Happy Easter! — 22 Comments

  1. “…money be returned…”

On the other hand, maybe it was “just” (or mostly “just”) money from donors (in which case, no real loss)…. Or perhaps some other slush fund set up by those scandal-less angels (with dirty faces?) of the previous administration.

(Or perhaps money that was earmarked for “our” Iranian allies that wasn’t delivered? Sounds bonkers but who knows?)

Or maybe it was some percentage of the taxes skimmed off by a weaponized IRS (that worthy Federal Department not being exactly a “neutral” actor during the Obama years…—perhaps even “contributing” in some way to the stellar growth of the US deficit grow during the Scandal-less One’s reign),

Hmmm. Yeah, that sounds like it could be right (kinda has the right ring to it): “Your Taxes at Work”:

    Yeah.

  2. Not a holiday here…I “had to” work.
But I never get tired of saying it, “He is risen!”
    🙂

  3. We had a great Easter – in Slovakia, it’s Easter Monday morning where there are strange customs of using a korbac (korbach) to (lightly?) whip women with added (doesn’t have to be cold) water for their health.

I spent some time on Good Friday putting small holes in 4 (of 6) white eggs to blow out the egg, in preparation for making decorated eggs like in this great photo.

It’s been great weather here, tho a tragic week for Christians & civilization in the world. I’m getting more anti- anti-Christian.

Hope all are enjoying a wonderful holiday.

  4. Very interesting, Edward, and thanks for the link. I did not know that hanging eggs from trees was a German custom. Around the South, I usually see it at what one might call “redneck” houses in the country.

  5. You must not say anything about Someone who did Something on Some Day, or on any day. To say something would make you a Some-o-phobic.

  6. Sri Lanka had no history of Muslim-on-Christian violence before Easter 2019. Christians in Sri Lanka, mostly Catholic, are an even smaller minority than are Muslims, 7% vs. 9%.

When the dreadful shootings in New Zealand occurred, liberals were quick to condemn “Islamophobia” in the killings of Muslims, whom they mentioned by the name of their faith. Now that six times as many Catholic Christians have been slaughtered in Sri Lanka, they cannot mention the victims’ faith by name, nor condemn anti-Christian violence as such.

And of course when Jews are killed in acts of terrorism in Israel or the disputed territories, that is downplayed because the victims are, you know, Jews.

  7. Kate:

Matt Walsh has noted that in the media the terrorists killed “Easter Worshipers” not Catholic Christians or just Christians. Many things must not be said, more than just Some things. Much like the murder of Christians in Nigeria by Someone unknown.

  8. Edward, thanks. A very worthwhile and sensible read.

There is little I could add to the material at the above link except this:

    What are the odds?

Do you really think that the major fire, less than a week ago, that could potentially have totally destroyed Notre Dame, was just a big “coinkydink?”

That the fire at Notre Dame, particularly one occurring during Holy Week—preceded by the arson attack against the ancient cathedral of St. Denis, outside Paris, just a week prior and this attack—taking place against the background of the reported vandalizing and/or desecration of 850 churches in France last year—was the “accident” that French authorities proclaimed it to be.

These “authorities” delivering this verdict, I note, while the fire still raged, and before the fire was contained/extinguished enough to allow anyone into the area to determine what started it?

Again, I ask, which is more likely, a random accident, or a Muslim terror attack?

Time to wake the Hell up, and face the truth!

  9. To quote Ian Flemming’s’ “Goldfinger”–

“Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action.”

    What, then, is 850+ times?

  10. Articles about the 850 churches that were vandalized/desecrated in France last year tend to/want to blame this huge number of attacks on “Militant secularists.”

Do we really think that large numbers of French “militant secularists” are taking the time out of their lives to vandalize the failing, mostly empty churches of France?

    Occam’s Razor anyone?
