  1. Rained last night, very good.

My thoughts on Tucker. We would have him on while we ate dinner. Often I would just have to turn him off. He was a One Trick Pony on Ukraine. He would turn something that really was not related to Ukraine and make it Ukraine. He is an Isolationist, with to my mind no real understanding of International politics or events. On other subjects he could take something and twist it around to give the impression it was something else. He believed things that were just plain not believable and state them as Fact, with Sy Hersh being one example. Yes, he did good with the J6 videos, but he did edit them too for his advantage. He did not show the clips of “Buffalo Man” carrying the lecture out. So Tucker was not the Saint that some are making him out to be. Will Fox suffer, yes, but for how long? Will Tucker be successful somewhere else, yes but to what degree? Do you watch The Blaze?

  2. The video is touching. Tucker told the truth, especially about Ukraine, and the Murdochs could not stand it. I expect he will do something like Joe Rogan. I look forward to it. I immediately cancelled my Fox Nation subscription. Tucker was the only TV I watched.

  3. Carlson was not right on everything, but he was far better, far smarter, far more informed, and far more articulate than any of the other conservative leaning commentators around.

“Do not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.”

  4. Dense fog here. Though I had the pleasure yesterday of basking in sunlight at my hilltop, while looking down the hill at the fog blanketed portion of my community. Love the microclimates.

Tucker was one of the few people with a megaphone who really tried to engage in truth telling as a revolutionary act. Sure, he missed the mark from time to time. Who knows where the mark is on some topics?

I think we’re living in very dangerous times with regards to information control and dissemination. In some ways I suspect we’re already beyond the likes of the Soviets and the PRC. The secret intertwining of the government deep state intelligence and law enforcement agencies and corporations is severely troubling.

  5. physicsguy,

Absolutely agree regarding Ramaswamy. And DeSantis. Vivek seems like a sincerely good individual and he is incredibly accomplished. I like what DeSantis has done for Florida and how aggressive he has been at pushing back against Leftism, and, as I’ve written before, he has an outstanding resume. But I don’t get the “warm fuzzies” when I see him on television, or when he speaks.

And Ramaswamy was outstanding in that ludicrous “interview” by Don Lemon. Vivek Ramaswamy kept his cool, but also called out Lemon’s racism and idiotic distortion of history.
Lemon, dismissively, “Whatever ethnicity YOU are…”

  6. If Megyn Kelly’s source is correct here, then I was correct in my speculation on the earlier, Tucker Carlson thread :

According to Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson isn’t officially fired yet. They’re working out the settlement.

What I hear Fox is that Fox is refusing to pay him a settlement for firing him, becaue they claim he quit. They are willing to pay him, though. They are attempting to tell him that he has to continue taking his salary — but remain off the air for the final two years of his contract. They are claiming that they still have him under contract and that he can’t go out and do his own show as long as they keep paying him. They want to pay him not to compete with them.

  7. Rupert’s 92, probably wants to believe there is no Hell pretty desperately.

  8. Rufus,

I wrote somewhere yesterday that Carlson will find it very, very difficult to get onto another platform. They didn’t ax him only to let him pop up again with more viewers than before. There will be a long term effort taken to keep him from reaching viewers.

  9. Rufus,

I’m getting a bit annoyed with DeSantis vis-a-vis Disney. Now Disney is suing him and Florida as of today.

I’m one of those who think ANY corporation should just stay in their lane, sell their products and stay the hell out of politics. The CEO etc can do want they want on their own dime and time. Disney was totally wrong to do what it did, and I thought the pushback by DeSantis at the time was appropriate. I also figured after the initial year the two sides would quietly negotiate and reach a settlement; especially after Iger took over. But no, with all the back and forth now, it has devolved into a pissing contest between two alpha males who can’t seem to understand now at this point it’s not helping either. Like it or not, DeSantis seems to have forgot that WDW is a large portion of the central Florida economy. And WDW needs to understand the competition from Universal and Sea World is ramping up WITHOUT the Reedy Creek advantage.

I know my view is probably not popular here at Neo’s…so fire away.

  10. physicsguy,

I thought what WDW did was incredibly idiotic, and, like you, was glad at DeSantis’ pushback. Then, the departing Disney boards cleverbyhalf use of medieval British monarchical law was even more idiotic. I don’t think DeSantis has any choice but to fight that, but he can take the high ride in the public discourse. Joking about building a prison in Kissimmee is childish.

And, as I wrote earlier, I was disappointed DeSantis stepped into the Bud Light boycott issue. I’m personally for the boycott and happy to see it is sending a message, but a Governor shouldn’t take sides with legal businesses operating in his or her state.

With DeSantis, Ramaswamy, Scott, Haley, Elder and other, interesting candidates to run on the GOP side (Paul?, Cruz?…) we could have a really beneficial, informative primary where we would learn more about DeSantis who may be eclipsed by one of the others, HOWEVER, Donaldus Trumpus will suck every molecule of oxygen from the arena and we will end up with an absolute circus where the best candidate will almost certainly not prevail.

  11. Like it or not, DeSantis seems to have forgot that WDW is a large portion of the central Florida economy. And WDW needs to understand the competition from Universal and Sea World is ramping up WITHOUT the Reedy Creek advantage.
    ==
DeSantis isn’t ruining their product line, they are. They can contend with state, county, and municipal government like any other business. They had privileges they did not merit. The controversy motivated the state legislature to take them away as it should have done decades ago.

  12. Art Deco,

True, but only partially. Out of the diverse Disney portfolio, it’s WDW that is actually profitable. The other divisions are losing money. And Universal is quickly nipping at their heels.

  13. Universals’ two theme parks in Orlando are incredible; as are their hotels and City Walk entertainment area! My family has been going for years (hurray for Florida resident discounts), including the first year Islands of Adventure opened. It was awesome even before they added all the Harry Potter stuff. We’ve stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and my wife has stayed at the Portofino. Both very enjoyable with good staff, but our favorite is the cheapest; Cabana Bay. Incredible fun and the designers completely nailed the early ’60s vibe. It’s like stepping into a time capsule of an era I really don’t remember.

  14. once upon a time, when I was more naive, I believed all these authorities, then the wars got longer more blood was spilled more money spent, we discovered the kingmaker of iraqi politics was general suleimani, he decided which prime minister stayed or went, his militias targeted our military at will, the subject regime allowed islamic state to flourish, the colonels and generals and intel officers oddly rarely mentioned that fact, the current crew targeted karzai who was our ally on the ground, and let the taliban flourish, I used to respect general mccrystal and petraeus, what a fool I was,

  15. general flynn actually drew up the plan that mccrystal used for his counterinsurgency strategy (in the movie of his hastings memoir, they had the actor from dexter play him whereas mccrystal was played by brad pit) he went up to dia and produced consistently good intelligence including a prescient memo about islamic state in 2012, why obama dismissed him and put in a second rater like stewart, who gave him happy talk, truth is not rewarded so flynn was smeared in rather sloppy way, by the likes of halper and co, who actually let real russian agents run rampant, flynn could distinguish real intelligence from fake, so of course they had to get him, pence was an easy mark, not for the first time,

then you see what happened what senior chief gallagher, the senior enlisted seal in the navy, framed by ncis, there are no gibbs in the real agency, so you wonder are they interested in fighting the war, who keeps rising over the mud, the likes of general austin and milley,

  16. The house passes the debt ceiling limit increase. Now the lying by the Democrats and their left-wing media will begin. I think this is a major achievement by McCarthy and his team although it was close. They did it by one vote 217-215.

Here are some of the items in the bill. In for a penny, in for a pound.

Rescinding the funding for 87,000 IRS agents
    Reallocating unspent COVID-19 relief money
Eliminating Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan
Ending tax credits for companies that invest in green energy
Raising the age limit to 56 from 50 on work requirements to receive federal food aid from the >Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP
Blocking the Biden administration from limiting consumer access to gas stoves or ovens

  17. HOWEVER, Donaldus Trumpus will suck every molecule of oxygen from the arena and we will end up with an absolute circus where the best candidate will almost certainly not prevail.

    Rufus T. Firefly:

I grant Trump was much better as President than I expected. Bless him. But that’s exactly my concern.
