwhile, lets see bidens tax returns and his sons to make sure he isnt in china pocket

then again… when we talk global warming, do we ever mention medea?

MEDEA was a joint program between the United States intelligence and scientific communities in which the nation’s top Earth scientists reviewed classified reconnaissance satellite imagery from the Cold War to determine environmental applications and facilitated declassification of vast amounts of Earth monitoring data for scientific purposes. Through personal interviews, former MEDEA members provided their perspectives on the program’s history, emphasis on collaboration, and impact on environmental security.

    of course..
anything meaningful, the russians are there with INFLUENCE

Following the fall of the Soviet Union, the U.S.-Russian Joint Commission on Economic and Technological Cooperation, known as the Gore-Chernomyrdin Commission, brought MEDEA scientists and top Russian Earth scientists together to collaborate and share declassified data. From 1995 through 2000, the Russians shared extensive data they collected in the Arctic Ocean, also a MEDEA research area. “We merged the data together,” noted Gaffney, and “in the end, both sides had a more complete view” of the Arctic climatology.

[over and over each of the things that troubles the US most, Russia has a hand in either making it, or making it worse, or gutting and using it like a fabian animal skin]

  5. I saw the Fox news bits you talk about, Tommy Jay.
One, on Tucker Carlson I believe, opined that it was okay to actively seek and pay a foreign country for opposition research on political opponents. But to accept unsolicited dirt on a political opponent from a foreign entity is “TREASON.” That is ethical reasoning that is way above my pay grade. 🙂

  6. J.J.

The duplicitous distinction I perceived was (1) it’s a crime to knowingly allow or aid a foreign government in manipulating our elections. (2) Hillary’s people are off the hook because a non-governmental foreigner, a retired MI6 agent was helping them manipulate our elections. That’s OK.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought I recognized the Clinton style of legalistic trickery at work here.

  7. So many crimes, so many deep state criminals.
“They can’t lock us ALL up!” says the leaders of the mob.

    They’re probably right.

I’m wondering how much Trump and Barr will be using the recent words by Dems against Trump’s oppo words when going after the Clinton folk; will the DOJ ever really go after them?

    Waiting for indictments.
