9/11: nine years — 13 Comments

  1. My childhood friend, who lived just around the corner from my family, was one of the brave fireman in Stairwell B. “Matty” was a great kid, turned into a great adult, and a dedicated fireman. I think about him every 9/11 and thank G-d that he and his brothers made it out alive that terrible day. A small yet momentous miracle amidst the terror and chaos.

  2. I think it is my duty every 9/11 to remember. The flag of rememberance, with all the names of the lost hangs outside my door. But I found I couldn’t watch the video above. I can’t watch the towers being hit, or hear about it.

I don’t know why. All these years, I’ve observed the anniversary, but today it hurts like a raw wound, as though it just happened. Odd.

  3. I think, Mrs. Whatsit, because of all the commotion over the mosque and Koran burning. Other years it just seems to sneak up on us. My grandfather died in the 80s on 9/13. For a few years, I really noticed it. Now, usually only if it falls on a Friday (the 13th). We’re also anticipating next year, the 10th anniversary. I think I’ll almost dread that one. I’m glad it won’t be in a major election year. Hopefully, they will have the memorial done by then.

I think, too, that we feel that there should be more, better resolution by now. Also, there has been a shift in many minds toward almost appeasement toward Islam. For me, I am getting more and more irritated with the “yes, but we (blah, blah, blah)” crowd.

  4. Over the past couple of years, many Americans have become aware of the evil forces that are attempting to destroy our society. Not only are they not all Muslim, many of the destroyers were born and raised here.

Having a President who may or may not be a Muslim isn’t helping matters any.

The sleeping giant is finally beginning to stir.

  5. Neo, thank you so much for taking the time to make this video so convenient to watch. It was very moving and worth every minute.
I, too, am tiring of the constant sensitivity that keeps being required so as not to offend Muslims.

  6. I’m with Darrell, the mosque proposal. I’m sickened by this game, by the fact that the criminals returned to the scene of the crime, that so many who suffered and witnessed cannot bring themselves to deal with this honestly, and call it what it is. I’m disgusted that officials at the highest levels are willing to go along with the disgrace, and play along with the shadowy forces behind it. It’s almost unbelieveable that such a thing would be possible. So yes, it hurts a lot more this year.

  7. Will, i know liberals who think this mosque at GZ is no big deal. Had i told them on 9/11/2001 that in nine years this would be their position, they’d have told me i was nuts. The reality is it’s liberals who have evolved into a grotesque version of their former selves over these nine years. And they are very protective of themselves ever really figuring that out or noting any such admission.

  8. Thank you for posting this. I had never seen it. I was married three days before 9/11. I can never remember the actual date of the day I was married. I just count backwards from Tuesday to Saturday. I guess it’s the 8th.

On this year’s 9/11 a friend who I’ve lost touch with over the years (we were pretty close 20 years ago but just went separate ways) posted three Truther Videos as his remembrance of the day on his Facebook page. He has probably 200 friends on Facebook and not one called him on this outrage besides me. All I could bring myself to say was, “for real?” He has since responded that I should check out the “facts” on Building 11 and how do I explain what happened to Building 11?

I haven’t answered. I am so appalled that first he posted this garbage and secondly that no one else commented on the absurdity. Truly, what is wrong with us and why couldn’t I muster more of a protest?
