Navalny dies in prison – perhaps — 29 Comments

  1. Navalny was a man of great courage, more honest than most of the reformers who have been found wanting,

  2. phisicsguy and Kate have it right: there was a moment when we in the USA might have exhibited righteous indignation over Navalny’s death in a Gulag. No longer. After Jeffrey Epstein’s death, we have nothing to crow about. Russia has nothing on the Clintons.

  3. Like the many suspicious cases of Arkancide here.
    ==
    Vincent Foster committed suicide.
    ==
If they’re putting prisons north of the Arctic circle, they’re bloody responsible for each and every death occurring therein.

  4. Did you post on the American reporter who died in Ukrainian prison? Yeah the guy was pro Russian, but that’s okay.
    ==
She did a post on a prominent public figure who had been the target of assassination attempts before. No, she’s not obligated to remark on the fate of every obscure idiot you fancy.

  5. No one in the press has mentioned the video where this “hero” was asking for 20 million in return for overthrowing Putin in a “Color Revolution.” That was a British MI6 guy he was talking to I think. An act of war that would be. There’s a CIA smell in there somewhere too. This is why that guy was in jail to begin with.

Russia collusion was a lie, but it appears that the West is interfering plenty in Russian internal matters.

If Putin killed him, he was killing a traitor and a foreign agent. Not a leader of political opposition.

It makes me think of Iran in WWII. Their ELECTED Parliament didn’t want to sell the British, whom Iran despised, their oil at dirt, dirt cheap prices. So Roosevelt sent in a hatchet man with a crate full of money and bought a coup to replace the elected govt. of Iran with the Shah of Iran. Remember him? The Iranians sure as hell do, it is a major reason why they are our enemies now.

And yeah, our country has no room to talk anymore, and in fact has not had any moral grounds to do so since at least 1942 or so, and probably even farther back than that.

  6. Straight from the mouth of Vlad, Somebody speaks.

What in particular happened in 1942, oh mouth of Vlad; Coral Sea, Midway, Guadalcanal, El Alemain (sic), Stalingrad, the Eight Air Force starting operations in England? What, oh what, deep shame has the US and the West never attoned for?

Yes Stalingrad was a victory of the USSR over the Axis Powers, but IIRC, the USSR was allied with the Allies at that time.

Do tell Somebody. What does Vlad have to say?

  7. If Putin killed him asks Somebody. Not with Novachok (nerve agent) or polonium, or being thrown out of a high rise window/balcony, or by more direct wet methods (with his wife and family)?

    Do tell Somebody?

Shilling for Iran too, it seems.

Are the Jews behind it all, as well?

  8. @Somebody

No one in the press has mentioned the video where this “hero” was asking for 20 million in return for overthrowing Putin in a “Color Revolution.” That was a British MI6 guy he was talking to I think. An act of war that would be.

Can you kindly cite the video? Because I suspect you are leaving a lot out. And that goes double given how Putin has been happy to pay off useful idiots in the West like the Greenies and Clinton.

There’s a CIA smell in there somewhere too. This is why that guy was in jail to begin with.

Bullshit. He was in jail because he opposed Putin. And even if what you were alleging is true, that does not apply to the likes of Sergey Magnitsky, a lawyer who went to prison for his client and died under suspicious circumstances. Shit like this is one reason why I do not go to the level of claiming the U.S. has no grounds to lecture Putin’s goons, because while it is pretty clear well organized, corrupt leftists organized things to either have Jeffery Epstein murdered or to allow him to commit suicide (which is true doesn’t really matter, Epstein might have committed suicide but he couldn’t have killed himself) in order to silence information, but at least he was a thoroughly disgraced child molester and child trafficker. Navalny was not.

Russia collusion was a lie, but it appears that the West is interfering plenty in Russian internal matters.

Russia collusion in the sense that the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin was a lie, but the Kremlin handily has interfered with our politics and those of others in extravagant fashion for a while. The roots of Euromaidan go back to Putin’s regime literally trying to help Yanukovych rig the elections in 2003-6, and he has handily financed green goons and the likes of Mutti Merkel.

If Putin killed him, he was killing a traitor and a foreign agent. Not a leader of political opposition.

Good people, kindly fucking observe the kafkatrapping bullshit that is this circular logic. “If Putin killed him, it was because he was a traitor and a foreign agent. And Putin killed him because he was a traitor and foreign agent.”

    The logic, it boggles.

Newsflash: “foreign agent” is a legal term the Kremlin weaponizes against those it does not like while avoiding those it does. Hence why the likes of multiple Chinese and North Korean conglomerates can export labor to the Russian Far East without a whiff but home grown Russian institutions like Memorial get forced to register.

And again; the idea that Putin killed his because he was a traitor does not hold water considering how many other people he has murdered without Navalny’s track record. Which is one reason Magnitsky became a cause celebre.

Moreover, Putin has betrayed the Russian public interest and even cornerstones of its identity by allowing things like Kadyrov’s forced islamicization of Chechnya (complete with persecutions of the Orthodox Church).

Dear god, would it pay you to do even a fucking Modicum of fact checking?

Firstly: you’re conflating two entirely separate things in Iranian History, it’s sordid history in WWII (which happened almost completely differently from what you described and indeed has almost nothing in common with what you are talking about), and Operation Ajax (Which is what you are telling the – inaccurate, Hollywood Leftist – version of).

WWII came to Iran because of even less justification than what you describe. Iran was in the way between the British controlled parts of the Middle East and the Soviet Union, and it was ruled by a Shah (yeah; more about that later) who was deemed (and probably was) too pro-German for Allied tastes. And who had the “temerity” to refuse to eject German diplomats from his country and to permit Allied transports through. So Iran got invaded and occupied by the British and USSR without declaration of war in an act of raw power, deposing the Shah for his son (the infamous Shah in question). The U.S. entered the war a few months later and forced the British and Soviets to pinkie swear the occupation was only until the end of the war, that they would respect Iran’s borders, and respect the rule of the current Shah (remember this because it is going to be relevant later).

The British actually did so and pulled out, while the Soviets did not, complete with attempts to set up artificial puppet Azeri and Kurdish states in the North during 1945-6 which fought an outright war with the Iranian government until U.S. posturing forced the Soviets out, narrowly avoiding turning Iran into another divided Korea/Germany.

So the Soviets turned inwards and used their local puppets the Tudeh Party to reach out to the non-Stalinist elements in Iran. Which led to what came next. Namely, Mossadegh’s attempt at a coup attempt under the thin guise of parliamentary politics and the following Royalist/CIA/MI6 Counter Coup called Operation Ajax under the purview of Eisenhower, not Roosevelt (who had been dead for nearly a decade at the time).

Secondly: let me make one thing very goddamn clear: The Us did not “replace the elected government with the Shah”. The Shah predated the creation of the U.S. and was heir to the millennia old Persian imperial tradition. While the dynasty at the time the Pahlavis were relative newcomers (having “only” taken power in 1925 in a coup) they inherited centuries of almost unbroken royal power. Indeed, the government and constitution were supposedly promulgated with Royal assent (which became relevant later).

Thirdly: Mossadegh was not “democratically elected”. He was appointed by the Shah and derived legal and constitutional legitimacy from that. The fact that he was the candidate that received the broad support of the legislature was – according to Iranian law – a happy accident. Which becomes more relevant when he began to bleed legislative support due to his authoritarian and corrupt measures to cement his cronies in power, his radical reforms, and his (as it turned out Ill fated) partnership with the Stalinists. Oh yeah, and intimidating the legal monarch so much he outright fled the country, thereby destroying any legal legitimacy he had under the existing Iranian constitution and meaning he was dependent on charisma and raw force.

Fourthly: Mossadegh was not the democratic saint he is usually portrayed as. Not by a long shot. Upon closer study I have become relatively sympathetic to him or at least his motives, but “my motives are good, pls sympathize” are a shit reason to elevate someone to sainthood, and they do not excuse his methods.

Which amounted to egregious abuse of his office and position of trust to rig elections by way of gerrymandering and street violence worthy of the SA, pushing for unilateral nationalization of Anglo-Iranian Oil (which he KNEW the West was touchy of due to its important strategic role as a lifeline in both world wars), and a partnership with the Tudeh, aka the resident Iranian Stalinists. This obviously disturbed people, and not just those who were bribed British patsies (though it must be admitted there were plenty of those), who came together to try and arrange some kind of private confrontation that would allow the Shah to exercise his constitutional and legal authority to dismiss Mossadegh’s cabinet.

Only Mossadegh found out and he or some of his close co-conspirators sent paramilitary gangs to arrest as many of the Royalists as possible, leading to the Shah fleeing the country. And a rapidly deteriorating situation as the British and U.S. froze relations, the local religious authorities to declare Mossadegh an enemy of the faith and call to action*, and major pro-royalist protests to break out. Oh, and as if to make matters worse, though it was not clear to most outsiders at the time the Tudeh decided that on the cusp of what seemed like complete victory it was time to turn and betray Mossadegh for an attempt at power themselves.

This ultimately led to Eisenhower – who had previously supported most nationalizations – to decide Mossadegh had to go. And to be honest by law he was not wrong. Mossadegh may have wished to modernize and strengthen his nation and even possibly democratize it, but he had brought it to violent civil strife and ruled like an illegitimate dictator.

You can argue the Shah we helped return to power also became similar; and I wouldn’t even disagree with you (though he was much more toothless than Mossadegh was and a more stalwartly anti-Soviet and pro-Western leader), but Monday Morning Quarterbacking is a poor excuse for understanding what the situation was at the time. And trying to argue (as many leftists, kneejerk anti Americans, and plain naive fools do) that Operation Ajax somehow caused the “Islamic Revolution” is tortured at best.

    * I might add said religious officials are the direct ancestors, theologically and sometimes biologically, of the current “Islamic Republic”, who overthrew the Leftist protestors that overthrew the Shah in 1978**. Conveniently, the Mullahs and their useful idiots in the West tend to gloss over their roles in opposing Mossadegh and supporting Operation Ajax, hoping people will forget their grudging support of the Shah against Mossadegh in favor of remembering their opposition to the Shah’s modernizations later.

** it is at this point that I point out that the rise of the Mullahs in Iran happened largely BECAUSE Jimmy Carter refused to support “our son of a bitch” the Shah against the United Front of reformists, leftists, and Islamists that opposed his White Revolution modernizations. Which resulted in the collapse of his monarchy, and its replacement by a short lived leftist republic…. Which in turn was couped by the Ayatollah.

So a major reason why Iran is currently an enemy of us is because we were so indecisive and hesitant in the 1970s in a way we were not in the 1940s and 1950s we accepted the removal of the Shah in the hopes of getting something better, and instead got something FAR WORSE.

All of which you can double check if you so wish, and I will help how I can. But which also underlines how you should do more research.

I’ve heard a similar argument against supporting Putin’s deposition, but while I’d normally be willing to accept a line of reasoning the fact is that Putin made the decision long ago to cast his lot with both Islamists and the CCP. Mark Steyn and others noted this back in the early 2000s, and decades of courting him by both American parties and a host of the same Western “mainstream” plutocrats like Schroeder and Merkel and Macron did not change that. Moreover, he gives dangerous support to our sworn enemies like the “Resistance Bloc” around the Ayatollah and the CCP while allowing his goons like Kadyrov to talk about nuking NATO.

Frankly I argue the west should have been far more serious about deposing him.

And yeah, our country has no room to talk anymore, and in fact has not had any moral grounds to do so since at least 1942 or so, and probably even farther back than that.

So you’re arguing the U.S. has no moral grounds to complain about literally Hitler, literally Tojo, literally Mussolini, Literally Stalin, Literally Mao, and Literally Baghdadi?

Thank you for explaining why absolutely nobody should take your judgement seriously. In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king, and while the US has lost much of its moral luster it is still much better than pretty much all its alternatives. And even if it were NOT, the truth is the truth even if it comes from the lips of Satan himself. The truth about the Katyn massacre does not stop being true just because it was first broadcast by Goebbels, any more than the Soviets doing so about Auschwitz renders it so.

The Kremlin can talk all about Epstein and leftist insanity. Indeed, I might even agree with some of their claims and points. That’s not going to make the Kremlin’s actions any more moral or legal, or change the fact that this is ultimately whataboutism disguised as principle. Poorly described, I might add.

  9. Poor, poor Roosia subjected to an “endless proxy war.” Only endless as long as they keep up their aggression against their neighbors,

    Breitbart maroons.

    Who invaded Ukraine?

Dumber that a box of rocks.

  10. Yes, Navalny was most likely killed by Putin and he was an opposition politician. One that sought out agents of a foreign country and asked them for money in trade for overthrowing the leader of his country. Even the laws of the US, which are of course no longer enforced, call that treason.

Perhaps your views on that have been warped by how many outright traitors the US has in the current regime that have not been so much as verbally chastised by the media, much less charged with jaywalking.

Who started the war.in the Ukraine? Who promised Russia when the Soviet Union went down that NATO WOULD NOT recruit people on Russia’s border into NATO and within days started breaking that promise? Who has been trying hard ever since to make certain that Russia would continue to be the West’s big boogeyman no matter what Putin does or says?

I do get why so many in the west hate Putin. Until I cut my cable service and stopped watching the big news media I hated him too. But since then I’ve come to see him as a Russian version of Trump, aside from being the only other western leader who ever gets seen attending a Christian Church service. Like Trump, Putin places the interests of Russia first, not the interests of western leftists and their billionaire globalist friends. And like Trump he cares not one little bit who doesn’t like that. Leftists really froth at the mouth when someone does that.

I used to badmouth Putin too for the assinations of the neighbors. Until the day came that I finally asked not did he do it, but why did he do it? No one ever seems to want to talk about why do they? Because Russia was promised that NATO would not move on up to the Russian border and then spent over 20 years doing exactly that? And also because Russia used to be an empire and has never really stopped being one and Empires do have an interest in having a sphere of influence around their borders for enemies to get through before actually reaching those borders. Like I said Putin places Russia’s interest first, like a Russian should.

Don’t like that? Well remember when leftists threatened Elon Musk with pulling advertisers from his media platform and Elon looked them in the eye and said “Go F yourselves.”? Putin has been doing that to Westerns leftists and the globalists for a lot longer than Musk has been.

But, but he holds Europe over a barrel with his gas pipelines. Well why not? He places Russia first, not Europe. And he did not force Europe to place themselves over that barrel, they did it voluntarily. And Europe and the US have been working hard since the early 90s to keep Russia down, move NATO forces to their border and generally to keep Russia as the big enemy. What, you thought they are not allowed to screw their enemies right back?

By the way, the Nordstream pipeline blew up about 18 months ago. Last I heard it was some Ukranian who did it. Though I would ask how it was done without NATO or US help. And while some defend the Ukraine no matter what, who among them wants to mention the Biden family, bribes, corruption, money laundering, the use of the Ukraine to take untold billions of taxpayer dollars and transfer them into to the personal pockets of American politicians, the people who tell us Putin is the boogeyman for calling them out on that?

And the guy who mentioned all those things in WWII that did not happen in Iran as if I had claimed things about them which I had not. Let’s say this again, the US overthrew the elected govt. of Iran and replaced with a dictator just so the British could buy Iranian oil dirt cheap instead of at a market price. The United States, the great defender of freedom and democracy did that. And yes, that did play a major role among the Iranians for why they overthrew the Shah and went Moslem fundamentalist at the end of the 70s and have hated America ever since.

So, in 2014 the ELECTED govt. of the Ukraine was overthrown (some say the US had something to do with that) while parts of it were investigating corruption and bribery by certain American politicians who mostly seem to have offspring who hold very well paying seats on the board of a gas company in the Ukraine at least one of whom always gives a share to the Big Guy and replaced that govt. with a gay man whose prior claim to fame was making crappy gay music videos.

Shall you now speak derisively at me about other things that happened somewhere else in the world at around the same time that had nothing to do with that as if that makes something I said magically not the truth? And just who was it that said I blamed the Jews? I never even mentioned them. No doubt someone will regardless announce that I blame the Jews again. In which case I can only politely refer you to the words of Elon Musk.

Go ahead and knock yourself out. I’m not going to reply again. Life is too short and spending that time playing a computer game or reading a book instead really is a better use of my time than doing this.

  11. Navalny was a man of rare courage and integrity, unlike many of the yabloko the liberal party that proved disappointing to be charitable, nemtsov, who was most likely the target of the Tsenteroi, thats the name for the Kadyrov clan, (I heard in a Novel by Anderson Park which is one of the few places where the names of the Qadis are addressed) probably it embarassed Putin at the time it happened, the Chubais or the Gaidars, who really did destroy the Russian economy and created the environment, that gave rise to the Oligarchs and the oligarch, don’t get that kind of treatment, a sign of the Khozayin (a title for Putin, which means Master,) according to former intel officer? turned novelist, David McCloskey, fwiw,

as a lesser noticed snippet of the Tucker interview pointed out, Putin prefers Biden because hes’ predictable, unlike Trump, I know it causes cognitive dissonance but the
contribution from Gazprom which helped shut down the pipelines, whatever the Russian word for bribe is, without it he probably could not have pulled the first wave of the invasion, as he firmly controls the oil weapon, as the regime has done similar favors for the Revolutuonary Guard who really run
Iran, in the economy, and through their paramilitary arm from Morocco to Yemen

  12. yes mossadegh was an old fool, by the time he took power in 1951, at the time nationalization was the rave thing, after all the UK had nationalized certain industries under atlee, although not petroleum, the founder of OPEC took inspiration from the experience he had seen with the Texas Railway commission, Mossadecq, took these notions largely supported by the Tudeh,
Iranian communists, which were in ascendance in the late 40s, but didn’t have much support among bazaaris, merchants and mullahs, this was Mossadeghs real opposition, only Amir Taheri, ‘Nest of Spies, really gives you this perspective, Most of the foreign press, listened to the likes of Bani Sadr, who was perhaps his lead propagandists who disseminated the black legend about the Shah was really unraveled by Andrew Scott Palmer, but most legacy press still abides by this fairy tale,

in the 70s not having learned any lessons, the Venezuelan govt under CAP nationalized western concessions under PDVSA, of course the oil shock allowed them to float their exorbitant safety net, until oil crashed in the 70s,ARAMCO was largely controlled by the Sauds, even though the components were in largely private hands,

yes the Epstein story seemed hackneyed like a rejected Black List, which i posit is really about someone like Edwin Wilson, which after 20 years, it was discovered, he was just ‘following orders’ from Langley, this was long after Peter Maas had made his persecutor a hero,

  13. But since then I’ve come to see him as a Russian version of Trump, aside from being the only other western leader who ever gets seen attending a Christian Church service.

Of all the things you can say about President Trump, his religious convictions do not appear to be of any significance. He’s not the Pastor of the United States.

The progressive propaganda about President Trump is precisely that Somebody; that President Trump is the US equivalent of your hero Vlad.

You hero Vlad has said he prefers that Brandon be reelected.

What precisely did the USA do in 1942, Somebody?

Somebody, don’t let the door hit you in the “face” on the way out.

  14. But since then I’ve come to see him as a Russian version of Trump, aside from being the only other western leader who ever gets seen attending a Christian Church service.

blockquote of Somebody wasn’t working. But is now.

The quality of Russian bots needs some improvement.

  15. to the Russian intelligentsia, Navalny was entirely too crude for their taste, that was certainly in Ben Judah’s account around 2018, although they may have come around somewhat, since then, one is struck by how much virtue signaling that you see from liberals and some possum republicans like Kinzinger, who briefly entertained fan clubs for war criminals Girkin and the late Prigozhin, because they had opposed Putin, leave out the details of the fact, he was considered moderate by their lights,

they ignore the inkind contribution to Hunter from Moscow mayor’s widow, Baturina to the tune of 300 million, others from the Rakhaev’s of Kazakhstan, et al, so the favors returned include handing natural gas and helium deposits in favor of countries like Algeria and Qatar and Russia, so what in every way that matters we materially disadvantage our medical industry, our power generation, and every other thing that matters

the political class seems aggressively self involved in ways I couldn’t have imagined 10 years before,

  16. it does seem many leaders in the previously free world are antithetical to orthodox jews and christians, certain macron can’t be bother, schultz, (who won the cold war again) trudeau, and lets not speak of the shambling fool, so that part is true,

that is part of the animus among the supporters of those, in the closed system, that was part of that comment by koestler, there is little use for them, as with farmers or really police and military, unless they abide by this transhumanist agenda, maybe if they wanted to cultivate allies in Russia, they would be less pigheaded on that point but frankly that seems to be the point, along with challenging the laws of energy conservation and thermodynamics that may be oari of a passive meadures like the TTAPS whole nuclear winter paradigm that suddenly popped up in the 80s, in the aftermath of the failure of detente, and Reagan’s strong challenge to the Evil Empire, more and more this country resembles the place that Robert Conquest warned us about if we had lost the c Cold War, this isn’t incidental considering how many sons and daughters of Marxists like Mrs Jen PSaki, Jay Carney Fani Willis Jamie Raskin, the Halperin’s Susan Rosenberg maoist fan girl and Capitol bomber seem to roam in power, or in auxiliary capacities,

  17. “…in the closed system…” one hand washes the other…

IOW, “Biden”‘s DOJ does it again….

“‘Suspicious Reversal:’ DOJ Backs Down from Massive Fraud Case Against Dem Megadonor Dish CEO, BlackRock”—
    https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2024/02/17/suspicious-reversal-doj-backs-down-from-massive-fraud-case-against-dem-megadonor-dish-ceo-blackrock/

And if you’re a businessman worried about the repercussions of Trump getting battered, mugged and knee-capped by the thugs at “Biden”‘s DOJ, NY’s Governor Hochul says don’t give it a second thought:
“Trump’s $355M fine won’t hurt NY businesses that follow the law, Gov. Hochul says”—
    https://nypost.com/2024/02/18/us-news/trumps-355m-fine-wont-hurt-ny-businesses-that-follow-the-law-gov-hochul-says/

Now what law might that be…?

  18. furthermore there is no followup to the actions this penzance crew entertains, like when they exchanged victor Bout, a known facilitator of weapons and other materiel for a cipher, it’s been about a year, has that made any difference in the fortunes in the Ukraine or other places, on the board,

then during the Trump administration, the possums did things like release the Senate intel report, that catapulted Prigozhin from a lowly caterer with some debts and some other pies including the security biz, into a big star, Prigozhin could not have paid for that kind of publicity, that put him in top recognition over 299 other oligarchs, the Mueller codicil where he went after that media arm Concord, was another spectacle that was shut down by a very able atty who was a veteran of South Florida and New York bars, of course, Prigoszhn a little like John Gotti, began to believe his own fate, and thought himself as a latter day Pugachev or Kornilov, that was probably the beginning of the end,

another sideshow was that woman name escapes me now, that had some relations with NRA executives and certain Russian players, she became a minor star when she was sent back after a year

  19. @Someday

Yes, Navalny was most likely killed by Putin and he was an opposition politician. One that sought out agents of a foreign country and asked them for money in trade for overthrowing the leader of his country. Even the laws of the US, which are of course no longer enforced, call that treason.

IF they were true. Do you have any evidence that they are? Because the only evidence I’ve seen was a botched video clip by some idiot who spoke worse English than even my Russian friends.

AND MOREOVER, IN SHARP CONTRAST TO THIS SUPPOSED CLAIM, WHO HAS THE RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT ACCUSED OF WORKING WITH NAVALNY IN THIS SUPPOSED TREASON? WHO HAVE THEY DECLARED PERSONA NON GRATA WITH THIS AS THE STATED REASON AND KICKED OUT OF THE COUNTRY? WHO HAVE THEY BROUGHT INTO CUSTODY?

<b. AND WHY THE FUCK DID THEY NEVER BOTHER BRINGING IT INTO A PUBLIC TRIAL? You’d THINK a Russian Government with such a deep historical tradition and love of it that they are doing this to Ukrainian Loyalist POWs would LOVE to do this to the Opposition’s Golden Boy, and the single most well known Russian opposition figure in the West. So. Why. The. Hell. Did. They. Not?

Protip: This is a good indication you’ve been taken for a goddamn ride by propaganda in the media again.

There’s probably a reason why the Russian dictatorship hasn’t bothered lodging this as a formal complaint or legal suit, even on its home territory, and it isn’t because of having too much evidence.

Which brings us to the fact that Vladimir Putin has systematically violated the Laws of Russia, such they are, and turned the Constitution of Russia (which admittedly was never the strongest document) into swiss cheese in order to maintain power. Even at the direct expense of the supposed holy, united, and indivisible Russian Nation, as his policies towards the Kadyrov Clan show. While I won’t pretend that I would desire to see Putin’s head on a spike because of matters of Russian legality, I will note that Navalny and a host of others have every reason to want him gone by almost any means necessary.

Perhaps your views on that have been warped by how many outright traitors the US has in the current regime that have not been so much as verbally chastised by the media, much less charged with jaywalking.

Perhaps one who had to get forcibly corrected about basics of modern Iranian history should not cast stones so much. I am well aware of the criminal nature of many in the US Government. I have spoken at length about them and their sins and crimes, from the sham trials of January 6th to the censorship. I have no reason to want to do it.

However, none of this gives me any reason to want to laud a kleptocratic tyrant and opponent of the West (not merely because of the current poxes of corruption and globalism but on principle) and ally of our enemies beyond what might be justified by expediency. A justification that does not apply to Vladimir Vladimirovich considering his perfidy, staunch alignment with our enemies (including Islamists of both Sunni and Shiite flavor including the Great Satan of Iran’s Ayatollahcracy), and general untrustworthiness.

None of this means I will refuse to give him credit where I think he has merit or has done a good thing. I just rarely have to do because he rarely deserves it.

Who started the war.in the Ukraine?

Simple. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the Russian Dictatorship. And how do we know they were the ones to start it? Well in addition to being able to track the deployments of Russian Federation land forces units into Ukraine pretty much from 2014 (including equipment that is exclusive to the Russian Federation like TIGR) and the presence of several high ranking and well known agents of the Kremlin….

…. we know it because the Kremlin clammed up and remained mostly silent about the supposed causes of the war for more than a year or two, fervently denying that the troops operating like Guards Spetznaz in Crimea and the Donbas were Guards Spetznaz while claiming the equipment could be gotten from any Military Surplus Store (which MIGHT be true depending on how corrupt the Russian regime and its military stores are, but which CANNOT explain their deployment from Russian fleet assets).

Until after the Crimea Anschluss was “safely” concluded, the most vocal dissidents were executed publicly or disappeared, and the Ukrainian loyalist troops that had remained in their barracks were rounded up and captured. At which point Putin publicly acknowledged what every one of us watching this situation had already known, that he had ordered Russian troops to seize Crimea , the unspoken admission being that he had lied through his teeth and intervened on false pretexts considering he never bothered to claim any of the pretexts he claimed now (of “Ethnic Cleansing” – in a country where even many of the Ukrainian Neo-Fascists like in Right Sector are ethnic Russian Russophones, “Peacekeeping” – ask the Armenians and Georgians how that has turned out – or so on).

Oh, but he “conveniently” limited this admission to Crimea, while continuing to try and claim that all the activity in the Donbas (in spite of things like unique armored cars and high end Electronic Warfare Equipment) were purely the result of authentic grass roots rebellion (of which there was a fair bit) and not at all that of Russian Federation troops being false flagged and sent over the border like the Sudeten Freikorps or the Kwantung Army’s local puppets.

Please ignore the legal admissions going back years in internal Russian courts and the roving crematoria.

Who promised Russia when the Soviet Union went down that NATO WOULD NOT recruit people on Russia’s border into NATO and within days started breaking that promise?

Literally Fucking Nobody, and I DARE you or ANYBODY else to actually present a binding statement on that.

The reality is quite simple. Any given US Official or Government LACKED THE AUTHORITY TO MAKE SUCH A PROMISE because NATO is a VOLUNTARY ASSOCIATION OF COUNTRIES, and unlike in Russia or other dictatorial countries (and even to this day in spite of Biden and Obama’s worst efforts and systematic corruption) our legislature is not a rubber stamp.

This became especially apparent when THE COUNTRIES ON RUSSIA’S BORDERS- TIRED OF OFTEN CENTURIES OF ABUSE, AGGRESSION, AND MISTREATMENT BY MOSCOW, and ABLE TO POINT TO BOTH THE HELSINKI FINAL ACCORD AND TO VARIOUS ACTIONS OF RUSSIAN AGGRESSION AGAINST NATIONS LIKE MOLDOVA AND GEORGIA IN THE EARLY AND MID 1990s – BEGAN BANGING ON THE DOOR ASKING TO GET IN.

And ultimately this helped create a groundswell of support that made even the foggy bottom goons and their equivalents in places like Berlin and the Quay d’Orsay could not withstand.

And that proved to be a GOOD Choice. The Eastern European members of NATO have routinely been the sanest, honest, and most wholehearted in contributing to the common cause, both in Europe and abroad like in Iraq (where the Poles were the underheralded Third Ally in charge of their own Coalition).

Moreover, Putin fucked up. Ukraine was the single largest country in former Soviet Space to outright reject trying to get into NATO or the EU in favor of a policy of “nonalignment.” That policy got it years of frustrating, bullshit legal wrangling over tariffs and pipelines with the Kremlin as well as actual election interference of the scale the Left tried to claim was happening in the US (complete with vote rigging attempts and poisoning a Presidential Candidate) before it ultimately resulted in war.

Who has been trying hard ever since to make certain that Russia would continue to be the West’s big boogeyman no matter what Putin does or says?

    Not many people.

In case you haven’t realized, every single Presidential Administration since Putin came into office has started their term openly appeasing him (often to the point of throwing allies under the bus and demonizing the other party for somehow “ruining” relations with the Kremlin). This is most evident with Obama and Clinton’s “reset” after mocking Romney’s claim that Russia was our greatest geostrategic enemy (which I disagree with in light of the PRC, Pakistan, and Iran) in favor not of talking about our other enemies but claiming how the past “wants its foreign policy back.”

And every Single Presidential Administration has gotten backstabbed by Putin with an eye towards openly humiliating them. Which is why the second half of their terms or their second terms tend to be a lot more hostile towards Putin.

This happened to Trump, it happened to Obama, it happened to Dubya Bush, and it happened to Clinton. And it was predicted cogently by people like Mark Steyn (who are hardly globalist patsies who think the Kremlin is our greatest threat) back in the early 2000s.

After a certain point in time we need to stop blaming ourselves for why the bald, unfaithful KGB psychopath doesn’t like us.

I do get why so many in the west hate Putin.

You probably get why SOME in the West hate Putin, but not people like me. People who have never loved the MSM, who have been to Russia in person and seen what life under his regime is like, and who have studied history (to the point where I have to correct your mistakes).

Until I cut my cable service and stopped watching the big news media I hated him too.

I don’t watch the “big news media’ at all except for basic survey work to see what our enemies are saying and in the odd chance I am missing something, so that doesn’t explain me, in the same way it doesn’t explain the Polish and Baltic Conservatives who know what he is.

But since then I’ve come to see him as a Russian version of Trump, aside from being the only other western leader who ever gets seen attending a Christian Church service.

Well I hate to break it to you Somebody, but you dun got conned. Again.

Because that’s exactly the kind of image the MSM and left want to portray him as, and also what he wants to portray himself as to Western conservatives like us (which is in sharp contrast to how he portrays himself to the middle of the roaders, Western leftists, the PRC, and a host of others).

I’d highly suggest perusing some other sources to get out of your bubble. And I’d gladly recommend some of these, who cannot be accused of being MSM flaks or anti-Trump.

FreedomAlternative’s “Putin is a Progressive” and “Russia is not Great” series are probably good starting places and basically trash the idea that Putin is a balting Russian Trump (rather than a downright sociopathic former KGB goon with leftist tendencies and strong affinities with the CCP and Islamists). I’d start there.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6krhd5MADzY

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm9P1woURys

And the great Professor Gerdes is also a good reference, in large part because he is both Pro-Trump and Pro-Ukraine, and shows how support for Ukraine CAN (though it might not necessarily) fit into an American First framework. And is useful for dousing the idea that Trump is loyal to Putin.

    https://www.youtube.com/@Professor-Gerdes

Suffice it to say, if you think that Putin is Russian Trump, much like you seemed to think the evil US overthrew Mossadegh and “put in” the Shah, YOU ARE STILL BEING BLINKERED BY LEFTIST PROPAGANDA AND NARRATIVE WARFARE, even after cutting the cord (and don’t get me wrong, that’s an admirable move and a good start).. Which is one reason why one of the wisest statements about the power of the MSM is that their greatest power is the ability to IGNORE.

In much the same way they ignored the Biden Laptop, the host of scandals there, Obama and co’s appeasement of Putin, and their ties there.

PS: It is still pretty common for politicians, and especially national level politicians throughout the West, to visit Churches. Trump does regularly, as does DeSantis. Ever ask yourself why that doesn’t get covered as much, or outright gets covered up like with Obama and the erm… “Peculiar” Quality of “Reverends” Wright’s theology?

This is what we in “the Business” call narrative warfare.

Like Trump, Putin places the interests of Russia first, not the interests of western leftists and their billionaire globalist friends.

Yeah no. This sounds plausible for about five seconds, until you start researching the influence of the “Chechen Card” and particularly the Kadyrov Dynasty and how they have polluted Russian society, as well as the continued culture of abuse in the Russian military towards junior conscripts. Imagine thinking Trump would not only make deals with the likes of Omar and co in Dearbornistan and the Twin Cities of Minn and St. Paul, but indeed defacto give control of those states’ politics to an explicitly Islamist regional government.

That’s what has happened in Chechnya these last several years. This is not something that any true “Russia Firster” would permit, and indeed it is why Yeltsin and later Putin went to war against the Chechen separatists for running essentially an Islamo-Fascist Mafia State. And now Putin is permitting the heirs of some of the more collaborative former separatists to persecute Russian Christians and impose a private dictatorship on what is supposed to be sovereign Russian soil while purging those who criticize them, precisely so he can keep a tighter grip on power.

None of which, of course, you can expect the MSM or the like to talk about in any great detail both because of their staggering incompetence/lack of knowledge in general, and because of how an honest assessment of it would involve unflattering discussion of the Islam Card and its role in the Kadyrov Dynasty’s ideology and government. All one has to do is look at Rotherham and Ilhan Omar to know they’re not going to do that.

And like Trump he cares not one little bit who doesn’t like that. Leftists really froth at the mouth when someone does that.

That’s less because he is some kind of good guy and more because he is a pig headed, egotistical nutjob who has allowed his country to rot at the seams and basically ran his own personal life into the ground for his own pleasure (which admittedly has some parallels with Trump, but Trump has consistently been said even by his estranged ex-wives to be a good father, which Putin is apparently not).

I used to badmouth Putin too for the assinations of the neighbors.

    And I still will.

Until the day came that I finally asked not did he do it, but why did he do it? No one ever seems to want to talk about why do they?

I do constantly. Indeed I point out in many cases where he actually inherited ongoing problems like in Transnistria in Moldova and Georgia.

Because Russia was promised that NATO would not move on up to the Russian border and then spent over 20 years doing exactly that?

Absolute. Bullshit. That’s not what did it, and I can prove it through the arcane art of “Checking up on the timeline.”

Firstly, again: The Transnistrian War and the first sparks of the Georgian War started in 1990. That was before NATO had expanded to incorporate East Germany, let alone anywhere else. This was before Putin’s time (and indeed shows that while he has deeply shaped – and I would argue corroded – Russian politics around his person, several issues well predate him and are not dependent on him).

Secondly: Kindly show me EXACTLY where this supposed “promise to Russia’ was given. Who made it? When? To whom? Got a link to the document or exact phrasing?

This is where most of what tends to get portrayed as “American Promises not to expand NATO” fall apart, as I pointed out to others like Brian E, MBunge, and others. Because in general these were made by politicians who – while generally sympathetic to not expanding NATO or even disbanding it – KNEW FULL WELL they were limited in what promises they COULD make when dealing with an organization where every other member state gets a say and where neighboring nations had to get it.

If you wish to present me with documents, I will gladly go through them. However, until then I am inclined to put this in the low information trash pile along with your idea that Operation Ajax went according to the leftist Hollywood script and (unlike even the Leftist Hollywood version) happened in WWII.

And also because Russia used to be an empire and has never really stopped being one and Empires do have an interest in having a sphere of influence around their borders for enemies to get through before actually reaching those borders.

This much is true, and one I’d have more condolences for. The issue is that, Putin’s government officially claimed to not be an Empire any more and that it acknowledged every country in Europe had the right to free determination of its political orientation (or none at all), the right to decide whether or not to join any international organization, and the right to not have its neighbors violently seize its sovereign territory.

    Don’t believe me?

    https://www.osce.org/helsinki-final-act

And this was reaffirmed by Putin’s government upon seizing power, and reaffirmed again in the Astana Commemorative Declaration.

    https://www.osce.org/mc/74985

Now it’s pretty obvious that the Russian government under Putin did not actually adhere to these agreements in good faith, much like it did not adhere to the Budapest Memorandum (where Russian demands were a major driving force due to fears of even a vestigial nuclear Ukraine).

But the fact remains that he and his government did sign them. Moreover, it underlines the fact that the Russian government HAD, AND HAS NO RIGHT To demand other countries be part of its Sphere of Influence or to violently annex their territory by force. Both of which he has done, and which we have every reason to believe he would likely seek to do.

Like I said Putin places Russia’s interest first, like a Russian should.

Like I said and like FreedomAlternative and Professor Gerdes point out, that’s untrue and naive. Putin happily betrays Russia’s interests when it suits his personal ambitions, even if it is staggeringly damaging to Russia in the long term. He does pursue imperialism in its “near abroad” because it happens to do that.

    Don’t like that?

No, I do not. And what is more, neither do my friends in NATO’s Eastern countries, in Ukraine, or even in Russia itself. And I imagine people like the pregnant Russian reservist who were told to come to serve in combat or face a prison term don’t either.

Well remember when leftists threatened Elon Musk with pulling advertisers from his media platform and Elon looked them in the eye and said “Go F yourselves.”? Putin has been doing that to Westerns leftists and the globalists for a lot longer than Musk has been.

No, no he has not. The fact that you think he has speaks to your poor knowledge of Putin and his diplomatic history, as well as the long history of coverup by both the Western leftists and Putin, so they can (for their own reasons) claim Putin is a Russian Trump.

But ask yourself this: If Putin really were a Russian Trump telling the Globalists of the West and Biden to “Go F Yourself”, would he be working hand in glove with Biden and co to give the Iranian Ayatollah what he wants in yet another Nuclear Deal?

    https://nypost.com/2022/03/12/biden-is-letting-putin-run-the-iran-nuclear-talks/

I’m guessing you did not know that. Or if you did, you didn’t give it the proper weight it is due.

But, but he holds Europe over a barrel with his gas pipelines. Well why not? He places Russia first, not Europe.

In large part due to Green insanity…. which I note he has played a leading role in funding throughout the West (including strengthening the Leftist Globalists against the idea of Drill Baby Drill).

    https://weber.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=1208

On some level that makes a fair bit of sense, since whether or not he favors Russia First (as you claim) or Putin First (as I believe the evidence indicates), both end up the same way and he might as well make hay at our missteps. But that doesn’t change the fact that he is actively financing the Green Apocalyptic cults helping to make our life miserable.

For better or worse the Israelis, Cypriots, Greeks, Norwegians, and so other have done.

And he did not force Europe to place themselves over that barrel, they did it voluntarily.

Sure, but he did happily pay plenty of bribes to high ranking figures in Europe like Gerhard Schroeder and Mutti Merkel to help further it and spit in Trump’s eye.

And Europe and the US have been working hard since the early 90s to keep Russia down,

Utter bullshit. The US and Europe have generally been working hard to try and engage with Russia and help it rise until VERY recently. Even the “90s” and the ill-starred financial policies there were based mostly on a legitimate effort to try and help Russia get off its feet after decades of corrosive Soviet leadership (and unfortunately most of the fiscal eagles both in the West and among Russia’s reformers underestimated the power of bureaucracy and mafia connections and their ability to snap up vast portions of the Soviet infrastructure. Compare/contrast to Poland, Latvia, Romania, etc). And until about 2022 the Western Left saw Putin as a partner and occasional boogeyman rather than an existential enemy (hence Biden’s attempts to downplay the threat of a Russian escalation in Ukraine).

Of course, this narrative is convenient to further, because it fits into the Kremlin’s narrative of constant Russian victimhood to justify bad, illegal, and self-defeating behavior. While glossing over inconvenient features.

I note at no point whatsoever did you bother addressing the likes of Transnistria, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, the genocide of the Ingush, and so on at all.

move NATO forces to their border

As a result of nations in Europe seeking NATO ascension to avoid Russian aggression. Well, THAT turned out to be a smart move, considering how in all of Putin’s wars he has not once invaded a NATO member. Precisely because he knows what that would lead to.

And this is why for all of their problems with recent government I thank Sweden and Finland for calling Putin’s bluff and exposing the “We’re fighting to prevent NATO expansion” canard as the shameless, self-serving lie it was.

and generally to keep Russia as the big enemy.

Mate, the Kremlin’s been keeping us as their big enemy far more than we have been them. Seriously, take a look at almost any Foggy Bottom thinktank piece between 1991 and 2014. In contrast we were the enemy that the Kremlin identified openly, whether it was officially with the “Primakov Doctrine” (which has now failed in large part due to the Kremlin’s criminal thuggery), or in the more esoteric and unofficial Eurasianism by Dugan and his clan.

What, you thought they are not allowed to screw their enemies right back?

Depends. But they don’t get the right to illegally designate neutral countries that have not wronged them as their enemies and screw them in ways like illegal territorial annexation.

Moreover, I’ll note that the Kremlin has been want to screw its ALLIES as well as its enemies, which is part of the reason we got here in the first place.

Don’t believe me? Study Russian-Belarusian Trade Relations and get back to me.

    https://webarchive.archive.unhcr.org/20230518161903/https://www.refworld.org/docid/57ea7b024.html

I’m also guessing you probably haven’t heard of the Primakov Doctrine, let alone read official articulations of it, or heard of the Milk War and the host of other peacetime tariff wars between the Russian Federation on one side and nations like Ukraine (before 2014) and Belarus.

By the way, the Nordstream pipeline blew up about 18 months ago. Last I heard it was some Ukranian who did it.

Largely because you’ve been listening to low grade Kremlin propaganda that even Moscow isn’t stupid enough to try and act substantially on, and believing it.

I don’t know who blew up Nordstream. I thought it was probably an accident until the Swedes claimed it wasn’t. The Ukrainians are certainly possible, though there’s been no confirmation on that even by the Kremlin. Last I heard it was likely the PRC, which I had never thought of before but which makes a lot of sense given the desire to make Russia more dependent on Chinese markets and to push Russia away from Europe without presenting the risk of an escalation between Russia and NATO.

But I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know, and you certainly don’t.

Though I would ask how it was done without NATO or US help.

Research deep sea engineering in the Black Sea and get back to me. IF this was done by Ukrainian Loyalists (and that is a BIG IF), it is POSSIBLE NATO and the US helped, but it was by no means necessary.

And it’s worth noting that the Kremlin narratives by useful idiots like Seymour Hersh that this was the case fell flat on their face from basic fact checking. Our host has talked about this.

    https://www.thenewneo.com/2023/02/11/seymour-hersh-and-the-pipeline-again/

And while some defend the Ukraine no matter what, who among them wants to mention the Biden family, bribes, corruption, money laundering, the use of the Ukraine to take untold billions of taxpayer dollars and transfer them into to the personal pockets of American politicians, the people who tell us Putin is the boogeyman for calling them out on that?

I’ve HAPPILY talked about all that. And indeed it’s one reason I vehemently oppose those trying to vilify Trump for trying to lean on the Ukrainians to investigate Biden’s corruption. Especially since we’re far more likely to get answers that way than trying to lean on Putin to investigate Biden and Clinton BS that happened in connection with Russia, in spite of how we can be damn clear that happened.

But Putin obviously didn’t invade Ukraine in a crusade to free it from corruption. He wouldn’t have supported a barely reformed mafioso who used riot police as his personal death squads if he had.

And the guy who mentioned all those things in WWII that did not happen in Iran as if I had claimed things about them which I had not.

Mate, I quite literally quoted you. Don’t try and play dumb or innocent. You uncritically took the mainstream narrative of Operation Ajax and St. Mossadegh at face value, and then fucked up in ways they don’t by confusing the difference between what happened to Iran in Operation Ajax in 1953, and what happened to it in WWII about a decade earlier.

Let’s say this again, the US overthrew the elected govt. of Iran

You. Fucking. Idiot. You could not make it through a SINGLE SENTENCE before you fall headfirst into a myth. In spite of how in the previous post I TOOK A GREAT DEAL OF TIME explaining the inner workings of the Iranian Constitution.

I’ll say it again and I’ll say it now: No, the US did not overthrow “The elected government of Iran.”

It overthrew its Prime Minister, Mossadegh, who had been acclaimed democratically by the Iranian Parliament and then grudgingly appointed by the Shah, only for Mossadegh to then violate the constitution, seize power that didn’t belong to him, and exile much of the Parliamentary Opposition and the Shah.

While in loose alliance I might add with literal Stalinist paramilitaries.

Even if Mossadegh’s acclamation by Parliament mattered a damn under the Iranian Constitution (which contra to most constitutional monarchies it did not, the appointment by the Shah did), in WHAT WORLD would we consider a usurper who rigged elections and tried to use paramilitary terror tactics to dispose of his domestic opposition legitimate?

    and replaced with a dictator

Again: The Shah was THE legal head of Iran, under both historical and constitutional terms. THE ONLY LEGITIMACY UNDER THE LAW MOSSADEGH HAD, WAS THAT HE WAS APPOINTED PM BY THE SHAH.

Now, the Shah (unsurprisingly traumatized by NEARLY BEING KILLED BY A GODDAMN USURPER HE HAD APPOINTED BY PRIME MINISTER WHILE WATCHING HIS COUNTRY NEARLY BREAK INTO CIVIL WAR AND/OR POSSIBLE SOVIET INVASION) DID go on to violate the Iranian Constitution egregiously and ruled as a crowned dictator afterwards. And that is bad and the West should have taken more attention to stopping it. But the idea that he was a dictator at the time of Ajax is pure dishonesty.

just so the British could buy Iranian oil dirt cheap instead of at a market price.

Riiiight. “just so that.” Nevermind how Eisenhower had an acknowledged history of being leery about British and French commercial concessions abroad and had even rubber stamped things such as the Bolivian nationalization of American Tin and Copper Mines. And nevermind how the “Democratically Elected” Prime Minister was violating the Constitution, acting like a dictator, and partnering with the Communists.

British corporate greed certainly played a role, but it paled in comparison to the realization that a Useful Idiot of the Soviets might have seized power in Iran and just after narrowly avoiding WW3 starting from Soviet attempts to partition parts of Iran, the Reds might get all of it.

When’s the last time anyone told you about this? The MSM certainly won’t.

The United States, the great defender of freedom and democracy did that.

And they were justified in doing so, both according to our own interests and the Iranian Constitution. As well as, you know, the layman’s understanding of what “Freedom” and “Democracy” is.

Unless you think Freedom or Democratic Elections consist of Stalinist paramilitaries and aristocratic warlords roaming around intimidating or killing dissidents and exiling much of the legal government. In which case uh….. uh…… That’s an ODD definition for those things, but you do you.

And yes, that did play a major role among the Iranians for why they overthrew the Shah and went Moslem fundamentalist at the end of the 70s and have hated America ever since.

    No, it didn’t.

    Let’s do some basic chronology.

Operation Ajax and the Iranian Constitutional Crisis happened in 1953.

The Shah was deposed in 1978 and replaced with a Leftist Republic.

The Leftist Republic then got couped by the Mullahs (who I note SUPPORTED the Royalists and the US/UK against Mossadegh in 1953) in 1979.

This is something laypeople forget, much like people who think the Bolsheviks overthrew the Tsar in 1917 (when in reality they overthrew the Provisional Republic that overthrew the Tsar). But it’s worth noting. It’s also worth noting how the Shah got overthrown and why.

So, in 2014 the ELECTED govt. of the Ukraine was overthrown</blockquote

No, no it did not. I am goddamn tired of this canard after explaining how it is wrong over and over again. But even in Ukraine at the time, “The Elected Government” WAS NOT merely the President, or even the Executive Branch.

What happened in 2014 was that the Democratically Elected Legislative Branch voted to remove the Democratically Elected Cabinet and President from Office (and I note the Rada and the President were elected at the same time and indeed THE RADA WAS DOMINATED BY THE PRESIDENT’S OWN PARTY (the “Party of Regions”) AND COALITION (broadly called “the Blues”), on grounds that the President and Cabinet were incapable of carrying out their constitutional duties….. because the President and Cabinet responded to PERFECTLY LAWFUL SUMMONS BY PARLIAMENT to answer questions before it about their “possible” violations of the Ukrainian Constitution by *running the hell away without telling anyone.*

So after a day or two of being confused and wondering what happened, Parliament voted to depose the Yanukovych cabinet, and then transformed itself into a caretaker government while calling new elections to fill the constitutional void.

And again: It’s important for me to emphasize that THE PARLIAMENT THAT VOTED TO KICK THE CABINET OUT WAS JUST AS DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED AS SAID CABINET, COMING INTO OFFICE DURING THE SAME ELECTION.

This, unsurprisingly, tends to get glossed the hell over by Putin and his propagandists, who instead like to pretend this was some kind of coup against the entire Democratically Elected Government, while ignoring the new elections and also the fact that the decisive vote was done by people elected alongside and under Yanukovych.

But it’s also curious how in spite of yelling until they’re blue in the face that Yanukovych was the rightful President of Ukraine and the Legislature had no right to depose him…. they haven’t bothered claiming they are seeking to reinstitute Yanukovych as Rightful Pres of Ukraine or even offered him a role in the Donbaschukuo puppet administrations.

And there’s a reason for that. Namely. he’s goddamn hated and distrusted by almost everybody, including those who were on his side. He’s a former mafioso* who went into politics and went on to betray basically everyone (including Putin) at some point, so that on top of how he’d be a competitor for power is why he’s unlikely to be let back.

    * I know he was never formally a member of La Cosa Nostra as in the Sicillian/Sicillian-American Institution, but you get the idea. He was involved in local organized crime, admitted to it, and has the rap sheet to prove what a violent thug he was.

(some say the US had something to do with that)

    It did, though indirectly.

while parts of it were investigating corruption and bribery by certain American politicians who mostly seem to have offspring who hold very well paying seats on the board of a gas company in the Ukraine at least one of whom always gives a share to the Big Guy and replaced that govt. with a gay man whose prior claim to fame was making crappy gay music videos.

That’s certainly not what the Ukrainian Government was doing at the time. Indeed, investigations like that happened AFTER Euromaidan happened.

Indeed, the crucial moment happened when Biden engineered the removal of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General Shokin, WHO WAS APPOINTED IN 2015, THE YEAR AFTER YANUKOVYCH WAS OUSTED, BY THE GOVERNMENT THATWAS ELECTED IN THE ELECTIONS THE CARETAKER LEGISLATURE THAT VOTED TO REMOVE YANUKOVYCH DID.

    This is very basic.

2014: the climax of “Euromaidan”, Yanukovych flees to avoid answering questions to Parliament, Parliament votes to Remove him, Russia invades Crimea and the Donbas with the support of various local separatists.

2015: Viktor Shokin is appointed Prosecutor General, and while apparently somewhat casually corrupt began investigating other corruption, like Burmisa.

2016: Biden threatens to cut off aid to Ukraine if Shokin is not fired, and fired he is.

    https://nypost.com/2023/08/23/team-obama-loved-victor-shokin-why-did-biden-get-him-fired/

    https://www.thenewneo.com/2023/08/22/the-shokin-firing-wasnt-about-corruption-after-all-who-would-have-thought/

All undeniable facts, all in a chronology that isn’t debatable. But once again you’re fudging events by several years. Why I don’t know, though I’m inclined to be generous and assume lack of research and familiarity with the subject as well as going off half-cocked.

But it’s easy to believe why the Kremlin propaganda you’re imbibing would want to conflate Yanukovych’s ouster (for crimes against his own people as well as refusal to answer questions about it before his own Members of the Legislature in open session) in 2014, with the removal of Shokin for investigating Biden corruption in 2016. In spite of how Shokin was appointed by the people who came after Yanukovych.

Shall you now speak derisively at me about other things that happened somewhere else in the world at around the same time that had nothing to do with that as if that makes something I said magically not the truth>

No, I shall speak derisively about you because you’re apparently so incompetent and/or dishonest you make GLARING, UNDENIABLE failures in chronology and facts, and I have to go through line by line and correct them. Like I did here.

All the while you make bold, unsupported assertions as if they are the Words of God Almighty etched in Stone on the Mountain to Moses Himself. In spite of again how suspicious many of them are, and how many others literally CAN’T be true due to things like basic chronology or the facts of the Iranian or Ukrainian Constitution.

I may have the same God Given right to write and speak on this subject that you do, but I have JUSTIFIED that right and its conclusions through studious research and careful sourcing and argumentation.

You on the other hand quite literally do not know basic chronologies of what you’re talking about, and did not fact check. Which is why in spite of probably lauding yourself about how you are a Free Thinker who Cut The Cord you still unthinkingly mirorr leftist propaganda narratives.

And just who was it that said I blamed the Jews? I never even mentioned them. No doubt someone will regardless announce that I blame the Jews again. In which case I can only politely refer you to the words of Elon Musk.

Indeed, that was om, not myself, and I reject om’s cheap shot. While I do agree with om on much (including his points that you are buying into leftist propaganda) it was completely meritless to call you a “Russian Bot” or insinuate you must hate Jews.

Go ahead and knock yourself out.

    Already have.

I’m not going to reply again.

Your choice. In any case, I’m comfortable leaving my post up.

Life is too short and spending that time playing a computer game or reading a book instead really is a better use of my time than doing this.

Fair, but perhaps you should have realized you had better time to do that, or to research about the subjects you claim to know but actually don’t.

In any case, I submit the links I have posted (especially FreedomAlternative and Professor Gerdes Explains) for the America First, Pro-Trump argument for supporting Ukraine and rejecting the false claim Putin is a Russian Trump.

  20. to be precise, putin is an oprichnik, a policemen, (i’m indebted to the late William Butterworth, aka WEB Griffith,) and/or his son for this understanding, exactly what he did in Drezden is a little unclear, so many stories have been circulated some of which Putin allows because it makes his reputation, some have not proven out, like the work of Phillip Short has discovered, Ryazan and Dubrovka to cite two,

now who decided to go into the Chechen snake pit, well that would be Yeltsin, who having been poorly served by Gaidar and Chubais, and the shock therapy
they pushed, decided a splendid little war, would solve the problem of course that ignored how intractible the wars in that part of the world had been for the better part of 30 years, much like the French conquest of Algeria, second it didn’t consider the part of outside forces like Pakistans ISI, and Saudi General intelligence in pushing the likes of Khattab and Basayev through the IIRO and other outfits

in a similar way to our own Mesopotamian quagmire, Yeltsin got his man Dudayev, who was a moderate in the scheme of things, but then he unleashed greater forces like what was seen in Kizlar and Buddenovsk, but that was a second chapter,

Grozny was a snake pit the second time as well, also the more militant forces became predominant, the consequences of Zachitska, Search and Destroy, filtration centers* created the Black Widows who struck hard into the Russian psyche, the Moscow metro the airport et al

*these were pits gouged of the black earth that made Gitmo seem like Club Med,

no one would take this poison chalice except Kadyrov sr, who was blown up in turn, then his son, sort of like the Beast Rabban from the Dune series took the throne

  21. of course, the success of this iteration of the conflict, was little less to due to brute force, although operation like taking out yandarbichev in qatar, a little like what mossad tried to do to meshaal in 97, but more directly, like the hit in berlin a few years ago, the perpetrator is who they want to trade for whalen or gerskovich, most were wiped out within a few years of his taking power,
but the work of another clan, the yamadeyevs of gudermes, this who were incorporated into Chechen only Spetznaz groups that more firmly targeted their more militant rivals, of course no good deed Kadyrov was methodical enough to dispatch these possible contenders,
its suspected his men were the ones who dispatched Nemtsov and probably Politskaya for good measure,

in between these conflicts Putin had able manager in Serdyakov who didn’t come from the same rotten basket of apples as the High Command for Chechnya, so he replaced with this thick idiot, Shoigu from Siberia, who as I suggest is not the sharpest tool in the shed, hes the one who has expressed the most
Anti Ukraine sentiments in print, he commissioned this stupid war plan which probably violates every rule of history and strategy, but Gerasimov knew better and still went along, despite the fact that it has claimed perhaps two dozen staff officers and
a whole series of lower ranked ones like his nephew

  22. Turtler:

Professor Gerdes has been one of my YouTube subscriptions for many months.

Somebody hadn’t gotten around to blaming the Jews (yet) IMO.

He may not be a Russian
bot, but sure repeats Vlad’s talking points, again IMO.
