  1. Breast milk can sustain an 18-month-old in good health

It is said that my great-grandmother nursed my maternal grandfather until he was four years old. I assume he was also eating regular food at that point. That would be in the late 1800’s.

  2. Is it really the case that most people’s natural hand color is the same as their natural face color?

    Yep.

    ==

If you’re not on the stage or on a set, the optimal quantum of make-up is none. For you gals, a little Clearasil to hide the blemishes. If you’re a pol being interviewed on television, the optimal quantum is also none. If looking like WC Fields bothers you, stay off The News Hour.

  3. RE: Iran

    Just have John Kerry negotiate.
A settlement will be reached within 10 minutes.
His idea of negotiating, as well as that of the State Dept., is to give Iran (or for that matter, any nation on earth that has been “wronged” by the USA anytime since the Pre-Cambrian Era) whatever they want.

Let’s make that 5 minutes to account for Iran’s and the State Dept’s and Kerry’s hatred of Israel.

    See how easy that is.

  4. Here’s a very disturbing case of a mother convicted of first degree murder for allowing her child to starve on a mostly vegan diet (the father will be tried as well):

I’m not understanding why this was not resolved with a plea bargain.

  5. “Is it really the case that most people’s natural hand color is the same as their natural face color?”

Well, it sure ain’t the case for truly dark “black” people, at least those that I’ve known.

  6. Whatever the details of the mother convicted in her child’s death, I have huge philosophical issues with convictions of two different levels of homicide for one death. The article states she was convicted of first degree murder and aggravated manslaughter. It seems a person could and should only be convicted of one homicide charge at most for one death.
I do not know if the feeding of “ raw” food only was tied to this weird , out of control philosophy of “ natural” that a lot of white women get caught up in or not. As I like to remind them, poison ivy is all natural, organic and non GMO. So is rattlesnake venom. So is bull nettle stings. Goes right thru blue jeans into your legs.
Darwinism basically says that nature is out to get you. Judeo-Christianity says this is a fallen world and there are “ thorns and thistles” and wolves and snakes , etc…. . But where do these “ if it is natural it is good” people get their philosophy?
I mean, if I can reasonably avoid using a pesticide on my vegetable garden, I will. But this world is fallen and there are bugs aplenty.

  7. Is breast milk from a woman whose body fat is below a healthy minimum sufficiently fatty for the kid?

  8. Art Deco:

Do a survey. Go out and ask fifty people to put the back of their hands up to their face, and see what you get.

  9. The vegan family with the dead toddler and 3 mal-nourished kids is just tragic in this day and age, but it’s made worse with the understanding that the authorities knew. “Failure to thrive” is a fairly dire diagnosis, as I understand it. But, without getting too far down a rabbit hole of assumptions: The examining physicians didn’t think it serious enough to pick up the phone? Child Protective Services didn’t think it serious enough to take action? Aren’t the Child / Adult Protective Services normally run by the District Attorney? I am appalled that it could happen. The surviving children will be left with a legacy of emotional and cognitive issues for life.

The DA for this area is fairly new and the office is coming out from under a cloud left by the dismissal of the previous DA for ethical violations. But the more I read about the story, the more it appears that the entire system is functionally incapable of exercising its safeguards. In an earlier story related to this one, there are mentions that the trial may be complicated because an examining psychiatrist might not be able to get an evaluation report on the defendant completed before the court date – which at the time of the story, was months out. And apparently at some point after the problem was recognized, the parent was given counseling about recovering the situation, so its seriousness was recognized some time ago – the problem was well-identified. What would the psychiatrist’s priorities be, one might wonder, that such a case would not be front and center to prepare for the trial? How about the DA’s priorities? Any one of these officials should have been on the parents like a rash. It will be interesting to see the truth of the matter revealed.

  10. neo clarifies (5:09 pm), “Talking about the color of the back of the hand, not the palm.”

Honestly, neo, I was not trying to wise-ass you. It really never occurred to me that the hand might refer to anything but the palm. To me, in my heretofore cloistered world, the back of the hand was/is the back of the hand, distinct from the hand/palm.

    Carry on . . .

  11. Law-abiding citizens who can legally possess a firearm are allowed to carry it, and Democrats are terrified of that. Maybe they think you’re going to shoot them?

What are they doing that would make them think such a thing?

  12. cb:

Kenosha, mostly peaceful, maybe. Nope, can’t be that.

No bail DA policies? Nope, can’t be that.

    Insurrections?

    I’m stumped too.

  13. Aren’t the Child / Adult Protective Services normally run by the District Attorney?

No. County commissioner of social services, or the analagous agencies at the state-level.

  14. Go out and ask fifty people to put the back of their hands up to their face, and see what you get.

Likely a great many disconcerted and disgusted looks.

  15. In Texas, at least in the counties with large cities, Adult and Child protective service agencies are administered by the county DA.

  16. The SCOTUS decision limiting the regulatory power of federal agencies is potentially of huge importance.

I’m uncomfortable with banning abortion from conception.

The mother and, apparently her previous husband were willing to sacrifice their baby upon the altar of their veganism.

There’s a certain fanatical element to veganism, perhaps best expressed by the question asking what the difference is between a vegetarian and a vegan? Answer; a vegetarian is someone who has decided to limit or eliminate meat from their diet. A vegan is someone who has decided that you must eliminate meat from your diet.

Re: “Iran accused of making ‘maximalist demands’ in nuclear deal talks”

John Kerry would indeed give the Mullahs whatever incremental demands they might have. ‘Incremental’ is the key word. The Mullahs most basic demand is simple; the entire world must become Muslim or be ‘subdued’ and pay the jizza tax.

Nothing less will do but the Mullahs realize the truth in the saying, “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and undersand that it applies to their jihad as well.

    cb,

Democrats are not terrified of law abiding citizens possessing guns. The useful idiots have embraced their indoctrination; that the availability of guns makes their unlawful use possible. Thus law abiding citizens must be denied the right to defend themselves from the criminal. Positing that after a long enough period, criminals will no longer have the capability to use guns in their crimes. The rationale is that it’s unfortunate but sacrifices must be made for the greater good. To make an omelet, eggs must be broken.

Democrat Stalinists rightly see the 2nd Amendment as a fundamental obstacle to the fundamental transformation of America. It is they who push their propagandists to indoctrinate the useful idiots.

  17. Those guilty verdicts for the mom starving her child are stunning. Murder 1, plus a slew of lesser crimes. I’ve never fully understood all the variations on murder 3 &/or manslaughter. I know sometimes those can end up with minimal sentences, which the prosecutors understandably didn’t want. I am shocked that they didn’t limit it to murder 2.

The situation reminds me of the disorder orthorexia nervosa, except that is something you do to yourself, not others. I am confused though. The kid refused to eat raw fruits and vegetables even when starving to death? What foods did mom offer, and did she try to offer something the kid liked within those categories?

Also, I suppose there is the protein issue, assuming the kid isn’t getting much breast milk. Proper protein mixes can be had with a vegan diet, but that might be tough with a picky eater.

  18. Apropos of vegan diets, most vets will tell you not to inflict them on pets, particularly cats, who are obligate carnivores (must have meat in their diets). Here’s an article from the BBC on various vegans’ attempts to formulate and sell vegan pet foods:

    https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20200304-can-you-feed-cats-and-dogs-a-vegan-diet

One such experimental kibble for dogs contains crickets, which suggests to me that the Great Reset crowd is bankrolling this venture. The entrepreneurs comment that people should not sell dog food unless they eat it themselves. One of them remarks that he eats his vegan dog food all the time.

I do hope that “Doctor” Jill isn’t forcing a vegan diet on the WH’s First Cat.

  19. Mine are very very different. My hand is way more tan colored as it’s often in the sun as I’m driving around, etc. But face color is like my untanned skin under my watch. So maybe this is so for most of the year in New England, Minnesota, etc. But not so much in the SW, Texas, Florida, etc.
Totally with you-I hate fouondation. I wear mascara reluctantly as my eyes are deep set and it easily smears.

  20. Mine are very very different. My hand is way more tan colored as it’s often in the sun as I’m driving around, etc. But face color is like my untanned skin under my watch. So maybe this is so maybe this is the case for most of the year in New England, Minnesota, etc., where there is not that much sun, or people are inside a lot. But not so much in the SW, Texas, Florida, etc.

  21. The Fourth of July is coming up and, this evening, people in our area are already starting to shoot off fireworks, and it starting me thinking.

One of the reasons we have a country–”if we can keep it”–is the dedication of our Armed Forces.

Unfortunately, traditional morality is increasingly breaking down and–as what I think is just one small result–there is an apparently growing epidemic of what are likely many tens or even hundreds of thousands of military impostors running around and infesting our country.

They steal the valor of actual vets, usurp their place, in effect shove in front of them, and quite often get the benefits and acclaim these real vets have earned through their sacrifices.

(Federal “Stolen Valor” laws have been passed, but prosecutions are apparently not a priority for local police, and the penalties for violations are just not that substantial.)

According to the many articles and the videos on Youtube, these phonies sometimes scam the VA out of benefits, or work their way into veteran’s organizations, are honored in their local towns, or sometimes even at the state or national level, they get the job, the discounts, the preferential loan, they get the girl, the free drinks and food, appear in heavily bemedaled uniforms at various events, sometimes get worshipful writeups in local papers and appear on TV, and sometimes appear at their local church or school to tell parishioners or students their phony stories of heroism and sacrifice.

The tendency of many of these fake soldiers—many of whom have never served even a day in the military–is to claim to have been members of our most elite military forces.

Thus, quite often, they claim to have been SEALS, members of Delta Force, the Green Berets, Rangers, or Force Recon, to have been POWS (according to Retired SEAL Master Chief Don Shipley, no SEAL has ever been a POW), or involved in taking down Bin Laden.

They claim to have had outstanding careers in the military, and to have been awarded Purple Hearts, Navy Crosses, the Distinguished Service medal, Navy Cross, Army Cross, Silver star, or Bronze star, and seemingly have the pictures, medals, plaques, and paperwork to prove it.

When challenged they will often say that because of all the “classified” missions they have been on their “records have been sealed” and cannot be found.

Unfortunately, if you check the Internet, you will also see that you can easily buy the uniforms and both the medals and the paperwork to go with them, made out in your name. Moreover, photos can easily be Photoshopped, and a DD-214—the official Discharge document which summarizes your military career–phonied up.

Many of these phonies even claim to have been awarded our highest award, the Congressional Medal of Honor.

In fact, there have only been 3,511 Medals of Honor ever awarded, and there are currently only 63 living Medal of Honor recipients, yet one estimate says there are many thousands of phonies who claim to have been awarded our highest military award). *

Quite often these phonies claim to have been U.S. Navy SEALS.**

One 2011 article gave an estimate of 7,600 for the number of living SEALS, with around 2,400 serving, back then, in our military.***

Based on his extensive decade’s long experience finding and exposing phony SEALS retired SEAL Master Chief Don Shipley estimates that there are many hundreds or more phonies for every actual SEAL.****

  22. “…swimmingly…”

The POINT is: the Iran “talks” don’t have to go “swimmingly” for “Biden” to give Iran everything Iran wants…while making it appear as though “he”‘s not.

IOW, the Iran “talks” don’t have to go “swimmingly” for them to go “swimmingly” (i.e., as far as “Biden” and “his” Mullah pals are concerned).

Besides, it’s better for “Biden” that it APPEARS that the “talks” are NOT GOING “SWIMMINGLY”….(all the better to assuage AND/OR confuse the “all-powerful” ZIONIST lobby—and serve ’em right too!….and oh-the-lovely schadenfreude…when “Biden” is, once again, able to cut the Zionist Entity down to size—that evil TRUMP bast**d gave those ZIOs a bit a reprieve, but we’ll SHOW them…. Yes indeedy: chalk up another impressive “Biden” victory…to be accompanied by another tooth-sparklin’, sh**-eatin’ grin…accompanied by several spectacular corrupt media editorials how the Zionist, having failed consistently to make peace with their neighbors, deserve everything they get…)

  23. The child-starving mother in NYC seems to exhibit symptoms of Munchhausen’s-by-proxy. Clearly not a full-blown, classic case, but inflicting harm on one’s child in order to obtain validation for one’s ostensible goodness seems the hallmark of the diagnosis. I’m rather sure that mom circulated among a group of like-minded “vegans” who supported and praised her child-feeding regimen. But what do I know? She could just as easily have been crazy as a shit-house rat.

  24. A vegan diet consisting of only raw fruits and vegetables was likely to be protein-poor for the entire family, including the older children. The little one needed more protein than breast milk could provide, and probably there wasn’t enough anyhow. A variety of legumes and nuts are where these diets can get enough protein. It can be done with careful planning. Some groups in India are totally vegan (Jains), but they know how to do it properly. Most Hindu vegetarians use milk products to supplement the protein in legumes.

I looked up Child Protective Services in my state. It’s under the Department of Health Services, not local law enforcement.

  25. My post above at 11:56 p.m. cont’d—According to retired SEAL Don Shipley a SEAL’s DD214 will show which schools he attended, where he was stationed, and the amount of time spent in U.S. or overseas service, but just not the details of any classified operations.

Thus, there are no instances in which someone’s DD214 is “classified” and not able to be found.

Shipley also mentioned that for some reason these phonies often like to claim to have been “snipers.”

  26. Snow on Pine,

I served seven years in the USN in the submarine service. I never saw actual shooting combat, but I made quite a few multi-month patrols in both the Atlantic and Pacific. I have a DD214 reflecting that service. After my civilian retirement, I applied for VA medical benefits. I earned them, right? Yet I was turned down, i.e. zero benefits, because…
…between my social security and the modest pension I get from 35 years with the same company, they said I make too much money.

Needless to say, I am bitter and angry about it.

The irony is that I personally know several veterans who have much more money than I have who had no problem getting those same benefits. The difference? As far as I can see, it’s because when they applied there was a different regime in place in Washington.

As far as I’m concerned, anyone who served and earned an Honorable Discharge, has earned VA benefits. That there are likely many tens of thousands of military impostors running around who quite often get those same VA benefits, just makes it even worse.

  27. “Rats! Our latest attempt at character assassination didn’t work like it should have. We’ll have to try something else….”

Meanwhile, just a tiny, overlooked, covered up blast from the past…
“Flashback: Dems sought to taint Trump 2016 win, change electors’ pledged votes”—
    https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/elections/flashback-democrats-used-hillarys-trump-russia-collusion-hoax-try-delay
    Opening graf:
“While House Democrats’ Jan. 6 committee continues to vilify Donald Trump for his efforts to pause certification of the disputed 2020 election, key figures in their own party urged electors to violate state law and change their pledged votes for the 2016 Electoral College while trying to delay the vote by demanding an update on bogus allegations of Trump-Russia collusion contrived at the behest of the Hillary Clinton campaign….”
(Funny how these little—Democratic Party Projection—things seem to happen all the time….)

  28. Breastfeeding is the best choice for babies yet, for whatever reason, latching issues, infection issues, clogged ducks, and sometimes just the general mental status of the mother can make breastfeeding bad.

Something is amiss on this charge, aside from the murder/manslaughter charge thing. A raw diet can, can is the operative word work, but you need to find protein laden food. We all need protein, fat, carbs, and, yes, sugar. Thing is, everything breaks down to pretty much sugar in our bodies to fuel us. Yet, if we add extra sugar or protein or whatever, it can have other affects of which sometimes can be bad or fatal. There are a few ways to get a cut, body builders type of body, but doing so long term consistently is not healthy. Body builders cycle. It’s funny, but truly revealing that actors are now admitting to what they do to get that kind of body. To get the veins to pop out, after a cutting period, you have sugar. And, I am sure for guys, especially a little older guys they have an extra testosterone boost.

  29. Geoffrey Britain @ 7/2 8:59pm:
You are uncomfortable with abortion from conception, you say.
Perhaps you have not had the proper education.

As a young man, I took the mandatory embryology course in medical school and though I was not particularly spiritual in those early years, I was awed by the development of the human embryo from its earliest, 2 or 4 cell, status into a human being 9 months later.

You perhaps do not know embryology. As an example, here is how the urinary tract is formed in the very young fetus: a small group of mesenchymal cells migrates caudad, while another small group of cells migrates craniad; where they meet, the kidney is formed. The “craniad” cells form the actual kidney, the cells rising up from the future pelvis merge with the former to create the collecting tubules, ureters, and bladder. A miracle of creation which happens spontaneously and routinely!

Spontaneous abortions, aka miscarriages, almost always remove a maldeveloping, non-viable fetus from the uterus.
It is humans who voluntarily kill their own in-utero children.

Pregnancy as “Danger to the mother” as an excuse for abortion is mostly BS. More than 60 million unborn American citizens have been slaughtered since 1973.

The planet’s human population will crater over the next 50 years, say many actual demographers who also conclude the population decline will be irreversible. So the irrational Greenies will win in the end without the unnecessary expenditure of trillions to prevent climate change. We are already adrift in a sea of oppression, corruption, and stupidity.

  30. Regarding abortion…

Yes, science does state that there is new life after conception. Conception is not a hard a fast time, but a general period of time.

Science has stated this since at least Aristotle and his observations. Yet, Aristotle was not against abortion as far as I can gather.

Abortion is a philosophical and cultural norm issue. Science is secondary if that.

Problem is, our societal norms have put abortion out of whack for what most advanced Western nations have and most of the world in general.

The worse problem is that the pendulum is vastly swinging the other way making it to where the next iteration of Roe v Wade will be flat out after birth infanticide which is already bubbling up.

  31. “We are already adrift in a sea of oppression, corruption, and stupidity.”
Seems that Kamala Harris, that epitome of deep thinking, is in earnest, full-throated agreement:
“Kamala Harris Compares Roe Reversal to Slavery”—
    https://www.nationalreview.com/news/kamala-harris-compares-roe-reversal-to-slavery/
    – – – – – – – – –
Meanwhile, Andrew McCarthy tries to clean up the Cassidy Hutchinson/Jan. 6 Commission mud-wrassling pit (and his own knee-jerk response)…by stepping gingerly through the brain-deadening, thought-sucking muck…and blaming Adam Kinzinger… (Huh?)
    https://www.nationalreview.com/2022/07/kinzinger-undermines-the-january-6-committee/

    Well, um, OK….

  32. Compare and contrast:
“Over 70 Percent of Americans Don’t Want Biden to Seek a Second Term: Poll”—
    https://www.nationalreview.com/news/over-70-percent-of-americans-dont-want-biden-to-seek-a-second-term-poll/

Meanwhile, Hillary backs America’s MOST POPULAR “PRESIDENT”:
    https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/hillary-clinton-back-biden-if-he-runs-2024

    “Hey, what’s not to like”(?)….
Or maybe, “I’m very proud of President Joe Biden; he’s doing a better job than I could ever do…”(?)

  33. Traveling for abortions is already underway. South Carolina and Tennessee have bans beginning at 6-8 weeks (essentially, heartbeat laws). North Carolina abortion clinics are extending hours and hiring staff. NC has an existing law at 20 weeks, and that will not be addressed until next year, according to state House and Senate leadership. I just saw a post on Nextdoor from a woman who wants to volunteer to drive women from SC into NC for abortions. This is being organized on Facebook.

I have also seen repeated claims (from Democrats) that SC and TN will not allow treatment for miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies. This is false there and in NC also; these conditions are not elective abortions and are not prohibited.

  34. I don’t know the definition of 1st degree murder is in either Virginia or Florida, but I am personally familiar with a case in Michigan in which a mother (most-likely) accidentally suffocated an infant by shoving a Kleenex or hanky in the child’s mouth to stop or muffle it’s crying and the boy died. She was convicted of Murder in the First Degree and sentenced to life in prison without Parole. The Michigan Penal Code, Act 328 of 1931, Section 750.316 (1)(b) states: “…a person who commits any of the following is guilty of first degree murder and shall be punished by imprisonment for life without eligibility for parole: …child abuse in the first degree…”. While it doesn’t happen often (I don’t think), it is on the books and happened about 21 years ago. The woman subsequently died in prison of cancer.
There must be some sort of similar special provision for child abuse. Your link, Neo, contains the following quote: “The jury convicted O’Leary, 38, of Cape Coral, on six charges: first-degree murder; aggravated child abuse; aggravated manslaughter; child abuse; and two counts of child neglect.”

  35. On the subject of infants and milk, mother’s milk is sufficient up to a year. Cow’s milk is not. I remember seeing 2 year olds that had been fed nothing but cow’s milk. They were profoundly anemic. Sometimes a hemoglobin below 5.

  36. Roy—I knew of someone who was in the Air Force and stationed in Vietnam, where one of his duties was to wash aircraft after they returned from dropping Agent Orange.

Years later, he started to develop a series of bizarre and progressively more crippling neurological symptoms.

Despite numerous attempts to get help for his condition from the VA, they turned these pleas down, on the grounds that he could never prove a “service connection” for his illness.

Eventually, bedridden and totally paralyzed, he died at a very young age.

  37. My post above at 11:54 further continued–

Unfortunately, as a smaller and smaller percentage of our population has any military service and familiarity with the military–with how the military thinks and talks, with uniforms, awards, how things are done, with what military documents should contain and how they should look, and with what is likely–these phony veterans have an easier and easier time of selling their stories.

Some of these phony soldiers are very slick, have researched military history in books, on the Internet, and viewed many war movies, lined up their phony documents and photos, and have a very convincing story.

    Others, not so much.

So, for instance, given their importance, DD214s are prepared in a very meticulous and uniform way, using very specific language and terminology, with rarely a misspelled word, different mismatched typefaces, incorrect punctuation or capitalization, or something else out of place.

    I found the following amusing.

About half way through the video from SEAL Master Chief Don Shipley I have linked to above he shows a phonied up DD214, and in the section for “Decorations, Medals, Badges, Citations and Campaign Ribbons Awarded or Authorized” we find this “Awarded Navy CROSS @ purple hearts,
(extra space) also 13 ribbons at SPEC OPS DC”

“and in the Remarks section below this there is the following illiterate bullshit–

“Payne was awarded the Navy Cross & 2 Purple Hearts, after be shot 3 times, he performed (extra space) a trake in flight, while bleedin out himself, and being pronounced dead tenmin later, showing that he is a true Hero and Medic. America owes (first name and initial redacted by me) Payne for his service.

  38. @ Snow – regardless of what is or is not classified in the records, there is no excuse for the VA to not at least check that a DD214 exists with the same name, ID number, and birthdate as the person claiming to be a veteran.
If the one on file doesn’t match the one the person presents, then they should be denied (as a kinetic action, by preference).
If the VA is accepting papers from anyone who walks in without verifying, then they need to be purged of administrators and clerks.

@ Roy – if they are able to check the person’s Social Security benefits, they can certainly check the military records.

My preferred answer to everyone who advocates single-payer (government) health care is “So, you want your medical needs administered by the VA?”

  39. AesopFan–I don’t know what the current organizational culture and situation in the VA is, but back a few years ago, when there were massive backlogs, horrific reports about how the VA treated sick veterans, about rude, incompetent, and nasty VA employees who were “unfireable,” and people were dying waiting for treatment, there was a push for some major reforms.

I have seen it speculated that, during this time, if someone submitted a dubious claim for veteran’s benefits and kept pushing/protesting if they didn’t get them, rather than have another unfavorable headline about backlogs, and about veterans being denied the benefits they deserved, people at the VA didn’t look too closely at such applications and hold things up, but just pushed those applications through.

  40. I’ve heard the VA has 350k unionized employees. Not much chance of fixing it.

  41. @ Snow – the usual way our government fixes problems: treat symptoms, not causes, and cave to bad press instead of explaining what they are doing — most people are NOT in favor of giving benefits to people who don’t deserve them, but DO want benefits to go to those that do.

Typical of government (or any large bureaucracy, including corporations).
    Communist tyrannies excepted, of course.
They don’t have to explain or justify themselves to the masses — in whose name they govern — so long as their Fearless Leader is satisfied.

  42. Richard Aubrey — “I’ve heard the VA has 350k unionized employees. Not much chance of fixing it.”
    .Yes … Such truth.
My hate of unions is deep. Public unions — deeper.

  43. From the “F*** Clarence Thomas” File:
“Chicago Violence: 7 Killed, 29 Others Shot Over Fourth of July Weekend”—
    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/chicago-violence-7-killed-29-others-shot-over-fourth-july-weekend

Judge Thomas may wish to save lives (or he may wish merely to follow the Law as he understands it) but the thoughtful and articulate, if heavy-handed, Mayor Lightfoot will be damned if she follows Thomas’s egregious anti-Black, anti-city, anti-Democratic, anti-common-sense shtick.

    Utterly damned.

As such Mayor Lightfoot wishes one and all a very Happy Fourth of July, and wants all her constituents to know, and know well, that her Master Plan to comprehensively and methodically reduce overcrowding in the city she loves and about which she cares so deeply is working exceeding well, in fact beyond all expectation.

(Actually, the plan is working so well that the good Mayor Adams of NYC is examining it careful for possible future implementation in the city he leads and loves so much….)

  44. Just WOW!
Here’s a fascinating, if discomfiting, dissection of those voices on the right (e.g., Andrew McCarthy, Douglas Murray, Seth Mandel)—all respectable voices on the right-of-center—who all-too-eagerly jumped on the Cassidy Hutchinson bandwagon….
The person posting believes that opposition to Trump—FROM THE RIGHT—is due to the fact that Trump’s active policies were NOT sufficiently anti-Islamist (e.g., his fierce disagreement with John Bolton); and compares this PLANNED congruence of vociferous anti-Trump sentiment, triggered by the latest absurd iteration of the Jan. 6 “Commission”, to the release and piling-on of the anti-Trump Access Hollywood tapes of 2016.
Not sure I agree with this take—though it’s certainly possible (but I believe the more general opposition to Trump may well be due to his being more of a maverick, IOW “unreliable”—or UNCONTROLLABLE—than anything else).
    Anyway, FWIW:
“WHO’S BEHIND THE LATEST ATTEMPT TO END DONALD TRUMP’S POLITICAL CAREER?
“The conspirators have something in common, which may surprise you.”—

    E.g.:
“…It’s my belief that the timing of the publication of these articles was no accident. Typical of such a coordinated attack was how the release of the Access Hollywood tape in October 2016 was exploited….”

And the conclusion (from three of the last four of this thread’s 38 segments):
“…I suspect the main reason is that for the NeverTrumper any departure from the GOP foreign policy of 2004 is intolerable. Was there any difference in the foreign policy positions of Bush jr, McCain or Romney?
“For all his tough talk, Trump didn’t use military force enough to satisfy the neocons. His decision to pull US troops from Syria was probably his most egregious divergence from GOP approved foreign policy positions. [Emphasis mine; Barry M.]
“Almost certainly anyone else the GOP nominates would be more reliably interventionist than Trump. [Emphasis mine; Barry M.] Yes, that includes Ron DeSantis. So they will attempt to sabotage his 2024 chances given the opportunity.”

Once again, possible; but not sure I buy the “anti-Islamist” angle…

  45. From the “Madwoman in the Attic” File (Liz Cheney Section):
“A 2022 and 2024 agenda: On ABC, Cheney said the most important issue facing the United States today–more than inflation, crime, Ukraine, China, border, anything–is ‘protecting the nation from Donald Trump.’ “—

Another example, in case you needed one, of Trump pulling the masks off fools and grifters in public life, the Republican establishment as much as anyone. The only thing she cares about is the comfort and convenience of the nomenklatura.

  47. So does Mayorkas blame the overturning of RvW on Global Warming(TM)?
(This is all getting really sophisticated…and curious minds wanna know…):
    ‘Chief of Excuses: DHS secretary blames climate change for border crisis, Roe decision for violence;
‘Mayorkas said he is “very mindful that the Supreme Court’s decision in reversing and overturning Roe v. Wade has really heightened the threat environment” ‘—

  48. “Breast milk can sustain an 18-month-old in good health without supplemental feeding, if the child can get enough milk in the normal way.”

That is true–but does a vegan, raw food mom make nutritionally complete breast milk? It is impossible to have a diet adequate in B12 and zinc on a vegan diet unless supplemented, and I don’t get the feeling that is how that gal rolls.

  49. Mayorkas is a crook see his deal with mcauliffe for non existent green cars
