  1. Great advice and lots of funny examples. It is however tough to include the catagory of sex into political discussions.
    Hmmm,forgot about Bill Clinton.
    Never mind.

  2. We each have our own niche. Although great advice, I find it hard to follow Iowahawks suggestions. After 4+ years on the Blog scene I have gotten apathetic if not, honestly, bored with Blogdom at the present. I have also found that if I add a photograph like the one up now of the bride and me with the Gunny from “Mail Call” my readership tends to jump. So why waste too many words….

  3. Being technologically inept, having never even owned a TV until I was 37 for instance, I tend to be blissfully ignorant of the TC (technically correct) codes of conduct. This enables one to blather and bumble freely about the realm of Public Discourse oblivious to consequences or potential consequences and unintentionally offend folks or at least cause annoyance. That said, I shall endeavor to create a modicum of emotional attachment to this glass, electicity, plastic, rubber and metal which will in turn enable me to follow a code of unwritten conduct. I should spout a bit of poetry at this time but can’t recall any short verse that I have composed. I seem to recall that Haiku calls for 17 syllables.I could be wrong, but here goes, from about 1973 or so..
    Haiku For Autumn –
    An old alley cat
sharpened his claws on a tree
    then pissed
    on brown leaves

  4. Goesh, you’re not supposed to blog in somebody else’s comment section. It’s one of those technically legal but annoying intrusions like when someone dumps the remains of their smelly lunch in your wastebasket. You can’t shoot them for it in most jurisdictions (legal in Texas and Nevada; in New Hampshire, it is a civil citation with a $150 fine), but still…

Neo-neocon, don’t you know better than to play in the traffic? And your Turing code came up with a very rude word in Polish.

  5. I wonder how many thousands of blogs are out there? It must take lots of work to maintain a blog – deciding on an entry then doing it, referencing, monitoring, etc. It reminds me of milking cows when I was a kid on a farm. Every morning and night it had to be done no matter what else was going on, no matter how you felt or what you wanted to do, the cows had to be tended to. I suppose blog participants are like a herd of cattle in some respects. You kind of know what to expect from them, most of the time. You’ve got some that really produce, some that don’t, some that are balky, some that are content, some are grouchy, some kick, some don’t and some you want to get rid of but really can’t. There is freedom in not blogging and a sense of belonging when frequenting a blog and posting comments. I suppose in some respects it allows people to fictionalize their lives and say things they might not be able to say in the course of normal events. I’ve always felt it allows people to vent and it may be providing a very subtle, indirect mental health service. If I can rant and rave here, I won’t rant and rave to my wife. Nobody knows who goesh is and my wife would ignore my ranting and raving anyway, so nothing is really lost of gained, except I get it off my chest.
