Sanity Squad: Superbowl, Super Tuesday, Superhatred for McCain — 9 Comments

  1. I listened to part of the web cast on Monday evening & was disturbed by some of the rhetoric of a few of the participants. Several of the group referred to principled conservatives as “extremists”. I suppose they would similarly label Jefferson, Madison, Washington & Jay . After all they represented only a small fraction of the colonists.

    As Alexander Hamilton said,
“Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.”

  2. I don’t see many comments at your blog, Neo, justifying or claiming a refusal to vote for McCain if he wins the nomination.

  3. Neoconservatism is much more allied with Classical Liberalism than with Conservatism … I don’t think we want a faith-based candidate like Romney or Huckabee, of whom are marginally better than Obama and Hillary. I’d like to see McCain and Giuliani, personally … social liberals/foreign policy hawks/perfecto.

  4. McCain? Very clever of the Democrats to sneak one of their candidates onto the Republican ticket!

Huckabee? Slick snake oil salesman. Elected Arkansas governor, like Bill Clinton.

Hillary? Screeech. If you like fingernails on the blackboard, fascist routes to social justice, and yet more years of phony moralizing from amoral Bill, she’s your gal.

Obama? Can you say “sounds good, but no there, there?”

Paul? Done a lot for libertarianism, but hit the big time at the wrong time (clash of civilisations).

Romney? The only one who’s actually performed reasonably well in government and out. Looks like a Ken doll, but–rare for a politician–actually seems capable of thinking for himself.
