It depends what the meaning of “sign” is

Kerry has a strange literalism about him. He said he would sign a Form 180; apparently he did sign a Form 180. But how many of his records were actually released, and whether anyone other than his friends at the Boston Globe will ever see them, is anybody’s guess. What a tiresome man.
Someone asked on another blog, why bother to talk about him any more? An excellent question. My answer is that he came within 60,000 Ohio votes of becoming President, he still seems to have designs on the Presidency and remains in the public spotlight, and he’s a fascinating case–and I mean that in the clinical sense of narcissistic personality disorder.

I do think that Kerry’s service record will have almost zero traction against him the next time around (if he gets one), just as I think Hillary’s pretty much in the clear on cattle futures and Whitewater.
It’s been fascinating following him, though; he’s weirder than Gore, and I never thought anybody could top that act.
Kerry’s military record is meaningless. It does not reflect a true assessment of a person at all. I am more concern about the opinion of the enlisted men who served under him.
I am in the military and I have seen plenty of absolutely incompetent officers with stellar record. An officer record is a reflection of his kiss-up ability.
Apparently from the people who served under Kerry, the majority of them think of him as a self-serving and incompetent officer.
Turns out that Kerry’s much vaunted intellectual status is just so much vanity.
His GPA in college was slightly lower than Bush’s.

Daniel McKivergan in the Weekly Standard argues that John Kerry is becoming the new Al Gore. Actually, that claim may be unfair to Gore. To be sure, the latest Kerry’s latest anti-Bush tirade cited by McKivergan is Gore-like. But the former vice president had an excuse for becoming unhinged — unlike Kerry, he could reasonably believe that, at one or more levels, he had “won” the presidency. Moreover, Gore removed himself from consideration for the 2004 nomination even though one could have imagined him capturing it. Kerry remains interested in being nominated in 2008 even though it’s almost inconceivable that the Dems would select him.

George W. Bush, now there is an interesting man. Oh, and self made too. He didn’t have to marry money. He had a Daddy. I also love the courage he demonstrated in Alabama during the Vietnam war. Oh, lord. I’ll take another shot of bourbon with a bourbon chaser.
Ho, he’s not that smart. Frankly, Kerry is a pompous patrician ass IMHO who has inflated his intellectual credentials as well as his war record and his net worth, the last by marrying a rich vulpine widow. And as far as looking into the head of the typical politician, well, I dread staring into such a vacuum.
Speaking of Kerry, only in America is intelligence “boring”. Hell, he ain’t one of us, he’s smart.
And what’s this discussion of narcissism? None of us can look into any politicians head, so what’s the point?
Yeah, Kerry is a bore alright. I wonder what it says about the state of things that he came within those 60,000 votes in Ohio. It’s like we live in a country with only two channels on the TV. What happens when you want to watch TV, and you’ve got a choice between one bad program or the other bad program? I guess I’ll just turn off the TV and get drunk again.

I still can’t believe he got any votes at all, let alone as many as he did. If not for that, one could just write him off as the massive bore that he is and forget about him.

If Kerry has this narcissist personality disorder then so do Howard Dean, Bill Clinton, Joe Biden, John McCain and a number of other politicians for whom being the center of attention is addictive. It is a common malady and has been around a long time. Of Teddy Roosevelt it was once said at a wedding he wanted to be the bride and at a funeral he wanted to be the corpse.
I blogged about this very subject several times, and was accused of being “politically obsessive and snarky.” I think SF180 is more about the MSM/Tim Russert than it is about Kerry.
