Malware alert? — 30 Comments

  1. I was getting the error – now it is gone. I believe it is just a problem in the Chrome browser. There’s slightly more information here

  2. Not having a problem with your site, with either my Mac or my PC. I cannot, however, get into Dr. Sanity’s website on my PC. I can get into it with my Mac, however. I tried to leave the following message on her last posting tonight, but it refused to post. Do you have an email address you could send her notice her site is down? The message I tried to send to her tonight is as follows:

Did you know your website is blocked on my PC. I get your page OK on my Mac. There’s very little out there that bothers the MacIntosh operating system. But on my PC, with all the security programs, I get the message “Reported Attack Page”. Your blog page will not open at all. I just get the message that says that “Attack pages try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system.” I’ve seen this kind of thing before. I think Drudge got caught in it once. Sombody, a hacker, or an advertisement, put something on his website.

I didn’t know if you were aware of the problem.

  3. I was getting an alert for about the last three days from MS Security Essentials on Windows 7 but not this time.

  4. I’ve been on your site maybe 5-8 times today Neo, just reading the comments etc. and I’ve had no problems. Two others I know of have complained of the same alert.

  5. Last 3 days I recieved malware alert every time I entered your blog, with explanation that blogroll contains malware. I has gone now.

  6. I was getting the malware alert on other blogs that use Blogrolling. (Chrome/ Vista). This morning, no alert on your site.

  7. I thought that is was because of Google Chrome. I decided to give Chrome a whirl a couple of days ago and that’s when I got the malware notice. Being a fully delusional paranoid righty I thought they might be after you or something.

It’s gone now but I’m still out of my mind.

  8. I ususally stop by once a day, and have never gotten any warnings for this site from my AVG, which is IMO quite vigilant.

  9. It’s Sunday morning and I didn’t receive a malware alert. But then I didn’t receive one yesterday or the day before either. In fact I have never received one for this site.

  10. I just went looking and their blog does say if you have reports of this malware problem to remove the code from your site. They also say they’ll be shutting it down soon so I guess it’s nearly a moot point.

  11. The problem was effecting Jawa Report, this site, Planck’s Constant, Astute Bloggers and a few other sites I visit regularly. It was a problem for Chrome and Firefox browsers, but apparently not for IE8. I don’t think it was actually generating malware, but for whatever reason it wasn’t letting me proceed without twice reading my browsing rights. Nice to be back, neo!

  12. Earlier this week, I was getting the warning through Chrome, so I tried with Internet Explorer right away: No problem there. Thank God I was able to get my daily dose of Neo!

Today, Chrome didn’t give me the warning.

  13. Last time I came (using the Chrome browser) I got the malware alert & fled because I’d already read the post in the feedburner summary and was just going to leave a comment that, lacking it, the world could still survive.

    This time: no warning.

Maybe it’s an anti-woman conspiracy. For a while I was getting the same bright red warning banner about blogher when I’d head to Fausta’s site.
