Head of the FBI Wray testifies in the usual manner — 22 Comments

  1. Wray should be impeached, along with all 4 of the FISA judges, and many other top bureaucrats who’ve been doing illegal stuff.

It might even happen, if there’s a Red Wave in Nov. (ie the stupid party doesn’t mess it up) — Trump’s endorsed primary wins auger that the GOPe might not totally blow it.

It would be good to get into the Congressional record, available to the public, just how bad so many top bureaucrats have been.

The lawmakers should also mandate a 10-year term limit on Federal Employment — after which they leave and can’t come back for at least 10 years. More turnover is a good in itself.

  2. Griffin

“And Trump appointed this guy.” I get your reaction in spades and I have thought a lot about this.

In the early part of his presidency I think Trump thought he had strong and bright folks surrounding him. It was the top of the Federal Government, after all! Over time he painfully learned the truth.

Classic CEO behavior when confronted with a challenge is to say, “Bring me the best and brightest.” In the Covid situation, he was brought Dr Mengele and Scarf Girl. Look at his face in the early days when they were at the podium. I am pretty sure bringing in Dr Scott Atlas was the beginning of an attempt to actually source the best and brightest.

A confirmation of Dr Atlas’ best and brightest status would come from how aggressively the organism tried to cast him off.

He needed a new FBI director. “Bring me the best and brightest.” What did he get? A RHINO hack.

  3. The FBI is the Democratic Party’s military arm. It can execute, it can wound, it can seize property and keep it forever, it lies as a habit, and it is thoroughly corrupt. I can smell the rotten stench from 1000 miles away.

  4. When so many Republicans turned their backs on their president and their country by refusing to serve in his administration, he was left with an impossible task.

  5. The altermatives were not great for example mike rogers swamp creature.

Wray had been christies atty in the bridge business but he had also beem part of the enron taskforce with weissmam. As part of the eurasian division he had volunteered to mutiny against the gonzalez doj

  6. FBI Director Wray claims to not be aware of the training materials used in his organization. While undoubtedly a lie, given the emphasis the Executive branch has placed on domestic terrorism, when his claim is taken at face value, it reveals at best an appalling ignorance indicative of an utter unfitness for his position. That apparent incompetence is, in and of itself indicative of Wray’s actions having a politicized motivation.

  7. I am a Navy Vet, like my Father and my Brother. The “Don’t Tread On Me” flag was until BO a Navy Flag. I still have my Cap, in fact wore it yesterday. I will be wearing it more often now.

  8. @ SHIREHOME – Power Line began a post with a bit about the history of the Gadsden flag, which I hadn’t known before.
    https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2022/08/dont-tread-on-me.php

Before the departure of the United States Navy’s first mission in 1775, Continental Colonel Christopher Gadsden from South Carolina presented the newly appointed commander with a yellow rattlesnake flag to serve as a standard for his flagship. Accompanying the Navy on its first mission were five companies of Marines carrying yellow drums featuring a snake with 13 rattles and the words “Don’t Tread on Me.” The Navy later adapted the snake emblem and “Don’t Tread on Me” motto into what is now known as the First Navy Jack.

John Hinderaker then discusses the negative politicization of what was formerly known to be a patriotic symbol.

The FBI flagged it as one of a number of symbols that are popular with “Anti-Government or Anti-Authority Violent Extremists.” The FBI describes the Gadsden flag as a “Historical American symbol, representing gun rights and limited government.” Imagine that.

Well, one could fairly describe the flag’s 18th-century originators as “Anti-Government or Anti-Authority Violent Extremists” who were very much in favor of gun rights and limited government.
Which puts the FBI firmly in the camp of the British Royalists.
    Imagine that.

  9. This is Hinderaker’s source, with several examples of variants on the flag symbols, and why the rattlesnake was used.

Here’s a Florida version – in homage to the pearl-clutching about DeSantis authorizing Gadsden Flag license plates.

  10. This is a good post covering all of Wray’s wrangling.
    https://thefederalist.com/2022/08/04/fbi-director-wray-sets-possible-new-record-for-how-many-times-a-person-can-fail-in-a-3-5-hour-hearing/

    And cruisin’ with Cruz —

“Also on this list is the Gadsden flag as a symbol of violent extremism,” Cruz continued. “Now, the State of Virginia has a license plate with the Gadsden flag — as do many other states,” he said. “I think people would be astonished to find that having that license plate, the FBI indicates that you’re a violent extremist.”

“As a Texan, I was particularly struck,” Cruz added, “by the Gonzales Battle Flag — ‘Come and Take It’ — as indicative of being a violent extremist militia. Well, I will self-report right now that every day in the Senate I wear my boots that have the Gonzalez Battle Flag on the back,” Cruz declared, smacking his boot on the dais.

Being born and bred in Texas, an attack on the Gonzales battle flag is offensive and triggering to me, and makes me think that the FBI is committing hate speech, which is just like violence, and is not promoting safe spaces for marginalized people like us patriots.

    For all y’all uneducated Yankees – 😉

  11. And Wray can’t catch a break from Grassley.
    https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/08/04/grassley-levels-chris-wray-with-one-simple-fact-after-he-claims-he-has-a-flight-to-catch-n607050

Blackburn asked if Wray would agree that Russia collusion was a “hoax.” He said that he wouldn’t use the terminology. When asked if he agreed that the Hunter Biden laptop was not Russian disinformation, he said, “I can’t comment on that.” He claimed it was an “ongoing” investigation. He wouldn’t even admit they had the laptop.

The fact that the laptop is not Russian disinformation is not part of the investigation. It would be one thing if you were asking about the investigation into Hunter Biden. If you can’t even admit to certain basic truths, that shows how compromised he, and therefore the FBI, are at this point.

So, what exactly can he comment on? All he seems to know how to do is evade questions and turn the FBI into a completely politicized mess.

Then when the senators started to call him out on it, what was his response? Sorry, guys, I can’t stick around, I have to catch a plane. Yes, he seriously said that to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA).

That astonished Grassley, who nailed him with a little reality, saying but you have “your own plane.”… that we pay for.

  12. The Gadsden flag is a very popular option for Virginia license plates and easily recognized by the yellow/orange background whereas the rest of our license plates have mostly white backgrounds.

  13. Back in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s, the Left hated the CIA, the Department of Defense (the US military), and the FBI. However their strategy of the “long march” through the institutions of power sadly has worked and the end results are James Clapper, John Brennan, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley, James Comey, Christopher Wray, and the love birds Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.

  14. Wray is surely the most suavely barbered, manicured and tailored fascist ever to head the FBI.

He and Rex Tillerson impressed Trump (they wore the correct executive suits).

  15. He and Rex Tillerson impressed Trump (they wore the correct executive suits).

Tillerson is a very accomplished man. The problem was he did not respect the man for whom he was working. Wray I think was appointed on Rosenstein’s recommendation. Wray, is, of course, a Bush Administration alumnus. Did you catch Richard Cheney’s new ad for his daughter? I regret every word I ever uttered in his defense and in Bush’s defense. Richard Cheney is not your friend.

  16. From a commentor to the article by John Hinderaker/Powerline:
“Florida would be at least the seventh state to issue Gadsden flag license plates. The others I know of are Arizona, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.
As of 2013, it was Virginia’s ninth most popular vanity plate, with some 21,800 Virginians having a pair on their cars.”

  17. Just more proof that the agencies of the govt are merely the enforcement arm of the demokrat party; no different than the Stasi, Gestapo or the Cheka.

Those in govt who testify before congress know they can lie with total impunity and by their non-answers and bald faced lies, are openly mocking the “citizen’s representative,” who is posing the questions

It’s clear that those within the govt brought before these committees for questioning, believe it’s a total joke and that those asking the questions are just idiots.

Aside from Wray, the two biggest liars ever to appear before this powerless committees were / are Hillary Clinton and Alejandro Mayorkas; the latter never having uttered one truthful remark.
They told more lies than Jimmy Hoffa did when he was dragged before some congressional committee.

Our govt. is broken; it really is.
And half of the citizenry (if not more) and the demokrats in DC hope to break it even further.
This Mayorkas SOB really belongs in jail

  18. OMG, what a lying piece of shit. “I’m not familiar with that document”.

Are you KIDDING me ? Something leaked by a whistleblower and reported in the media and you didn’t IMMEDIATELY find out the exact truth of the report ?

How goddam stupid do you think we are ? Unreal

  19. @ deadrody > “Are you KIDDING me ? Something leaked by a whistleblower and reported in the media and you didn’t IMMEDIATELY find out the exact truth of the report ?”

Not the first time we have had high-level functionaries admit that they are totally incompetent, because that’s the only choice other than bare-faced liars.
Obama was always claiming about some document or event that he only found out about it from the news. Possibly that was true, but I think most of the time is was a lie in service of deflecting from his lies regarding his agenda.
Apparently, people under him just did things and didn’t bother to tell him.
That’s likely true — but there was a lot of nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

OTOH, some of them really are that incompetent.
Peter Heck of Not the Bee has the receipts.
