  1. Oh yes. Our basset hound, Nick, would eventually get used to us leaving for a couple of hours but, if we were gone for 4 days, in spite of our dog sitter, he would get super excited and yelp for a few minutes when we got home. We are sad this week because we had to put him to sleep a few days ago.

  2. Another non-surprise:
    ‘ ‘Results are changing quickly’: Media, Big Tech take pains to bury Pfizer ‘mutate’ video;
‘FDA declines to say whether it asked Pfizer for explanation of undercover video. Tucker Carlson producer claims Google staffer “call[ed] us to kill the story.” Tabloid quickly erases report with no explanation.’—

We are at the cusp of totalitarianism.

    Or whatever…

  3. The intimidation and censorship efforts of the Sarasota Dem party, and the students, faculty and administration at New College were nasty, vile and repugnant. https://thefederalist.com/2023/01/26/desantis-college-appointees-like-chris-rufo-show-the-battle-for-americas-academies-is-far-from-over/

The sentencing of a rioting firebomber to only one year in prison is a reminder that Democrats have explicitly rejected the idea of equal protection of law.

The satanic Dems of Colorado continue to harass and abuse a poor, innocent baker for the crime of religious belief and the abhorrent desire for simple, basic liberty to live and make personal decisions. We no longer live in a free country or anything remotely like one.

These three examples are a tiny sample of the explicit 1984-style ‘othering’ that the Democrats and their voters are waging and cheering.

  4. These studies don’t discover anything, they just affirm what everyone knows. Yes, dogs miss us.

My daughter got a border collie, Chuck. After a couple of months she told Jeff (husband) “Looks like Chuck’s your dog.” Prior to that, Jeff was ambivalent to Chuck. He dismissed her claim.

So one day, fifteen minutes before Jeff was due home from work, she started recording Chuck sitting in front of the front door. Just sitting and staring – no real movement, even no tail wagging.

A few minutes before time, Chuck started getting antsy. Not *when* Jeff was due at the door, *before* he even pulled up in the car. When Chuck heard the car, he really got excited.

Jeff was floored when she showed him the video and ‘for some reason’ started showing more affection towards Chuck. Now Chuck is predominately Jeff’s dog and Jeff is Chuck’s person.

Also, there are numerous stories of dogs lamenting their owner’s passing and sitting or laying in a favored spot for his return. Sometimes for years:
    Hachiko

    Toto

    Mumbai

    And, of course:
    Greyfriar’s Bobby

Her claim is that there is no higher priority in our government than the completion of investigations currently being conducted by special counsels the Biden Justice Department has appointed, and that providing information to Congress would threaten the integrity of those investigations. Ergo, the administration won’t cooperate.
“This is factually frivolous and constitutionally impeachable

  6. My daughter went off the see the world after college and left her dog with us. When she returned about six months later, the dog ran to greet her, but there was a very slight hesitation as she sniffed to be sure her eyes and ears weren’t deceiving her. She trusted her sense of smell over her sight and hearing.

  7. Another dog guy here.
    Such a great link, thanks.
    They are sacred creatures.
Some say dogs who have passed await us, as the closest just across the river, alerting our family’s souls on the other side.

  8. Mike K, Sorry for your loss.
I do believe God gave us the dog to show us what unconditional love looks like.

    FooDawg, Molly Brown:

I believe I learned of Jeffers’ immortal dog poem from Gerard, along similar lines:
    _________________________________

    The House Dog’s Grave

I’ve changed my ways a little; I cannot now
Run with you in the evenings along the shore,
Except in a kind of dream; and you, if you dream a moment,
    You see me there.

So leave awhile the paw-marks on the front door
Where I used to scratch to go out or in,
And you’d soon open; leave on the kitchen floor
The marks of my drinking pan.

I cannot lie by your fire as I used to do
    On the warm stone,
Nor at the foot of your bed; no, all the night through
    I lie alone.

But your kind thought has laid me less than six feet
Outside your window where firelight so often plays,
And where you sit to read–and I fear often grieving for me–
Every night your lamplight lies on my place.

You, man and woman, live so long, it is hard
To think of you ever dying
A little dog would get tired, living so long.
I hope than when you are lying

Under the ground like me your lives will appear
As good and joyful as mine.
No, dear, that’s too much hope: you are not so well cared for
    As I have been.

And never have known the passionate undivided
    Fidelities that I knew.
Your minds are perhaps too active, too many-sided. . . .
But to me you were true.

You were never masters, but friends. I was your friend.
I loved you well, and was loved. Deep love endures
To the end and far past the end. If this is my end,

I am not lonely. I am not afraid. I am still yours.

    –Robinson Jeffers (1941)

Anyone who loves dogs gets this one and may indeed tear up. I know I can’t finish without.

This from a poet who really didn’t like people much.

  10. What can I say? I once re-met a dog, a lurcher I hadn’t seen in about 8 years, and we had been good friends when she was a puppy. Once she smelled me – she was about 13 years old then – she tore around in circles yipping and then jumping into my lap to lick my face, and then tearing around again, putting on quite a display like a young puppy again, it was really quite something to see.

Every night I go to sleep with 2 dogs jammed up on the bed, Australian Shepherd rescues, sisters. One has the Cone of Shame on right now, she ripped a toenail in half tearing around the land last week chasing and harassing her sister, who’s bigger and faster. About an hour in surgery at the country vet’s (she let me assist) to cut it back, staunch and cauterize it, then super-glue the remains. So now they’re both bored stiff this week, no running and playing, no long walks, wrapping the dang thing up in cling film every time we go out, to keep it clean.

Sometime during the night, one of the cat sisters will jump up and jam herself into an available nook for a while, the quietly depart. Raised together from 5 weeks, they are one pack, the four of them – the cats are also sisters, and will attend the walks too, if allowed. Animals are a special bond, a gift to humans, and I believe everything that is said about the other side where it concerns them.

  11. Huxley, thank you for sharing Jeffers poem. Wonderful!
(Yes, tears before I finished. )

    And Aggie,that was beautiful.
    What a lucky pack, too!

  12. And in (even) more “unsurprising” news…
…since the entire “Biden” administration is a sinister “shell game”—a “feature” that informs ALL of “Biden”‘s policies and decisions—this article is merely descriptive:
    ‘Biden administration playing ‘shell game’ to mask illegal immigration, former CBP chief alleges;
‘Under new rules, eligible migrants “don’t even have to go through the motions of claiming asylum,” said Mark Morgan. “Just hop on the internet to claim your free pass. That’s 360,000 would-be illegal aliens this coming fiscal year who will be granted defacto temporary amnesty.” ‘—-

  13. Speaking of “shell games”….
“Biden Administration’s Total Disregard for Iran’s Protestors, Nuclear Threat”—
    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/19343/iran-nuclear-threat
One might view the relationship of “Biden” and the Mullahs as one of “benign neglect” (“Biden” neglect?)…but this would mean IGNORING the billions that “Biden” has poured into Iran (in several installments, if with a HUGE—four-year—gap in the middle).
Nonetheless the farce—rather, sinister farce, since everything that “Biden” does derives from a sinister (and perverse) motivation—of “nuclear talks” (but especially the theatrical hand-wringing regarding the supposed “lack of progress” or “suspension” of those talks) has enabled Iran to motor on quite nicely thank you very much, developing and advancing their nuclear breakout—for peaceful purposes, it must be stressed—to advantage.
Meanwhile, those “Biden” billions have—surprise!—assisted Iran to itself assist Putin in his STRUGGLE to LIBERATE Ukraine, a country that “Biden” is—purportedly—trying desperately to help.
(Talk about WORKING both sides against the middle!)
Ah, and then there is “Biden”‘s relationship with China…
…making one wonder at what point will all those plates in the air that “Biden” has been juggling come crashing down…
(Though, thankfully—I guess SOME could say—the media and infotech, along with the intelligence community and other alphabet agencies, are doing their very best to lie, spin, subvert, cover up and otherwise ENSURE that those plates stay up there…)

  14. Huxley – that was nice. Been working off and on on a renovation at a city animal shelter, since our long lived cats died acouple years ago I have wanted a dog. Saw one there as a pickup stray but wife doesn’t want any more pets so couldn’t bring it home. Happily seems someone did adopt it as didn’t see it last time there.

  15. Wow, even the Brits seem to get it…

Nonetheless…Mr. “We-at-Pfizer-etc…” has SCRUBBED HIS TWITTER FEED—whadayaknow!—mostly likely because since he’s done nothing wrong(!) he really doesn’t want to give anyone the wrong impression…
(Most considerate of him, it must be said.)

  16. A good example of “too little too late”…

…And what might that “message” be?…
    Hmmm. Let’s try this:
‘Biden Just Signed “The Declaration of North America.” One North American Country?’—

    H/T Blazingcatfur blog.
Actually, it’s more like ONE WORLD—yes! Imagine!!—but that’s not exactly manageable at the moment.
(Still, the WTF and its sinister minions are working on it indefatigably!)

  17. It’s a bitter reality:

You hear that?? Ukraine is the number one priority. Not gas prices, not 7+% inflation, not spikes in violent crime, not the 20,000 illegals per day at the Border, not soaring food prices… it’s Ukraine. Ukraine. Not you, not your family, not your pocket.

    Our Government hates us

  18. Don’t worry MBunge! Biden’s on top of things….and he’s given “us” his “word as a Biden”(!)…
“Biden slammed after giving his ‘word as a Biden’ that America’s future looks great…”—
    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-slammed-giving-word-biden-americas-future-looks-great-screwed
    – – – – – – – – –
Actually, it seems to me that one doesn’t have to worry about Kyiv all that much—at least as far as nukes are concerned—simply because what we’re watching is carefully orchestrated theater. (This is small solace to those Ukrainians whose lives have been destroyed, to be sure.)
But “Biden” most certainly NEEDS this crisis—to hide all the other ones he’s been so artfully crafting; IOW so that “he” can blame the war, i.e., blame Putin, for the war and lots of other things besides (inflation, energy shortages, supply chain failures, blaming Republicans for “BACKING” PUTIN, etc.) thereby COVERING UP “his” own overarching goal of emasculating/transforming the US while also—FINALLY—completing Obama’s stalled initiative/policy/ideologically-driven dream of transforming—there’s that word again—the Middle East (i.e., cutting Israel down to size…that would be, if “he” doesn’t succeed in obliterating it entirely…while—never forgetting the Great Man’s twisted sense of humor—pinning all the blame for such an eventuality on Israel itself…).

After all, “Biden” NEEDS crises. To accomplish all of these visionary goals(!), he needs concealment, coverup, confusion, hysteria, a smokescreen, white phosphorous…call it “Maximum BS”.

But there MUST BE other reasons why “he” needs this war and this is less clear.
Is “he” being blackmailed? Does Ukraine know something that Biden (and “Biden”) do not want to be revealed (since if revealed, the whole house of cards comes tumbling down)? At least revealed NOT YET; that is not before “he” has achieved all, or most of, “his” goals. OTOH, IF Ukraine is in the position of blackmailer—i.e., IF—it CANNOT “play” this Ace for as long as it continues to need “Biden”‘s backing, which factor (if it is a factor) gives “Biden” a lot more flexibility and room to maneuver than he might otherwise have….

Can the same questions be asked of Putin? After all, if “Biden” is enabling Ukraine to continue the war (of resistance), “he” is also NOT PREVENTING Putin from continuing to wage its war of conquest. (Note, interestingly—it seems to me, though I may be wrong on this point—that Putin has not criticized the US with the same venom that he’s been attacking Europe…though this recent F-16 “issue” may have changed that significantly. MAY HAVE.
If all this conjecture is at all accurate, then it raises question, What does “Biden” need from Putin? (or expressed in another way, perhaps, What does Putin HAVE on “Biden”?) We know that “Biden” needed Russia WRT the “negotiations” with Iran. Does “he” still? Does “he” also need Putin’s support in “his” goal to betray Israel? (Or as “he” might put it, “Liberate our closest Mid-East ally from existence”?)
It also raises the question, What’s in it FOR Putin? I’m not sure what the answer might be here except—PERHAPS—“Biden”‘s “promise” that when “Biden” no longer needs Ukraine to remain silent, or no longer cares about being blackmailed, assuming that the blackmail card is real), then Putin can go full bore on the offensive. In the meantime, more glorious CRISIS!

WRT the Mullahs, we know that “Biden” has been supporting the Mullahs financially—AND MORALLY—and that the money “Biden” has gifted to Iran has been used to, among other things (e.g., arming Hezbullah, arming the Houthi, arming whom else? enabling Iran’s and Hezbullah’s extensive spread in Central and South America…) PROVIDE WEAPONS to Putin.
We know that Zelenskyy must also know this, but as mentioned above, Zelenskyy has his own delicate tightrope to walk.
There’s also the China angle at play here, and Xi MUST be watching “Biden”‘s balancing act very closely. China may(!) also have an interest in a weakened West (at least weakened militarily) and as we have heard Klaus Schwab believes that Communist China is a model to be followed.
Does this mean that it is in China’s interest the WTF succeeds in its nefarious megalomanic goals? Might China—the land of “GO”—then be able to benefit from a weakened West (if all goes more or less to plan)?

We know that “Biden” still needs crisis and chaos.
We also know that the WTF requires it (for its own, if related purposes of creating mayhem in the West so as to reduce the West’s will, its morale and its ability to resist the WTF own megalomanic, overarching plan, AKA “The Great Reset”).

So I don’t think nuclear war—even limited—is in the cards. (To be sure, who am I!).
    It could happen, unintentionally, certainly.
(That would be small solace, wouldn’t it?)

  19. Bunge:

Proxie, Moxie, and Cottontail are calling you from their burrow.

You think that the Ukrainians might a bit better calibration of the risks and rewards for F-16s, MIG 29s, or other 4th generation jets? You think they may have valid reasons (Holodomor) not to submit to your man Vlad?

Change your shorts and find a spine.

And by the way, you have some homework, today’s Perun, linked above, is a start.

  20. This regime is at war with us, see the whole hamilton 68 fraud which was a way for them to seize powrt

why do you want to give them an opportunity they care about the ukrainian people shirley

  21. They invented the black ledger out of whole cloth and covered up hunters china ukraine albania kazakh ties which overlap with mr mcgonical

  22. Deploying offensive weapons ……

Otay geniuses, are inflatable tanks offensive, or “Nerf” tanks?

To this astounding genius, Ukraine should have decided to join the Russian Federation when they surrendered their Soviet era nuclear weapons, since any resistance by Ukraine could be viewed as offensive to The Russian Federation.

Is Ukraine planning to advance beyond their internationally recognized borders and roll towards Moscow or the Caspian Sea?

Roosia wants, and the geniuses agree. Not only is resistance futile, it is offensive.
