Is the left terrified… — 23 Comments

  1. Yep, horsey set equals WASP and WASP equals oppressor.

But, Neo, as a “recovering” liberal you already knew that, didn’t you?

  2. I’m liking Ryan more and more after starting out liking him. And more and more, it’s looking like choosing him as VP running mate was pretty darn smart.

I loved his opening line in a speech yesterday…”It’s great to be in North Carolina or as Joe Biden would say…’It’s great to be here in Nevada.’ ”

(I *THINK* Ryan was in North Carolina…wherever he was, he knew where he was.)

  3. texexec…I’m with you on finding myself liking Mr.Ryan more and MORE every day since the announcement less than(Can you believe it..?!)a week ago. The Dems are FREAKING. Not the hard lefties–they’re not bright enough to see it–but, the Dems with more than a knob at the end of their spines are FREAKING. I absolutely love the smell of their Fear.(-:

  4. I just want to see what happens when the press catches Ryan shirtless. Will they swoon over his physique like the did Obama’s? I think I would rather see Ryan shirtless over Obama any day. (hehehe – couldn’t resist ladies!).

And back to the subject of the post…
Yes, the left is SCARED of a charismatic, articulate, fact based, good looking Republican PERIOD. Ryan has them peeing their pants so they are going to out right call him the devil to try to scare voters away from Romney\Ryan.

  5. You only have to see Ryan speak for a few minutes to see that not only is he a bright guy, but he’s so nice, and he can very effectively communicate complex concepts while still including facts and figures. This is a devastating combination for anyone debating him, because not only does he articulate his point well, but he will not provoked into a hostile response (classic Dem tactic to put the Republican on the defense).
It’s just icing on the cake that he also seems like such a regular, all-American guy instead of some remote, prep-school/ivy league guy who cannot relate to people in flyover country.
The other unexpected quality is how well he appears to get along with Romney, and how he seems to have energized him. They are really a team – so unlike the Obama-Biden ticket.

  6. Who knew that demonizing the horsey set had such a lengthy and distinguished political pedigree?

Given the history of fox hunting in the UK, Boar hunting in germany, and so forth… its had a VERY long distinguished target… and you can throw in polo too… (even the shirts)

  7. the left is VERY TERRIFIED of RYAN

As Paul Ryan noted in an interview, intellectuals were very fond of German philosophers….. (see link in other post of Ryan talking about being anti-progressive to Glenn Beck)

if the left is progressive fascist communist socialist… then someone who understands this beast from their own writings (not their canon… as mentioned before common people dont read either… but the LEADERS read the teachers editions with the principals and ideas that even those who read the canon of popular material dont)

According to Edward Bellamy, his new social gospel was to be spread “not by foreign malcontents, but by Americans descended from generations of Americans.” In February, 1891, 165 chartered clubs existed throughout the country, a majority of them in the Far and Middle West. Fully fifty newspapers supported the Nationalist cause in whole or in part, and Sylvester Baxter declared you could not go into a major newspaper office in New York, Philadelphia or Boston without finding one or more Nationalists on the staff. Though the Atlantic remained aloof, other respected monthly magazines of the age opened their pages to Nationalist propaganda. Bellamy himself contributed a brief article to the North American Review on the “Progress of Nationalism in the United States.”

Fabian Freeway – Putting the Silk Hat on Socialism

“We don’t need socialism anymore”, the progressive says. We can do it with regulation and administrators. We can let them keep their property. We’ll just dictate how every aspect of it shall be used.

ie.. the difference between socialism and nationalism is that you get to pretend you own something while someone else controls it.

the term Nazi was not a contraction of national socialism as the left now dictates the story.. it meant the NATIONALISERS…

something that is VERY clear IF you had read all these past works from an era we do not teach to those not entering politics or academic history

while we are arguing that this isn the kind of socialism, and the job is not done, etc… its been done under everyones noses just by avoiding saying it, providing anti arguments to it, and the peoples inability to understand that its not the cargo cult label, but the actuality that makes someting what it is.

so if the state leaders are socialist, and they are nationalizing things by controlling them through laws, taxation, etc… including political correct maxims

then you are still waiting for whatever has already happened and missed it happening (which i said long ago)

the problem becomes easy to see once you realize that the people waiting are not looking for the key things that indicate the reality, but are looking for cargo cult surface things which please their imagination.

after all, its the quantity of laws and the kinds of laws that make a despotic state, not the name you give it, or much of anything else. so even a good state, with endless laws, becomes a despotic one if the answer to law making is “we cant stop”

those who know this stuff from the back end, know the game in a way that the musers on the front, who are confused, and dont do muhc research and connections, and are waiting for superman, Godot, or Moses to deliver them (while they kill time discussing things from ideas, not facts)

i suggest reading jonah goldbergs The Four Horsemen of Progressivism…

hint: Richard Ely, John Dewey, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., and Herbert Croly

    the four horsemen of liberty…
Algernon Sidney, Samuel von Pufendorf, Jean-Jacques Burlamaqui, and Emmerich de Vattel

but if you want to know whose ideas dominate and control us and oe woud have to change or oppose, then this is the list.. (a few like hegel, and the nazi philosopher repackaged are missing)

    Alice Bailey
    Helen Schucman
    Betty Friedan
    Margaret Sanger
    Julius Wellhausen
    Soren Kierkegaard
    Nietzsche
    John Dewey
    William James
    Kinsey
    Benjamin Bloom
    B. F. Skinner
    Darwin
    Marx
    John Maynard Keynes
    Langdell
    Saul Alinsky
    Freud
    Roger Baldwin
    Herbert Marcuse
    Theodor W. Adorno
    Max Horkheimer

read all of them, and you will get a lot of whats going on, and why there are people like pianka who want to use ebola to exterminate 90% of the human race..

but then also, when we didnt belive him.. ignoring the feminist who said somethning similar except its all men you exterminate..

but that then leads to the idea in ethics journal of after birth abortions (a interesting way to say: infanticide to elder murder depending on how far after birth)

but how about today, where now the same ethics magaines are about modifying human genetics to change behavior, and make a better human for humanity? (by the editor of an ethics magazine who thinks outlout the distinction between nazism and himself is that his idea will be limited and the parents will decide. then makes relative to other things)

  8. I would terrified if I was still on the left!

As it is, I was delighted when I heard about the Ryan pick and the more coverage he gets, the more impressed I am.

I first saw Ryan on Morning Joe many months ago and immediately liked his pleasant demeanor and smarts. You could tell that Scarborough and the rest really like him too, in spite of the lefty tilt of the cast of characters on that program.

All knew of Ryan at that point was that he was an likable and intelligent talking head who seemed to have a real plan.

After the veep pick I now know that Ryan is not only a smart “man with a plan” but also tall, athletic and handsome with an adorable family. He makes Romney look better and better. He looks like a future president himself, actually.

The left thought they had the market cornered when it comes to having the most likable candidate. But now Romney has decided no more Mr. Nice Guy…he’s no longer saying that Obama is a pleasant guy who’s in over his head. He’s calling him out…telling him to go back where he came from, Chicago!

Yep, if I were on the left I’d be feeling scared right about now.

  9. It is no secret that in recent years, the U.S. created a buffer zone around Russia, involving in this process not only the countries of Central Europe, but also the Baltic states, Ukraine and the Caucasus.

The only response to this could be an asymmetric expansion of the Russian military presence abroad, particularly in Cuba. In Cuba, there are convenient bays for our reconnaissance and warships, a network of the so-called “jump airfields.”

With the full consent of the Cuban leadership, on May 11 of this year, our country has not only resumed work in the electronic center of Lourdes, but also placed the latest mobile strategic nuclear missiles “Oak” on the island.

They did not want to do it the amicable way, now let them deal with this.

  10. I was a 30 something father of 3 during the Reagan years and well remember how Reagan, the greatest president of my adult years, was treated by the east & west coast smarty pants. Before, during, and after office the MSM, elitist, democrat narrative was not only that Reagan was evil, but he was even more importantly flat out dumb as a rock. That was the narrative about GWB. Romney & Ryan have them fretting night and day because they know that narrative will not work this time around.

  11. No one can pin the “dumb” label on Ryan or Romney like they persisted in calling Reagan and GWB. It won’t stick.

So I guess we’ll be hearing a lot about their supposed geeky policy wonkiness, as if that’s a bug instead of a feature. It’s always a feature if the candidate is a Dem…

  12. “So I guess we’ll be hearing a lot about their supposed geeky policy wonkiness.. ”

Now the pimps of the MSM are in a tizzy over wrinkles: http://tinyurl.com/chekem6

“It’s always a feature if the candidate is a Dem…”

From the elitist lefty what is good for the goose is never good for the gander.

  13. “What an elitist!”

Kinda funny too since in swaths of the country it is a cool thing (re: west) vs. a blue blood thing.

Reminds me of visiting a eastern bloc country in the 80s when the news tried to put him down with the cowboy tag… in a country that had their own cowboys and looked up to those days the same way as people in western US….

  14. I spend a lot of time (maybe too much) monitoring the leftosphere. I don’t see the fear y’all see.

The linked article spends a lot of pixels talking about people who are not Ryan. I sense the rightosphere is projecting too much into the man, not so different than what some did for Palin and others did for Obama.

If the R&R squad wants to run as heirs to Reagan, my guess is that the lefties would be delighted. Neither man has Reagan’s charisma, at least via TV. If y’all are correct, and the lefties can’t play the “dumb” card, the still have the race card, the class-warfare card, and the compassion card. The top R on the R ticket gets trumped by all of those.

On the horsey question, for example, Reagan rode on a ranch like a cowboy. Mrs Romney owns a fancy prancing horse. I know Mitt likes to ride in a more manly manner, but can he overcome the negs already built up against him? Will he look like John Kerry askin’ for his huntin’ license?

There are intellectual and logical reasons why the left *should* fear Ryan (if he is all that). But we agree the left’s power and appeal is not logical. It’s like having the best debater on the pep squad.

Reagan happened more than thirty years ago. A significant part of the electorate never experienced him. The same could be said for FDR (almost nobody alive experienced him). I’m not sure that appealing to dead personalities is a winning tactic. The lefties never talk about how FDR was a great speaker, they just like his programs and a soft-headed version of the ideals he claimed to stand for.

  15. Scrolling down a couple of neo’s posts, temper my previous comment with a recognition that the leftosphere I monitor is not the mainstream democrats and liberals. The most mainstream source I use is CNN, and I might be the only person watching that channel.

Maybe I could replace “leftoshpere” with “Progosphere”. Paul Ryan doesn’t scare Bernie Sanders.

  16. “This is a devastating combination for anyone debating him [Ryan]”

Even someone as clean and articulate as Joe Biden?

  17. “Paul Ryan doesn’t scare Bernie Sanders”

You mean the all-American socialist? Of course the left had a canned response for *whoever* Romney picked – he’s a loser, the wrong choice, will do nothing but help Obama bla bla ad nauseam. Your act is predictable and very tired.

  18. Gary: Don’t be confused. Its not *my* act. I was attempting to relay what I was hearing from quarters that seldom penetrate this chamber.

(My act is bashing Romney and predicting collapse. Outside of that, I find more value in being a skeptic and critic of what passes for conservatism than just piling onto the ABO bandwagon.)
