You know how to whistleblow, don’t you? — 12 Comments

  1. Bacall has such a great deeper voice. I was just watching “Dead Reckoning” with Bogart and Lizabeth Scott. Scott has a unique deeper voice too, more breathy and quite colorful in a way I can’t describe. But Scott wasn’t quite the complete actor package that Bacall was.

    Love the huge shoulder pads.

  2. “. . . how to whistleblow . . .?”

Just put you lips together and cower . . . refuse to testify in person in the flesh?

  3. Lauren Bacall was hotter with all her clothes on than a baker’s dozen of Playboy centerfolds stark naked.

  4. Such a great scene! Only I mis-remembered it as being from The Big Sleep, and her calling him “Sam,” not “Steve.”

Can you imagine how many feministas must be rolling over in the contents of their kidney basins at the assumption, which they’ll almost certainly make, that Miss Bacall sees herself as a Sex Object.

Miss R., on the other hand, must have loved it!

Thanks ever so for posting, Neo.

  5. You know, I’ve always felt like I was missing something here. Everybody thinks it’s such a great scene, and it is certainly memorable, but the “just whistle” part…doesn’t seem like a big deal to me–I feel like there’s a joke I’m not getting.

  6. Of course the REAL way to whistle-blow today, is to pick a target, slander it long enough with the help of shameless left media, and fabricate enough slander and libel that the truth doesn’t matter any more.
That from the creators of the ugly verb “to bork,” and the evil wrought upon Bork, Thomas, Kavanaugh and all the rest.

  7. I wish I was in my 40s in the era of mid 1930s to mid 1940s. An era of unity and resolve.

  8. Great scene, great art. I recall that the character’s name was NOT “Steve”; just looked it up to be Harry Morgan.

“I was wondering if I would like it”. What a fantasy! What a voice! face! body! (and graceful aging talent, too!)

    Real chemistry.

Art – the meaning is what the art evokes inside you, it can be different.

  9. Lol, she is negging or negating or non complimenting the guy. That’s hilarious. It’s like reverse Alpha game.
