Let’s have a little traveling music — 7 Comments

  1. For traveling music, it’s hard to beat Credence Clearwater Revival.

    Have a safe trip.

    CCR ? Hehe…

  3. I just started to try and do a rough recall on the titles of traveling themed songs and the number is stupefying.

Too many to count; and that’s if you don’t press the definition. If you do stretch, you can start at some random point such as the Wreck of the Old 97, proceed through The Lonesome Road, and by the time you get to Route 66, much less Under My Wheels, you will be daffy …

    My head’s spinning …

For those of us of a certain age, though not the original, Glenn Frey does a decent job.

Good treatment of Route 66. As a child, I rode on Route 66 with my parents before the Interstates came into being.I am reminded of a C&W band I heard at a local restaurant. Most of the time, the band played the music straight. On occasion, they would give a Western Swing- jazz- slant to the song. The last song the band gave a Western Swing treatment to was “Route 66.”At the end of the night, I asked the bandleader if, given his druthers, he would swing it every time. “Undoubtedly,” was his reply.
